Hey I'm back again, and I come bearing good news well actually both good and bad. The bad news is that I've got to use my time wisely and I should focus more on obtaining an internship for my upcoming class January/February since the deadlines are quite strict.

However, GOOD NEWS is that I found out that my classes actually don't start until after thanksgiving, talk about having something to be thankful for…pun intended. Which means that now have an extra week to get another chapter in.

Originally, I was planning to make this one big chapter but I've decided to just end with the season 3 finale.

KATHERINE WILL RETURN IN THE NEXT CHAPTER I HAD TO PUSH IT BACK A CHAPTER, AND IT WILL BE AN EPIC RETURN.

Meantime, enjoy!

Thankfully and yet surprisingly when Hayden decided spill his guts and tell his grandma Sharon the crazy fucked up truth behind what he…really is. And more importantly what goes on around Mystic Falls between Vampires, Werewolfs, Witches, Ghosts, and one Doppelgänger. She didn't really give much of a reaction like the ones that Hayden had already played out and prepared for in his head.

As a matter of fact he was the one who gave a reaction when he learned that his own werewolf heritage comes from her side of the family, meaning that his father had the werewolf gene, and so did she. Which of course doesn't make sense consider that if you knew his grandma like he did then you'd understand why, guess you could blame it on old age, but she just seemed so…calm?

Not that he's trying to misjudge her or anything but in the time that's he's known her his whole life and that, when you have the werewolf gene there is at least suppose to be some heightened aggression or prone to violence.

She didn't have either of them.

If she did then he guesses she's had a lot of practice of her anger management issues. Than again he is an omega, so if his grandma is part of the same breed then that means she has more control over her other side just as him.

She even knew about the secret founder's council, and how believe it or not his grandma and grandpa used to be a part of it. That was until they thought that they wanted their kids…namely his dad. Not to be a part of it, it's kinda one of those classic 'we only wanted a better life for so & so' you know how that line goes. But Hayden understood, no wonder his family lived all the way out in the land of 10,000 lakes.

But what really got the hybrid so emotional was how, despite what he had become and what he did, it didn't change how she saw her grandson. She of all people knows the real value behind what a person is and who a person is, and not to confuse the two.

That seemed to bring a few tears of joy out of Hayden.

Of course, then the next day Hayden got a phone call from Caroline, who filled him in on Elena's little spell or whatever that landed her ass in the hospital. Just to be sure that it was nothing she asked him if he wouldn't mind helping out to make sure that Alaric wasn't going to try anything.

So he, Tyler, and Matt who also were called in on this to lend a hand got Elena outta the hospital and back to her own house with Caroline by her friend's side. She really was falling into that whole personal nurse role or whatever.

Matt and Tyler were the first to enter their eyes already scanning the living room and the stairs for any signs of one psychopathic hunter. Hayden entered next already using his heightened senses to see if anything pinged his radar, luckily there wasn't…for now anyways.

"Couch." Caroline ordered to Elena.

Elena rolled her head back and gave and amused yet whiny groan. "I'm fine, I just…I want something to eat first." She requests.

"We're on it, just as soon as we make sure no one's lurking in the closets." Tyler assures the doppelgänger.

Hayden shook his head turning to his fellow hybrid and one of the few remaining human friends they have left who's still alive, Matt.

"No, no, no. You guys scope the place out and I'll play chef for now." Hayden tells them.

Matt and Tyler give him a look to see if he's sure and a simple nod from the rogue confirms it as the two boys go in separate directions. Matt up the stairs on the second and Tyler on ground level.

Caroline rolls her eyes, "Alright, we'll get your food, but couch…now!" She repeats with authority.

The blonde vampire releases her hold on Elena to grab a nearby blanket on the smaller couch in the TV room.

Elena unleashes another groan throwing her hands up a bit, "Ugh, I told you guys, I'm fine!"

Hayden shrugs his shoulders with his hands in his pants pockets. "Don't worry Elena, I believe you. Pretty sure that if my life was literally bonded to someone else's who has some psychotic anger management issues that likes to go on suicide runs, I'd feel fine too." Sarcasm clear as day in his voice.

This earns him a chuckle from Caroline and a grunt from Elena.

She walks into the living room and plants herself on the couch. Where Caroline and Hayden follow and the blonde throws the blanket in her hands over her friend's body.

"Doctor says, rest. So rest!" Caroline orders.

"Alright, so what'll it be on tonight's menu, madam?" Hayden asks brunette with a bit of a butler accent.

