"You mean you planned the whole thing?" asked Watson excitedly.
"Not all of it Watson." I corrected "Helsing thought of most of it."
"Please Mr. Holmes, I couldn't have pulled the whole thing off without you." said Helsing, opening the doors to the outside, where the sun began to peak above mountains "I think I'll head for home. I may even put away my weapons for good and retire."
"Very well." I nodded as Helsing began walking off the hill "And try to lay off the liquor."
"I will." replied Helsing, waving goodbye.
Before Watson prepared to depart I noticed Mina standing at the doorway, staring into the clouds.
"Will you be coming with us Mina?" I asked.
"No thank you Mr. Holmes. I believe I'll stay right here for now."
"It was good meeting you Ms. Harker." I said, reaching my hand out for her to shake it, which she did.
That evening in the town of Transylvania, Watson and I stood on the docks, waiting for a ship to pick us up to go home to England. While we waited for the ship to dock, I heard Watson scream from behind me. I turned around to see him swatting at something with his hat. Before the poor creature flew away, I grabbed it in my right hand and held it gently. I looked down into it's eyes. It's calming blue eyes. I set it free and entered onto the ship.
"I'm surprised." I whispered to Watson.
"By what?" Watson whispered back.
"The whole time in that castle I didn't even take a puff from my pipe."
While we stood there laughing as the ship began to move I reached inside my pocket and took out my old pipe. With one hard fling I watched it sail through the sky and splash into the blue water below.
"Did I see you just throw away your smoking pipe?" asked Watson, wiping a tear of laughter from his left eye.
"I finally decided to take your advice." I smiled, knowing that the worst was finally over.
At least... I hope it's over.
The End
