!MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR SEASONS ONE, AND TWO, AND MINOR SPOILERS FOR SEASON THREE!

Hello everyone this is not my first fic but this is the first fic I am writing for the Odd Squad fandom. First things first I don't own odd squad in any way shape or form

Secondly: The timeline to me is merely a suggestion at best, but to try and make sense of it, here is a general summary of this new timeline, Olive, Otto, Olympia, and Otis are both working together kind of this also involves elements from the second season including the fact that this timeline mostly involves elements from the second season, including Oona and Oscar working together, the fact that Todd is a gardener but not a caretaker person for the villains of sorts. Also Olive and otto are not Ms. and Mr. O yet, but this also involves a villain from the third season, and also Olhm is not yet a villain.

Also if you cannot yet tell from the description, this story is going to mainly center around Odd Todd so if you came here thinking it would also center around other people I apologize in advance,

Third of all, this story is going to be mostly platonic, the most this story will have is maybe some light kissing and hugging but I hope this is clear, nothing below the stomach, clothes stay on at all times and there will be little to no romantic stuff in this story, all moments that might seem romantic are strictly platonic.

Also, here are some songs i recommend listening to while reading the story (aka songs i listened to while writing this song that i feel fit the chapter)

Beginning: Doughnut (instrumental) - Twice

Somebody's watching me - Rockwell

Panic Room - Au/Ra

Middle:

Egoist (Olivia Hye) - Loona

(You technically dont have to listen to these songs specifically, but I highly recommend doing it because i listened to these songs while writing this chapter so i feel like these songs fit the chapter best at least in my opinion)

Anyways, enjoy the story! :)

Chapter One: An Unwanted Journey Back

"Ah now that it's sunny, my 'Prize Winning Bell Peppers' can finally become ripe again, hopefully, Jamie jam doesn't jam the whole place again," Todd muttered the last part to himself so that Jamie Jam, who was on the other side of the garden, planting strawberries with the help of one of the other gardeners wouldn't hear him.

It had finally been sunny after days of rain, so now that the plants and crops in the garden had water, now all they needed was sunlight. It was afternoon almost late afternoon, the blinding sun that had been shining on Todd for a couple of hours now, being blocked by his hat to not make him overtly hot or disturb his vision. It made him think back to when he had nearly succumbed to his urges to go back to odd after holding the toastinator gadget, only being saved by Otis bringing him back to reality and reminding him of what was more important than making the world odd.

He was carefully moving his hands around the dirt planting new seeds and plants, being careful not to mess with any of the pre-existing plants and crops that had already been planted in the area that he was moving around in. He kept his tools right in front of him since he tended to easily forget where they go if beside him or anywhere out of his eye-sight, and for convenience purposes.

The first thing on his mind was making sure that the Cucumber seeds were planted properly, and that they were placed in an area where they would get proper sunlight, the absolute last thing that was on his mind, admittedly being blocked out of his mind after a long time, was the concept of oddness, going back to the odd squad, or the thought of becoming an agent again, despite being afraid of oddness, he didn't want anything to do with the odd squad after how things ended. He thought they were entitled, too strict, and most of all just rude to anyone who liked oddness, or did oddness. If only they knew that oddness makes the world go round.

In the back of his mind, he had a bad feeling that something would happen and it would not end well for him at all. But he had brushed off that small voice in the back of his head because ever since he had become a gardener full time, he had always had those small paranoias in the back of his mind that didn't exist before, so it was probably nothing, but this small voice just got progressively louder.

He had started to become annoyed with this inner terror, knowing full well that nothing bad would be happening. He started to fidget with his hands, and he noticed that his breathing became slightly tenser and his heart started skipping beats, but why? He had nothing to worry about, he had buried all of his hatchets with Odd Squad so there would be no reason to be worried about them. All the Villians had somehow understood why he had made his career shift to gardening, some even switching to other hobbies, so why was he still so worried? His jaw had even started to clench out of anxiety, he was shivering, but it was shining down, what was going on?

