PROLOGUE
July 2nd, 2027/Azaroa 31st, 789
Ginza, Tokyo, Japan
It is a sunny day in Ginza with a temperature of over 28℃ and a blue sky without any clouds. Even though it was recorded as one of the warmest days in the city, many people still go around today into the shopping mall or restaurant, either they are intended to shop or only stroll around just to make this 'Saturday' feeling to be more alive.
An otaku and also a JSDF lieutenant soldier, Yōji Itami, is enjoying his day off by visiting the Summer Doujinshi Convention.
"Oh my…I have been waiting this for two weeks. I can't wait to see you Tomoko Tulipflight!" Itami hold his Sony Xperia II as the screen shows the cover of the popular doujinshi called 'Tomoko and her Adventure to Five Kingdoms!'.
On the other side…
A black Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222 stops between a Mitsubishi Fuso truck and a Toyota Prius. Inside the car, it shows that the passenger is a white man. On his suit, attached a cufflink of Russian two-headed eagle symbol, which means that he is the Russian Ambassador to Japan.
"Mr. Rubashkin. Do we have another schedule today?" asks Kliment Zavrazhin, his chauffeur.
"No. Let's just head back to the embassy."
When the traffic light come back to green again, the sedan immediately stop after turning left when Rubashkin ask his chauffeur to do so.
"Why are we stopping, sir. What happened?"
"Have you ever seen that building before in here?" Rubashkin pointing to a building that resemblance to an Ancient Roman-style architecture in the middle of the street.
"No sir. I didn't even know that there's building in there before…and it looks very odd. A building in the middle of the road?"
"I will check it myself." Rubashkin out from his sedan and walk to that building.
"Sir! It's very dangerous to go outside alone!" Zavrazhin also getting out from the sedan to protect Rubashkin.
On the other side too…
"Alright, everyone! You all have free time right now to enjoy the Ginza district! Remember to return here before 2 P.M!" says Mrs. Kathryn Lowe, the tourist guide for 'St. Cornelius High School foreign field trip to Tokyo, Japan'.
All of the St. Cornelius High School students begin to explore every stores that are available in Ginza district. Some of the female students are shopping in a building called 'Ginza SIX' while the male students are enjoying themselves inside the ramen shop or sushi bar.
Then two students from the school and also a couple, Luke Henderson and Daisy Hawkins, are standing near a building that resemblance to a Roman-era building. Coincidentally, they are also standing behind Bogdan Rubashkin, the Russian Ambassador to Japan.
"What is that building sweetie?" ask Daisy while holding onto Luke's left arm.
"I don't know. But…how could someone build a building in the middle of the road?"
Then, a brigade of soldiers in Roman-era clothes and also some strange few creatures appears in front of them from inside that building. The strange creatures in front of human soldiers in Roman-era clothes is none other than Goblin, Orc, and some Kobolds; their appearance is very similar to every fantasy series you ever watch or play.
"ALL YOU SAVAGES LISTEN UP WELL. WE, THE EMPIRE IN THE NAME OF HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY MOLT SOL AUGUSTUS. DECLARE THE CONQUEST AND DOMINION OF ALL THESE LANDS!" says loudly by the General of the Augustus Empire Army.
Suddenly, just in a second, all of those Imperial soldiers are charging towards the Ginza civilians and almost all of them got impaled by spears of Augustus Empire soldiers.
"Don't kill all of them! We still need them as our offer to His Imperial Majesty Molt Sol Augustus!" said the general while pointing his swords to the remaining civilians.
Following the order, the Augustus Empire soldiers successfully kidnapped Ginza civilians and foreign tourists by knocking them out with the wooden part of their spear. Not only using that method, they also point their swords at civilians' neck or dragging them with the horses by lassoing them first. No matter if the people they captured are old or young.
"Quick Mr. Rubashkin! We need to get into the ca-" before he could finish his sentence, Zavrazhin was knocked on the head by one of the Imperial soldiers and then, before Rubashkin could act something, a tip of the sword has already been in the side of Rubashkin's neck.
