Bedtime Thoughts
By Agent S7
Toph sat down by the campfire, utterly bored. A squirrel skittered by and Toph grinned. The rock behind the squirrel jutted upward with a rumble. It wasn't hurt, but it was scared. The momentary amusement was replaced with guilt, and she turned on her other side on her bedroll to get more comfortable.
Three days. Three days since she had lost Appa, and only Aang wouldn't seem to forgive her. Major suckiness. And her and Aang were just starting to get along better.
(This isn't really helping me get to sleep.)
Oh well. Pshht. Aang. What a moron. A stupid moron. A stupid moronic moron! Ha! Like she cared what he thought! He owed her! Toph had taught him to bend earth!
Of course, he didn't owe her anything. She didn't really believe that for a second. To be frank, it was out of the goodness of her heart. And, of course, the ever-growing need for adventure.
She briefly wondered what her parents were thinking at this moment, but shrugged the thought off. No need to worry about them. Probably fine.
(I have to get to sleep!)
Katara and Sokka both turned in their sleep at the same time. Lucky ones. (Wonder what they're dreaming about?) Maybe Sokka was dreaming about that Yue character she'd heard about. Didn't she die or something?
But she forced herself to rest her unseeing eyes and put her shoes on again. Exhaustion tugged at her. They would only be able to stay in this small Earth Kingdom town for a little bit longer before they would be discovered.
(So get some sleep!)
Toph couldn't help but worry about Appa. What would happen to the poor…weird thing? Aang loved him dearly. So was it her fault? Of course not! She was saving their lives!
(I wonder if Momo would like my mom's apple pie.)
That was unexpected. No…it made perfect sense! And Aang…if he didn't give Toph back her pet turtle—(do I have a pet turtle)—then she would do a number on him! Ha! If only she could get to sleep! If only Firelord Ozai would stop snoring so much then maybe she—
At last, Toph's uneasy, half-dreaming mind fell asleep, to dream of fire and her new friends, to dream of flying bison and bending, to dream of peace…