It almost felt like he had superpower-like senses and they were starting to go off, he had looked behind him just in case someone was behind him and he was about to be a victim, but of course, nothing. Todd felt like a fool from being so paranoid and the woman next to him had started to notice too, it was getting ridiculous at this point, there was nothing to be worried about nothing to be afraid of, and yet he still felt like something horrible was about to happen any second.

His body started going on autopilot, it was like he had lost control of his body, all he would do was plant the seeds, but this looming paranoia in his mind would not let him be, the voice that was once a mere whisper in a loud room was starting to feel like a scream in dead quiet. He was so focused on these thoughts that he didn't even realize the cold sweat running down his face, the woman next to him had noticed his tense state and asked him simply,

"Todd are you ok, is something going on? Are the crops not cropping today?"

He was reluctant to answer truthfully because as his paranoia got worse, he felt more and more ridiculous the more he thought about it,

"No, just some intrusive thoughts,"

"Oh, I have those all the time, just focus on the smell of the garden, how ripe the tomatoes are, if it gets worse I'd recommend you take a quick walk to clear your mind,"

Todd nodded in agreement, and at that moment his paranoia paused for a second, but the moment he looked back to his now sweaty and shaking hands, all the paranoia and screams in his mind had already managed to come back, it took him a little while, but he had managed to calm down using the breathing skills that he had learned from a brief period of counseling he had had for oddness and general paranoia and behavior.

He was finally able to get back to his gardening and now that his paranoia was gone, the plants that were around him started to look more vibrant, it got brighter despite the sun almost starting to set since it was nearing six o'clock, and he was humming some of the tunes in his headphones, when he had heard footsteps from behind him, his paranoia had immediately gone off from the sound of the footsteps, but his voice of reason had made him realize that that would be ridiculous, it was just someone passing by, people do that in the garden all the time, why would he be paranoid this time?

But this pit in his stomach and this paranoia were still in the back of his mind, but he had managed to keep it under control, but the footsteps got closer, which made him slightly nervous but he just thought that the person walking by was simply near his area, but when the footsteps stopped, he had nearly looked back but didn't because he didn't want to make the naive mistake of looking back because of a silly little voice screaming quietly in his head that something was wrong, he had trusted his gut before but this time his gut seemed like it was pointing him in the wrong direction, so he had ignored ever warning sign that he could.

And that's when it finally happened, he was moving some of the dirt around with his shovel so that he could adjust the area in which one of the plants was, when he suddenly felt something come near his head, then

...BANG! He didn't even have the time to process or feel any type of pain when his vision went white, then black and darkness...

When Todd had awoken, he had woken up to a blurry vision of a dimly-lit trophy room, the first thing that he felt before being able to process anything was a sharp pain running through the back of his head to the front of his head so much so that it was almost unbearable, but that was the last thing that he was worried about after his vision finally unblurred, he had finally realized where he was, he had looked around confused and more of all in pain, and most of all completely terrified. He had tried to rub his eyes, look for clocks, pinch himself multiple times, and flick himself but all that did was give him pain in multiple places besides his head and let his terror completely set in. He was horrified to realize that he was not in some weird villain room but instead his paranoia about being in the odd squad was officially confirmed.

All the boy wanted to do was scream his lungs out of pure terror, but of course, that would cause too much of a scene and the last thing he needed was to get a code: odd todd called on him and someone eventually found out. He had looked up and seen that Ova, was not yet in the trophy room, and since she usually got there earlier than most of the other agents, he could only assume that most of the other agents weren't there either, but he had to find a way out of the trophy room and into a hiding spot. And a good one at that.

He had tried to keep as low of a profile as physically possible with slightly blurred vision and almost unbearable pain, once he got out the door he saw that no one else was in the office besides Ms. O, who was too far to see him since she was getting her stuff together and getting her juice pile ready, choosing which flavor would be the best for her mood. All of the memories came flooding back like a tsunami, almost physically consuming him, the memories of his former partner, how she is now, the memory of him resigning after getting fired, the Pienado, all of it. The guilt hit even harder, especially with the memory of Olive actively defending him while he just handed over his badge.