"Surrender now!" said one of the Augustus Imperial Scouts while the five others of the Augustus Empire soldiers also encircled Rubashkin while pointing their swords at him.
It doesn't just end there, Daisy and Luke are also cornered by the Augustus Empire soldiers while watching their classmates and teachers get captured and become a hostage. But this time, the Augustus soldiers are accompanied by a few Demi-humans, Goblins and Orcs. They can hear Mrs. Lowe pleading to the Augustus soldiers to only take her as a prisoner and let the students go. Unfortunately, the Augustus General ignored her plea and stayed on his objective to take them all in.
Before they will be taken to the other side of the gate, a few dragons exiting from the gate and start to fly in the skies of Ginza. When Luke take a closer look at the dragon, he realize that there are some knights that riding on it, known as wyvern knights.
The last thing Luke sees before entering to the another world is that the Army of Augustus Empire are now almost occupying half of Ginza district and all of his friends and teachers are becoming prisoners with some Japanese civilians, foreign tourists, a man in a suit, and a man in chauffeur uniform that gets dragged by the horse.
"I think I should visit the doujin store first before go to the convention but…which comic I should buy?" Itami thinking which comic series he will buy today while playing 'Zapad-Azuma Blast!' on his mobile phone. "Alright then…schedule for the surrounding circles check…if the new weeklies over there are sold out I still have some doujin books I buy from the doujin shop."
Before Itami steps onto the escalator, he heard an interesting conversation about 'flying creatures' behind him and at the same time, he also heard a loud sound like a dragon roar. He turns around and sees a few people pointing their hands at the dragon that flies between the Ginza buildings.
"Shit! At this rate, the summer event will be interrupted!" Itami's ranger mode has been activated, he knows that it is a real dragon and not the fake one or illusion. He proceeds to search the location of Imperial Palace by looking at the displayed map on the wall.
As his index finger is searching the location he meant, the dragon he sees suddenly fly towards him. Fortunately, that thing isn't eating or catching him or the civilians that are on the bridge.
"Officer-san! Please start an evacuation to the Imperial Palace!" Itami requested a favor to a police officer while showing his JSDF badge that written 'Second Lieutenant' in kanji hiragana.
"Y-yes sir!" said the Police Officer. Kanayama Genji. He pulls out New Nambu M60 from his pocket and then orders every civilians to follow him to the Imperial Palace.
At the time where Itami and Genji were escorting the civilians, one of the Augustus Wyvern Knight squad flew towards them and the knight prepared his spear as he try to impale his target. Unfortunately for him, he fell from his saddle after Genji shot the dragon three times with the revolver.
Either today is his lucky day or not, but that knight isn't dead yet after he fell from the dragon he rides. Even though he barely just survived, his luck only lasted for a moment because after he gets up and runs towards Genji to kill him, Itami suddenly tackle the knight and stab the knight's neck. Ironically, the knight itself is killed by his own knife after Itami use it.
All of the civilians are gathering in front of the Hanzou Gate after the police order an evacuation.
"To every civilians in here, please enter the Hanzou Gate now!" said Commissioner of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. Yoshito Okazaki as his forces now opening the Hanzou Gate.
"They're gathering at the double bridge! Reinforcements from the Sakurada Gate—" Itami still worried about the status of other Imperial Palace gates.
The Castle that was built by Tokugawa had never experienced a battle before. Ironically, after hundreds of years of peace, the palace finally showed its value as a fort to protect tens of thousands of people.
"The 4th Armoured Division, elements of JGSDF and an Asahi Destroyer are on their way!" Police Sergeant. Kunio Kusano reported about the reinforcements to Itami and every polices in there.
Five minutes later; 3 Komatsu LAV, 3 Type 96 APC, and 3 Boeing AH-64 Apache are approaching the site and started counter-attacking the Imperial Army with 12.7 mm M2HB machine gun (Type 96), Sumitomo M249 LMG (Komastu LAV), and M230 chain gun (AH-64).
