Author's Note: One of the most common questions I've been asked is how an outlier of a dragon such as myself came to befriend an outlier of a human. In fact, as the winters have gone by, it's gotten to the point that I've had some dragons come up to me and outright accuse me of lying about that story. I'm not particularly surprised I've been called a liar, but when so much of my life was shaped by those five winters I spent among humans, I'd be dishonest if I said it doesn't hurt somewhat. My best friend was a human and yet when it came to choosing the safety of both humans and dragons, we had no choice but to separate.
Equally, however, the dragons that the humans knew as Stormfly and Hookfang are two of my best friends now, and we've gone at length into how much it upsets us that this beautiful relationship we had with our respective humans that was snatched away from us is treated like folklore and old mates-tales. So here I am, making the decision to completely overshoot the mark of necessity. Yes, I actually took this as an excuse to write an autobiography. Realistically I could get away with only talking about my life from the moment I was captured to today, but to me that felt like it completely missed the point. Afterall, I have a full fifteen winters worth of story prior to my capture that's been left untold. A story which I have no doubt for myself will be troublesome to write, be it for emotional reasons or just not remembering the details well enough. However, I also have no doubt it will be troublesome for you to read. Before you begin, I would like to firmly state that various parts of this will be very difficult to read. I've witnessed some things I wish I hadn't, I was abused by dragons every step of the way, and I was treated as no more than an outlier in spite of my status as the last of the most feared dragons that's ever roamed the skies.
So, proceed at your own risk, but don't say I didn't warn you. Afterall, you chose to pick this up, if you see it through, it's your own fault if you ignore my warnings.
This has been translated for a potential human audience by a human named Jimmy. He will likely appear throughout the story instead of me sometimes to give little notes, but I owe most of the detailed writing credits actually to him, despite this being my story. He has his own story we don't have time to tell.
