I get into my car and take a few deep breaths as my headache resides. I drive off and turn onto my friend's street. I pull into the driveway and see my other friends already here.

'Good.' I thought. 'This will make it a little easier to tell them.' I get out and walk around to the basement door. I knock and walk in. DC looks up from his guitar and smiles. I nod at him and smile at my friend, Samantha.

"Hey. What's up?" Someone asks and I turn around. And feel my blood freeze. My ex-boyfriend, Todd Gilmore, is standing behind me and is smiling for all he's worth.

"The sky." I reply coldly and look around him. My cousin, Krystal, is behind him and I notice her holding his hand behind his back. I roll my eyes and walk over to DC. He lays his guitar down and stands up. He looks at my face and a confuse look comes over his.

"You ok?" He asks and rubs my shoulder with his hand.

"Can I talk to you out-side?" I ask and he nods. He grabs his leather bomber jacket and puts it on before following me out-side.

"Yeah?" He asks and rubs his hands. I shake my head to get the snow off it and say,

"I joined the Army." He looks at me for second and laughs.

"Yeah. Sure you did." He says and I look at him with astonishment. I cannot believe he's laughing at this. The guy who I've known since 2nd grade. Who knows everything about me. DC has always been there and now he's laughing at me.

"Oh my god! You're laughing at me. I don't believe it!" I say and turn around. I blink my eyes really fast to keep from crying and shake my-self. I feel someone come up behind me and their arms go around me.

"Oh, Dani! I'm sorry. It's just that you saying you've joined the army makes me feel bad and the only way I can cover it is to laugh. Especially after what happened to Dylan." He says and I turn around in his arms.

"I'll be ok, DC." I say and he nods his head.

"That's what Dylan always said. He was the bravest of all of us." He says and laughs. "I love you, Danielle."

"I love you too, DC." I say and hug him. Little did I know, he meant exactly what he said.
