Author's note: I was in the mood to write a light, heartwarming story, so I decided to update this.
Just to make clear, Alisa is a human in this story, not a cyborg.

Chapter 1
At First Sight
"Are you joining us to ski for vacations?" Xiaoyu heard Asuka's voice from behind, so she stopped reading her book and turned to her. "Steve and his crew are going, too! Isn't it great?" Asuka continued.
Xiaoyu could easily imagine her jumping for joy.
"Steve, right? At last, you will get the chance to talk to him there," Xioayu replied, collecting her books. "But honestly, I'm not sure about taking vacations."
"How is that?" Asuka frowned at her.
Then, Xiaoyu carried her pink bag on her shoulder and left the library, followed by Asuka.
"I'm looking for a part-time job," Xiaoyu finally said.
"So, you're planning to work once the semester is over?"
"Yeah, because my scholarship will be over, too, you know?"
"Sorry to hear that," Asuka sighed.
"Cheer up! Isn't Steve going to ski with you? I bet you a drink that he will be your next date," Xiaoyu said happily as she patted her friend's shoulders.
"You're totally wrong!" Asuka mocked with a mischievous smile.
Xiaoyu knew Asuka had an incredible, natural talent for flirting; her striking appearance didn't go unnoticed. Instead, Xiaoyu had flighted to Japan, in order to study college. She always looked on the bright side of life, that was her gift, besides being a brilliant student.
Later that day, Xiaoyu came to her apartment which she rented with an exchange student from Russia. After living as roommates for several months, Alisa and Xiaoyu had become friends, mainly because of their experience of studying abroad.
"Xiao!" Alisa greeted cheerfully as she heated two instant ramen bowls in the microwave. "I was waiting for you."
"I'm all ears," Xiaoyu gave a hint of smile, placing her bag on the velvet sofa.
"I know you were looking for a job, so… I just found one for you!"
Xiaoyu was very amazed, even she stopped eating the ramen bowl which Alisa had given her, previously.
"What are you up to?" Xiaoyu asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I heard a friend's Korean neighbor was looking for a babysitter, so I talked to him about you. He will receive you tomorrow morning." Alisa beamed and then added with puppy eyes, "do it for me, please."
"Of course, I will," Xiaoyu said with excitement and hugged her friend, gratefully.
Nervous, Xiaoyu crossed her fingers as she waited in front of an apartment, until an ashy-haired man with a ponytail opened the door.
"An-nyeong ha-se-yo," she greeted in Korean and bowed to him. "I came here for the babysitter job. Can we talk about it?"
The Korean man gave her a blankly look, he then motioned her to come in.
As Xiaoyu entered the apartment, she took her sneakers off and left them near to the door, wondering if a child truly lived there, since she sensed inside the same lonely, sorrowful air which emerged from the man.
She looked around and found several pictures of a woman with almond eyes, prominent cheekbones, and auburn hair; those pictures were on a wooden table, giving life to the plain, yet tidy living room. Soon Xiaoyu realized the Korean man had lost her beautiful wife, so he had become a loner since then, and he wasn't the friendly father that she had expected for the babysitter job.
"Very well," Baek cleared his throat, "you have to know our schedules are not flexible: my younger son has breakfast at eight o'clock before school, he has dinner at seven in the evening, and he sleeps at ten. Also, he has Taekwondo trainings every Monday and Thursday in our dojang."
He stared at Xiaoyu, who was taking notes on her mobile phone.
"Don't let him watch television more than one hour, otherwise it will promote his idleness," he finally added.
"All right," she nodded.
"Tell me, Miss, have you ever worked with children before?"
"I used to look after my nephew once in a while. How old is your son?"
"He's six. Fifteen years younger than my older son."
At once, Xiaoyu heard Baek calling his younger son in Korean. A sheepish, freckly child came to the living room and stopped right behind his father, attempting to hide from her.
"Yeon doesn't like to speak, but he does understand your language," Baek assured.
"I see," Xiaoyu said softly as she met Yeon's curious eyes. Then, he gave her a gentle smile and she returned the gesture, naturally.
At first sight, that child seemed to be mysterious, yet warm-hearted.
An-nyeong ha-se-yo means "good morning" or "how are you?" in Korean. It can be used in formal or informal situations.
