Chapter 1: The Dark Project

Silas was never one for complacency. When the world governments went into exile following the Great Crash of 2014, and with the assistance of the up and coming Liandra corp, managed to pioneer a new frontier: Time Travel. A successful test run bought back a specimen of unknown quantity and an element of unknown origin. Silas soon found himself as Chief MIT in charge of server upkeep.

It was a darkly lit room with access reserved for only the most priveliged people. He had full access.

Scientists jumped at the chance to use time travel to fix the past. In keeping with Liandra's strict requirements of utmost secrecy, Silas and others repaired many aspects of History, killing only those that knew too much. One day, he stumbled upon an encoded file on the mainframe. He hacked the file and discovered something highly disturbing.

"This is Frederick Jone, date is September 4th 1978. We have caught what we believe to be the first of many creatures we are dubbing The Fallen. As to why, the reason is apparent. They lack any form of cognitive function, have no visible stomach but move quicker than wind. I think they are some primal version of werewolf that nature killed off with the Dinosaurs. We have here a gene sample-"

Screaming followed as the creature got lose and scurried into the vents. Silas advanced the video by three hours.

"She's a quick creature. We found her, chained her to the pylons and fried her. As I said, we have a gene sample. It is extremely resilient to the elements. We've frozen it, set it on fire and even burned out a microwave trying to defrost it. It has the properties of Lead and Osmium but is as light as a feather. I dropped a piece on a coworkers foot by accident. Not three seconds later, the flesh literally fell from the bone. Object is highly Corrosive, further testing has revealed a sizable gene discrepancy. DNA is fragmented. Someone named Wu obviously was playing God. We've quarantined the isotope in a storage locker. The name of the assets found are to be renamed PROTEUS until such time that we can fix this...disaster"

Silas heard the alarm go off and forced a download. The file was moved to his USB drive. He got rid of the most recent log, rebooted the servers and left.

"This is not a drill, containment of asset PROTEUS is of highest priority. Levels D3 through F6 are to be cordoned off and purged. All personell evacuate the facility. This is not a dri-"

The lights went off and emergency power kicked in. A shrieking howl could be heard in the darkness, followed by the screams of a scientist.

"Oh god, no! Get away!"

A sickening crunch followed by the sound of flesh ripping followed. A very deep guttural growl emanated through the halls.

"Please Jesus...Please help us" cried one of the scientists.

A human head rolled onto the floor, mouth still trying to speak. Another shriek was heard and the lights went back on.

"rill...please get to your transports. Security has been notified and is on the way"

The scientists didn't hear, they were scared out of their wits.

"What's in the next room" asked Amy, a fair haired brunette of twenty eight years.

Another scientist piped up.

"It's an experiemental teleporter but it only goes to one location"

Amy asked where that was

"France, it goes to France."

Blood dripped from the walls and Amy looked up. Another drop hit her eyes and she opened her mouth to scream. The hell hound like creature was directly above them.

"GET TO THE ELEVATOR!"

They packed into the elevator and seemingly breathed a sigh of relief as the doors closed.

"Going up. Now heading for F6...error in system...now heading for corridor F2 alpha"

Amy beat against the walls

"NO! NONONO! LET US OUT!"

She was hysterical and screaming.

"What's in F2, Amy! What is in F2" asked her coworkers.

Amy composed herself and said

"Death...Paddock 33A corridor F2 houses Asset 071A"

"Meaning" asked her Coworkers

Amy composed herself and spoke, tears in her eyes.

"Russian scientists managed to fuse Proteus DNA with the Indoraptor to make a creature that has the genes of a werewolf and all the capabilities of the Indominus...We're dead"

The elevator stopped and the doors opened. security could be seen getting cut to ribbons as something massive slaughtered them and tore a hole in the wall. Her heart stopped as cold blue eyes shone from the darkness.

"Head for floor 17, take my transporter and get to France. We have contacts there, ask for Jeremy. This isn't him, this isn't XANA, this is something else! GO!"

The elevator closed as the creature tore into Amy. Her screams permeated the halls as she went limp.

The elevator doors opened and the rest of the scientists got into the waiting shuttle.

"Where's amy?" asked the pilot

"She's gone, head to France, we need to put a lid on this and fast"

The shuttle left for France. Outside the sun was setting.