Elena says nothing, so Caroline makes some options for her, "Do you want some tea? Maybe some Vodka?" She says suggestively.

Elena gives Caroline a sly smirk for that one.

"Both with help you sleep." She recommends.

"And take your edge off." the hybrid adds.

Elena sighs, with her arms crossed over her chest.

Caroline sees this and rolls her eyes in exaggeration, then sits down on the end of the couch by her feet.

"I know, I'm being smothering. It's what I do."

"Well at least you do a good job at it, even when you don't need to, which is kinda the whole point of smothering I think." Hayden complements.

Caroline give him a glare, turning back Elena.

"No it's nice." Elena tells her.

She smiles at that, "I'm thinking…maybe tea with vodka." Caroline suggests.

Hayden gives the blonde an impressed look, "Oooh…double whammy, now we're talking."

Both girls shake their heads at him, but Elena nods at Caroline who goes off to the kitchen to get her the drink.

About a half an hour later the house was clear. Tyler and Caroline got called back by their moms and had to leave. While Hayden and Matt decided to stick around and keep a lookout for her. Plus, knowing his luck he might as well for now, since knowing luck he'll be roped back into this sooner or later so might as well be sooner. Besides he knows his grandma's okay, and he'll call her in a little bit to check in on her.

He's currently sitting in a chair looking at his phone when he starts to hear Elena moaning slightly, her eyes fluttering kind of, while tossing and turning.

Doesn't take much to figure out that she's dreaming.

Matt on the other hand is in the kitchen sitting at the table having some coffee.

A moment later Elena's eyes fly opened to find Hayden sitting there looking down at her with an amused expression.

"How ya doing? Have a nice nap?"

Elena sighs. "I guess you could say that, where is everyone?"

Hayden sits back in his chair. "Ty and Caroline had to bolt after their moms called them about something urgent, and Matt is having a cup of Joe in the kitchen." He answers.

"So, if you don't mind me asking what were you dreaming about?"

"Sophomore year." She bluntly answers.

Hayden arches an eyebrow at that, "Ah ha…you mean the year before normal shit went extinct?"

Elena chuckles at his wording. "Mmm-Hmm, it really was wasn't it." She agrees.

"I'm sorry you got involved in all of this, Hayden. I never meant for you to get stuck in middle of any of it."

Hayden let's out a soft chuckle, "You didn't string me along, Elena. How the hell were you supposed to know that I was a werewolf?"

She shakes her head, "No, that's not what I mean. I'm talking about me…all the drama that you've been dragged into, like Klaus using my blood to turn you into a hybrid, being forced to leave Mystic Falls because of Mikael, and everything that's happened because of Esther, The Originals, Alaric, the white oak stake…everything, it's all because of me!" Elena says her voice completely laced with guilt giving the whole, 'I've become a problem and burden to everyone and everything' speech.

The hybrid gives a small laugh, "You know, I think you may be over exaggerating a little bit. I mean while there may be one or two events that you mentioned somewhere in there that happened to me because of you. Still, aside from that…you can't blame yourself for things that may have happened because of you or not. I made my own choices, and I try my best to take responsibility for them on both ends, same as everyone else and what they choose to do, when this shit goes down." Hayden tells her.

Elena looks confused, "What do you mean?"

Hayden sighs, "What I mean is, you may have lit the match that started the fire, but when it comes down to it really, the ones that decide to throw the logs on and keep it going are at the ones I blame, not you Elena." He analogizes.

"Okay so maybe when the circumstances were against us both, yeah I may have blamed you. If you want an example, remember when you decided to help Esther kill the originals and Rebekah came after you in the caves, I was there. I knew that there'd be consequences I'd have to deal with, just because I'm a rogue doesn't mean I can't try and think things through, before going all savage badass on someone." He admits.

"It's funny you mentioned that because remember when you told me that what I was doing to Stefan and Damon. How you said that I was being cruel by not choosing one." Elena reminds him.

Hayden scrunches his face trying to ease the burden of what he meant back then. "Well…technically I think I said that for sure its selfish, but only cruel if you know you're never gonna choose between them.

"Still, you were right. I'm making that mistake with Stefan and Damon. It's not right, what I'm doing, I can't string them along either. I…I have to let one of them go." Elena admits her voice full of guilt and regret.

Hayden looks at the doppelgänger sympathetically. "Well sounds like you've got it all figured out, except for one thing…which one are you cutting ties with?" He asks genuinely interested in the answer.