It still doesn't end there, the JGSDF soldiers were also counter-attacking the Imperial Army using Howa Type 20, Howa Type 89, Sumitomo MINIMI 5.56mm, and Sumitomo Type 62
The poor Imperial soldiers tried to protect themselves from the bullets of Japanese soldiers rifles with their shields, but they're no match for a modern bullet since it can easily penetrate the shield with only one shot, no matter it is a 5.56x45mm NATO or 7.62x51mm NATO. Not only the Imperial soldiers that got killed, the JGSDF are also killing the orcs, goblins, and demi-humans that Imperial used as 'volunteer soldiers'.
Colt Formal watched in horror as his troops are annihilated so fast by the JSDF. He then orders the remaining troops he has to back off and retreat through the Gate Portal. Before he and his troops entered the gate, he saw twelve dragons are being killed by the JSDF AH-64 Apache with AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and AH-1S Cobra with M61 Vulcan minigun.
"I can't believe this…how could the country we invade has such a powerful magic that can beat our dragon squadron?" said Colt Formal as he is escorting his troops back to their land while looking at the Japanese attack helicopters.
When Colt Formal and his troops have reached the other side of the gate, he sees a squad that was led by one of his comrades. But what makes him confused is that his comrade isn't there with his mens, so he asks them, "Where's General Mathusela?"
"H-he…is killed by one of those 'flying steel'…" one of General Mathusela's soldiers answered Colt's Formal question.
Back to Ginza, now the Riot Police Unit begins to run towards the Imperial soldiers to start neutralizing and arrest the enemies with the baton and tear gas launcher, "Arrest them! Don't let them run away!"
Meanwhile inside the Imperial Palace. Itami finds a lonely young girl in a blue dress. Feels sorry for her and tries to comfort the girl. He approaches her, "What's wrong? You can't find your mom and dad?"
The girl nodded at Itami.
"Well, let's go look for them! Don't worry, I'll make sure of it!" Itami offers his hand to the girl as a sign to find her parents together.
The girl starts smiling at Itami and then take his hand.
"Damn…I couldn't buy any doujinshi…" said Itami in his mind with a disappointed face.
July 7th, 2027/Urtarrila 5th, 790
Kurume Senior High School, Tokyo, Japan
"In the face of disaster, this man rose up and assisted in evacuation and rescue efforts, saving the lives of countless local civilians and foreign civilians. This brave hero, known as the hero of Ginza and hero of Nijuubashi, is the pride of Japan!" Yonezawa Saikaku praise Yoji Itami in his speech along with the clapping of Itami's comrades.
"We will now proceed with the commendation." Tatewaki Akamatsu continued the process. Now we can see that Itami has a pair of Captain insignias on his shoulders. He has been promoted to Second Lieutenant to Captain.
"Second Lieutenant. Yoji Itami!"
"Yes, sir!" Itami replied what Saikaku said at him.
As the flash camera start to twinkle in Itami's back, he memorized and realized that the incident that happen in the same day of the doujinshi convention and makes the event cancelled. So, his head start facing the ceiling and started crying.
"What's wrong with you?" Saikaku is puzzled with Itami's behaviour.
"It's nothing, sir!" Itami replied while crying about the cancelled convention.
Several days later…
One week after the incident, Prime Minister. Shigenori Hōjō made a speech about the attack and the intention to send troops to the other gate.
"As a matter of fact, this area is not listed on any maps. We have no way to know what lies there or what it looks like. It's a complete mystery. We apprehended many of the attackers in the incident. Currently, they are nothing more than law-breaking criminals. Or in other words, they are nothing but terrorists. Bringing down the gate will not save the problem. Rather, it may lead to the opening of another gate elsewhere in Japan. Thus, we will be considering the land beyond the gate, the Special Region of Japan. Moreover, to learn what lies beyond the gate, as well as bring any forces there to the negotiation table, we have deemed it necessary to go beyond the gate, despite the risk of danger."
