Entwined Destinies

One dark evening in mid-September, a man named Sirius Black sat in a big leather chair, a baby, only a week over a year old, asleep in his arms. The lights were off in the room, and it was almost pitch-black, except for a dim candlelight emerging from a small table. Sirius looked down at his young daughter as he gently smoothed out her soft, wavy dark-brown hair as he smiled, for he was extremely proud of his daughter … only a year old and she already possessed the mischievous, powerful, sassy qualities of a Black. He couldn't have been happier, however, there was something about his child which caused for him to fear for her life, for her future.

"Jamie …" He whispered the child's name as she stirred in his arms, her abnormally formidable aura sparking out small, yet harmless jolts of her essence. Although she was a half-breed witch, she possessed unusual qualities, such as the sparking, which has only been the case with dark witches or wizards, and very few of them had it in the first place. Sirius knew his daughter's sparking was nothing dangerous, for his aura held the same condition, however, he was a pure blood, and he was the first member of his family to have the sparking for at least five or six generations. That was considered to be 'normal' … but in the case of Jamie, she had the exaggerated aura, and she was the generation after Sirius … for the child of one with a sparking to have it as well, that was extraordinarily abnormal, for it never happened before, definitely not in the case of a half-breed.

Hence the reason why Sirius feared for his daughter's destiny.

Jamie's situation caused discussions among the group of Voldemort's followers, the Death Eaters, or at least that was what Sirius heard from Dumbledore. And Dumbledore would never lie to him, especially not in the case of Jamie, the baby girl who all members of the Order thought of to be an exceptional witch. Dumbledore began hoping, and will remain hoping that Jamie Black will be the one who, someday in the future, will become one of the strongest members of the Order, and possibly the one who may someday destroy Lord Voldemort.

"What will you be able to do someday …?" Sirius whispered to his daughter as the baby released a quiet moan in her sleep. "You mustn't die," He added. "You have to survive, no matter what Voldemort throws at you …"

Sirius sighed as he fluffed his daughter's hair again, pessimistic thoughts running through his head. He knew that someday Voldemort will try to kill her, and he would continue to attempt the murder no matter how many tries it takes. After all, even at a year old, Jamie was already considered 'dangerous' by the Death Eaters, he was scared to imagine what they would think of her as she got older …

"I won't let you die …"
