Burke stood in the lobby waiting for Cristina. He wondered what was taking her so long. As he began to sit down in one of the waiting chairs, Cristina came up to him.

"Hey, sorry I took so long. Are you ready to go?" Cristina asked as she pulled on her jacket.

"Yeah let's go. There's a new diner across the street close to Joe's so we can walk there if you want." Burke suggested as they walked out the doors.

"That sounds good." The two doctors continued to walk in silence to their destination.

Inside the diner was quiet; there were not many people around. Cristina and Burke found a seat in the back at a booth.

"So Cristina how have you been?" Burke asked.

"I've been fine."
"That's good to hear," Burke said as he took a sip of coffee.

"Why did you come back? You were the Chief of Surgery at a prominent hospital in Alabama. You made it to the top of the ladder."

"I know what I was and I know what I had achieved Cristina, but it wasn't what I expected. I thought I 'd be satisfied with what I was doing but I just didn't feel at home there." Burke explained.

"Not what you expected? What do you mean? You were the chief of surgery, you got the best surgeries and the increased pay didn't hurt your case any. Why would anyone leave that all behind?" Cristina asked.

"I wasn't happy. Most people can't be happy with work alone. It felt like I left a big part of who I am here in Seattle when I left. I came back to see if I could get it back," Burke said.

"Have you found that piece of you?"

"Yes,"

"Were you able to get it back?"

"I don't know yet. It's up to you,"

"Burke I don't understand," Cristina said confused.

"I missed you while I was in Alabama. Nothing felt right there. Even after we broke up before I left, I still felt whole because you were still around. Maybe we could give our relationship a second try," Burke suggested.

"I don't know, things are complicated now."

"You're seeing someone. I should have known," Burke said dejectedly.

"Burke, it's not that. I have a daughter and I have to take her into consideration now." Cristina said feeling somewhat bad that she did not tell Burke who the father is.

"Are you seeing her father?"

"No he doesn't know about her."

"Then what's the problem with us dating Cristina, I love children and I'm sure if she's anything like her mother she is adorable. Look if you want I can take the both of you out for dinner sometime, that way she'll be included."

"Burke I don't know."

"Cristina, I want to be apart of your life and that means being apart of your daughter's life, something I do not mind at all."

"Preston, I can't."

Burke was stunned. It was the first time Cristina had ever called him by his first name. "Why not?"

Before Cristina could respond the waitress came out with their cups of coffee and placed them on the table. She then left leaving the two to finish their conversation.

"Because I don't know if I'm ready for a relationship with Morgan's father." Cristina said not realizing what she had just implied. Burke sat in shock. "I didn't just say that did I?" Cristina asked as she placed her head in her hands.

"Yes you did. Morgan that's your daughter's name?"

Cristina nodded her head in response.

"Which means that I am her father,"

Cristina nodded her head once again.

"Did you know when I left?"

Cristina nodded her head another time.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

She looked up at the man who ended their relationship because he wanted to further his career. "I couldn't tell you. You never gave me a chance. The day I was going to tell you, you broke it off. Then you decided to leave, I didn't think I'd ever see you again."

"And that gave you the right not to tell me?" He asked trying to control the anger that was beginning to build up.

"You wanted to further your career, I didn't want to be the person holding you back."

"So you thought you had the right to make that decision for me? Cristina you don't know how I would have felt about the whole situation. I may have valued my career, but I would never have turned my back on my own flesh and blood. I am not that kind of person, never have been and I never will be." Burke explained.

"I know that now."

"You should have known it then too, Cristina."

"I'm sorry. I thought I was doing what was best for my child Burke, and what was best for me. I was afraid of the rejection I'd feel if you'd have left any way after I told you."

Burke looked into the eyes of the woman sitting across from him, and realized that she believed everything she was telling him. "I thought you would have known that I wasn't that type of person."

"We didn't know each other that way, we never went on a real date."

"Well, maybe we should change that. Can I take you, and our daughter out to dinner next weekend?" Burke asked sincerely.

Cristina looked up at him, "maybe."

"That's better than no." He said as he took a sip of the now cold coffee that was sitting in front of him. "So, tell me about Morgan."

"Well she plays the violin and the piano. Morgan is very creative and loves to make up little compositions on the piano. She is also good with numbers. She loves ninja turtles even though the cartoons are older than her. She is very smart and loves to read, when she's not watching Ninja Turtles cartoons," Cristina laughed.

"When can I meet her?" Burke asked. He wanted to get to know his daughter personally instead of through what Cristina was telling him. He wanted to know everything about his little girl.

"You can stop by Thursday at any time, I'm off on Thursday and her daycare is out Thursday and Friday." Cristina suggested.

"Alright, I will. I'm actually a little hungry why don't we order something to eat?" Burke suggested.
