Jaune Arc was in deep thought...

He was laying on his bed at his and his team's dorm room, with his legs cross and his arms behind his head as he stared up at the ceiling.

Thinking about the all of the events of the current week, to say that this week had been eventful for the young huntsman in training would be an understatement.

His partner Pyrrha Nikos, had offered to train him after he made a pathetic display in Glynda Goodwitch's combat class against Cardin Winchester.

However his pride and stubbornness did not allow him to accept her offer, he admitted to her that he had faked his transcripts and lied about being accepted into beacon, out of his desire to be seen as a hero much like many of his ancestors, despite his lack of skill.

Once again Pyrrha insisted on helping Jaune despite what he had told her, but once again he claimed he needed to do it on his own.

What a stubborn idiot he was...

If that wasn't bad enough Cardin Winchester overheard this conversation and he promised to keep Jaune's secret, on the condition that he does whatever Cardin says.

One day Glynda Goodwitch lead a group consisting of Teams RWBY, JNPR and CRDL through Forever Fall on Professor Peach's behalf. Glynda instructed them that they had to collect a jar of Red Sap from the trees deep within the forest.

Cardin made Jaune gather six jars of sap, one for himself, one for each member of CRDL and one for some scheme he had in mind.

After Jaune did as he asked it was revealed to him that Cardin had his sights set on Pyrrha in retaliation for humiliating him in Bartholomew Oobleck's class. He intended to have the extra jar thrown at Pyrrha so it would break and cover her in sap. Team CRDL would then release wasps, which would be attracted by the sweet sap and go after Pyrrha.

Furthermore, he told Jaune to carry out the entire revenge scheme on their behalf or else Cardin would tell Glynda that Jaune lied his way into Beacon. Jaune stubbornly refused to harm Pyrrha and instead he hit Cardin with the sap.

Team CRDL ganged up on him and as they were beating him up, a bring light shined out of his body, blocking Cardin's punch and instantly healing his bruises.

But before Team CRDL could continue to beat him, an Ursa Major appeared from behind several trees, it seemed like it was attracted by the smell of the sap Jaune hit Cardin with.

Frightened by the Ursa's size, the members of Team CRDL fled. Cardin attempted to run from the Grimm after it managed to disarm him, but he was knocked to the ground.

Jaune was well aware of all the horrible things Cardin did not just to him but other students at Beacon, but despite how much he hated him and how much he was willing to help he would never thank Jaune for what he was about to do, Jaune still knew what he had to do.

The Grimm attempted to finish Cardin but was blocked by Jaune's shield.

Surprisingly, Jaune managed to fend off the Ursa for a short time, blocking its blows with his shield while counterattacking with his sword. Even when the Ursa managed to knock him down twice in the course of the fight, he kept getting back up and fighting back.

Both Jaune and the Ursa charged at each other one last time, he saw the Ursa was attempting to slash him form the side, he tried raising his shield to block the attack, for a second he thought he was too slow and the Ursa's claws were going to hit him, and he was low on Aura so the blow could have proven fatal.

But the shield suddenly felt much lighter than it felt before, this allowed Jaune to successfully block the Ursa's attack, allowing him to regain his stance and behead the Ursa.

After returning to Beacon Academy, Jaune apologized to Pyrrha for his recent behavior. She accepted his apology, Jaune asks Pyrrha if she could help train him in becoming a better fighter.

She agreed to help him and they have been training together in their free time ever since.

It was a pretty wild week, but of all the things that happened, the one thing that Jaune's mind kept coming back to, was the moment that he beheaded the Ursa Major.

It wasn't weird enough that his Shield felt lighter for a split second, but he could have sworn that he saw the blade of his sword glow for a split second, just before he chopped the Ursa's head off.

Where his eyes playing tricks on him? Or...maybe...just maybe...

He had just discovered his Semblance?

Before Jaune could continue to ponder this possibility his vision of the ceiling was then obscure by Nora's face suddenly forcing itself into Jaune's field of vision.

"JAUNE!" Nora yelled.

"WOAH!" Jaune yelled back as he fell to the side, falling off the soft and warm mattress of his bed into the cold hard floor of his team's dorm room. "NORA! Don't yell at me like that so suddenly!"

"Suddenly?" Nora replied with confusion as she laid on Jaune's bed, looking down at him."I called your name 4 times and you never said or did anything, is something wrong?"