Then the realization hit Todd like a train, what was he even wearing right now? Now he needed to find a mirror and fast. Preferably a full-body mirror but no one carries that into headquarters casually unless it's for a reason, so a regular mirror would do. He was frantically searching until he found one just lying there on an agent's table, since he technically was only going to use it for a couple of moments, did it matter who owned it?

He grabbed it swiftly and looked at himself in the mirror, the first thing he noticed was that he still had his regular hair color but in his old hairstyle, odd. But when he panned the mirror down to see what his outfit looked like, he nearly had a heart attack, he was wearing his old outfit without a badge, now not only was he in headquarters but he was dressed like an agent without a badge, now he would get in even more trouble if heaven forbid someone saw him in this type of state. And even if he were to be able to sneak past, how would he be able to make it a single day without someone noticing that he was "Odd Todd" with his reputation, that notice would never just be a stare. But, there was one place that he could hide in and get out Scott free from, the hiding spot in the lab, but first, he would need to gather papers because talking would be the last thing he could do with how recognizable his voice is. At least until he could get a voice changer gadget or be able to naturally change his voice.

He raced across the headquarters as fast as one can when crawling and looked around for papers and some scissors, he took stacks of papers from various desks and got to work on making them into little slips of paper that he could give to people, but also keeping some the way they were in case he needed to write a letter to someone, and postcards if he wanted to write a quick message or needed to talk. The goal was to get a gadget where he could make a full face mask except for eyes, a small thing for a nose, and preferably not a mouth. The spot was quite big and cozy, so he could easily take a nap until the afternoon since he still needed sleep outside of being knocked out. He heard footsteps approaching the lab area and he was petrified at first, but after a couple of seconds, he realized that his paranoia was even more ridiculous than when he was in the garden because at least then his paranoia got confirmed. Plus, he was in the hiding spot in the Lab of course there would be footsteps it was probably oscar teaching Oona the works around the office or making new gadgets, that's what was allegedly happening when he overheard Olympia and Otis conversing about Oona improving so much since she was first hired. The whole time he was listening it felt like he was going back into his thoughts because when it was him there, there was no Oona, there were no watches, and no risk when he was in the headquarters.

He felt his eyes getting heavy like someone was using a reverse pulley on his eyes and was slowly pulling up. all the metal and blankets around him were going blurrier and blurrier by the second. The air conditioner was blasting near him so he reached for a blanket the feeling of a fluff warm blanket brushed against his hand, and he grabbed it and laid it down he slipped under, taking the sides of the blanket not touching his body and tucking it under him so he was wrapped like a roomy burrito, except for his hands so that he could grab more stuff, he reached for a pillow so that he wouldn't be sleeping on the hard metal and preferably an eye mask and headphones.

He didn't see the eye mask, but he saw a pair of makes-shift headphones with a music device, probably because there wasn't any technology outside of watches, gadgets, and miscellaneous stuff that is approved by Ms. O, and/or The Big O. The music device had a feature to search for and search for music, and to put music on repeat as well as shuffle, not as many features as say any outside technology, but good enough.

Todd slipped on the headphones and was surprised to realize that not only were they surprisingly comfortable seeing that they had a nice soft material for the cushioning but they were also noise canceling which was exactly what he needed at the moment considering the ruckus that would be going on in headquarters. He had searched and found some calming instrumentals for some songs that he found calming, arranged a playlist of sorts, and figured out there was a feature to have one or multiple songs repeat and then have the others play like normal in order.

He used that feature to his advantage choosing to repeat one song for 15 minutes so that he could fall asleep then have several calming songs play afterward then have one song repeat at the end.

