Chapter 9: The Dance

A/N: Ok then! It's dance time! And the song playing here is not mine! It's Fall Out Boy, 'Dance Dance' By the way have you heard their cd? And the other song is,

She says she's no good with words but I'm worse
Barely stuttered out
"A joke of a romantic" or stuck to my tongue

Every boy was on one side and girls on the other. Shinji faced Asuka and their eyes made contact.


Weighed down with words too over-dramatic
Tonight it's "it can't get much worse"
Vs. "no one should ever feel like.."

"A-asuka, want to dance with me?" he made the first move out of the boys.

"Sure," and she took his hand and found an area to dance to the song.

Kaworu just wandered around the food area drinking some punch when Mana appeared out of no where.

"Hey Kaworu-kun! Want to dance?"

"Sure, it's just that I'm not that good of a dancer."

"It's ok, let Mana-chan show you how it's done!" and she pulled him into another area.

Touji looked at the glorious food that was laid out and rubbed his hands together, "Oh yeah!"

But a hand took his and he turned red. Hikari stood in front of him blushing slightly, "Um, you know it's not good to eat before you dance…"

"Oh yeah, I should go!" and he ran off. Hikari just stood there and sighed. She turned to see Asuka with Shinji. He was watching her trying to imitate her moves, but it just didn't work for him. 'Hmm, Ikari-kun should try to dance on his own. And Touji, where did he go?'


I'm two quarters and a heart down
And I don't want to forget how your voice sounds
These words are all I have so I'll write them

"R-rei?" asked a chocked up Kensuke.

"What is it?" she said sipping her punch.

He took her hand and she dropped her punch, "W-would you like to go dance with me?"

She smiled and took his other hand, "Of course Kensuke-kun!"

"Wow Asuka, you sure can dance well!" said Shinji as he tried to catch up with her.

"I've been to many dances before, it's natural for me to dance."

"I see, same here, I guess I should really try now!" and he grabbed her hand and they danced more, more together that is.

"Hey you two! Not too close!" yelled Misato laughing.

Shinji and Asuka just blushed as they went back to dancing individually.

"Hey! Stop slumping against the wall Kaworu! Watch Mana and you'll see how easy it is!" and she continued to dance.

"Ok, fine you've convinced me!" and he began to dance with her.

"Touji! Wait up!" called out Hikari as she ran after him.

'holy crap…' she thought as she saw him insanely dancing.

"Hey Hikari! Check it out, I'm the best there is!"

"You look like you're going to explode…"

"Whatever! Just dance with me!"

"R-really?"

Rei danced like everyone else and Kensuke just watched her and moved his feet a bit.

"Hey Kensuke, show me what you've got!" she said.

"I think I can!" he began to watch her even more and then he let himself go.

"Wow this is fun!"

"See, you can dance!"

"Wow," said a student as he along with other students watched Asuka and Shinji dance.

"I know, it's so cool!" said another.

Misato hearing the commotion came over and saw them, "Wow, you two are great together!"

Asuka just ignored her comment and kept on dancing, while Shinji's whole face turned red.

"Kaworu you're getting it!"

"I know that, check it out, those girls are eying me, they must think I'm so hot right now!" he said happily.

Mana though, wasn't as happy, "Hey, I'm your date now, don't look at those other girls!"

"Oh, yeah sorry Mana."

"Ok Shinji, together again, Misato's not looking," said Asuka looking both ways before she grabbed on to Shinji again.

"Ok then," and he held on to her.

"Come on, like before, show me what you've got Baka!"

Shinji nodded and did all his best dancing moves with her. She was quite shocked at first but then caught on. They remained like that and still were the center of attaention at the dance.

"You two…Oh I'll just let them have their fun," and Misato returned to the stage with Riku.

At this time everyone was showing what they've got, everyone danced their hearts out, but Hikari still had trouble keeping up with Touji.

"Touji, slow down, everyone's staring…"

"Isn't that good? We'll win for sure!"

"They aren't looking at you because you dance well…"

"What?" he then froze to see some kids looking at him like he was crazy.

"Oh, man, Hikari, you show me how to dance."

"M-me? Ok, I'll try my best," and she showed him her moves.

"Wow, come get my hand, let's try this again."

Hikari turned red again and took his hand, 'He better not go ballistic again…'

They all somehow met up and danced together as a group.

"Hey Mana, never thought you could dance."

"Same here, you and Shinji dance very well."

"Hey Kaworu, I remember seeing you dance, you're getting way better."

"Thanks, you're not so bad yourself."

"Hikari, you look worn out, what has the jock done to you now?"

Hikari stopped dancing and walked to Asuka and whispered into her ear, "It's hard to keep up with someone who can't dance."

Asuka just laughed as they finished off their dancing.

"Hey Kensuke, never thought you can dance!" said Touji finally had stopped.

"I never knew you didn't," joked Kensuke.

Rei also laughed, "Come on Kensuke, the song's almost done."

"Hello everyone, my name is Riku Tsubame, and I am your host for the dance competition. Everyone must vote for the best couple and best single dancer."

So they all lined up and placed their votes. Riku opened the box and along with Misato counted the votes.

"Ok, so the winner for single dancer is…Shinji Ikari!" announced Riku.

Next Misato faced the school, "Ok and the best couple here is, Shinji Ikari and Asuka Soryu Langely!"

Shinji turned all red being voted the best dancer, then he turned to Asuka and they shared a quick kiss and hug.

"Oh," said Riku interrupting everyone's applause, "Special mention to Touji Suzahara for most original, weird dance."

Touji frowned at this, but when everyone clapped for him, his proud mode kicked in, "Oh yeah!"

"You know they're making fun of you," said Kensuke.

They all just laughed, even Touji himself.

A/N: Ok then, it is time to start November, I have no idea how long this story is going to go, maybe as long as I can go, until I run out of ideas or something, I have no idea…Anyways thanks again for the reviews!
