Chapter 10: Shinji's Birthday!
A/N: Personally, I have no idea when Shinji's or anyone's birthday, but whatever. So here today we have Shinji's birthday, yes his birthday, turning 16…

Asuka had left her home early to go shopping with Hikari. She had to get her gift for Shinji, and she knew exactly what to get.
"Hikari, are you able to make Shinji's birthday?"
"Of course, we're all going to be there right?"
"Yeah, he invited everyone."
"Good, so what are you getting him?"
"Something he's wanted for a long time."
"What?"
"You'll see, by the way, what did you get him?"
"Wait, it's in this store."
"Ok."
So they both entered a shop called, 'Arts' and Hikari went straight to aisle 5. She led Asuka to the new art set, it had a beautiful shell decorated cover with 5 art pencils.
"Wow, that's nice," said Asuka still examining it.
"Yup, I bought it already, it was new and I thought it might've been all bought by now."
Asuka just nodded and they quietly walked out. They passed by a couple of shops, every shop Hikari asked "Is it here?" and Asuka shook her head and said, "Stop asking, we'll be there soon!" but Hikari just kept on asking.
"Is it here?"
Asuka got fed up and tried her best not to unleash her anger on her, so she ended up punching the next guy that passed by.
"Uh…" the boy got up and they both gasped.
"Suzahara!" yelled Hikari.
"Owowowow…" he said rubbing his head.
"Wow, we never thought we'd see you here!" said Rei coming up from behind Touji. She was holding on to Kensuke's hand
"Hey Asuka, why'd you hit Touji like that?" asked Kensuke.
"Someone got on my nerves," Asuka replied lifting up her fist.
"Wow, I don't remember anyone getting on your nerves while we were here Asuka…" Hikari said.
Asuka sighed and everyone else sweat dropped, "Well whatever, what are you two stooges and blue here doing?"
"Oh, we're shopping for Shinji's gift!" explained Rei.
"You haven't got it yet? It's his birthday today!" yelled Asuka.
"You haven't gotten it yet Asuka," Hikari declared.
"Well," she blushed a bit, "I ordered it a while ago, so it took a while to come," she said.
"Ok then, we're last minute too ok?" said Touji as they began to walk away.
"Wait!" cried Hikari, "Stay with us, let's shop together, we have two more hours!" they nodded and rei let go of Kensuke's hand to walk with the girls.
"At least I already got his gift," said Kensuke.
"Then why'd you come with Rei?" asked Touji giving him a funny look.
"Ah, hehehe…" and he ran straight ahead of the girls.
"Man, even he's got a girlfriend!" and he ran up to him.
After 5 more stores, they arrived at one called, 'Origami' and Rei quickly rushed in.
"It's perfect!" she squealed, and ran straight for aisle 2.
"What is it?" asked Hikari getting curious.
They followed her into the aisle to see that it was full of paper displays with many paper cranes and other creations.
"This my dear friends is what I call an origami masterpiece!" Rei said pointing to a huge glass display with many little and big cranes with paper flowers on it too.
"Amazing choice Rei!" Kensuke said fascinated by the work of art.
"Paper? How does someone do that with paper?"
"It's origami Touji!" Hikari said showing him a piece of paper, "Just watch," she fiddled around with it and it turned into a crane.
"That's amazing Hikari!" yelled Touji taking it from her hands.
"Thanks, you can have it."
Touji's eyes lit up, "Really! It's so pretty!-cough-I mean, it's nice…" and everyone just laughed at him.
"Ok, I'll purchase this and I'll meet you guys outside!" Rei said quickly walking towards the counter.
"Wow, even her gift is beautiful. I hope mine will be as good."
"Knowing you, I think you're present will be the best, it is for Ikari-kun after all," Hikari said reassuring Asuka.
Asuka just smiled and blushed a bit, "Yeah, for that Baka, I'd do anything."
Hikari just smiled as Rei rushed back wrapped package in her hands.
"How the hell did it get wrapped?" Touji asked.
"I have my ways," she said walking off.
