The Pearl creaked and groaned as the water beneath her rose and feel with the pressure of the Kracken below. She was helpless to make a stand, especially with what remained of the crew sailing away on the longboat. Ah, well good luck to them. Their lives would forever change after these moments, she knew that. If they thought they would be able to forget and move on with their lives, carry on as if nothing had happened and just raise a toast every now and again for brave old Jack and The Pearl – well, life just didn't work that way. They would never forget.
She was helpless to assist her Captain, chained to the main mast. Look at him now. Struggling and swearing, trying to pull his arm free. Never giving up. Not even at the end. She knew how he had struggled for ten long years to get her back, his beloved Pearl. Rescue her from the cursed pirates, the cruel ones who had abused her for so long. And then he had come back, taken care of her and they were one, once again. Until now.
She felt the Kracken's slimy tentacles embrace her hull and then slowly raise up to full height to face Jack Sparrow. Mouth open, the Kracken blasted Jack with some sort of saliva or gunk from the belly. Jack being Jack, didn't seem to mind too much. He was with his Pearl after all.
And then it happened – he raised his sword and threw himself into the mouth of the monster, knowing he would never come out the other side. A final battle cry, a blood curdling yell and then he was gone. Was that a smile on the mouth of the Kracken?
Her tentacles wrapped and wound their way around the Pearl, pulling at her masts, and then there was a sickening crack as she broke in the middle. And slowly, slowly, she felt herself sinking and being dragged down to the depths. But it didn't matter. Without the Captain, she didn't want to sail anyway.
That was what Captain Jack Sparrow was you see – not just a hat and a coat and a funny walk, that was what he needed – but what he WAS – what Captain Jack really was – was freedom.
THE END
