Chapter 85

1984

It was the last day of school before Christmas break. Tony and his class had just won the battle of the bands that night and he was gathering his things from his locker as the school hallway was filled with students, staff and parents after the event. He heard a familiar voice from behind.

"Congratulations Tony!" the female voice cheered.

He turned and spied his friend, Ali Mills behind him grinning ear to ear. She wore a sweater and jeans and stood with her new boyfriend, Daniel LaRusso. He smiled, "Ali! Daniel!" he greeted the pair.

Daniel cheered, "You guys rocked up there tonight. Did I ever tell you that I can play drums?" he added as an afterthought.

"No, you never did." Tony confessed. "It was a group effort."

Ali stated, "Your class is the best. You are so lucky to have Mr. H. He's the coolest teacher in the school."

Daniel smirked, "You just told me you thought Mr. Hawke was the coolest teacher behind Mr. Knight."

"They are cool too." she had to agree. "I heard Mr. H. lets you watch movies in his class. How cool is that? Most teachers don't do that."

Daniel countered, "But Ali…the class is for…you know…" he winced hinting that the class was not on par with the rest of the school.

Ali countered, "No one in that class is dumb. They just need extra help." She then covered for Daniel as she could see the strained expression on Tony's face. "Anyways, I just wanted to congratulate you, Tony." She gave him a slight hug.

"Thanks Ali." he replied. He then heard another familiar voice.

"Look at that. The retard class actually won the battle of the bands." It was Johnny Lawrence with his gang of karate students. He confessed, "I got to say…I'm impressed." he told Tony.

"Coming from you, I guess I will take that as a compliment." he replied.

Johnny looked about, "No Sam? I heard you dumped Rhonda for her."

Tony clarified, "Rhonda and I just went our separate ways. I did not dump anyone for anyone else."

"Whatever." he shrugged. He glared at Ali and Daniel. "Keep training for that tournament, LaRusso. I'm gonna kick your ass."

Daniel became defensive, "We will see about that!"

Tony held up a hand, "Could you two just grow up?" He shook his head. "Thanks for the talk, Ali." He grabbed his things, closed the locker and walked away not wanting anymore drama.

Ali noticed that Tony dropped an envelope as he walked away. She bent over and picked it up. She went to call for Tony but he was already gone. "Tony! You dropped this." She found it was too late to get his attention. She then noticed something sticking out of the envelope. "What's this?" She tugged and found an admission ticket. She read off the information, "It's a ticket to the L.A. Air Show." She cocked her head as she read the date, "That's strange."

Johnny asked, "What's strange? They always have an air show in summer. Kind of early for tickets." he figured.

"This ticket is dated for July of 2022." she told him.

"Let me see that." Johnny requested.

She handed him the ticket.

He puckered in thought, "It is dated for July 16th, 2022. That's is weird!"

Ali pondered, "Now I wonder…" she winced.

"What?" Daniel asked.

"That money with the wrong dates." she reminded him. "Could it be Tony doing it?"

Johnny suggested, "Maybe Hinckley's class. I bet they are the ones doing it."

Daniel figured, "I'm sure the police are on it."

Johnny glanced at his friends lingering about. "Maybe."

Few Hours Later

Johnny Lawrence lead two of his friends from his karate class, Bobby and Dutch into the window of Mr. Hinckley's room. The three boys glanced around the room with flashlights.

Dutch asked, "What are we looking for, Johnny?"

"I don't know." he shrugged. "Anything…weird."

Bobby went to a cabinet, "It's locked."

Johnny approached and used his flashlight to break the lock with a swift swoop. They opened the door and spied the movie player and a stack of DVD's in the cases. Johnny reached in and grabbed a case.

"Ghostbusters! That's just came out." he noted.

Bobby opened one of the other cases, "Hey! Ghostbusters Two! Look at this. It's on disk instead of a tape."

Dutch dug into the movies as well, "Ghostbusters Afterlife." He read a bit confused.

Johnny took the case and read the fine print, "This date says 2022."

Bobby stated, "I knew it was the retard class behind the money."