Then, a shared screen on the left of Hōjō's speech screen shows how many Japanese citizens is captured and missing that day. Then the unexpected thing comes into them, not only showing the Japanese citizens, but it also showing how many foreign citizens also become victims in Ginza Incident. The data shows the missing of Russian Ambassador to Japan, All 12th Grade students of St. Cornelius High School from the United States, some German tourists & exchange students, and some unidentified nationalities. This means only three foreign countries that involved in this incident for now.
"-In order to investigate the Special Region, seizing the ringleader of the Ginza incident, securing compensation by force, and rescuing civilians from both countries. The Japan Self-Defense Force side and the Japanese government have decided to make an alliance between the United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the Federal Republic of Germany; both armies will be dispatched to the other side of the gate. Regarding the missing or killed civilians will be informed until further notice-"
Itami turns off the television and lies his body on the bed.
"I wonder if I'll get time off for the winter event to visit unique places on the other side of the world..." Itami looks at his fantasy mangas, wondering if the world on another side of the gate is the same as the comic he bought.
July 11th, 2027/Urtarrila 9th, 790

"My fellow Americans. Our world now is facing a new era. An era where our world finally connected with another world which we will call 'Gate'.
But then, when that phenomenon happened. The soldiers who come from the other side of the gate abducted and took the innocent lives of any Japanese, American, Russian, German, and any other nationalities who were present in that place where the Gate was located.
We are thankful to the bravery of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, and the Special Assault Team of Japan who fends off the enemies back to the other side of the gate and rescued the civilians during the incident.
Unfortunately, the fate all students and staff faculties from the 12th grade of St. Cornelius High School of Austin, Texas were all captured by the enemy from the other side of the gate. This is a tragic thing that happened to America. Those staff faculties are also a father, a mother, a son, and a daughter of someone; and those students are also a son or a daughter of someone else.
Today, let's forget about our differences; we are not Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, Americans, British, Russians, Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, French; or any other nationalities, races, religions, and ideologies. In facing this new world, we are all united as the Earth people.
As you all have watched the incident on the news yesterday, you all can see that the Japanese military fought against the unknown monsters and humanoids that are very match to what we believe that it's just a fairytale; such as Elves, Goblins, Orcs, Trolls, and many more.
Yesterday, I have met with NATO Secretary-General. Dominik Szőke, to trigger the "Article Five", we declared that this is just not an ordinary war, this is a war to protect our world from the threat of extra-terrestrial. I also hope that it's not only NATO countries who will raise their arms against this new enemy, but also all countries who are willing to participate in this war to protect our beloved Earth. Thus, I alongside a few global leaders established International Task Force Alliance, but since the first countries that will enter the gate are only the United States, the Russian Federation, the Federal Republic of Germany, and Japan; we will call this temporary alliance as Quadrilateral Expeditionary Forces until new countries joining our alliance.
Not only that but today is also marked as one the most important history in our world since the collapse of the Soviet Union; their predecessor, the Russian Federation, is willing to help us in this war after the Ginza Incident happened.
Our relations with Russian Federation may be always strained, but if we look through history, we have always helped each other since the Independence era. Russia helped us during the Independence war and Civil War with the Unionists, and we paid it off by helping them during World War II by sending food, weapons, and other supplies. Not to mention, our joint operations in Syria and Afghanistan have been successful to keep those countries safe from the insurgents.
After my meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan. Shigenori Hōjō, President of the Russian Federation. Leonid Gerasimov, and Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. Serafina Unterberger. We were authorized to be the first four countries to do an expedition to the other side of the gate.
Today, I declared this moment as the beginning of the Multi-Terran War. We will fight this unknown enemy with our allies. But that doesn't mean we will act recklessly towards the locals in that world.
We are a young nation, however, we always overcome those challenges. We'll beat those threats before and we will do it again.

"Dear Russian people, friends. Russia once again face another dark fate a few days ago.
I will begin with the summary that I got from the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Denis Vinogradov when comes to Japan right after he hears about the incident.
