Ellen buckled herself into the plane mumbling under her breath. "how on earth do you work this bloody thing? god this is ridiculous"
"First time plane traveller?" She looked up. The lady beside her smiled reassuringly. She was odd, with grey curly hair sticking up every which-way underneath a bright green beret. This would have been strange unto itself, but her clothes resembled something out of the late 1880's, and Ellen half expected a corset.
"Huh?"
"What you need to do is lift this bit 'ere and it will just slide in"
"oh right. uh thanks" The strangers english accent was clipped, and Ellen couldn't help but notice the large chunks of dirt almost protruding out of the nails.
"no problem, muggles do always tend to be confusing"
She compressed a snort.
"what?"
"muggles. You know, non- magical people." she continued talking, seemingly oblivious to the incredulous look on Ellen's face," Oh yes, 'ow silly of me, i'm to be your new 'erbology teacher at 'ogwarts. "
"Oh yeah. I..um...well, I got the letter and all, but i have absolutely no idea what i'm doing. How will I catch up? Is there anything i'm supposed to know? This is crazy, they probably won't even let me eat any vegemite!"
"well I do admit it will be 'ard to begin with, you're lucky to even be submitted in your fifth year and- 'ang on a bit, what's vegemite?"
"it's like a spread you put on sandwiches"
"I bet it tastes disgusting"
"N-"
"Australian food always does"
"Wait up!"
"Don't know 'ow you can stand living 'ere, in all 'onesty" A loud voice came on the speakers.
"landing in ten minutes ladies and gentlemen-"
"Don't know 'ow you could 'ave lived without magic either"
"please make sure all seatbelts are fastened-"
"well i didnt know magic existed it's not like I had anything to miss-"
"still, i bet the weather would be nice" And with that, they landed in Heathrow airport, and were ushered through the doors.
