Chapter 6
Cinderpelt woke up in the medicine den, seeing Leafpaw walking in this new camp will take quite a while to adjust to, but i'm sure i'll get used to it Cinderpelt thought, smiling up at Leafpool "Hello Leafpool" Cinderpelt purred "Hi Cinderpelt!" Leafpool squeaked and Cinderpelt smiled, yawning "It's a nice day, isn't it" Leafpool mewed "Yes it is" Cinderpelt purred, smiling at Leafpool warmy she's found our connection to Starclan and she will serve well as a medicine cat Cinderpelt thought, licking Leafpool's head, and seeing how tired she looked Cinderpelt put her paw onto Leafpools "Is something wrong?" Cinderpelt asked "No, i'm fine" Leafpool mewed "You've been tired for so long now, you know you can tell me anything" Cinderpelt said in concern, seeing a sad shine in Leafpool's eyes "Can you keep a secret?" Leafpool asked "Of course" Cinderpelt reassured her "I've been meeting with Crowfeather from Windclan at night, we've been mates for about at moon" Leafpool muttered, and Cinderpelt's ears pricked up "Well I can tell you can keep a secret so i'll tell you mine, i'm your mother Leafpool" Cinderpelt said, lifting Leafpool's head up with her paw and Leafpool gasped "That means- you are Firestar are-" Leafpool squeaked "Yes, we're mates Leafpool" Cinderpelt said, lashing her tail and Leafpool at up in shock "Is Squirrelflight also your kit?" Leafpool asked and Cinderpelt nodded, feeling like a heavy weight lifted off her chest "Should I tell her?" Leafpool asked "You can if you want" Cinderpelt mewed "But I still don't know what to do about Crowfeather, he wants to run away together but I'm not sure what to do" Leafpool sighed "It's all up to you, your destiny can be forged by your choices, what do you want to do, Leafpool?" Cinderpelt said, looking into Leafpool's eyes "I need time to think about it, since I still don't know what to do" Leafpool murmured "Take your time Leafpool" Cinderpelt purred, licking Leafpool's cheek "I think i'll tell Squirrelflight now" Leafpool mewed, walking out of the medicine den, and Cinderpelt walked out and into the leader's den where Firestar was eating a large thrush "Hello Firestar" Cinderpelt purred "Oh, hello Cinderpelt!" Firestar purred, signaling with his tail for her to sit by him and Cinderpelt laid by her mate's side "I've told Leafpool about us, and how she's our kit, but she has promised to not tell any cat other than Squirrelflight" Cinderpelt mewed nervously "I was considering telling them myself, it's been so long and they both deserved to know" Firestar said, gulping down the last of his thrush and Cinderpelt leaned her head on Firestar's shoulder "I love you Firestar" Cinderpelt purred "I love you too Cinderpelt" Firestar purred, pressing his chin on top of Cinderpelt's head "I think I should get some herbs, goodbye" Cinderpelt said, licking Firestar's cheek and walking out of the camp, walking across the territory she saw Crowfeather sitting at the border sadly "Hello Crowfeather" Cinderpelt said, picking up a few dock leaves "Oh- Hello Cinderpelt" Crowfeather said "You look tired" Cinderpelt said "I'm fine" Crowfeather insisted "Don't lie, I know" Cinderpelt said, looking into Crowfeather's eyes "About what?" Crowfeather hissed "You're mates with Leafpool" Cinderpelt said calmly, picking some small dandelions "How did you know?" Crowfeather screeched "She told me herself" Cinderpelt said, licking her paw "Oh, please don't tell Onestar! He'd tear my pelt off" Crowfeather whined "I wasn't planning to, i'm just getting some herbs" Cinderpelt mewed, grabbing some small strings of catchweed "Thank you" Crowfeather said, dipping his head "Just try to get some sleep now" Cinderpelt said, walking off back into the forest and grabbing many herbs and putting them into a large laurel leaf and walking back into camp she put the herbs into the herb storage, and she saw Squirrelflight walk into the medicine den "So Leafpool told you" Cinderpelt said "Yes, she did" Squirrelflight said, and Cinderpelt turned to Squirrelflight, her eyes shining, and Squirrelflight pressed her head onto Cinderpelt's shoulder, and Cinderpelt pressed one of her paws onto Squirrelflight's back "I love you my daughter" Cinderpelt purred, licking Squirrelflight's head "How did you hide it so well?" Squirrelflight asked "Well I just didn't tell any cat and refrained from being too affectionate, me and Firestar kept it a secret fearing you two would be made fun of" Cinderpelt said "Squirrelfight, you've been assigned to a border patrol" Cloudtail said, and Squirrelflight nodded, walking out of the medicine den with Cloudtail, and Cinderpelt sighed, and Leafpool walked into the den "I've made my choice, i'm going to leave with Crowfeather tonight" Leafpool said, pressing her head onto Cinderpelt's shoulder "I'll miss you Leafpool" Cinderpelt said, a tremble in her mew and tears welling up in her eyes "I'll miss you too Cinderpelt" Leafpool said, licking Cinderpelt's cheek "Just don't forget me my kit" Cinderpelt said, pressing her muzzle on Leafpool's head "I promise I won't" Leafpool said, sighing "Maybe one of Whitewing or Ferncloud's kits may be my next apprentice" Cinderpelt said, licking tears off of Leafpool's face as fresh ones fell from her eyes "It's odd to think this will be my last day in the clan" Leafpool mewed "It must be, well make the most of it" Cinderpelt said, nuzzling Leafpool's head "I will" Leafpool sniffed, walking out of the medicine den and Cinderpelt sighed I love her so much, but now my daughter is leaving me, i'll have