Spoilers: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Pairing: Jack/Elizabeth, or perhaps here it's Elizabeth/Jack...

Summary: Elizabeth's thoughts on a certain scene from the movie, just before the title's line.

I don't own Jack, Elizabeth, or the Black Pearl, but if I did, they'd have a wonderful time pirating not just the Spanish Main, but the entire ocean...

This isn't a game anymore. Somewhere in the back of her mind, the thought registered, but she didn't dwell on it long. This was one of those moments—not a moment to do the right thing, but an opportune moment, to be seized immediately.

Right here, on the deck of the Pearl, with the smell of the sea in the air, and the brilliant blue water all around, Jack Sparrow—Captain Jack Sparrow—is going to kiss me. This was how it was supposed to be. She couldn't imagine it any other way.

I'm the only thing in the world for him right now. She knew she had been tempting him, seducing him even. That he most likely would not be able, or would not want, to resist her. And she could see that she was right. So she watched through hooded eyes as he moved his hand up to stroke her hair away from her neck.

I'm dirty and grimy and must look awful, yet here he is making me feel more desirable than I ever did in those awful dresses and corsets. The tension between them sang. He leaned closer, practically touching her now.

He...he backed away. He stopped. He stopped! He's not supposed to stop. I...I didn't want him to stop...She longed to voice her protests, but knew she musn't. She was Elizabeth Swann, daughter of the governor of Port Royale, and—oh God—the betrothed of William Turner. She did not want to be kissed by a pirate. She did not want to kiss a pirate...

"I'm proud of you, Jack."

A/N: This whole thing really came out of left field for me, but I am rather pleased with how it turned out. She really did look disappointed when he didn't kiss her at this point of the movie, and so this little POV piece found its way through my head. Although I haven't seen really any piece exploring this before, I've been inspired by many wonderful JE fics on this site. Kudos to all of them!
