Chapter one

Jamie set up her ring light carefully considering I had dropped it already twice already. It was in the corner of my room so that i had the blank space of wall in the corner of my room for a backdrop.

To the left of me was the bookshelf and to the right was the rest of the wall next to the window. With blackout curtains up they gave a good amount of darkness for the small corner of my room where I did my cosplay videos.

Today Jamie was cosplaying a female version of Kaneki Ken, one of my favorite characters from Tokyo ghoul.

After checked out how I looked in my phone set inside the ring light after deciding I liked where my setup was and that my makeup wasn't smudged. i grabbed my phone out of the ring light and put it in inside my jacket pocket. Then leaving my room for a moment to grab a water bottle from the kitchen.

As I was walking back to my room, I heard a loud banging noise from upstairs above my apartment. I looked up to the ceiling in annoyance as a couple of pictures and plants shook in the living room. My neighbors caused a lot of noise and annoyance but I ignored it.

I had the perfect opportunity to make a couple of cosplay videos since my mom was out grocery shopping. Going back into my room I stood in front of my bookshelf, adjusted the brightness settings of my ring light. Just then a tremendous bang and screaming occurred from upstairs shaking my room.

Not just the room itself but the furniture as well! Making the large bookshelf that i had been standing in front of fall forward on top of me! Crushing me.

I screamed! In a tremendous amount of pain I tried to wiggle out from underneath the bookshelf, screaming out for help. I tried to grab on to any of the furniture next to me to try to pull myself out or even push the large and heavy bookshelf off of me but it was no use I was well and truly stuck. I either had to wait until my mother got home or until someone knocked on the door, to be able to hurt hear my screams through it.

At least that was my thoughts before I noticed the smell of smoke entering into the apartment. I began to scream fpr help in earnest now.

This was just my fucking luck wasn't it? Was I going to die being squashed by my books? My most prized possessions, while my apartment went up in flames?

Was this is really how I die?!

I gave up trying to push myself up or out from underneath the bookshelf out of breath and strength. I just laid down uncomfortably so, considering a couple of the books had fell first before I landed with the bookshelf that had not been far behind me.

Right underneath my chest was one of my old twilight books. In a fit of annoyance and self-pity I pushed it away from myself. I didn't even like the books series I only had them because they had been on sale.

As I laid there in annoyance and anger and fear at the thought of dying being crushed by my precious books.

I coughed and wheezed as it began to get harder and harder to breathe with the smoke getting stronger and thicker in the room. I was rapidly losing air and breathing in the smoke wasn't helping at all.

At least I didn't have any pets to die with me was the pacifying thought that passed through my mind. "at least Mom was out and she didn't have to suffer the same way I am right now" I thought as my eyes grew hazy and blurry and my breathing grew stuttered and weezy, I could see the twilight book in front of me.

'how annoying' I thought 'the last thing I'll see is one of those stupid books' and as my vision clouded over and darkened I couldn't help one last sigh of annoyance.