During the incident, the enemy who comes from the other world took so many innocent civilians. Especially the Japanese, Americans, Germans...and Russians. Yesterday, he told me that our ambassador to Japan, Bogdan Rubashkin, is also become one of the people who was abducted by this unknown enemy. Not only that, our comrade seaman in the Russian Navy, Leytenant. Pyotr Savrasov has also become one of the victims of this cruel other world enemies.
I declare a minute of silence, to bow our heads to all victims of the Ginza Incident.

As I said before. Our country has faced so many challenges and dark fates, and yet we can overcome those challenges.
We have fended off so many invaders since 1812, no matter how strong they are and how much they are, we always succeed in keeping them off from our Motherland.
Recently, I received a call from the Prime Minister of Japan. Shigenori Hōjō, President of the United States. Charlie Johnson, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. Serafina Unterberger, and NATO Secretary-General. Dominik Szőke; about their plan to enter this new world to secure the gate from the other side and fight against this unknown enemy. They want our country to cooperate in this operation.
I know that our country's relations with the Western-bloc countries always don't get along. But as the proverb says, "Yesterday's enemy is today's friend.". Especially to our best frenemies, the United States. We remember when we helped them during their early period when they were still a young nation, and we also remember when they helped us in World War II with the "Lend-Lease program" along with the United Kingdom and Mongolia. I also do not forget about our cooperation such as Apollo-Soyuz in the space program or joint military operations in the Middle East.
Thus, Russian Federation declared war against this unknown enemy. Today, our warriors of different ethnicities and nationalities are fighting together, shielding each other from unknown power like brothers.
But yet, we will not act as we please because know that beyond that gate, there are probably so many innocent people that actually don't know about this war or even didn't want this war.

The formed alliance of Quadrilateral Expeditionary Forces spark major clashes all of the world, as countries like the People's Republic of China, Ukraine, Georgia, Republic of Korea, and the United Kingdom disapprove of the formed alliance. Prime Minister of China. Wang Chunhua says the alliance are only an excuse to get natural resources from Special Region exclusively for that four countries only. President of Ukraine. Yaroslav Demydenko says the Russian involvement can disrupt the democratic world.
But still, since ITFA opened to every country, there are so many proposals from each representative to add more countries to the alliance itself. Ironically, the United Kingdom and the People's Republic of China are also requesting themselves to the Four Major (a new designation for Quadrilateral Expeditionary Forces members) to allow them to join the alliance; not only the French Republic, Republic of South Africa, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Federative Republic of Brazil, Canada, Republic of India, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Kingdom of Sweden, Kingdom of Netherlands, Republic of Serbia, and even the State of Israel also propose the Four Major to let them in.
Despite their differences and heating political situation (such as Israel and Iran & India and China), they still insist to join the expedition as the Special Region and Gate is a unique phenomenon. These two phenomena are also proof that there is another world in this universe.
But of course, any argument that other countries use to disapprove of this expedition alliance and proposal to join the expedition can be countered by the data of civilians' nationality that get abducted by the people on the other side of the gate. Sooner or later, they need to work together.
Then, the day comes…for Quadrilateral Expeditionary Forces to enter the gate. Marking the Multi-Terran War and later...ITFA intervention in Special Region.

In front of the Gate; each of the American, German, Japanese, and Russian soldiers are gathering in two rows of twenty people, which means the QEF will deploy 60 ground soldiers from each country, for a total of 240 soldiers.
Behind them, there are several mixes of MRAPs, Utility Vehicle, and Main Battle Tanks that will provide them against the enemy on the other side of the gate. The vehicles they bring are:
- International MaxxPro XL (From United States side. Quantity: 2. 1 per 10 American soldiers)
- Humvee M1511 (From United States side. Quantity: 3. 1 per 8 American soldiers)
- GAZ Tigr-M (From Russia side. Quantity: 5. 1 per 9 Russian soldiers)
- ATF Dingo 2 A3.3 (From Germany side. Quantity: 6. 1 per 8 German soldiers)
- Toyota Mega Cruiser BXD10 (From Japan side. Quantity: 3. 1 per 16 Japanese soldiers).
