Skittery walked down the long hall toward the nurse's station. Every five steps he glanced over his shoulder to make sure nobody was spying on him. The cameras were watching his every move. He tried to angrily glare at one, but he just ended up sighing instead. He was where he needed to be.
Skitts didn't remember much about the night before. They were all over at David's place partying and having a grand old time. All of his friends had kept an eye on him the whole night, since he was still unstable. Once they were sufficiently drunk, most of the guys had started making out and passing out on the couches and beds. A wave of depression had suddenly washed over Skitts, mostly because Oscar wasn't there, but since nobody was watching him he made a break for it.
He had woken up in the hospital, with a group of doctors and nurses standing over him. They had all commented on how lucky Skittery was to be alive. He wasn't really paying attention to what they were saying – he was too busy trying to figure out who was spying on him. He wondered if his friends, who had presumably found him and brought him to the hospital, would bother telling Oscar where he was. For some reason, he remembered that Oscar had a gig tomorrow night and Skitty was going to miss it. Damn hospital.
Skittery spent most of the next four days alone in his room, laying face up on the bed just thinking about his past suicide attempts. He wondered if Oscar would still love him if he knew just how messed up Skitts was. A soft knock on the door snapped Skittery out of his reverie. As he padded to the door to open it, his heart skipped a beat. The doctors always knocked and then let themselves in. Nobody had entered yet. Skittery smoothed his hair, which hadn't been brushed in 3 days, and opened the door.
Oscar couldn't believe his eyes. What had this place done to his Skitty? He reached out with open arms and scooped up the suicidal boy in a giant bear hug. Skittery began to cry. Even though he was stuck in this hellhole hospital, he at least still had his Oscar, however strange the couple looked together. They would always have each other.
