Hello all! I started making this after rewatching the Goofy Movie recently, how nostalgic!

This first chapter at least is dedicated to the fic "you had me a AYuk" as I was halfway through writing this, I took a look online and saw this!

Sadly I will be writing this, I hope you enjoy it.

Chapter One: After Today

With dawn breaking in Spoonerville there wasn't a student alive who was not excited for the last day of school, so much so that most of the students walking on the way to school broke into a song, this was not uncommon and in fact was almost expected. The excitement was more than just the end of the school year, it would be the formal start of summer; afternoon playing baseball with friends, bike rides around the neighborhood, and eating ice cream at the parks. Paradise.

Roxanne was on the way to school with the books she needed for the day, she didn't take part in the musical number although her best friend Stacey ran off to be involved and to awe over the latest Powerline gear, she was too deep in thought. But as she walked past the record store, she could have sworn someone was looking at her on the way by, but as she looked back half a minute later there was no one there, if anyone had been.

While this was not new to Roxanne, it was also a strange sensation. It was a part of her growing up and she had been told by numerous people – her father and Stacey not withstanding – that was she attractive, pretty, or some variant of those words. She didn't think she was exceptionally pretty, but she felt it was also churlish to not acknowledge on it some level.

The song reached its musical crescendo as Roxanne was crossing the sports field, Stacey was some ways ahead passing by the bleachers chatting animatedly with some other friends in their group on the way to the Auditorium. Stacey was in a real rush to get organized before her parting address to the student body for the summer. Roxanne was in no rush herself, so books in her hands she made her way through the field gates and was halfway walking past the bleachers when she heard a yell. She looks around to see a figure roll down the bleacher in a whirl of red, and landed all crumpled up in the dirt a few feet away.

The kids in the surrounding vicinity burst out into laughter, including Leeroy who was standing over him with a football under his arm and walked away.

Thinking that he may have been hurt, and a bit embarrassed that apparently no one in the student body seemed to actually care, Roxanne immediately went forward to help.

"Are you alright? She asked as she helped him to his feet.

"Yeah, yeah I'm okay" he began despondently "I just uh-" he stammered to a stop as they made eye contact upon him looking up and the very second this happened Roxanne felt something faint twinge in her stomach, he was not unattractive but rather cute, or at least probably would be without dirt on him.

Roxanne had no time to identify about this sensation she felt for that second, the boy started spouting out all sorts of gibberish and not only was he quite tongue tied, he was also blushing, and all Roxanne could do is watch this poor boy in a bemused manner. He had taken quite the fall after all, or maybe he just embarrassed at having fell in the first place? But the way he kept holding his arm and the way he was looking, Roxanne realized it was not either of those things, he was nervous at talking to her. Socially awkward he may have seemed, there was something very endearing about him being shy and no apparent way to stop his babbling to her.

Roxanne felt another small twinge in her stomach, and she bit her lip to keep from laughing herself but in spite of that she couldn't help but laugh as he continued to trip over words, and perhaps knowing this himself, the boy laughed with her until..

"A-Yuk"

Roxanne wasn't sure how to respond to this… noise, so she stopped laughing and her smiled started to fade as he had immediately clapped his hands to his mouth with a look of fear in his eyes, as if it would happen again.

He looked side to side and was extremely strung out, without looking at her he turned tail to run away, as he ran, he knocked over a trash can and gave a yell of anguish and annoyance and finally was out of sight.

Roxanne stood there trying to process all that had happened, wondering if it was her that upset him somehow? Or did his nerves just seize him? She walked over to the school gates in thought of the encounter. She had never had a guy lose all sorts of semblance in front of her, usually boys were trying hard to impress her – whether through sports or some other notion and bravado – in the hopes of winning her over, and none of this really appealed to her.

Her father had won over her mother by virtue of being the football captain at their high school, and the other girls at the time were green with envy and got married the year out of high school. Unfortunately, even after having three daughters together in a short space of time it became apparent that on a fundamental level that the two did not align, and all Roxanne could remember as a small child was her mother and father having a fight and one day she stormed out of the house and never returned. Her father never really recovered from the experience and an injury to his shoulder put paid to what was then a promising pro career, although he softened up considerably, when her sisters were old enough to leave and make their mark abroad, it was only them two in the house and while she loved her father dearly it was not something that she wanted for her own.

So, she did not want to date at this current stage, although she had been out on dates before, she wanted to put her studies first and foremost, and her father would object to her dating too of course.

Roxanne walked through the halls passing Bobby, a student she recognized from A.V class wheeling down an assortment of cables and a TV muttering to himself about "…Powerline…this will work fine" but didn't pay attention otherwise.

"Hello? Roxanne? Are you there?

As if coming out of a dream, she noticed that Stacey was in front of her with her hands on her hips frowning at her.

"What's with you? I've been calling out to you for A-G-E-S"

Roxanne doubted this, but truthfully, she was unaware of Stacey until she had appeared in front of her like a ghost, so it was possible she was not exaggerating.

At least greatly in this case.

Before she could answer, Stacey spoke again.

"Where have you been? I got to get this speech all done before principle Nazur gets here"

"Sorry, I just helped this boy up from the bleachers, so I was a little behind" Roxanne replied

Stacey raised an eyebrow "Max? Yeah, saw that, hope he was okay, felt bad for him, I'm sure he's fine though. I won't be if this isn't done though"

"So, his name is Max" Roxanne enquired

Stacey, who had already started walking ahead of her, stopped and looked back at her, her eyebrow raised again.

"Yes, Max Goof, don't ya know?"

"Max Goof" Roxanne repeated back to her, sounding a touch distant

Stacey paused before she looked forward again, with a somewhat gleeful look.

Because what Roxanne didn't know, and what Stacey had noticed, was that her eyes lit up just a little brighter than normal.
