Chapter 1: A New Leaf
Hey y'all. I'm back with another Infinity Crisis spin-off. Just a reminder that this is a sequel to "His Hazelnut Heart" by Ben2Dartmouth, so be sure to read that fic before reading this one. Oh, it's also tied into the story arc that was started in Chapter 10 of "Glimpses: Season 1", also by Ben2Dartmouth.
Anyway hope you like what's in store this Halloween. Ha ha ha. Imagine that in a witch's voice.
Earth-83
Several months ago
My name is Estelle Strong. Everyone calls me Star, even my own family.
I am your typical All-American teenage girl. I am beautiful and charming that went with the territory. In all sense I was your average A-List girl at Casper High.
Though living in Amity Park comes with a price, the frequent ghost attacks.
Anyway, these ghosts attacks were usually stopped by the friendly ghost Inviso-Bill or Danny Phantom as he preferred to be called. Danny Phantom had prevented the ghosts from turning Amity Park into a literal nightmare. However initially most of the public were distrustful of the heroic ghost because a ghost briefly overshadowed the Mayor and made it look like that Phantom was attacking him.
Thankfully months of heroic actions convinced the people of Amity Park, myself included, that Danny Phantom was a superhero. Especially when the town was briefly transported to the Ghost Zone, the place where the ghosts came from. Danny Phantom defeated the Ghost King, with Amity Park being sent back to the human realm.
Danny Phantom's popularity grew more and more after that event. Then the Dusting happened, no one knew how it happened at the time, but on the day it began random people began turning to dust and disappearing. I remembered it all too well, when I saw my hand disintegrating before my very eyes and yelling at my supposed friend Paulina for help. But what happened next was my "friend" running away without saying a word.
The next thing I remembered was being on a beach with a beautiful pink alien sky, along with various other people. I remembered talking to one of them, a brown-haired man who reminded me of that techno-geek Tucker for some reason, he was asking if he knew where we were, as well as where I lived and about Danny Phantom. I also recalled being surprisingly calm as well. Only for the man to have never heard of those two. I did find it really odd that the man never heard both Danny Phantom and Amity Park. After all Danny Phantom was the worlds only superhero and Amity Park was his hometown.
"Ohh." The man said with intrigue, "You must be from a parallel universe then."
"A what now?", I said in confusion. I heard the term before, mainly from the nerds at Casper.
"Like, ummm, how did the Flash explain it." The man said trying to recount something. "Like what if the Nazis won World War 2, what if JFK wasn't assassinated, or what if the South won the Civil War."
"Ohh, I think I get it." I recalled my father reading a book like that somewhere. Something in the castle?
"Good, because my city is, well, National City, and it's superhero is Supergirl, the cousin of Superman." The man explained with enthusiasm.
I remembered then saying, "I never heard of that city or it's superheroes."
The man explained. "Thought so. When I met the Flash, he said heroes and institutions from his universe didn't exist and he never heard of National City and Supergirl before he came to mine."
"That's cool you met a superhero from a parallel universe. But seriously, what kind of superhero calls themselves Supergirl?" I recalled curiously asking.
"The kind of hero that fights for truth and justice." The man told me proudly, "Besides I bet this Danny Phantom guy fights for same reasons."
I explained. "Well, besides common crooks, the Ghost Boy also deals with, well, ghosts."
"Supergirl mainly deals with aliens, besides dealing with crooks mind you." The man said. He decided to ask a more personal question. "Do you know Danny Phantom, I mean personally?"
I answered, "No. I just live in the same town as him I guess. Wait, did you say that Supergirl fights aliens?"
"Yeah, wait, you don't have aliens on your world?"
"Not the E.T. kind. Must be cool that you know some." I said excitedly.
"If you put it like that. Then yeah, it is pretty cool." The man said with a new perspective. "Keep in mind aliens are very common on my Earth, for example, both Supergirl and Superman are both aliens."
"Well Danny Phantom is, well, a ghost. And he fights them as well." I explained.
"That's sounds interesting. Tell me more please." The man responded.
I answered. "Well, as long as you tell me about Supergirl and your world some more."
So, with my new unlikely friend, we discussed both about our respective Earth and superheroes. After what felt like hours or possibly even days, I recall beginning to feel like I was about to be return home by whatever caused me to come here in the first place.
"Oh, I never asked you your name." I said, knowing for some reason that I was returning home.