Just then at that very moment coincidentally enough, that's when one of the Salvatore's…Stefan, walks right through the door.

Both Hayden and Elena turn their heads towards him.

Elena gets up from the couch and walks over to Stefan, hugging him.

Of course, Stefan explained that he wanted to be here to make sure that Alaric doesn't try anything.

That's when he and Matt decided to go off and start making dinner.

Elena just popped a squat back on that couch of her's. Throwing her head back letting out an exasperated groan.

"Is this really necessary, I feel like I'm being over coddled." She complains.

Stefan who's currently cutting up some peppers in the kitchen while Matt is shuffling the plates at the table, perks up.

"You're on house arrest. You're supposed to feel over coddled." Stefan informs her smugly.

"Who the hell use the word, 'coddled' anymore?" Hayden brings up from off to the side.

Matt finished setting out the plates and then walked into the living room, "Wouldn't it be easier if we just got you the hell out of town?" He asks frustratedly.

Elena gives something between a chuckle and a scoff. "And do what….Go in the run for the rest of my life?" She shakes her head, "No, thank you!" She clearly states.

That's when Hayden perks up, "She's got a point there, plus take it from a guy who's actually been on the run. Let me tell ya Matt, it ain't as easy as ya think, once you start it feels like you can never stop." He informs the quarterback.

After that, Elena makes it clear that she's had enough time being a couch potato and decides to get up and go walk around for a bit.

Once she's out of the room and out of hearing distance that's when Matt walks back into the kitchen to Stefan.

"You just gonna let her call the shots?" Matt asks, almost if he's just gonna stand there and let this happen.

Stefan just gives a passive shrug, "I'm letting her make her own decisions." He tells him.

"Even if they're wrong?" Matt questions.

"Nothing wrong with free will, Matt." Stefan argues walking up to the human. "You don't realize that till you lose it."

"Amen, to that." Hayden agrees with his arms crossed leaning against the doorway to the living room making his presence known to the others.

"Stefan?" The soft voice of Elena chimes in from down the hall.

All three boys turn their heads towards the front door to find Elena just standing there, and staring her back right in the face is no either than….Elijah Mikaelson?

A pit starts to form in Hayden's stomach whenever an original vampire decides to just waltz into your house like they own the place it is immediately bad news.

Well almost, every original. Aside from Rebekah that is but that's only if you're on her good side.

Stefan steps forward, "Elijah?" He says.

Elijah just nods. "Hello again." He greets.

"So what brings you to 'Casa Da Gilbert'?" Hayden asks.

Elijah gives him a stern look, "The news of Niklaus' defeat merely reached my ears. Same can be said about the news of my mother's monstrous creation successfully coming to life in yet another one of her feeble attempts to destroy us I am also well aware of." He explains.

The others share a knowing look.

"I may have departed from Mystic Falls, but that does not mean that I won't return when a grave threat is upon us. Which is what brings me to my current presence here tonight. I'd like to offer my assistance in creating a deal that will be beneficial for all of us?" Elijah offers.

The others nod and walk into the kitchen where each one of them takes a seat at the kitchen table. Elijah at the end, Hayden right next to him on the left side of the table and Elena sitting to his right a two seats down.

"Regarding this current dilemma with Alaric Saltzman, as I understand it. He wields the reborn white oak stake, the last remaining weapon that can kill myself and my siblings, but as I also understand it that weapon is not a part of him, which can be removed from the equation." Elijah leads on.

Hayden huffs, "Just what exactly are you getting at here?" He asks, being fed up with this proper cryptic bullshit.

"All we need is to take that stake away from him. Once he's been disarmed, the weapon's in my possession my family will scatter to the ends of the earth, and Alaric will follow us." Elijah proposes.

Stefan takes a seat next to Elena at the table. "And you'll just…run?" He quires.

Elijah nods, "We've done it before. Klaus and Rebekah spent the better part of a thousand years evading my father. What's another half century while Elena's able to live out the rest of her natural life?"

"All I ask is for one more thing, in return?" Elijah says.

"What's that?" Hayden asks.

"Niklaus."

Hayden's eyes nearly pop out as to the eyes of the others.

"Hell No! this ends negotiations, forget it. I'm drawing the line at insanity!" Putting his foot down.

The others aren't that far behind.

"We finally stopped him, Elijah. After everything that he's done to us I can't just let you bring him back." Elena makes clear.

"Elena's right. You see this right here…this is a 'time loop' do you know what that means, Eli?" Hayden asks the original.