Johnny started to gather up all the movies and the player. "Come on! Let's get this stuff to Kreese. I bet he will know what to do." Johnny assumed he had stumbled into something illegal and his tough karate teacher would straighten in all out.

January - 1985

Ralph Hinckley had returned to school after the Christmas break. He was informed of the events with the Galactica and that Sam had managed to get a message to Commander Adama warning him about the two Cylon basestars. He glanced around his room and found the window was slightly open. He went to the window and closed it thinking one of his students must have left it open. He turned and then noticed the metal cabinet that held Sam's player and movie collection was open. He approached and inspected the lock that was broken. He glanced inside and found the items were missing. He sucked in a breath as he understood the movies from the future had been stolen.

"That's not good." he winced a bit shocked.

Tony entered the classroom next. He asked, "What's not good, Mr. H.?"

"Sam's movies and player are missing." he told him.

He walked over to the cabinet and looked at the busted lock and figured, "Someone stole it all. This isn't good."

Ralph agreed, "It isn't. We have to tell Sam that her movies were stolen and she's got enough to worry about."

"Clyons!" he nodded.

Ralph figured, "She needs to be able to sleep to let the nanites work at finding and establishing contact with the Pegasus and get messages to the Galactica. She's got too much on her shoulders as it is with that alone."

Toney agreed, "She does have a lot on her right now. We can get it all back! Just don't tell her for now. Not until the Galactica is safe and those Cylons are gone."

Ralph figured, "I can have Bill keep an eye out for the DVD's. Should we tell Michael?"

Tony shook his head hard, "We tell him and KITT will tell Sam and she's stressed to the max as it is. We can do this ourselves, Mr. H.. Rhonda, Kyle and Jose can all keep an eye out."

"We can do this as a class." he agreed. "Whoever took it probably won't know much about how to work that player."

Tony stated, "I hope not but it's pretty easy to use. All they need is a TV to hook it up. When did it get stolen?"

"I don't know." he sighed.

A new voice came at the door. "Excuse me!"

Tony and Ralph looked up to find a young looking pretty black female standing in the doorway holding a large bag, dressed in a red shirt with black slacks and lightly applied makeup.

Ralph stated, "May I help you?"

She smiled, "I'm new here. This is my class." She held out a slip of paper.

Ralph took the slip and read off the name, "Miss Judy Hoffs."

She nodded, "I'm a senior." In reality she was under cover police officer who was transferred to the school to investigate what appeared to be bootlegged movie tapes. Two more fellow officers were transferred in from the 21 Jump Street Program to assist: Officers Doug Penhall and Tom Hanson.

Ralph stated "Please take a seat, Miss Hoffs."

She gave a pleasant smile and took a seat near by. She noted the broken cabinet. "Is the cabinet broken?" she asked.

Ralph confirmed, "The lock is broken." He patted Tony on the shoulder, "Take a seat. Mum to Sam." he reminded him.

"Right." he agreed and took his seat worried about the missing tapes and Sam's well being as she was in a stressful role. He then buried the fact that he lost his ticket to the air show that he was given prior. He figured he would need to find the lost ticket on his own.

Next into the class was Rhonda. She cheered, "Good morning, Mr. H.! Tony! How was your Christmas?" She asked and then noticed a new face in the classroom.

Ralph smiled pleasantly, "It was good. I hope your was too, Rhonda. Have a seat. We have a new student in class." He motioned towards Judy.

Rhonda smiled pleasantly but really did not like the idea. "Hi!" She then looked to Ralph and kept her voice low, "New student? We were going to watch the Titanic."

Ralph whispered, "I think we know how it ends, Rhonda."

She took her seat annoyed that she would not get to watch the movie.

Next into the class came Kyle with Jose. They seemed cheerful as they entered.

"Morning Mr. H.!" Kyle cheered.

Jose greeted, "Mr. H.."

"Have a seat boys." he instructed as the pair then noticed a new face.

Kyle nor Jose were happy to about the new student for that meant they could not speak openly about the secrets they were entrusted with.

Judy noticed the disgusted looks and found it odd.