After the first song had repeated for about a minute he felt his vision go dark and then he fell into a sweet slumber. In his first dream was a haze of color as he walked through a room of tables that looked eerily like the cafeteria that he used to be in except there was no agent Oksana, ordering menu, or other agents, just a blank room with an unknown light source. And then the ground beneath him started to spiral down into a more confusing dream which was a state of flashing lights, and blurry visions of his old self working at odd squad before everything fell out of his hands like poorly held liquid. Visions of his old partner before she had started working with Otto. And a third and final dream started to fade in of what had happened before his paranoia was confirmed and his gut feeling was validated. And it seemed to be like a broken record replaying in his mind, all the possibilities of what could've happened, all the scenarios where things went different, like ones where he had listened to his gut, one where he had let the fear get the best of him, ones where he had fought back and ones where nothing had happened at all and there was no fear to be had, just his routine of farming, chatting, listening to music and going home feeling satisfied.

The rest was a haze of color, and the sound of music playing in his ears. Then Todd started to wake up, his vision white and blurred, the quiet sound of piano instrumental mixed with rain and backing vocals filling his ears and mind. In the far and blurred part of his peripheral vision, he could see someone taking a nap, it was Oona. Except she hopefully had no idea that he was there sleeping so that he could get some proper rest, he had hoped to the above that this nap of his was a few hours long at most, so that he could survive the rest of the day with all the stuff he needed.

The boy had reached into

his pockets and found the pieces of paper, and a pencil that he had put in his pocket, now he just had to get out, but how? The walls of the bunker were roomy, yet small, and in the process of trying to not forget his dreams and write them down, he had already forgotten the entrance, now he needed to get out of this bunker and fast.

His mind was racing with where the entrance could be, but then he saw Oona's eye open from the long distance in between them, and now it was really time to be getting out since he had seconds at best, and then he found it, the exit, he had gotten out of these dizzyingly fast. Todd's body hit the floor with a thud and he felt a pain in his back and shoulders, but this was not the time to be in pain, he needed to either go somewhere else or obtain a mask, and preferably some hair dye so that he could at least temporarily give up his regular hairstyle, he was lucky enough to see that everyone was on their break and thus not in the main area. Then the puzzle pieces clicked, since it was break time for everyone, Oona was most likely taking a nap because that's a thing she does on break. It all made sense, however, this was the last time that he should be celebrating over common sense. Thankfully when he looked at his wrist, he had seen the new octagon shape in the middle of his new watch, and he had seen that it was 12:45, almost time for everyone to come back and more importantly, Oscar to come back, but for now, he needed a face covering and preferably a way to hide his hair or at the very least the white streak.

He had found something that covered his head and he fitted a piece of paper to his face, and now he was more than ready to be able to face oscar and most likely Oona as well since he could only assume that by this point they were attached at the hip or something close to that, his guess wouldn't be the most off, technically. He had cut out some eye holes for his eyes but put some film so that his eyes would be obscured, but he could see out of it. It was against the odd squad policy to have a mask that covered your whole face including your eyes because then it would obstruct your vision and then you wouldn't be able to fight odd. Remembering this, he decided that it would also be a good decision to make at least a nose hole so that he could breathe out of this mask properly

After the face mask was completed, Todd looked around to see that people were starting to pour in, he had only then realized that the time had passed already and break time was now over. This meant that he wouldn't be able to eat until the day ended or by some miracle Ms. O decided to extend the break to a double break. Which seemed out of this world, but it had happened a scattered number of times, usually on holidays or just those lucky days, he could count every one of those days and was hoping that today he would strike lucky, but to no avail all the silent praying he did in his head just made him realize he had a headache. But at this point, was the headache from the impact of potentially getting struck on the head, or was it from the fact his body was making it seem like he hadn't eaten in 100 years? Either way, his head was starting to hurt, but he saw Oscar approaching the lab with his usual sort of look on his face, Todd had crouched behind the counter so that he could hide from Oscar's presence. Oscar was never the type to look around at stuff so he would be safe from suspicion, he was reaching in his pockets for the paper and pencil so that he could write his replies and speech.

