Disclamer: Obviously, I do not own either of these 2 awesome franchises.

The world has changed drastically during the last century. Humanity certainly made a grand leap in technological progress, irrevocably affecting the planet. Grand buildings, new ways of communication, contraptions for fast travel… All of that convinced humans in their absolute superiority over nature, cementing their beliefs in science, as opposed to faith. As a result many spirits and other supernatural beings of the East, previously sustained by man's faith, were slowly fading away - either through moving from the Outside World to other planes of existence or ceasing to exist altogether.
Most devils of the West… Operated differently. While lack of faith ultimately affected the entire Outside World, that folk barely felt the difference, inviting humanity to the vicious battle over and over. It mattered little to them if their Dark Lord was defeated by valiant heroes so many times, or the fact they were mostly localized to small pockets of land, being continuously and thoroughly exterminated by monster slayers – that dance continued, for those sworn to the King of Night were directly bound to Chaos itself. Physical or spiritual destruction only forced them beyond to recuperate their abyssal power and return at later point with vengeance.
However, the situation may soon change. The vampire supplied her with a curious information – the current war between western demons and humans is prophesied to be the last one before the infamous Dracula is going to be vanquished for good. While this conflict was not affecting Gensokyo at large, her spies in the Outside World reported that Hakuba shrine maiden and several other Shinto priests departed to assist in dealing with reborn vampire and his legions… That was a potential trouble – Dracula's eyes were turned away from Japan and its denizens, but that turn of events could quickly change it. For all his fate-induced defeats, the vampire king was not an ordinary foe – even the Lunarians were unwilling to invite his ire. Should humans of Europe finally lose in this struggle, Dracula may very likely invade Japan in retaliation. That is, if he even would care about reason and not just expand his dark crusade to the Eastern shores.
One (two) powerful vampire(s) breaching her barrier and causing a ruckus amongst youkai of Gensokyo has already been a tiresome matter, potential monster invasion led by a devil of Dracula's caliber would shatter that tranquil land, regardless of its outcome. So perhaps it would be a proper action to pay a visit to him first? With that train of thoughts a certain gap youkai once more manifested her presence in the world of man, and from there - to the place where so many fear to tread, for the right reason.

As the land of Wallachia found itself covered in unending night, the nightmarish castle of Dracula was once again looming upon it in its terrific glory, demonic and other mythical creatures pushing onwards to Europe, meeting the desperate resistance. Not that it mattered much to its near millennia old master.
A tall and imposing man clad in red and black suit sat on the ornate throne, slowly sipping freshly acquired blood from a glass. His forces were engaged in fighting against armies of humans. The technology progressed massively during this century, but this was hardly a threat – not with his dark power countering and overwhelming anything the mind of a scientist could come up with. The main course is his nemesis in face of yet another Belmont and his ragtag group of comrades – yet again including his son. Even so, it would take some time for them to fight through his legions and reach the Castle. Fancy guns, aircraft and terrific bombs – none of that was going to work in favor of man in this struggle. For those were born from man's desire for destruction – the same desire that resonated with the flame of boundless Chaos – the entity that spawned gods and devils alike. Human hubris went to such a degree that the majority of them began to forget what the world truly was - weakening regular mages and spiritual beings in turn. Nevertheless, that mattered little - Chaos did not require faith to persist. It did not require anything, in fact, even if this world and beyond project the state of the very being, emotions, fears and desires to Chaos, feeding it. And so it responded, as usual, in making its champions and slaves sow mayhem and destruction once more... By doing so, the opposition has risen again, ever ready to push dark legions back by courage, faith and enchanted weapons. The wheel of destiny made another turn. But this time, it was different.
The prophesied Final Battle was at hand. It's unwritten conclusion promised doom either to him, or to humanity. Five centuries of vengeful madness, blood, fall and subsequent resurrections – everything led to this moment. However, all he could feel was… Emptiness.
He began to walk that path of destruction ever since he swore to oppose God – the one he served, the one he fought for. The one who cruelly took his beloved wife from him. When the impossible to his former Catholic beliefs happened and he met her in another incarnation, he was so close to finding closure. So close to believe that maybe, just maybe he could have a life that was stolen from him so long ago. Have a family that he had no opportunity to have in his mortal life. When he held his newborn son in his hands, he felt at peace. Even if he knew Lisa would eventually fade away due to her mortality, he was not planning to share his curse with her – one seemingly short, but happy life they never had when he was but a mere man and their beloved Adrian were more than enough for him to accept it. So much as he genuinely prayed to God once more in thanks for making that miracle possible.