"Oh! Sorry about that." Jaune apologized, he often forgot how perceptive his bubbly and energetic teammate could be."I was just thinking about everything that happened is past week."

"Oh! I get that, the way you sliced that Ursa's head clean of was just the coolest!" Nora cheered.

"It's not just that..." Jaune said."By the way Nora, how do you activate your semblance?"

"I don't!" Nora answered.

"What?" Jaune replied in confusion.

"What Nora is trying to say is that her semblance is unique, she has the ability to produce and channel electrical energy into her muscles, giving her enhanced strength" Ren, who had been quietly meditating in his bed until now explained when he noticed Jaune's confusion."It's not something she consciously activates, it happens automatically whenever someone uses lightning dust on her, or attacks her with an electric weapon."

"Exactly!" Nora said, standing up on Jaune's bed before jumping from his mattress to the mattress on her own bed, doing a flip in the air as she did.

"I see..." Jaune said, standing up from the floor and sitting down on his bed before adopting a thinking pose.

"Why do sudden question about semblances?" Pyrrha, who had sitting at her desk, writing something down on her notebook, asked her leader.

"Oh! Umm... I was just wondering how I can unlock my semblance." Jaune answered, half lying.

"Well, sometimes people discover their semblances by accident." Nora explained."Like me! I was struck my lightning and didn't die! That's when I discovered my semblance."

"But what if you ability is not something you can just discover by accident?" Jaune asked."Or even in the middle of a fight?"

"Well, in that instance, if you feel you've unlocked your semblance but you don't know how to use it, the best thing you can do is to focus your mind and ask your soul for guidance." Pyrrha instructed."That's how I discovered my Semblance."

"I see..." Was all Jaune said."Oh! I just remembered! There's something I need to go do."

"What is it?" A curious Pyrrha asked.

"I remember I needed to go down to town and get some Dust Crystals."

"But, you don't use Dust." Ren stated, feeling confused.

"I agreed to run an errand for the teachers, they are going to be needing dust for a class they are going to be teaching, but since they are too busy with other things I volunteered to help." Jaune explained."I have to turn them in tomorrow morning, if I don't do it now I won't be able to do it any other time! There's no time to loose!"

"Wait! Which teach-" Pyrrha tried to ask, but before she could finish her question, Jaune and already left the dorm room and closed the door behind him.

Jaune was now walking around the halls of beacon academy, thinking to himself...

"I feel a little bad for lying to my team like that, but I don't want to get their hopes up by telling them I think I think I discovered my semblances when it's just as likely that it was all just my eyes playing tricks on me." Jaune thought to myself before making his way over to the school's armory to pick up an extra sword and shield."If I brought my sword and shield with me, my team would have gotten suspicious."

Afterwards me made his way over to the amphitheater, hoping nobody would be there this late at night so he could train.

But when he got there he was greeted by the sight of Yang Xiao Long, punching away at a sandbag with all her might, suddenly he saw her hair glow a bright gold before she released a powerful punch that broke the chains suspending the sandbag in mid air, sending it flying into one of the walls of the amphitheater.

"Looks like the amphitheater isn't an option." Jaune whispered to himself as he walked away from the amphitheater."And I can't use the Gym because I know for a fact that team CRDL likes to use it late at night."

There was only one option left, and he really hoped it wasn't his only option...

The emerald forest...

"HYYAA!" Jaune yelled at the top of his lungs as he swung his sword.

"HAAAYYYAAA!" Jaune yelled again.

This had been going for about 5 minutes, and Jaune was starting to get frustrated.

"Come on!" Jaune complained, starting to loose his patience."I could have sworn when I swung my sword to behead that Ursa I saw the blade of my sword glowing, but now nothing is happening!"

Jaune let out a defeated sigh before dropping his shield and stabbing his sword into the grass covered earth.

"Maybe it really was just my eyes playing tricks on me..." Jaune said sadly followed by another defeated sigh."What did Pyrrha tell me before?"

If you feel you've unlocked your semblance but you don't know how to use it, the best thing you can do is to focus your mind and ask your soul for guidance.

"Focus my mind and ask my soul for guidance..." Jaune repeated his partner's words."I guess it's worth a shot..."

Jaune took a deep breath, he closed his eyes and cleared his head of any thoughts, for a moment nothing happened, but suddenly he could feel the aura in his body flare up, it was almost as if his body was being covered in a warm blanket of steam, emanating from his body.

