Here's my only attempt at affection between Ed and Roy...trust me, it's not what you think...
Didn't mean it?
Roy finally managed to open the front door, it was exceptionally hard with Edward draped uselessly over his shoulders. The young minor had found his way to alcohol and drank himself into a drunken stupor. Ed, in a state of inebreation, tightly held on to Roy's collar on the opposite side of his shirt as he balanced his walking. He legs were like rubber, though one was made of metal, and his head had trouble staying up; it was no surprise that he couldn't walk on his own.
He waited until they were at the door to deliver his lecture. "What did I tell you Fullmetal?" Roy snapped at him slightly. "I told you not to drink, now look what you've done to yourself." He scolded him; realizing then that his attempts were futile, he decided to leave the lecture for when he could remember it. Roy carefully balanced him as he shut the door behind the; they walked up the stairs of Roy's home.
Ed was only sisteen, sending him home like this would not only make Ed look bad, but it would make him look bad that one of his subordinates had commited a misdemeanor. The Flame Alchemist led the intoxicated Edward up into the spare room that he had cleaned out for just such an occasion; be it Ed or even Havoc, who had routinely claimed the spare bed as his own.
Roy headed over to the bed and sat down with Ed still wrapped around his shoulder. Not letting Ed give himself a concussion, he laid him back on the bed carefully. Ed opened his eyes and clumsily straightened himself out on the bed.
"..anks." He mumbeled out.
"Drinking isn't good for you."
Ed smirked. "Who cares...its yer fault fer lettin' me come inthe first place." He slurred out. His eyes were drooped down and staring blankly across the room at nothing. Ed raised a hand to his eyes and rubbed them rather awkwardly. "Um sorry."
Roy was a little confused, if he didn't care that he was durnk, what could he be apoligizing for? "What are you talking about?" Roy asked.
Ed opened his eyes and looked at Roy, all the sencirity he could pour into his gaze was there. Ed seemed as though he really wanted to say something. He rolled over, breaking the gaze with Mustang. "It's jus tha you've been there for me an Al...it really means a lot..."
Roy rubbed the back of his head. He never knew Ed to be the sentemental type, so he decided to hear him out. "Oh yeah? Then why do you act as though you can't stand me?"
Ed snickered a little. "You're the only one who'd watch out for me an Al...it's something that dad should have done...bu he wasn't here..." Ed continued. "You remind me of my father...or what he should have been...so I hate you...but It's almost like you were meant to be a father someday..." Ed smiled as he snuggled into his pillow.
"Well that woun't happen for a while yet...I'm not even married Full Metal." Roy laughed slightly to himself.
Ed furrowed his brow. "Just call me Ed...it's easier."
Roy lightened his mood. "Alright Ed, but you really mean all that."
Ed nodded. "It's true...you dida really good job of takin' care of me an Al..." He repeated yet again.
Mustang folded his arms. "You think so? How about thanking me then?"
Ed smiled. "Thanks fathe..." Then Ed rolled off into a passed out stage of sleep.
Roy was dumbfounded; did Ed just try to say what he thouht he did? Paying it no mind he pulled a blanket over Ed. "Try saying that when you're sober." Roy left the room and shut the door.
...That's really the only way I could see Ed thank Roy for all that he's done. Tell me what you think.
