by the time the next school year had begun, the order at east high had been restored. the musical opened to a filled auditorium and was the school's most successful to date; the circles and cliques had settled back to their normal ways and means for the most part, and business was as usual all around. of course, the events that led up to the formation of that year's musical cast had shaken some things to the core, things that would likely last through the year -- friendships and relationships that were stronger than east high school. and things had changed, more than just on the surface.
the relationships that had seemed so unlikely in the beginning blossomed during the rest of the year and well into the summer and seemed destined to flourish. troy and gabriella had finally made themselves an official couple and while they were serious, they'd taken things pretty slowly. it was never really established, but sharpay and zeke were definitely together, always seen together -- and surprisingly one another's biggest fans. even ryan, whom for most screamed homosexual, had a girlfriend -- a girl from the drama department who he'd known for years, but never noticed until the spotlight was off of him. but the most noteworthy couple of the bunch was chad and taylor who had been going strong and steady from the beginning, and chad was never one to commit, not like that.
senior year was, as said, business as usual though the fall college tour in southern california's sign-up sheet contained an interesting mix of names -- all kids who were already college bound and likely had already formed their lists of schools to apply to. gabriella and taylor hoped to pursue higher education at some of the finer science and research schools such as standford, MIT, and eastern virginia medical school, but both names topped the sign-up sheet. zeke, chad, and troy all had some of the best basketball schools looking at them, and the evans twins' applications to julliard and NYU were already in the mail. so of course mrs. brandon and mr. flaherty suspected that the group along with the twelve other signed up for the long weekend were there simply to hang out under the guise of a search for higher education.
WRITER'S NOTE: this is only just the introduction of the first chapter, and i have so much more to write. however, this is my first fan fiction so i wanted some critique and perhaps even advice. i have a few ideas floating around in my head, but i haven't decided which couple to really focus on.
i had ideas for the following pairings:
zeke/sharpay -- i have looked around a little and never seen a fiction written about them.
lucas/taylor – there is no reason behind this other than the fact that i think it would be really cute, and because i think it would challenge my creativity to come up with a reason that they'd even have to get close to one another.
chad/taylor – because like zeke/sharpay, i haven't read a fiction about them yet.
lucas/troy – this has been done a million times before, i know, but i have a lot brainstormed for them.
with that said, opinions, suggestions, and criticisms are wanted. should i even continue or just cut my losses now?