And while Jaune maintained his eyes closed, all he saw was darkness, but then he saw a small light, glimmering in the darkness, he felt the urge to reach out to that light, so he extended his arm and closed his fist.

Suddenly he felt compelled to speak a word, he did not know why he felt compelled to say it, it just popped into his mind the moment he reached out for the light and clenched his fist, it was as if the light was guiding him, trying to show him or teach him something, Jaune decided to follow the guidance of the light and so he spoke the name of the Grimm he had beheaded in Forever Fall...

"Ursa"

After he spoke that word he opened his closed fist and opened his eyes, and he was greeted with a dark blue portal, opened in front of him, it looked like the empty space was cracking open, before Jaune could attempt anything however, he saw two glowing eyes in the other side of the portal , and he heard a deep growl that was all too familiar to him...

Jaune let out a scared scream, he took several steps back in fear before he tripped and fell on the soft grass of the emerald forest, Jaune looked in fear as he saw an Ursa Major stepping out from the portal, once it was fully out, the portal vanished in a puff of blue smoke.

Jaune snapped out of his fear induced trance, he tried reaching for his sword, but he then remembered he stabbed it into the ground and dropped his shield too, and now there was an Ursa Major standing between him and his weapons.

Jaune started to crawl away from the Ursa backwards, the Ursa in turn started to walk slowly towards Jaune, Jaune's back then bumped against a tree, he had nowhere to run.

"Okay Jaune, calm down, once the Ursa charges at you, you dodge out of the way and make a break for your sword."

Jaune waited for the Ursa to charge...but that moment never happened, after he stopped backing away from the Ursa it stopped moving towards him, it was just standing there looking at him.

As he waited for the Ursa to do something, Jaune finally got a good look at the Ursa, and he noticed some oddities with this Ursa in particular.

Unlike the usual dark red glowing eyes, this one had bright blue glowing eyes, and the usual red markings that decorate it's bone like helmet was also a bright blue, speaking of which, not only was the bone helmet covering the Ursa's head colored black, the rest of the bone like armor was also colored black, and strangest of all, the Ursa's fur, instead of it being a deep dark black, it was a very bright white that almost made it seem like it was glowing.

It was very strange, it was like as if the colors of the grim where inverted, the red turned blue, the with was black and vice versa, but it's appearance wasn't the weirdest thing about it, once he noticed these small details he suddenly no longer felt as scared as he did before, which was strange, the sudden lack of fear felt unnatural.

Once he realized the Ursa wasn't going to do anything he stood up from the ground, he took another look at the Ursa, still standing there not doing anything, Jaune cautiously approached the Ursa, even though his heart was telling him there was nothing to fear, his brain told him to not let his guard down.

Once he reached arms reach to the inverted Ursa Major he slowly reached out a shaking hand and patted it on the head...

The Ursa opened it's mouth, Jaune feared the inverted Ursa was going to bite his hand, but before he could do anything, a blue colored tongue came from it's mouth and started to lick his fingers, before he started rubbing it's head against his arm.

The whole thing was pretty bizarre, seeing a threatening Ursa suddenly acting like a completely harmless house dog or cat was so bizarre, Jaune couldn't help but let out a light chuckle.

But suddenly, the inverted Ursa turned away from Jaune and looked of into the dark woods, the Ursa started growling and it's once relaxed form was now hunched down as if it was expecting an attack or getting ready to fight, Jaune mimicked the Ursa and looked of into the dark woods for a moment all he saw and heard was darkness and the sound of the wind blowing through the trees, but then he heard growling coming from the woods, and he saw three pairs of glowing red eyes, and out from the woods stepped three Beowulfs.

Jaune was startled by the appearance of the Beowulfs, they must have been attracted by the sudden anxiety he felt when he thought the inverted Ursa was going to attack him.

But before he could do anything he heard the inverted Ursa roaring before charging at the Beowulfs, it ram into one of them, causing it to be sent flying and crashing into a big tree, the Beowulf crashing into the tree caused it to fall over and land on top of the Beowulf, pinning it in place, the Beowulf tried to lift itself up, but it seemed like the three was too heavy for it to lift.

Suddenly one of the other Beowulfs pounced on the Ursa and started biting into it's neck, the Ursa roared in pain and anger as it tried to shake the Beowulf out of it's back while Jaune watched in amazement.

