Chapter 6: Lake Misuteri

A/N: Sorry, if I'm too slow to update, I'm kind of busy and working on speeches and an AMV. And hopefully, this'll end up being longer than every other chapter.

So no one told you life was going to be this way (four claps)

"Ok class, we're here! Now, you each have to share a bunk, ok? And do whatever you want, but then, after this trip, you have three days to write a report on it ok?" explained Misato.

"Kaworu, want to be my bunk buddy?" asked Shinji.

"Sure."

Hikari bunked with Asuka, Touji with Kensuke, and Rei with Mana.

They all quickly changed into their bathing suits and left to go with their plans.

"O-ok Touji, t-there's n-no such t-thing as a m-monster…" said Touji as he quietly swam.

"Touji, don't mind if you help me find sea shells?" asked Hikari swimming up to him.

Touji blushed a bit and scratched his head, "Sure, just as long as we don't got too deep…"

Hikari blushed too, "Don't worry, there can't be a monster!"

"If you say so…" and they went off to search for sea shells.

"Shinji-kun, what first, surfing or sea shell hunting?" asked Asuka as she and Shinji entered the water.

"I'd really like to just relax and find the sea shells," he proclaimed and went deeper into the water.

"Ok then, but tomorrow I expect something good!" and as Shinji began to swim, she jumped on his back.

"Whoa Asuka! You surprised me there!"

"Sorry, please just give me a piggy back ride!"

He just nodded and smiled as she rested her head on his shoulder.

Mana just got her towel ready and rested it on the sand, "Ah, nothing like a soak in the sun before swimming!"

"Hey there Mana!" said Kaworu coming over.

Mana turned red to see him wearing his deep blue swim shorts.

"You're bathing suite looks cute!" he said pointing to the nemo on her bathing suite.

"Thanks," she said blushing. But then she noticed he was looking at another girl passing by.

"Hello?"

"Oh, sorry. Are you just going to lay there the whole day?"

"Not really, I'm planning to swim later."

"What if you get burned?"

"Me? Naw, but thanks for your concern."

"If you say so." And he just walked across the beach.

Yawn… 'I guess a little nap won't do any harm, the trip here was exhausting.'

"Come on Kensuke! I know it's out there, but it wqon't wait for you forever!" yelled Rei as Kensuke swam over.

"I can't believe how excited she is, I never thought a girl would be interested in monsters."

And he quickly caught up to her and they were right in the middle of the lake.

"Why are you so excited about this anyway?" asked Kensuke.

She looked down and turned red, "I always loved urban legends, but never showed it, but whe I heard we were going here I just couldn't resist. Anyways, at least I'm closer to you!" and she winked as he blushed.

"Wow look at that one!" said Shinji picking up another shell.

"Hmph," said Asuka as she found another dull one.

"How do find such pretty and amazing shells?" asked Asuka again picking up her twelfth rock.

"I don't know, I guess it's just a gift."

"You have a lot of gifts Shinji," and she hugged him again. He kissed her on the forehead and smiled. She smiled back and continued looking for the shells.

"Eek!" yelled Touji.

"What?" said Hikari coming to him.

"What is that?" he yelled grabbing her hand.

"It's just seaweed…" she said.

"What? Really?"

He just looked at it and kept his grip on her.

She turned red realizing he was almost holding her hand. When he realized it, he quickly let go and apologized.

As Kaworu finished his swim, he went to check on Mana again.

"HOLY CRAP!" he yelled as he saw a now red Mana.

"Ow…What the?" when she looked at herself she screamed.

"I told you…" said Kaworu kneeling down next to her.

"Ouch this really hurts…"

He frowned at her and got worried, "I should get you into your bed…" and he carried her off.

"Kensuke, I don't see anything…"

"Me neither, don't give up though…"

"Ok…" but then a huge moaning was heard.

"Whoa, did you hear that?" asked Rei.

"Yeah, it's true!"

And they looked at each other and hugged. After they parted he blushed and she looked up into the sky. "Oh no, look, it's time to go."

"Wow, thanks for helping me Asuka, I got so many shells!" he carried a bucket full of pretty unique shells.

"You're the one who found it all…" she said sighing.

"But you just being there helped a lot."

She turned to him blushing and kissed him on the lips.

"Anything for you Shinji."

"Wow. Oh look it's time to return to our cabin."

At the cabin, Kaworu watcxhed over Mana, as the others came in.

"Whoa, what the hell happed to you Mana?" asked Asuka right after entering.

"Looks like a sunburn," said Hikari.

"Yeah, I warned her, but…"

"What? I just took a nap!"

"You're such a baka! Even worse than him!" and she pointed to Shinji.

"Hey!"

"Oh sorry."

"You must admit Shinji, you are stupid at times." Said Touji.

Shinji just glared at hjim.