When Oscar got to the table, he looked around and started to work on making his latest gadget, the gadget-finder-inator which was important that he didn't mess up because the point of the gadget was to find all gadgets, one wrong move and it only works if you're trying to find the tomato-inator. Todd thought that at this point it would probably be best to get up since it was starting to strain his legs being in this crouching position for so long, he hoped and prayed that it was oscar that was behind the counter. He started to get up slowly but still, his presence was a jumpscare to Oscar and he nearly dropped his tools. Oscar nearly yelled at him for nearly making him mess up, but his face had trouble and scary written all over it, so he decided it was not worth it to test this new kid. He was so busy staring at this kid's face that he wasn't able to realize that his badge seemed to be missing.

"Hello, I'm Oscar, what seems to be the issue, do you need a gadget? Or perhaps need a gadget repaired?" Oscar stared at the unmoving kid and opened his mouth to say something but then he saw Todd take out a piece of paper from seemingly nowhere, as well as a pencil. So he stopped questioning and just started to wait for this kid to write his response. As todd held the paper, his hand was slightly shaking, his pencil moved swiftly on the small piece of a flash card. His response to Oscar was simply just "Hello." He handed the piece of paper to Oscar and saw Oscar's eyes move swiftly when reading, which was a trait Todd noticed about Oscar, he was a fast reader. When he was done reading, he looked slightly confused, "So do you need anything or did you just come here to talk to me?" Oscar waited for a few seconds before he saw the kid writing on this time another flash card. Todd then handed Oscar the piece of paper that he was writing on that read "I need a mask-inator, and a Hair-color-change-inator and preferably as quickly as you can" Oscar then started moving around presumably to find the gadgets that Todd was requesting, while Todd was looking at oscar confused and slightly annoyed, oscar said "I do have the gadgets I just have to try and find it, now that I think of it, I probably should've started the production of the gadget-finder-inator sooner so this wouldn't happen"

When oscar had finally found the two gadgets he was prompted to ask what this kid was going to do with these gadgets and why he needed them in the first place, Todd had to hold back and not say that he needed the two gadgets because he was Odd Todd and needed to hid his identity so that people wouldn't call 'Code: 43' on him or something like that, and instead just replied, "I wanted to change my hair color to something more normal since I accidentally used a color-change-inator on my hair while trying to solve a case," "Well I'm not gonna ask who but that seems tough, here are the gadgets," When the words exited Oscar's mouth he wanted to scream with joy, but then that made him realize, why was he so excited to be able to blend in and be an agent again?

Oscar handed Todd both of the gadgets and asked, "do you want me to put on the mask for you and change your hair color for you, or do you want to just do it yourself?" Todd pondered for a moment if it would be worth it for Oscar to see his actual face or even worse see his actual hair. Then he realized it would not be worth it for him to do that. So he wrote on the piece of paper "No, I prefer to do it myself, and do you have a place that I can duck behind with your permission?"

"I guess you can duck behind one of the tables over there," Oscar pointed to the groups of tables in the distance, Todd ran to one of them and ducked and looked three times to make sure that Oscar was not looking in his direction, not to his surprise though, Oscar had gone right back to working on his gadget and not looking anywhere near Todd. He carefully took off the lazily made paper mask and felt the cool lab air brush against his face, he had also taken off the hat and felt the wind run through his hair. He pointed the mask-inator towards his face, and then zapped himself and he felt an almost metal texture across his face, and he had pointed the hair-color-inator towards his head, he nearly zapped himself but forgot o adjust the color, he had picked his natural hair color which was dark brown, he had zapped himself and now all he needed was a mirror to confirm that he had zapped himself correctly, he had placed back the hat and walked over to the counter where Oscar was working, he slipped a note to Oscar stating "do you have a mirror, I need to make sure that I zapped myself properly with the hair-color-change-inator."