"My name is Winn Schott." The Man answered, "And it was nice knowing you too, Star."
"My real name is actually Estelle. Star is just my nickname." I told Winn as I began laughing with joy.
The next thing I knew, I was back in the halls of Casper High. Immediately after returning, I began seeing other students and school staff being restored as well, all having laughters of joy and relief at being restored.
At first, I thought that weird beach was all a dream until a student who wasn't dusted (if that was the correct term) told us that two days had passed and that Danny Phantom had saved Amity Park from falling to total disaster. But that wasn't the biggest bombshell.
"Oh, but the biggest news to come out of this whole crisis. Get this guys, Danny Phantom has been Danny Fenton the whole time!"
We couldn't help laugh at what we just heard. Fenton was a wimp and a coward who hung out with weirdos, not some superhero who regularly fought ghosts. I even recalled Fenton's sister, Jazz, being in denial.
"What!" Jazz said in what looked like a panicked voice, "My little brother was never the ghost boy, never has been! Besides our parents hate all types of ghosts."
The students, Mikey as I now recalled, responded to the laughter, "No, I saw it myself with my own eyes. Fenton turned into Danny Phantom when all of you guys turned to dust. I even got it on video and sent it to the news."
Mikey then turned on a TV in a nearby classroom and inserted a video tape into it, showing us what we thought was impossible a week ago. Danny Fenton transforming into Danny Phantom while he was screaming his sister's name as a result of her turning to dust, flying off to save the day.
Then it all clicked for me, mainly Fenton's numerous of absences when Phantom was around, especially the time when Fenton lead our classmates to save their parents from a bunch of ghost pirates. I then laughed at the irony, Danny Fenton, the wimpy kid I used to look down on, was Danny Phantom, the ghostly hero of Amity Park and the only superhero in the world as far as I knew.
"And Danny Phantom fired his laser at that slimy octopus ghost in front of the ritz and send it straight into that Thermos of his. It was awesome."
I was put out of my memories of the Dusting by my brother, Peter, who was telling our family about the most recent battle that Danny Phantom had engaged in.
A lot had changed since the events of what the media referred to as the Dusting. Mainly the fact that Danny Phantom was a classmate of mine and a lot had changed for the A-Listers, the most popular kids at school. Or at least used to, now that Danny Phantom was the most popular kid at school for obvious reasons.
I remember being reunited with my family, who thankfully weren't dusted, and seeing Danny Fenton for the first time, not as another random classmate, but as the superhero the world now saw him as. I also remembered Peter running up to Danny and asking him for an autograph, which Danny wrote down without hesitation, along with accepting cheers and hoorays from the crowd that was thanking him for saving us from the chaos caused by the Dusting. Even Danny's parents were part of the cheering crowd.
I even remember Mr. Fenton saying boastfully, "Danny, your mother and I are so proud of you. We are sorry we tried to dissect you molecule by molecule. But that's okay. After all, you are a superhero and more importantly, our son. As long as you do the right thing then you have our full support, as well as the entire town. Cheer for my son everyone!"
I remember me and everyone else cheering and congratulating Danny for the hero that he is. Which began a new change in me. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
My life at school began to change. Dash was kicked out of the A-Listers for openly bullying Danny. Before the Dusting, everyone was willing to turn a blind eye because he was originally seen as a nobody and a weirdo, which now that I look back at it was because everyone thought Danny was weird because his parents in the days before we all knew about ghosts and especially now that Danny Phantom was seen as the biggest thing now.
Paulina tried to hit on Danny several times since she was one of the Ghost Boy's biggest fans when he started being a superhero. He said no, I think because he had a crush on Sam Mansion, the school biggest goth. Though I wonder if both Danny and Sam realized they loved each other since whenever someone brought it up they were both in denial about it.
Also Kwan, my ex, left for Nevada to be with his mom's side of the family after his Dad died from a heart attack caused by the chaos of seeing his wife turned to dust. Just another sad reminder that not everyone made it out alive during the Dusting.
Anyway, I'm over-explaining myself. Besides, I'm pretty sure that the weird beach was all a dream caused by me being dusted. I'm spending time with my brother right now and that's the most important thing to me right now.
I listened to Peter's tale of Danny Phantom's latest ghost fight in front of the Ritz, which really wasn't that different from the fight with that bluebird ghost in the woods a few days ago that I saw on the news. Heck, Danny's popularity soared through the roof after the dusting, he was now the most popular person in the world. On the latest gossip magazine he was usually on the cover and Peter was collecting the latest Danny Phantom toys that now were appearing at toy stores.