After the next 3 stores, Touji stopped, it was called 'Jocks'.
"Here's where my gift is!" he said walking in.
"Jocks? Shinji hardly plays sports," Kensuke said rubbing his head.
"He sure looks like he does though eh Asuka!" Rei told her winking.
"To tell the truth yeah," they walked in and Touji quickly got a football and bought it.
"Oh yeah, Shinji is going to love this!"
"A football?" asked Asuka.
"Yeah, I told him that I'd teach him about it."
"That's nice of you Touji!"
"And I'm going to kick his ass!"
They all sighed and then a familiar voice came from behind them, "Football? Shinji likes to try something new!" It was Kaworu and Mana.
"Have you played it before Kaworu?" Mana asked.
"Yeah, I love sports, Shinji was more of the artsy type."
"Yeah, Ikari-kun sure likes music and art," Hikari said after thinking for a while.
"What did you get Shinji Kaworu?" asked Asuka.
"It's a simulation game, I thought he might like video games since he changed so much since I saw him."
"Well, all we have to do is get Asuka's gift for Shinji," Kensuke said looking at his watch.
"Ok then, it's a good thing we're almost there," Asuka said walking out.
"Oh yeah, Mana, what did you get him?" asked Rei.
"This telescope to look at the sky and stars," and she pointed to the box in her hands.
"That's why we're here, Mana dragged me here," Kaworu said sighing.
"What? You said it was ok!" she said pouting.
They noticed that the others were already walking to the next store, so they ran as quickly as they can.
"So what is your gift Asuka?" Rei asked.
"Hello deary! Your gift is finished!" a woman yelled from a counter.
They all stared at Asuka and she turned red, "Uh…That's my gift for Shinji."
All the girls got excited and quickly rushed towards the counter, Touji just sighed and mumbled "Girls…"
"What Touji? You like pretty and shiny things too!" Kensuke said laughing. Touji turned red and Kaworu just walked to the counter.
"Wow Asuka! That is so pretty!" Rei screamed jumping up and down.
"Nice, blue and red, they go so well together!" Mana added.
"What does it say?" Hikari asked.
"It says 'To my dearest Baka-kun, great wishes for a great birthday, I love you and always will' Isn't it sweet!" the woman said jumping up and down just like Rei.
"Why are you so excited?" asked Touji.
The lady wept a bit, "I always love seeing these two in the mall together, they're so sweet and cute together! Even his mom is happy for him!"
"Yui knows?" Asuka said gasping.
"We're good friends you know, although that father of his wasn't as excited, he just said, 'Just as long as I don't become a grandpa yet' that man is quite the downer."
Asuka just blushed and the boys looked at the gift.
"It's a necklace, are you sure Shinji will wear it?" Touji asked.
Hikari bonked him in the head, "It's special Touji, of course he'll wear it!"
Kensuke quickly looked at his watch, "Oh no, you guys, we only have 20 minutes to get ready come on now!"
Later on at his house…
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHINJI!" they all yelled.
Shinji's mother came in with a cake and his father placed the 16 candle and lit it.
"Happy birthday my precious Shinji!" Yui said.
"Happy birthday son," Gendou said.
Shinji smiled and blew out his candles.
"PRESENTS!" Mana and Rei shouted together.
"Presents? You guys, you shouldn't have!" his grin grew wider as they placed the gifts.
He loved all of them, even the football Touji gave him, when he received Asuka's gift he hugged her and kissed her on the spot, her cheeks flushed red and his parents gave him a look.
"Shinji, like I said before, no grandchildren yet!" Gendou said, and everyone laughed.
They all decided to play a quick game of football after Touji explained the rules.

"Ok Shinji, don't cry if it hurts too much!" Touji said laughing.
Shinji's eyes grew with determination and told his team what they should do. Touji just relied on himself while the others were clueless.
"Over here Touji!" Hikari yelled, but he ignored her.
"Touji!" yelled Kensuke.
But he just ignored the, and ended up getting tackled, and Shinji's team won in the end.
"Oh yeah!" Shinji jumped for joy.
"Damnit…"