"Do tell, Mr. Kerbex?" Elijah encourages in that factory tuned gentlemanly tone of his.

"It means that we're about to go through the same merry-go-round all over again with Klaus if we give him to you, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna go through another hell or put my grandma through one with that son of a bitch back on the loose!" Hayden states strictly, almost threateningly.

The others in the room can feel the seriousness and waves of fear hidden in his voice, or at least Elijah can.

"I give you all my word, I will not revive Klaus within yours, nor even within your children's lifetimes." Elijah assures the others.

"Perhaps, it'll finally teach him some manners." Elijah guesses.

"Even if your word is law, what about all the others who've crossed Klaus that have…endless lifetimes, hmm? Because there are quite a few vampires, werewolves, and witches that I'll bet have screwed him over or gotten on his bad side that he'd like to get some payback on the moment you let him out of his cage?" Hayden questions.

Elijah gives the rogue a unsteady look. "I will do everything in my power to ensure that, Klaus' lust for power and vengeance do not endanger the lives of others."

"Why should we trust you?" Matt interjects, "All you've done is screw her over." He points out.

Hayden looks his way with his arm out gesturing towards him, concurring.

"And for that, I'm deeply ashamed." Elijah says regretfully, "But know this, she could have been dead the instant I walked through that door tonight, so Elena I leave it to you to make the decision, whether to trust me or not." He concludes.

'Not!…Hello? Did that concussion give you brain damage? His lunatic siblings will kill you first chance they get?" The voice of Damon enters into the conversation over the phone on speaker. Elena called him a few minutes ago, she wanted him to know what's going on.

"I promise you, Rebekah and Kol will honor the terms." Elijah reassures.

"'Promise' or 'guarantee' cause there is a difference only one of those means that their 100% on board, Eli?" Hayden chastises.

"If you return Klaus' body to us, Elena will come to no harm."

"Do we have a deal?" Elijah asks.

"No! No, no, no, no. Did I mention, no!" Damon repeats in annoyance.

Stefan sighs, defeated. "Elena, it's up to you."

Elena gives him a look.

"Oh, come on?" Damon chastises.

Hayden gives a disapproving look. "Once again, I can't believe it but I'm team 'Damon' on this one."

"Thank you, at least there's one voice of reason here." Damon thanks the hybrid over the phone.

"I mean come on you guys, think about it I mean if we have him and know where he is…seriously, after all the constant fuck-ups we've had I think it's safe to say at this point the safest hands are only our own." Hayden argues.

"Excellent point, once again everyone listen to the voice of reason." Damon adds over the phone.

"Why do you want Klaus' body?" Elena urges Elijah.

"He's my brother, we remain together." The original claims.

Elena gives a deep sigh, "We have a deal." She agrees.

Of course step one of the plan requires some help from a certain friend.

Apparently Alaric confronted Jeremy earlier at the Mystic Grill. Tried to turn him to the dark side and all that, get him to sell out the vampires.

Alaric was still currently at the grill having a glass of alcohol, when his phone rang the name 'Jeremy Gilbert' written on the screen.

"Yes?" Alaric answers.

"I know where Klaus' body is." Jeremy announces on the other end of the line.

"Tell me." Alaric demands.

"Damon's on his way to bury him in the woods off Route 12. Ill text you with the specifics." Jeremy replies.

"Thank you, Jeremy. You're doing the right thing for your sister." Alaric gratefully states.

Jeremy hangs up the line a second later. But little did Alaric know that all the others were in the room with him making sure their plan was put into motion.

"He bought it." Jeremy confirms.

"Hook, line, and sinker!" Hayden comments with a smirk.

Of course, as always everything went to hell as Alaric found Damon, and more importantly where they were hiding Klaus. And……he killed him.

At first Hayden was just waiting for the doomsday clock to strike 0 you know seeing as Klaus created his bloodline. But about an hour passed since the bastard bit the dust or in this situation ashes and for some reason…. he didn't feel any different.

That's when Hayden's phone rang, "Hello?"

"Hey, Hayden how are you doing?" The voice of Tyler rang out on the another end of the line.

"Ty, you're still alive so that's good to know, at least now I know that I'm not the only one that didn't go down with the ship." Hayden says with relief, considering that he's still trying to figure out why the two of them aren't pushing up daisies in a graveyard.

"I know, it's a miracle isn't it." Tyler agrees enthusiastically.

"Don't worry, mate. We'll figure this out soon enough, until then just relax." Tyler suggests assuringly.

