Bad Timing
He'd planned this for a long time and had chosen this precise moment. Sporting his sharpest outfit and grasping his courage firmly, he stopped a short distance from her house.
Just this once it had to be perfect.
Her laughter drew his attention as she moved across the lawn. Unexpected emotion paralyzed him as she slipped into the car, flowers in hand.
Without conscious thought he allowed the truck to roll backwards into the shadows.
He slammed the door on his heartache and forced himself to believe that some things are better left unsaid. Her happiness was all that mattered.