In fact, when Danny now appeared in a room, it would be silent and you could hear the faintest of whispers. That's what happened now when Danny and Fol- I mean Tucker walked into the cafe that my brother and I were eating at.
Peter said with excitement while trying to contain his voice, "Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod! Danny Phantom. Star can I please say hi to him."
I sighed, "I'm pretty sure Danny doesn't want to have his lunch interrupted, even if it is from his biggest fan. Besides you already got an autograph from him, what more could you want."
"Yeah, I guess you're right. Hey, you both go to the same school as him. Are you like, sort of…" Peter said with enthusiasm before I interrupted him.
"Yes, I do attend the same school. No, we weren't friends. Besides my friends and I were never nice to him nor his friends before Danny exposed himself as a superhero." I explained to my little brother.
"Okay, but didn't you kick that one jerk from your group because he was mean to Danny Phantom."
"Yeah, but I still don't think that Danny and his friends would forgive me. My friends and I felt we were like the center of the universe and above all our classmates. And because of that when we found out that Fenton was Phantom well, that illusion was shattered." I explained with regret in my voice.
"Well, you could just apologize to Danny and his friend." Peter said as if it was that simple.
We then heard some yelling from Danny. We looked and saw some guy in a blue coat pointing to Danny's head some sort of metal rod that gave a weird buzzing noise, with Danny putting his hands on the guy's arm. But before a fight ensued, a giant woman and a thin man approached the weirdo, telling the superhero that he was not a bad man.
But before there could be any explanation of who this weirdo was, the front of the cafe exploded. This was caused by a ghost that Danny called Plasmius. Plasmius then turned into Dash, who began gloating about how much he was Danny Phantom's archenemy.
Dash Plasmius, as he now boastfully called himself, began to fire lasers at various people inside the cafe, including my family. I ran towards the exit hoping to get away from this ghost fight. But one blast from that evil ghost caused Peter and I to be separated by more than an arm length.
Then Dash Plasmius, fired another blast at my brother. I screamed in horror at was about to happen. I was about to close my eyes, not wanting to see the results.
But then, I saw the laser being deflected by a shield with a British flag on it coming from the large woman I saw moments before the attack, she was now dressed in a strange uniform with a British flag on it as well. She then picked up my brother, with surprising strength as my dad said. The strong woman returned Peter to us.
As my mom hugged Peter in relief that he wasn't killed by Dash. I then asked the woman her name.
She responded quickly with, "My name is Captain Peggy Carter and you and your family need to get out of here!"
We listened to this new superhero and got the hell out of there.
But one thing that was on my mind when we ran away from the ghost battle was where did this new female superhero come from?
Several Months Later
As everybody else, including me, found out later, the superhero that called herself Captain Peggy Carter, along with her two friends, came from another world entirely. I don't mean as in they were aliens, well that Doctor guy apparently was, but as in they were from another Earth in a different universe. Plus aliens from another reality also appeared and held Danny's girlfriend Sam and a kid hostage so Danny would be forced work for them, both of whom Danny saved. Also, Dash Plasmius turned out to really be some billionaire from Wisconsin who was also half-ghost like Danny. At least that what the news said after the dust had settled.
Speaking of dust, that Doctor guy apparently told Danny that the whole Dusting thing was caused by another alien from another universe who felt that his universe was overcrowded and used a gauntlet to make half the population of his universe disappear, but also inadvertently caused half of the multiverse to disappear. Again, that's what the news said.
So, in the last several months since the incident at the House of Hazelnuts cafe, I began slowly realizing that vision I had when I was dusted was becoming more and more likely to be real in some strange way. Of course, I never really read any of the geek stuff that my Dad, Peter, and the nerds at school were into. But I began to look into the Fox Theory, at least that was the official term for the multiverse.
Looking back at it now, it reminds me of the various sci-fi shows that Dad watches or the comic books that Peter reads. I swear that ever since Danny Phantom started being a superhero my life has just become very crazy.
Anyway I wasn't researching the multiverse right now. I was looking at myself on my bedroom mirror's reflection at the recent Captain Carter costume I bought a few days ago. Sure, every other girl was also dressed up as her, in fact at school I saw Paulina dressed in a revealing version of the Captain's uniform.
