She had always hated thunder and lightning... And He had always known that. I guess that's what happens when you have someone to grow up with. Even now that they were in this place, far from what they called home, it still didn't stop her from coming to him. Sure, they had rooms right next to each other (Thanks to Aerith... and Squa- err.. Leon)But it wasn't enough. Especially on stormy nights.
So there she was, standing on the side of his bed in her pyjamas. She whispered his name softly and shook him gently. "Wake up"
"...ngh..." He answered, voice husky from sleep as he turned over to look at her. "Something wrong?"
"The storm." She sat on the foot of his bed, hugging the worn, stuffed blue bunny.
"Mm hmm..." He looked at her with his dreary eyes, still half asleep.
"I was wondering..."She began in a quiet voice. "If I cou-" A crack of thunder intrrupted her along with a lightning strike soon afterwards. She flinched and held onto the blue bunny even tigher.
"Mmm..." He sat up and cast a sleepy glance at her. "Could you say it again?" He had always somewhat enjoyed these late night storms. It gave him time to comfort her... Something that could never happen during the day.
"Could I... stay with you...?" She asked, voice barley audible. "That is... for the night." She looked down at the blanket.
"I can't hear you... Come here." He yanked her arm and pulled her next to him.
"That was my ar- Eee!" She squeaked out as the light and sound struck again. She practically dove under his covers.
He chuckled, "Couldn't sleep?"
She simply nodded, too embarrassed to say anything else.
"Fine." He replied with a small smile on his face. "Just take go to sleep... Night." He yawned and turned the other way. Soon after you could hear his even breathing. She sat up and glanced over at him, droning out the sounds of thunder outside.
The moonlight seemed to make his light spikyhair seem to glow. It was almost unbelivable how a guy like him could keep his hair so... soft. She reached out to touch it and giggled. It wasn't everyday that you met a guy with hair this soft. Quietly she placed the blue bunny called Momo next to Annabelle, a rag doll that she had given him a fewyears ago. She knew he would never say it outloud, but he had always had a little soft spot for rag dolls. 'Sissy man... But he's cute...' She giggled softly.
She once again got comfy and slipped under the sheets. She stared at the ceiling until her eyelids became heavily. Soon she gave up and closed her eyes. This was as close as she'd ever get to him. She knew this... but it didn't stop her. After all, she knew this would be the last time.
He was leaving tomorrow.
She was the only one he told.
It's true not everyone has a happy ending.