But humans condemned her as a witch and murdered her. Therefore, he declared war of annihilation on the whole of mankind. Only to have his son turn against him, going so far as joining Belmont Clan and enriching their bloodline (Oh, the irony was not lost on him, he himself once entertained the notions of such union after all) in order to destroy him. And deep inside, Mathias Cronqvist, or Vlad Dracula Tepes, knew he wanted it, that final touch of oblivion. Even so, it took countless years, several deaths at hands of oh-so-noble-heroes and Adrian's (no, Alucard's) reminder that his Lisa, his sweet Elizabetha, would have never wanted such atrocities to happen in her name. But he was blinded in his anguished desire for revenge until it was way too late for him to stop. Even after his death at Alucard's hand Dracula was yet again forced from beyond, his mind fogged by Chaos' response to humanity's twisted desires.
Only this year, at peak of his might and beyond, Dracula's mind was as clear as during days of the First Crusade, when he believed in the cause he fought. When he still had a loving wife waiting for him at home and when he had not yet ultimately betrayed his best friend... He still leads armies of night creatures against mankind, but whatever remains of his heart and soul desired for the end of this accursed cycle. Regardless, he was not going to join the oblivion gently, to lay down before his slayers in surrender, begging for final death – humanity must earn that victory, however short that may be. Even should the impossible truly happen, and Dracula will forever cease to exist, Chaos will find another Dark Lord to claim his role. And humanity will develop itself with reckless abandonment and disregard of faith and morals, until it will extinguish itself, Chaos' interference or not.
Another sip of crimson liquid with a feeling of utter boredom. Until he felt a… disturbance at the gates of his Castle, right at the border of Chaos' encompassing influence.
Contrary to popular beliefs, not every 'supernatural' being was under his command by default. He was aware of old gods who abandoned this pitiful world long ago. Of beings who slowly faded away without human worship – or fear: some of those joined him in desire to lash out on those who have forgotten them – or to preserve themselves from oblivion. He knew of several hellish planes for irredeemable souls - Chaos spawned many beings and dimensions, but despite him essentially being its avatar on a mortal plane, he did not command every single being born or descended from it, even though he potentially could. Death was one of few Old Gods who remained to stay between the physical world and Chaos. However, he was one divine entity – the world still had plenty of them to offer. His trips over the world shortly after becoming the vampire vastly broadened his esoteric knowledge. And he could sense his guest had Eastern origins. Japanese, to be more precise.
He heard a curious story that happened about a century ago in that land. Powerful group of individuals separated part of their land from reality to either contain native spirits and demons - or protect them from extinction: that branch of mystic creatures was particularly dependent on humanity's beliefs in them, so its development in technology put them in a precarious state. Whatever the intentions of his guest may be, at least it would kill some time before his foes will reach the castle…
After all, boredom truly was as great an enemy for the immortal as was his own self-loathing. Although it was not becoming of a ruler to come down all the way to the gates to greet his audience, his abilities solved that problem neatly enough. Conjuring a mirror, Dracula waved his hand, turning it into a red gap in space, interconnecting his throne room with the Castle's entrance, allowing him to have a clear view of…
Several gaps in the shape of eyes, each containing multiple eyes. Were those ribbons around them? Certainly not of his making. Now, his interest was piqued.
"It is not often that I have guests from the Far East." His voice reverberated across the throne room, and entrance, reaching whatever places those breaches in space led to. The invader was not in his sight, but he sensed another breach out of the field of vision. "Less so with such exquisite talent. What brings you to my gates, youkai? Perhaps you wish to indulge in the recent excitement?"
He got his response in a calm female voice.
"Not quite. Although, I assumed I would have to fight through the castle to reach you." With those words mysterious youkai descended to the ground. This being was in the form of an elegant blond woman clad in a purple tabard with Eastern symbols over a pale pink dress. Certainly, that one was not the ordinary 'visitor'. Nevertheless, if this one had no interest in partaking in his campaign that could mean another most likely reason for coming here...
"That depends on your intentions. Have you come to try to slay me then, if you are not interested in joining me?" Oh, he needed just a brief look at those bottomless eyes of gold while she closed her parasol to have confirmation of her power: Her ability to manipulate reality through boundaries had potential to pose a threat even to him… If he had not sustenance from the Chaos. She would find no in-betweens in the fight against him to exploit, given the nature of the Castle. Nevertheless, he had little interest in fighting something like that at the eve of Final Battle. It would be quite a shame to stand before his audience too weakened for a proper combat, should this enigmatic being prove difficult to handle.