The scientist looked away from what he was currently doing and looked over to the note that Todd had slipped him, he saw the new mask that was on the boy's face and saw that it was gold color He also noticed that the boy still had the same look in his eyes, but this time it had seemed… more familiar than last time that he had seen this boy's eyes, almost like he had seen this agent before, but he brushed it off because at this point everyone's eyes looked familiar to him. He had handed Todd a mirror so that he could see what he had looked like.

Todd grabbed the mirror but didn't immediately look in the mirror because he needed to first check his face and then his hair and god forbid he made a mistake, that would mean automatic catastrophe, he looked for the table he had previously ducked at, then realized that he made one major mistake, he forgot to thank oscar, so he quickly rushed to the table and wrote a note that said "I'm so sorry I didn't remember but thank you so much for the gadgets and the mirror, that was so kind of you, and I'm sorry if I look suspicious it's not intentional," He had slipped the note to Oscar and crouched behind the previous table, he had realized he was never that apologetic to anyone in his life, let alone an agent, let alone oscar out of all people. By this time, Oona had come out of the bunker and started to help Oscar with his gadget, when Todd looked in the mirror, he was glad to know the gadget had worked.
Now he was able to not have to hide his hair anymore and he had this mask that made him look mysterious and hid his identity perfectly when he was about to leave the office, Oscar finally took a second glance and saw that he didn't have a badge and nearly called a code gold, which is the code for when there is an agent in the headquarters, but he was feeling sympathetic because this agent had probably gone through enough, so instead of calling 'Code Gold' on Todd, he had instead just decided to take the agent to Ms. O herself to get this dealt with privately.

"I see that you don't have a badge, unfortunately, you're going to have to come with me since you're an unregistered agent, don't worry I'm not going to call code gold on you because you're not doing odd, and the security guards are always looking for a reason to drag people out of headquarters and exile them, don't tell Ms. O I said that,"

Oona agreed with him because she had a couple of experiences with the security guards and all but one were terrible, she nodded her head in agreement

Todd simply nodded but internally was on code freaking out, because now it had been less than a day since he had been in headquarters, most of that time hiding or sleeping and now he was going to go straight to Ms. O's office where she's going to find out his true identity and then he was going to be exiled even worse than he had already been. He could already feel his paranoia come back to him and his head started to throb more, and for a single second started to feel tears well in his eyes because of how ashamed he felt that he was here in the first place and now not only was he lying to get gadgets to disguise himself but now he was about to get sent to Ms. O herself who already hates his guts.

"By the way, what is your name, so that I can tell Ms. O who you are," The tone in his voice was serious but still trying to hide his inner cowardness. Todd however was scared out of his mind when the words slipped out of his mouth. Oscar had his arm around his shoulder to keep him steady since he had already noticed that he was starting to stumble and the last thing Oscar needed was to have this unregistered agent collapse and he get all the blame for it.

"Uh, Opollo, that's my name," Todd said in his quietest shyest voice, but subtly trying to distort his voice so that he wouldn't be recognized immediately.

"I didn't hear all of that can you repeat that," The glaring stare that Oscar had softened to a sympathetic look,

"My name's Opollo," Todd said in a less quiet but more forced voice the tremble in his voice being more apparent now.

"Oh that's a pretty cool name, also I need you to know one thing," Oscar held Todd slightly closer and Todd tilted his head to look at him. He glanced back at Oona who was warming up to start working on the new device.

"I'm not taking you to Ms. O to get you dragged out by security guards, I'm taking you to Ms. O's office so that you can be a registered agent and start fighting odd," Todd had never had someone talk that kind to him even when he was an agent, and behind the mask, he felt a smile creep up on his lips, and his facial expression softened from his usual angry and crazy stare to one of calm and mellow.

For once he felt safe in the headquarters, and even if then he would not budge for a single second, he was now all willing to go to Ms. O's office, even if it meant turning himself in.