"So Kensuke, did you and Rei find anything?" asked Hikari.

"Yeah!" exclaimed Rei.

"Yeah, Rei and I heard it!"

"The m-monster?" asked Touji.

"Well duh!" said Asuka rolling her eyes.

"Eek!" and Touji quickly hid in bed.

"Coward…" said Asuka.

"You can say that," said Hikari sighing.

"Well, tomorrow we're surfing so whatever, good night everyone."

Everyone just shrugged and went off to sleep.

The next day they all set off except for Kaworu who still looked after the burnt Mana. While Kensuke and Rei looked for the monster, Asuka and Shinji went surfing, and Touji and Hikari were sea shell hunting trying to avoid the monster.

"Ok then Asuka, just hang on as I find a good enough wave."

Asuka nodded and held tight to Shinji. But no, no waves were to be found, "Aww man…: said Asuka.

"Did you hear that Rei?" asked Kensuke.

"Yeah, it's the moaning again!"

But the moaning got louder and louder. Then the water began to shake.

"Uh-oh."

Kensuke grabbed Rei's hand as they raced to the shore.

"I hope that no one gets hurt."

"Whoa! Finally a wave! Come on Shinji let's go!" yelled Asuka as they headed deeper into the lake.

"Ok then, hang on tight!" and the wave began to rise higher and higher. Asuka's screams of joy turned into acual scared screams.

"Oh my gosh Shinji!" and she pointed to the huge fish.

"Oh no, not again!"

"Again?"

"I'll explain later now hurry up!" and he jumped off the board with her in his arms.

"This is why you're such a good swimmer."

"Yeah, ever since the first time I surfed I took lessons, now let's go!"

So they swam as fast as they could trying to get away.

Touji saw this and grabbed Hikari's hand and they ran off to tell Kaworu.

"Kaworu! Shinji and Asuka are in huge trouble!" he yelled.

Kaworu's eyes turned from worried to angry, "Not again. That fish should've learned it's lesson last time."

So he ran off and quickly took off his shirt and plunged into the water.

"Shinji! Asuka!" he yelled.

He saw that Shinji was was swimming as fast as he could with Asuka in his arms.

"Go, I'll take care of this."

"By yourself?"

"Yes, we may have done it when we were younger, but I'm older now, I can do this on my own!" and he continued to swim to the giant fish.

"You mr.fish and I have met before remember!" yelled Kaworu as he reached the fish.

"You almost ate me and my friend remember?"

It just moaned and opened his mouth.

"You can't do that!" and he jumped up on to the top of its head and punched it's eye.

"Shinji-kun, will Kaworu be alright?" Asuka asked when they reached shore.

Shinji was still taking in some air. He finally got enough of it and faced her, "I don't know. I'm going to help him."

"but…"

"Don't worry, I'll be fine."

"Just, don't die please."

He looked into her eyes and kissed her and she took him into an embrace. He whispered into her ear, "Don't worry, I promised to never leave you."

He got up and waved bye to her and plunged back into the water.

'Kaworu, don't you die either.'

Back at the fish, Kaworu got it blinded by punching it's eyes. Everyone else was watching on the shore.

"That kid is crazy!" yelled Misato.

"I can't believe I'm seeing this!" yelled an astonished Kensuke.

"I know! It's unbelievable!" said Rei Taking pictures.

"You guys are so weird," said Mana finally up to see if Kaworu is doing ok.

Touji was curled up in his bed being watched by Hikari.

"Oh God it's going to eat us all!"

Hikari just sighed.

"Kaworu!" yelled Shinji finally making it.

"Shinji? Oh hey bud! I got it blind."

"Oh good job man!" and Shinji jumped up to reach Kaworu.

"Remember when we first fought this thing?" asked Kaworu.

"Yeah, we somehow beat it, even though we were only 7," he said as the fish wobbled around.

"Amazing. But now, let's just make this guy wish he didn't mess withg us!" yelled Kaworu as he yet again punched the fish.

"Ok, let's finish this thing off!" yelled Shinji and they both jumped up and kicked the fish's face and it sunk down.

They gave each other a high five just before they returned to shore.

"Shinji!" said Asuka embracing him.

"Whoa man, I can't believe you took that thing on!" said Kensuke all excited.

"You two!" yelled an angry Misato.

"Y-yes Ms. Katsuragi," the two said in unison.

"That was amazing, idiotic, but amazing. You two get an A!"

"For what?" asked Kaworu.

"I don't know, just accept it ok?"

They both just shrugged and gave each other a high five.

They all head back to their cabin, Asuka holding on to Shinji, Mana and Kaworu talking, and Rei and Kensuke were chatting about the fish.

"Touji?" called Shinji.

"Hikari?" called out Asuka.

They found a very red Hikari with a sleeping Touji on her lap.
