I am Boo Radley
By Jacqulin
Sitting by my window seat,
I watch my neighbors
comings and goings,
for I know that they spread rumors
on how mad I am.
The world has been
a cruel place for me,
so now I stay behind
these closed doors,
in my safe home.
My life is like a mocking birds',
people never talk to me.
or never harm me.
So I wonder, is a mocking bird
ever lonely as me?
A knot-hole in a tree
is how I communicate
with the outside world,
leaving odd things for a child
to find brought me great joy.
I chuckle at myself,
for I know that
the neighborhood kids
are planning on getting a glimpse
of me soon.
There is always commotion going on,
in my small neighborhood,
may it be a mad dog, a raging fire
or even my mothers death.
One time there was enough commotion
that I was tempted to leave my window seat.
I think it was a trial for a man.
Mostly everyone left,
ahhh…. what serenity there was.
As I was sitting by the window
one night, I heard sounds of a struggle
and I knew that I had to leave my window seat to help them
Never would I know that
they actually help me.
I was brought out
because of this incident,
some called me Boo
while others called me Arthur
I made a friendship with two children.
Now I know that I will
never feel lonely again….