"Do I have to? I have heard humanity does that part well enough," the cheeky woman answered with a small smile. She deliberately tried his patience, then. Not that it would work - he had not had a promising conversation for centuries. Still, he decided to answer that jab with a slight hint of irritation.
"What humanity does even better is calling me from my slumber again and again. Since you have not tried to force your way in yet, I conclude you have no desire to fight. But there must be something you have come for."
At that answer, his visitor narrowed her eyes ever slightly:
"I have come to ensure vampire invasions to my land are not going to become a regular business. Keeping it stable is already quite a task, you know."
Now that answer startled him for a moment, almost making him blink in surprise. Certainly, some of his vampires could have left Europe and moved to other continents. However, try as he might, he could not remember any vampire that swore allegiance to him moving to Japan recently. For all he had done, having a youkai at his doorstep accusing him for orchestrating an invasion to her homeland felt… Completely bizarre.
"Then perhaps you have picked the wrong trail. I have not sent any vampires to your country. Nor have I heard of such a thing from my forces."
"Not even your descendants, Vlad Tepes Dracula?"
That question roused him, making his mind work on that picture. The list of those who would have made such a claim was very, very short. If she mentioned descendants that could mean…
The conversation turned to something better discussed face to face directly, not through holes in space. So he made a decision to invite his somewhat polite guest (how rare those were these centuries, usually the guest in question would have already started a fight!) to his abode.
"Perhaps we could talk about this in seclusion. The breach we are currently speaking through is also a safe gateway. I guarantee the Castle will not impede you as long as you will not try to influence it, or me."
The youkai smiled, seemingly satisfied with this turn of events. And unbothered with the subtle hint of him knowing her true power.
"Very well. I suppose I can enjoy your hospitality," with those words she walked towards his portal with absolute confidence and passed through it. After she found herself in the room she finally deigned to introduce herself: "In the East I am known as Youkai of Boundaries, Yukari Yakumo."
Now when they were face to face (somewhat, the form he usually used significantly towered over human's height, for all her power, that one in her human form was no exception), it was time to set a flow of conversation. Since his audience has in no way offended him yet, It would not hurt to make it light at first. Time to kill, curiosity to satisfy… Company to enjoy - last women he had encountered were servants, unwilling prisoners or too invested in slaying him.
"A pleasure. A welcomed guest that does not attack you at sight is always a pleasure."
At this remark, his newest guest's eyes twinkled with amusement.
"If that is the case, then perhaps you should not spread 'excitement' the moment you are awakened, hm?"
That retort produced a chuckle from him.
"Ah, sarcasm. I am afraid I cannot follow this advice though"
"Is that so? A pity."
Her feigned condolencing tone was almost believable.
"Now, now, lady Yukari, my resurrection is often preceded by some calamity in the world of pests. And It is quite often that I am resurrected mere hours before yet another 'hero' strikes me down."
Twinkle turned to a frown.
"Do you deny your role in the destruction your army causes?"
"I do not. I declared mankind unworthy of life once. I took upon myself a mission to lead this wretched cattle to slaughter. And my opinion has stayed the same ever since."
Should his enemies fail in slaying him now…Then humanity will be crushed, his regrets be damned. But it seems they have strayed from the reason that particular youkai sits opposite him. If that is a real reason, anyway.
In the blink of an eye, two immortals found themselves in another part of the Castle, both paying no heed to sudden transportation. A private study, well suited for conversations tet-a-tet. Since he doubted his eastern guest knew his genealogical tree (thanks to Adrian, he did not know how his line truly expanded either), he would clarify something first.
"Still, it matters little. To return to your… Inquiry… My line is quite long, thanks to my son and his dalliances with one particular Belmont girl or another over the last five hundred years. Ever since they spread around, though most of them are completely insignificant. I would like to have at least a name for that… Interloper of yours."
Oh, he was certain, the issue was hardly about some Belmont descendant turned vampire claiming kinship with him - to a creature of her stature, lesser vampire would mean no much more than pebble. Yukari summoned a cup of drink, the Castle made no resistance to non-offensive dimensional manipulation. After the sip she made a reply, not breaking their stare, in a tone fitting for a trivial matter, such as discussing the weather.