Squirrelflight but it'll feel sad without Leafpool Cinderpelt thought, looking up at the bright sunhigh sky, tears welling up in her eyes. Cinderpelt walked into Firestar's den, seeing him sleeping calmly and peacefully Cinderpelt laid down beside him, wrapped her tail around this side and fell asleep, but woke up in Starclan "Hello Cinderpelt" a farmilliar voice said and Cinderpelt turned to face the cat "Lionheart!" Cinderpelt squeaked, dashing to her father's starry figure and nuzzling him happily "I miss you so much" Cinderpelt said, nuzzling Lionheart's cheek "I miss you too, but I do have something to say" Lionheart said, pulling back and Cinderpelt's paws shifted on the ground "Before you join our ranks you will save a life and join in with it, your heart will carry on." Lionheart said, fading into a starry mist "Lionheart! Come back!" Cinderpelt cried out, dashing to her father but as she leaped out to try and grab him back it was too late and she woke up, seeing how the sun was setting, and she saw Leafpool walking up to her "Goodbye Cinderpelt" Leafpool mewed, nuzzling her head and Cinderpelt licked Leafpool's cheek "Goodbye Leafpool" Cinderpelt gulped, tears streaming from her eyes and she licked her daughter's cheek for the last time as she walked out of camp, Cinderpelt walked into Firestar's den and laid down by her mate "What's wrong?" Firestar asked "Leafpool's left" Cinderpelt said, resting her head on Firestar's paw and Firestar wrapped his tail around her side and Cinderpelt smiled and licked Firestar's cheek "At least I have you and Squirrelflight" Cinderpelt said and Firestar rested his muzzle on top of her head and she slept peacefully and sadly. But soon Cinderpelt was woken by the sound of growling and screeching, and she ran out of Firestar's den "Badgers!" Cinderpelt cried loudly, leaping at a badger and clawing at its head she tore its ear off and it snapped at her and Cinderpelt bit and clung onto the badger's neck until it weakly fell down dead and Cinderpelt dashed off, badger blood still on her muzzle and teeth, fighting off badgers she heard Sorreltail screech in the nursery and Cinderpelt ran into the nursery and leaped at the badger that was threatening Sorreltail clawing at its face it screeched and bit her side, and Cinderpelt ran around the den to distract the badger from Sorreltail, dashing at the badger's side she smelled a familiar scent as she fought the badger "Leafpool?" Cinderpelt mewed, distracted long enough for the badger to have her pinned to the ground, Cinderpelt flailed her back legs helplessly trying to fight it off, the badger bit at her neck and she screeched loudly as she saw Leafpool leaping at the badger and killing it "Leafpool, you came back" Cinderpelt mewed weakly "Cinderpelt please… don't die…" Leafpool cried, tears falling onto Cinderpelt's fur, and Cinderpelt wrapped her paw around Leafpool's neck "It's time for me to die, I hope you will take good care of Thunderclan" Cinderpelt said weakly, giving a soft mew and going limp and her spirit rose up and she heard Leafpool wail loudly in despair and Cinderpelt walked up to her, pressing her starry paw on her daughter's shoulder and saw Leafpool taking her body out into the camp now badger free, and she walked up to Firestar "I'm sorry… she's dead" Leafpool choked out and he gave out a loud cry of despair he pressed his head onto Cinderpelt's cheek and Cinderpelt walked up to Firestar sadly, pressing her starry pelt on his "She can't he dead! She can't be!" Firestar wailed "I couldn't save her" Leafpool said sadly, laying down by Firestar wiping his cheek with her paw "Cinderpelt… no…" Firestar mewed sadly, crying into her dead pelt "I love you Cinderpelt" Firestar sighed and Cinderpelt looked at the clan and heard a gasp "Firestar, what do you mean?" Cloudtail asked, walking up to Firestar "Cinderpelt is dead" Firestar huffed, licking her gray pelt "But you said you loved her" Cloudtail said "I do, she loves me too" Firestar admitted "You were mates?" Cloudtail hissed "Yes they were" Squirrelflight said, walking up to Cloudtail "But it's forbidden" Cloudtail said "Yeah, and isn't leaving Thunderclan to be a kittypet forbidden too?" Squirrelflight questioned "That was a long time ago!" Cloudtail hissed "Leave us to mourn her, she's not your mother or mate" Squirrelflight hissed at Cloudtail and Brightheart walked up to him "Leave them, they're grieving" Brightheart said and Cloudtail pressed himself onto her side and walked off, and Cinderpelt rose up into the starry sky into Starclan "Cinderpelt" a familiar voice said "Yellowfang!" Cinderpelt squeaked happily, running to her former mentor "Hello Cinderpelt" Yellowfang said "I've missed you so much! I can't wait to spend the rest of my afterlife with you in Starclan and watching over Firestar" Cinderpelt said "Actually…" Yellowfang said "Did I do something wrong?" Cinderpelt asked anxiously "No, it's just that your spirit is going to be brought back as one of Sorreltail's kits, Cinderkit" Yellowfang said "What? But why?" Cinderpelt asked, arching her back "I suppose whatever makes prophecies figured you need to be" Yellowfang said "But I had a good life, why must this happen?" Cinderpelt asked "I am sorry, but I don't have a choice" Yellowfang said and Cinderpelt sighed "I suppose there's no point in arguing" Cinderpelt mewed and she floated down from the clouds and into the nursery with Yellowfang by her side "Goodbye Cinderpelt" Yellowfang said "Goodbye" Cinderpelt said, slowly falling into the small kits body.