But it was cut short when he noticed the last remaining Beowulf run past the inverted Ursa and charging at Jaune with it's left arm raised high for a slash attack, Jaune managed to regain his bearing just in time to leap out of the way of the Beowulf, had he been a second late, he would have been the one being beheaded.

Jaune managed to perform a roll landing after he leaped out of the way of the Beowulf that charged at him, trying to tear him apart with it's claws, Jaune however didn't have time to celebrate this successful dodge, after he landed he got back up and made a break for his weapons, he managed to grab his sword and got into a fighting stance.

The Beowulf charged at Jaune and Jaune charged back, he focused his mind and gripped the handle of his sword with all his might, and when he did the blade of the sword started glowing as if it were being charged with a large amount of Aura.

Jaune didn't ponder on this for very long, he noticed the Beowulf was going for another slash attack with it's claws, this time with it's right arm, Jaune managed to dodge the attack by ducking under the arm, when he did he noticed that unlike the top of the head of the Beowulf, it's jaws didn't have any bone armor protecting it.

Jaune saw his chance and performed an upwards thrust and skewered the Beowulf's head with his sword, the Beowulf yelped and tried to reach for Jaune one last time, but it's body went limp and silent after a second, Jaune took this as an indication that it was dead, he pulled his sword out of the head of the dead Beowulf and it's dead body fell on the floor before slowly vanishing in a puff of smoke.

Jaune turned around to look at the inverted Ursa, it seemed that while Jaune was fighting his Beowulf, the Ursa managed to get the one it was fighting out of it's back and crushed the Beowulf's head under it's paw.

As the body of the Beowulf started fading away, the Ursa looked over to the Beowulf who was still stuck under the tree trying to lift it off it's back, it walked towards the Beowulf and raised a paw to try to either crush it's head or slash it off.

"STOP!" Jaune screamed.

And as if it understood Jaune's command, it stopped just short of crushing the Beowulf's head, it lowered it's paw and stepped away from the Beowulf.

Jaune didn't stop the Ursa because he didn't want it to hurt the Beowulf, he did to see if it would follow his orders, and it seemed like it that was the case, the Ursa was completely subservient to him.

He walked over to the pinned Beowulf, grabbing his shield along the way, he stood over it and looked at his sword, he remembered how he focused his mind and gripped it hard just before it glowed white with Aura.

"I wonder..." Jaune said to no one in particular, he focused and gripped the sword hard, and once again he started to change Aura into it causing the blade to glow white.

Jaune turned the sword backwards and stabbed the sword downwards, the blade piercing the Beowulf through the back, the Beowulf let out a distressed cry just before it died and it's body went limp.

Once it's body faded away, Jaune sheathed his sword on the opening of his shield before turning his shield back into it's scabbard form and attaching it to his belt.

He then looked into his hand and started thinking back to when he reached it out and spoke "Ursa", and moments after an Ursa appeared in front of him, an Ursa that he could command like an ally, he then remembered how when he beheaded the Ursa that was going to kill Cardin, his sword glowed much like when he killed those two Beowulfs just now, and suddenly he got an idea...

"Beowulf!" Jaune said, reaching his hand out with a focused mind, and much like with the inverted Ursa, the empty space in front of him cracked and broke, revealing a portal, and out of that portal stepped two Beowulfs, who much like the Ursa he previously summoned had their colors inverted.

And so, in that moment, Jaune realized he had discovered his Semblance, a Semblance that gave him the ability to charge his sword with Aura, and whenever he kills Grimm with his Aura charged sword, he is able to summon those slayed Grimm as his allies, nay...as his minions.

Jaune gave a smug and slightly evil smile as he looked at his hand, realizing the power that he now possessed, all the possibilities and incredible things he could do with it.

"Hehe, if this Semblance is as powerful as I think it is, then with enough practice I could become...invincible, no one would ever stop me!" Jaune laughed a triumphant laugh that echoed through all of the Emerald Forest.

However, one question still remained...

What would he call this new incredible Semblance of his?

He remembered how he discovered his semblance by asking his soul for guidance.

"Well, I think it's only appropriate to ask my soul for it's name." Jaune told himself, he closed his eyes once again and focused his thoughts.

For a moment, there was only silence...not even the inverted Grimm dared to make a sound...

And then... Jaune opened his eyes, and he spoke the name of his semblance for the very first time, as he flashed a wicked grin.

Legion.