- M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams (From United States side. Quantity: 4. 1 per 1 crew) [1 crew of M1 Abrams is 4 people]
- T-72B3 obr.2016 (From Russia side. Quantity: 5. 1 per 1 crew) [1 crew of T-72 is 3 peoples]

The Japanese soldiers are wearing their latest camouflage pattern, the Type III and their full gear equipment like Type 88 helmet, Bulletproof Vest Type III, JSDF combat wearing set, Combat Shoes Type 2, gloves, and holsters. The weapons they are carrying right now are a Howa Type 20 assault rifle and Sumitomo MINIMI 5.56mm machine gun; the FN SCAR and FN MINIMI sisters from East Asia; as their main weapon, and an H&K SFP9-M as a secondary weapon. Even though they were using the modern standards for the army, their samurai spirit and politeness will always stick in their heart.
Next to the Japanese soldiers are the god of war of the 21st century, the American soldiers are also wearing their completely latest gear equipment with the camouflage pattern called Operational Camouflage Pattern. Just like what you see in the Hollywood movie about American soldiers, the Americans always prioritise every of their equipment to become the state-of-the-art the world. These soldiers are equipped with M27 IAR, M4A1 carbine, M110A1 CSASS, M249 light machine gun, Beretta M9, and SIG Sauer P320.
Then, next to the United States' true rival/frenemies and probably the one who can match them, the Russian soldiers are wearing their full latest gear equipment based on the Ratnik program and their digital camo called Единая маскировочная расцветка/Edinaya maskirovochnaya rascvetka, or also known as the EMR camouflage. They are no longer called an 'outdated army' after some Japanese, German, and American soldiers see how many years the Russians have been advancing their tech and leave their Soviet doctrine about "Quantity over Quality". Now the Russians just prove it by showing the types of equipment they use right now for the expedition. The weapons that Russians are using are the AK-12, AK-74M, RPK-74M, SVDM, and MP-443.
Then the last, the one that can make the world fear them in the 20th century, the German soldiers are wearing their full combat gear with a Tropentarn camouflage. They may be not strong as in the 1900-1945 era, but don't you ever underestimate them. Their elegance and menacing aura are still sticking to their appearance today. They are equipped with Heckler & Koch G95, Heckler & Koch G28, Heckler & Koch MG5, and Heckler & Koch USP.
Back to the situation, a few soldiers see some civilians laying flowers to the dead or missing of their relatives and friends.
Then, the Prime Minister of Japan, Shigenori Hojō, enter the podium and start to make a speech before the soldiers entered the gate.
"On behalf of me with President Charlie Johnson, President Leonid Gerasimov, President. Mathias Enzensberger and with the support of political officials from each side, especially the United Nations, this bill has been adopted, and now, at last, we are ready to dispatch our soldiers to the Special Region. All of you, the mission you are to be a part of is highly important!"
After Hojō finished with his short announcement now it was for Rikushō (Lieutenant General). Kōichirō Hazama entered the podium, alongside his counterparts from the United States, Russia, and Germany.
"We are your commanders now, I am Kōichirō Hazama from JSDF. Now the people that standing next to me are Lieutenant General. Harry Washington from the United States Armed Forces, Lieutenant General. Vasily Voroshilov from the Russian Armed Forces, and Major General. Eberhard Brinkmann from Bundeswehr."
When Itami look at the memorial site, his eye sees the same little girl he met at the incident with her mother right now. Not only was Itami doing that, but one of the Russian soldiers also looking at an old grandmother and (probably) her daughter crying and praying at a photo of a man wearing a Russian Navy uniform. Coincidentally, the Americans are also having the same fate as the Russians because one of their civilians that missing in the incident is also a serviceman too, this time is a Sergeant of the United States Marine Corps.
"Everyone, today, in here, I declare that Operation Stargate, begin." said Lieutenant General. Hazama, snapping back at everyone.