Next into the class came Sam. She looked tired and had the weight of the galaxy on her shoulder. "Morning everyone." she greeted. She paused and looked at the new face, "Um…new girl!" she looked rather surprised.

Judy greeted, "I just moved here."

"Class this is Judy Hoffs. She's new here." Ralph introduced.

Kyle complained from his seat. "This sucks!"

"Tell me about it!" Jose agreed. "There goes the afternoon movies." He crossed his arms annoyed for there were a number of movies in Sam's collection he wanted to see.

"Movies?" Judy asked intrigued.

Kyle huffed, "Ain't no more movies now."

Sam offered "We can set up a big screen at the hangar and watch them there on the weekends."

Tony shook his head, "No we can't."

"Hangar?" Judy asked intrigued.

Jose pouted, "I wanted to see Return of the Jedi too."

Ralph stated, "We can do movie night some other time, class. We got lessons to do and test to prepare for." He noticed Sam seemed a bit distant as she sat at her desk. He asked, "You feeling okay?"

She shrugged, "There are two Cylon basestars on our doorstep, the Galactica can't approach without being ambushed and there is a good possibility Baltar is already here."

Kyle asked, "What did we miss?"

She reported, "We are on the verge of an alien invasion."

Judy cocked an eyebrow wondering what she stumbled into.

"You mean like the lizard dudes from that weird reality?" Kyle wondered.

"I think the lizard dudes are fighting with the Cylons." she reported. "Those are machines….Like terminators."

Rhonda asked, "Are we totally screwed?"

"Not yet." she assured.

Judy asked bewildered, "What is everyone talking about?"

Ralph came up with an excuse, "Sam is writing a book and sharing it with the class. Right Sam!" he motioned for her to go with the cover.

"Right!" She looked to Judy, "I'm writing the Explorer's Guild to Time Travel. I'm in the chapter now where Earth has made first contact with other humans and is about to face off against alien killer machines who have infiltrated us."

Judy assumed it was just a story. She grinned, "Sounds like you got quite a book going there."

"And how." she nodded in agreement.

Next into the room was a young looking man with dark hair. He had a rounded face and brown eyes and wore jeans and a denim jacket. Tom Hanson entered the class later so the two officers would not appear to be working together. He held out a slip, "This the right class?"

Surprised Ralph took the slip, "You are Tom Hanson. You are new here too?"

"Got tossed from my old school." he came up with a cover.

"Have a seat, Tom." Ralph stated.

He looked over the unenthused faces as he sat closer towards the back of the room.

Kyle rolled his head back, "Great! Two in one day. I want my old class back."

Jose agreed, "More fun with the old class."

Rhonda complained, "I'm never going to get to see my movie now."

Sam asked, "Titanic right?"

She nodded not so enthused.

"Rose lives, Jack dies, at the end of the film Rose is a little old lady and she throws the jewel into the ocean and then dies in her sleep." she revealed.

Rhonda grabbed a piece of paper, made a ball and threw it at here. "You just spoiled it for me."

"Spoiler alert!" she countered and then threw the ball of paper back.

Kyle stated, "Do not tell me how Return of the Jedi ends."

"I won't." she promised. She then asked, "Everyone get their tickets to the July air show? Dad said I will be flying with mom and Aunt Cait as he mans the booth."

Ralph assured, "I made sure everyone got their tickets." He didn't want to bring up future events with two new students in the class.

Kyle complained, "July isn't until summer."

"You just got to the hangar." Sam reminded him. "It's sooner than you think." She hinted that on the other end of the wormhole it was summer time.

Kyle figured, "Summer is closer at the hangar. That's good! I'm getting real sick of all this damp cold weather. I'm ready for some good ole 4th of July cookout."

Jose cheered, "Yay!"

Sam requested, "Bring those fancy hot dogs from that butcher around the corner from your house, Kyle. Those are good hot dogs."

"You got it!" he cheered.

Judy and Tom traded glances. They were sent to the class as it seemed to have a connection to the futuristic money and the tapes have been found. They were not sure what the students were talking about but they knew they were not welcomed for a reason.