It would be different this year, mainly because I'd usually attend one of the A-Lister's parties. But that was before I left that group after Paulina abandoned me while I was being dusted. We haven't seen eye to eye since.
Anyway, I've moved beyond that now. This year I decided to do some sibling bonding with my younger brother chaperoning him for this Halloween.
"So then Danny Phantom punched that lizard ghost in the face and sucked it into the Fenton Thermos at school today. You should have been there." My brother said like the little fanboy that he is. He was dressed as, of course, Danny Phantom
"Peter, I've seen plenty of ghost fights at Casper High as well. In fact a little to close on some occasions." I explained to my young brother.
"But it was still cool." Peter said with excitement.
Peter was always hyper and a bit of a weirdo. But that last one might have been on me. He had most of Dad's genes in him, while I had my mom's. I usually, before being dusted, was entitled for lack of a better term and was always a bitch in one way or another. For most of my life I considered looks and popularity my main focus in life.
But since being dusted, I've realized that those things don't matter as much as I thought. Maybe it's from my mom, whose side was always upper-class. While she treated me and my brother well. She always had an air of expectations for me. She was never abusive or anything like that. If you met her, you know what I'm talking about.
"Look! Look! It's Fenton Works!" Peter yelled at me with boyish enthusiasm.
I got out of my train of thought and saw that we were approaching the Fenton's house, with its giant sign rather boisterously proclaiming so. The building was surrounded by several reporters and fans, all of them wanting to take a picture or video of the great Danny Phantom.
It then dawned on me, I should apologize to Danny for being mean to him when I was with the A-Listers.
I then asked my brother a question, "Peter, have I been nicer to you since I was… dusted?" I shivered a little at that terrible memory.
"Of course sis." Peter said, his enthusiasm having died down a little after I asked the question. "You've become a lot nicer since that event. You no longer get into arguments with Mom and Dad. I don't see you hanging out with those jerks, especially Paulina. She was always mean to me whenever she came to our house. Plus I think that it would be cool if you became a member of Team Phantom."
My mind paused for a second, was I really worth becoming a member Danny's group, which the media had dubbed Team Phantom, even if now it only consisted of Danny, Tucker, and Danny's parents, since both his girlfriend Sam and older sister Jazz were off overseas right now.
After getting through the crowd surrounding the building I rang the doorbell and Mr. Fenton, Jack or John I think his name was, opened the door, carrying a large bowl of candy.
"Ah, two more trick or treaters." He boastfully said. He then noticed me, "Say aren't you one of Danny's classmates."
"Yeah… I mean yes, I go to school with your son. I'm Star and this is my brother Peter."
"Well, it's nice to meet more friends of my son." Mr. Fenton continued.
I corrected him, "Actually, I never really hung out out with him. Especially before he revealed his identity as Phantom."
Then suddenly a thought came to my mind. "Though I do want to talk to your son about something."
"Sure, come right in. Though Danny and Tucker are talking to a guest right now." Mr. Fenton said.
"Don't worry it'll be quick." I explained.
My brother and I then walked into the Fenton's house. While I had been in this house before for a party, when those pirate ghosts had kidnapped all of our parents. It was still surprising to see that the inside of Fenton Works looked like an ordinary household. At least on the first floor.
We walked into the living room, and saw Danny and Tucker sitting on the couch. But also a large man that I've never seen before sitting in the chair opposite of them.
He looked like some type of body builder, at least in that costume that he was wearing. He had reddish-brown hair, was clean shaven, and caucasian looking. His costume was red and gold with his muscular arms being bare. He had a golden cape on his back and an atom symbol on his chest.
The guest then spoke to me, "Ah, you must must be Sam that I heard about."
"No, I'm Star. This is my brother Peter." I corrected him.
"Oh, sorry about my mistake. As you can see I'm not exactly from around here." The man explained. "I'm Hyperion."
Peter then spoke to Hyperion, "Cool costume."
"Thank you, though I am not here for trick or treating. I am here to warn Danny Phantom and his friends about a grave threat, not just to his universe. But the multiverse as well." Hyperion explained.
"Which he was about to explain when you and your brother just suddenly barged in here. For what exactly." Tucker said aggressively.
