"Ginny," Hermione blurted, cautious of who else in the common room may overhear.
"Yes, Hermione?" Ginny replied, looking up from her Potions book.
"I have something to tell you…" Hermione hesitantly started, "and you have to promise me you won't tell anyone…"
"A secret? What is it?" Ginny oh-so-casually inquired.
"I'll tell you if you promise not to tell," Hermione stressed.
"Ok, ok, I promise. Now tell me," Ginny urged.
"Ok, so you know the Yule Ball?" Hermione started.
"No, Hermione, I have no idea what you are talking about,"
"Well," Hermione continued, ignoring Ginny's sarcastic comment, "you know how I didn't have a date before?"
"Did Harry ask you?" Ginny asked worriedly.
"No, not Harry…" Hermione continued, "but it was—"
"RON! I knew he'd finally ask you! He's had it bad for you in ag—"
"NO! It wasn't Ron!" Hermione shouted, "And what do you mean, he's had it bad for me?"
"Well, you are practically the only girl he talks to very much. Not to mention, you are the smartest witch of your age, you have gorgeous eyes—"
"Oh, shut up, no I don't," Hermione said, uncomfortable with so much flattery for one day.
"You do, too," Ginny said, but as Hermione was about to reply, continued, "Well anyway, out with it. Who asked you to the Ball?"
"Viktorkrum," Hermione mumbled quietly, blushing.
"I'm sorry, who?" Ginny inquired.
"Viktor Krum. Viktor Krum asked me, Hermione Granger, to the Yule Ball," Hermione said, with a bashful, yet inexplicably happy smile on her face. Ginny, too, grew an incredibly radiant smile on her face, and began screaming in addition to jumping up and down. Just then, Harry and Ron walked through the portrait.
"Ginny, what are you on about now?" asked Ron, perturbed with his younger sister's mad antics.
"Oh, nothing Ronald" Ginny said, just before pulling Hermione to her dormitory to discuss this matter further, squealing the entire way about Krum.
"What's Ginny on about, mate?" asked Harry.
"Oh, something about Krum. Probably had eye contact with the guy or something," Ron said, still confused.
"Or maybe he asked Hermione to the Yule Ball," suggested Harry.
"You must be off your rocker! Hermione'll probably just go with one of us. Krum wouldn't asked her," Ron said, "Would he?"

Well there you go. I was inspired to write this by the end of Llewlyn's "A Quiet Place to Study" and wrote in about 20 minutes ago (it's 1:38 a.m. for me her in Pittsburgh (LET'S GO PENS!)), so it'll definitely not be the best work of fanfiction ever, but hopefully, it won't be too shabby. I'm much better with English class essays on character development or something like that. I'm not very good with narratives… besides one I got 100 on for Don Quixote. But that's just because I'm a great English student (besides the fact that I have horrible grammar). XD.
