Hermione Granger's First Job

Hermione shook her head to get all of the dust out of her hair. When she did her scrunchie flew off.

"Aghhh!" She screamed frustrated as this was not the first time it had happened.

"Something wrong dearie?" Miss Greenstone asked.

"No, mam." Hermione replied putting her hair back up. Normally she wouldn't bother but this was her first day at work. Her parents had decided it would be good for her to get a job before her sixth year. They had told her that she needed to get away from the books. They weren't very happy when they found out that she had gotten a job in the local bookstore.

Now Hermione was going through all of the books in the back room. I wonder when the last time any one was even back here, thought Hermione.

Looking around she groaned and frowned at herself. She normally was happy at facing a challege but right now she was ready to throw a tantrum. Maybe it was because the "room" was as small as a closet and was so dusty she couldn't breathe. What made it worse was that the books were piled all the way to the ceiling!

Miss Greenstone the owner wanted her to go through all the books and right down the names and authors. The only thing Hermione had got done was knocking down two piles on her head and covering herself in dust.

Still frowning she went up front to get a pen as the last one she had disappeared around the time the second pile had fell.

"Miss Greenstone, may I have a new pen?" She asked.

"Here, now go and hurry. We are having a sale in a week and I want it to be through," said Miss Greenstone acting the complete oppisite of the way she had been acting.

Hermione just shrugged it off and went back to work. When she reached the end of one pile three hours later, she got up and stretched. She decided to go take a bathroom break while she was at it. Walking back to the room she heard Miss Greenstone talking low to a customer. She ignored it and went back to work.

Thankfully the second pile went an hour quicker than the first pile. Cracking her neck she sighed. She loved books but doing this every day even she would not want to see a book for a while.

When she went to grab a book from another pile they fell upon her head once again. Knocking them off of her she glared at the books on the floor. That's when a a title caught her eye.

"The Dark Magick of Horcruxes," read off Hermione. She shrugged and put it in a pile that she would read later.