Hayden gives the other hybrid a scoff at that, "You're kidding me right, Ty? Caroline already filled me in, the whole town council knows that we've been right under their noses this whole time and it ain't gonna be long before they're out to get us, that's why you need to get her and-"

Hayden doesn't finish as he cuts himself off and his facial expression freezes.

"Hold it…did you just call me, mate?" He questions.

"Uh, guess I did sorry. Don't know where that came from." Tyler apologizes.

That's when the lightbulb goes off, "Wait a minute that thing witch thing that Esther does when she jumps into someone else's body, she isn't the only witch who can do that can she?" He asks lowly.

A small smile begins to form on Tyler's face. "No, no she isn't. Like take Bonnie for example."

The gears start to turn and not in a good way at all.

"You…it's you." Hayden says.

"Say my name?" Tyler requests.

Only one word makes its way past Hayden's lips.

"Klaus!"

"Bravo, Hayden…bravo indeed. You honestly, are much smarter than I originally was lead to believe you'd be." Tyler/Klaus congratulates.

"Did you really believe that, I can be killed that easily? I'm the Original Hybrid, Hayden." Tyler/Klaus boasts.

"Stop at this rate of flattering yourself, you'll be blushing redder than a sunburn."

"Seems that even a close encounter with death isn't enough to extinguish that poor sense of humor of yours. My spirit was merely, tucked away into Tyler's body for safekeeping, until the danger passed." Tyler/Klaus explains.

"Hence, that's why I ain't coughing up my own blood right now is it, or why the others haven't died or been affected either." Hayden sternly assumes.

"The only thing I can't figure out is why the hell would Bonnie wanna save your worthless ugly ass?"

"Well now that's a little harsh don't you think?" Tyler/Klaus asks giving a sarcastic feeling that it actually hurt.

"No, actually that's an understatement, if you want all ya have to do to get the rated M version is keep talking." Hayden informs him.

"But to simply put it, the answer is in the question."

It hits Hayden, "She was protecting the others."

"Tyler, here's a fresh batch of cookies straight from the oven a familiar female voice rings out in the background faintly on the other end of the line suddenly rings out.

Hayden recognizes that voice like the back of his hand.

Oh please, God! Don't let it be her?

"Why thank you very much, Sharon." Tyler/Klaus thanks.

"If you need anything else I'll be in the kitchen."

"Okay, thanks."

"She really is a sweet little old lady, isn't she?" Tyler/Klaus says on the other end of the line.

Hayden doesn't answer, his heart is pounding in his chest at the realization of where his enemy currently is.

"Well at least sweet enough to invite me into her house for a drink and a few cookies." Tyler/Klaus explains. Holding up a freshly baked cookie.

Tyler/Klaus takes a bite out of it, and gives an audible delighted moan, savoring the taste.

"Now if my memory serves me, correctly. Before you lot put me in that casket, I do believe I mentioned something about a punishment for your crimes against me, and certain penalties for what will follow, should you fail to uphold your end of our bargain." Tyler/Klaus reminds him with a malicious smirk.

Hayden pales into a pure white mask of terror.

"P…p-please I'm begging you, please don't hurt her!" Hayden says whimpering.

"Oh now now, my dear boy. Who said anything about hurting her? No, I'm going to mutilate her carcass and then I'm going to kill her…slowly and very painfully!" Tyler/Klaus seethes through his teeth with a hidden hatred for the rogue.

Hayden's heart drops as his completely goes into a full on panic attack trying not to cry, but failing spectacularly while making out incoherent noises as he keeps begging Tyler/Klaus not to do it.

"See you soon, Hayden." Tyler/Klaus snickers darkly.

He sets the phone down and his eyes turn yellow and bares his fangs and blurs towards the kitchen.

The only sounds that Hayden hears on the other end of the line is a scream followed by a bunch of static as the line goes to dial tone.

The rogue hybrid immediately drops the phone and bolts into a blur towards his grandmas house.

While inside his mind he's saying a silent prayer to God that he isn't too late…..

Sorry to end this on a cliffhanger but it seemed appropriate under the circumstances that helps me connect to the next chapter. Just as the season 3 finale ends on a cliffhanger with Elena becoming a vampire.

Again this chapter was supposed to be longer but it's taking too long and I want to update to make sure that I'm keeping this story on the mainstream trend. And also keeping my audience interested.

Expect the next chapter out by the earliest of Wednesday to the latest of next Monday.

Until next time.
