Izzie was the kind of girl who liked to be in control. After all, she was a surgeon, and surgeons were just like that. Because when you're in the middle of a surgery and inside a person's brain or heart, it's kinda important that you're in control. That's how surgeons were, and that's just how Izzie was. And not just in surgeries or at the hospital, but in all areas of her life. Whatever situation presented itself, she didn't like to sit back and let others handle it. She liked to be in control. Or at least, she wanted to have some say in the matter. At the very least she wanted be informed about what was being done. Which she hadn't been when Meredith decided to tell everyone that they were sleeping together!

Okay, maybe she didn't tell everyone, but Izzie knew that it was now only a matter of time before the whole hospital found out about them. Because it just takes one person; tell one person and suddenly rumors are spreading faster than syphilis among the nurses. And Meredith told three people. Okay, maybe it was only Cristina, George, and Alex, and maybe they wouldn't tell anyone else, but still- Izzie would at leastliked to have known that Meredith had told them. She could understand Cristina, because she was Meredith's best friend, and she could understand George, because he was their roommate, but Alex! Alex! Who was now making jokes and perverted suggestions every time he saw her. Which happened to be the way she found out that he even knew.

"You told ALEX!" Izzie had yelled at Meredith that night while she was frosting a batch of cupcakes. (Shocked that Alex knew about Meredith and herself, Izzie hadn't really focused on learning how he found out so much as making him swear not to tell anyone else. So, still thinking that no one else knew, she had waited to tell Meredith about it until they were alone at the house. She was more than a little surprised when Meredith replied that she not only knew that he knew, but had in fact been the one to tell him.)

"Yeah, he's our friend," Meredith said, stealing a cupcake and taking a bite. "It's not like he cares."

"I care," Izzie said, her voice rising as astonishment gave way to anger.

"It's really not a big deal," Meredith said calmly and licked a bit of frosting from her finger. (Which, had she not been completely furious, Izzie would have found completely adorable.) "He would have figured it out sooner or later. I thought it would be better if we just told him," she said with a shrug.

"We didn't tell him! You told him! I didn't even want to tell him. Besides, how would he have figured it out?" Izzie crossed her arms and leaned back against the counter. Because they had been very secretive, and very careful not to do anything that might make the others suspicious about what they did in their free time. And up until that point, Izzie had been very confident that no one else would ever find out ever.

"Well, now that Cristina and George know, it was bound to slip out eventually."

That night, Izzie came dangerously close to decapitating Meredith with a spatula.