I remember before the dusting, when I was a member of the A-Listers, Paulina for a couple of weeks was overshadowed by a ghost that wanted to get close to Danny I believe. Anyway, this resulted in Danny ditching his friends to be Paulina's boyfriend, at the time he was begging to one of the A-Listers. So Tucker decided to hang out with me, or rather I made him my assistant and I was a jerk to him.
"Tucker, I'm sorry for how treated you. I'm here to apologize to both you and Danny for how I treated both of you." I said with all my honesty.
"What?" Tucker said with confusion.
I then spoke out my mind, "Listen I know that you guys seem to be in the middle of something. But I came to apologize and in order to make up for that I'll become a member of Team Phantom."
Perhaps I spoke too much.
Tucker laughed as soon as I said those words. "You being a member of our Team. Listen I know your popular and all that, but you're not ghost hunting material. Even if your costume says otherwise. Which by the way, the real Captain Carter had way more muscles."
I then countered that statement. "I saw her in action too. She saved Peter's life when Plasmius attacked the cafe."
"Enough." Danny said with surprising authority in his voice. He then lowered his voice, "Star, I appreciate that you are apologizing to us and willing to help. But Tucker, while harsh, still has a point. Looks and a nicer personality are not gonna cut it when facing ghosts, aliens, or worse."
"What do you mean by, 'worse'?" I asked.
Hyperion then spoke, "Well, that's why I'm here in your universe. You see I'm not only from another universe, but I'm also an alien."
Tucker then spoke, "Yeah, that's not shocking to us for you see we've already met aliens from another universe called Derichet's."
"I've heard of them. But never seen any." Hyperion said, "So I take it that you are familiar with the multiverse then?"
Everyone else in the room nodded.
Hyperion then continued, "Because I came here to give Danny Phantom a grave warning. It's…"
Then suddenly an alarm blared.
Mrs. Fenton then yelled from down in the basement, "We've got incoming. And quite a lot according to the ghost scanner."
Everyone ran downstairs, including Peter. Hyperion ran with surprising speed that we could barley see him. As we went downstairs, the walls changed from wooden that you would typically see in a house, to metal. The basement being what I would expect from a lab run by ghost scientists the green portal that lead to the ghost zone. It was even louder in the lab there with red warning lights flashing repeatedly.
I was amazed by what I saw, even though I knew what to expect. Perhaps the most surprising thing about this lab was a tube like container that had several medical like devices attached to it. Inside the tube was a girl around Peter's age. Who at first looked like she could be Danny's younger sister, even though I'm sure that Danny doesn't have a younger sister.
I was about to ask what that was when Danny said his most iconic line.
"I'm going ghost."
He then turned into his ghost form. Peter cheered at seeing his hero action again, this time up close. I realized that this could get ugly.
But before any of us could react further, a ghost burst through the portal. It was dressed as a knight with black armor and a flaming sword, had glowing green eyes, and was riding on a bat-winged horse.
Danny then said, "Fright Knight! Been a while since I've seen you in the human world."
I remembered who the Fright Knight is. A ghost that was the spirit of Halloween. He made his debut last Halloween, terrorizing the town when Danny stole his sword to win a Haunted House contest, from what I heard. And he was a minion of the Ghost King when he transported Amity Park into the Ghost Zone.
"Ghost Boy!" The Fright Knight yelled with vile in his voice, "You have always been a giant thorn to us. Now it's time that we finished it once and for all."
Then suddenly, exiting from the portal was various enemies of Danny. Such as Sulker, Technus, and numerous of other ghosts that I did and did not recognize.
Fright Knight then announced what he is going to do next. "And then the human realm will be mine."
So yeah, cliffhanger. Sorry about that. I originally planned this to be a one-shot, but as more and more words came out of this, I decided to split it into two chapters, with a couple of epilogues as well.
I hope you readers liked me experimenting with the 1st person POV in this story because I'd really like to hear your thoughts in the review section.
Not much else to say, other than the idea of Star turning in a new leaf was inspired by my colleague, Flower princess11's "Stranded" series. Before any of you guys type this down. No. I don't plan for Star to end up romantically with Danny. Just want to make that clear.
The novel that Star was referencing while in the Soul Stone is "Man in the High Castle" by Philip K. Dick that was eventually adapted into a TV show on Amazon Prime.
And, I'm going on a New England trip in a few days. So wish me a good vacation. Yes, I'm still planning on writing whenever I have the free time.
Tofa and see you guys next time.
Next Chapter: Fighting and Forgiveness