"A vampire known as Remilia Scarlet breached the barrier that separates Gensokyo from the Outside World and caused quite an incident in our realm. She, and her entourage with the mansion. She claimed she and her sister are from your line."
Ah, he has almost forgotten about this anomaly in his tree. That claim was more or less truthful. Those children wanted nothing to do with his war, so they cut ties with him long ago, even if it was the elder sister who came to his castle first, paying a visit to her many, many times granduncle in a quest to master their curse. Quite a brave and daring girl she was. Talented too - for a child vampire to survive that long, not to lose themselves and not to become a prey was unheard before. He would have known if either of the sisters had fallen - both were gifted with his own vampire blood. If he had to guess, then perhaps Remilia decided to move and establish a new seat of power as opposed to being eventually overrun by hunters after the Final Battle or being forced to join his legions during it (or even being compelled into becoming his successor should his defeat be proven final - she grew into a being with that much power. And then there was Flandre to consider.). The timing was fitting. But the bite she chose to make apparently proved too big for her to chew. What price she was forced to pay, he wondered.
"So the wayward child decided to invade another land and reaped a failure. Do you seek reparation for the damage she caused? A ransom for her unlife and soul perhaps? My kin she may be, but you must know that vampire acted on her own volition, without ties to me. "
"I have already made a suitable arrangement with her. As I said at first, I am here to make sure your forces will not make a move on something that is ours." - Yukari calmly answered. That meant that it was not about this 'invasion' from the very beginning. She merely used that as a pretext for opening to the main issue. "Migrations from either side are tolerated to a certain extent. But bringing your conflict with humanity to us will not be, Lord Dracula."
He just arched an eyebrow when her gaze became even more intense without any change in expression, despite keeping completely relaxed composure and subtle aroma of alcohol from her cup. Dracula found that attitude surprisingly refreshing compared to usual groveling or antics of self-righteous fools playing heroes. When was the last time someone so brazenly engaged him in negotiations?
"Remilia's adventure notwithstanding… You must have a reason to believe I may particularly threaten your domain then."
At that his guest's serene facade revealed a slight distaste. A little change, perhaps even masterfully controlled, given her nature.
"Your war reached our shores even discounting the incident I spoke about. More precisely, the West seeked the help from my land's priesthood. As far as I am aware, the plea was answered."
Hm. So she was worried about the possible retaliation. At that he gave a chuckle:
"I welcome them to try something interesting then. Last centuries had been utterly boring with those banal and repetitive motions. For your lands and men I care little, though, of course, I will do my utmost best to dispatch the invaders regardless of their origins." And then a smile, revealing pearly teeth and fangs. "Unless you have objections to me defending myself?". Now he added some pressure of his own in that dance of minds.
Those fathomless orbs of gold (or were they violet now?) had a flash of surprise which disappeared the moment it showed up. She probably realized his disinterest in the matter. And then, there was the amusement he witnessed during their exchange at the Castle's gates.
"As long as your forces stay from our home, I will offer no objection. Still, perhaps you may indulge me. From the way you speak, one could say you anticipate the coming changes in your script, hm? What ending do you seek?"
"You are well informed. The answer depends on the performance of my incoming guests though."
Yukari responded with the pleasant hum "I see." And then continued to sip from her cup.
After the intentions were revealed, with nothing left to quarrel over, the tension in the room completely dissipated. What a curious creature his guest was, to make her presence imposing in one moment and so serene in another, showing so little care for the abyss that loomed around her. Perhaps he became too accustomed to grand displays of power, to be so fascinated by subtle exchange of gestures and words. Combined with the present enigma opposite him, the vampire king felt something he had not felt for a long time indeed.
Contentment. A momentary respite from the cursed fate he subjected himself to. He also summoned his unfinished glass to enjoy it in unexpected, but surprisingly welcomed company. How ironic, given the situation. Perhaps he should prolong this passtime by inviting his guest to dinner? He has an idea or two how to benefit from this development…
A/N: Well, Something just made me to delve into that particular crossover... Two powerful reality warpers (that is an understatement of the century in BOTH cases) having a conversation. What can become from this, I wonder? I would be grateful to both constructive critic and spelling corrections. I fancy myself as the one who can understand English well enough, but when it comes to consistent writing... Well, you've got the picture.
I will try to keep characters in character, but here I am, making Dracula too fed up with his unlife. Although, given his Netflix portrayal and SotN, I believe it may be legit. As for Yukari and Touhou side of story - let's see what will come from that.
