A/N: What if Rose had held on to the lever?

Rose Tyler struggled to hold on to the lever, and the void tried to pull her in. 'No,' she thought. She tightened her grip and fought the searing pain in her arms. 'Only a few more seconds. Then the wall void will close.' She could only vaguely hear the Doctor's cries, and just kept telling herself to hold on. It would all be over soon.

After what felt like an eternity the wall became solid again. The Doctor was off his clamp in a second and he ran to Rose, her arms limp, but her smile intact. He picked her up and hugged her. That had been too close.

She still felt weak, but Rose needed to say something, summoning all the breath she could manage, " I held on for you."

"What?"

"I held on for you."

The Doctor stared her, her eyes were shining, and tears began to fall on her flushed cheeks.

Not sure what to do, the Doctor followed his hearts. His greatest desire, it was about to come true. He kissed the tears away and then kissed her. For too long he'd fought it.

Rose kissed him back, loving every second. His arms warm and his embrace tight. She snaked her arms around his neck, and opened her mouth, allowing his tongue to slide in. Despite the fact that she would never see her family again, Rose was not saddened, for in the Doctor's arms, she was home.

She'd held on for him. And she always would.
