Chapter 9

"Whaaaa!" Everyone in the classroom looked towards the window. Suddenly something blue flew in spreading glass everywhere.

"Mission accomplished with…" Sousuke looked at his watch. "…5 seconds to spare." (Anyone who reads Full Metal Panic! Overload may recognize this.)

"What the hell were you thinking? Blowing us through the window like that! I mean c'mon look at all this glass everywhere. You're such a big stupid head! Jerk! That's no way to handle a woman." Kaname grumped crossed her arms then turned away.

"But Chidori you said you didn't want to be late. If you didn't wait for me, you would have made it. You are the one who did not let me go to my apartment to get fresh clo…" Sousuke had no time to finish as Kaname's fan sent him out the window and on to the floor.

'Damn him. Why can't he keep his mouth quiet some times? He almost said too much.' Kaname was blushing. Luckily she was looking down with her head out the window at the disorientated ex-sergeant. She was afraid to turn around. Had they heard too much? After getting her facial colors under control she slowly turned around only to be face to face with Eri Kagurazaka.

"Hello Ms. Chidori while you are not late you have indeed disrupted the class." Ms. Kagurazaka smiled. There hadn't been any excitement in her life since those two left. Though she'd probably go crazy again, it was good to have them back.

Ms. Kagurazaka held her hand out towards the desks. "You should take you're seat."

Suddenly Ren's voice came over the loud speaker. "Will Ms. Chidori please report to the Student Body Association Room."

Kaname hadn't even taken her seat yet and she was being called away. "Great what didn't I do now…?"

"Welcome Miss Chidori." Hayashimizu made sure to greet her the second she opened the door. Kaname glanced around the room. The students who had taken over for them some months ago were there. So was…

"Sousuke why are you hear?" Before Sousuke could answer Hayashimizu opened his fan. This time it said Rejuvenation.

"That is why I called you here. Sagara explained the explosion this morning. You should be happy he looks out for you so well."

Kaname's face began to twist in anger. Hayashimizu was still covering for Sousuke. "Do you call being blown through a window looking out for someone."

"Why are you angry? He kept you from being late. Unlike yesterday when none of you showed up after school. But on to business we have important matters to discuss." He closed and placed down his fan. He then pushed his glasses up his nose and held his finger there.

"I will state this bluntly. We would like you and Sagara to accept you're former positions in the association. The ability to get things done has been slowly declining. We do not have anyone with the skills Mr. Sagara had. Students have given up information out of fear of numbers of opponents they face on their delivery. Also aside from Ms. Mikihara we have no one else that quite lived up to your skills."

Kaname looked at the new Student Body Association members. Hiromi Sasaki, Kashi Sogata, and Hiroshi Kurata were shivering from their latest encounter. (Yui Morigawa was the new president until Hayashimizu took over because of her breakdown. Hiromi is current vice president. Hiroshi is the secretary, and Kashi is the treasurer. Ren is the current auditor. Was any way she took over as secretary when Hayashimizu returned to power. Hiroshi became auditor.)

Hayashimizu followed her gaze to the befuddled students. "They failed their latest assignment. I had them deliverying a classified envelope to TASESS. They failed miserably. Therefore I would like to reassign you two. Even with the peace of Sagara being gone other schools have also taken advantage of the absence of disruption. Many were angry or scared after the fight in Tokyo months ago. I hope you will reaccept your positions in the council. I hate to say this but we NEED you two."

Sousuke saluted. "Yes sir, I will accept the position immediately."

Kaname took a moment to think. Here's her list.

Less time with Sousuke. Well he will be escorting her so maybe this doesn't count. Less time to do what she wants with Sousuke. Bad.(there)

Advantage of shifting things around for her favor .good.

Not having to place her trust in some other student to plan trips and such. Good.

List continues with her increasing her power.

"I accept." She saluted imitating Sousuke as best she could. Hayashimizu smirked.

"Well you two are officially the vice-president Chidori, and chief of Defense Sagara. It's good to have you back. We should all return to class you will be informed when you are needed."

Kaname noticed the former student council was jumping for joy as they left.

Sousuke and Kaname quickly left as well. Sousuke was watching Kaname, for some reason she was counting her fingers. Didn't she know how many fingers she had?

Kaname was recapping on the events of the morning. Sousuke slept over again so they woke up a little later than usual. They were late because of it. She had to take a shower. Sousuke was guarding the apartment while she did. Then he had to go to his apartment to bathe, dress, and gather his equipment. She chose to wait for him rather than leave. She made some breakfast at his place. Then they rushed through every light, jumped over every car, ran from Wakana…again. Then she got blown into a window just so she wouldn't be late just to be called to the council room and given back her position as vice-president. Her life was hectic. But at least Sousuke was with her. When she finished she noticed he was staring at her like she was crazy. "What?"

Sousuke quickly looked forward. "Uhh…no problems." He couldn't tell her he thought she might have a mental problem if she needs to count her fingers in the morning.

Kaname quickly stepped in front of him. "What's going through that otaku head of yours?" She poked her finger into his chest.

Sousuke sighed prolonging the inevitable would only bring him pain.

"Kaname I believe you may need mental assistance if you need to count your fingers that many times."

Kaname sighed. She realized what he was talking about. She knew he was clueless. He could have asked what she was doing, but calling her stupid would not due. The harisen was less than forgiving on his scalp.

"I was counting off a list of things that happened this morning you big stupid head. Jerk! Military misfit!" She began to stomp away.

"But Kaname I am no longer affiliated with any kind of mili…" An old magazine collided with his face. Paper objects are stopping his speech a lot lately. When he removed and threw away the paper he noticed Kaname was still stomping down the hallway. He had to do something worse than usual for her to do a hit and run. He frowned.

Kaname was not in a good mood when she entered the classroom. She quickly resigned to her seat. Kyouko kept trying to get answers to explain her mood. She'd figured it was Sousuke's fault but she didn't want to upset Kaname more than she already was. Sousuke walked in about 30 seconds after her. After looking at her he silently took his seat.

The time to lunch seemed to be eternity but it finally made it. Everyone but Shinji had been ignoring Sousuke today. Even Kaname. Sousuke sighed, he must have really upset her he thought. Sousuke looked up when he felt a presence of someone approaching him. Ono-D was staring straight at him.

"OK Sousuke. I gave you you're chance to apologize. Instead you sit here all day. Don't you feel bad about what you did, or are you really like all those other war guys." It was more of a statement than a question. Sousuke looked up at him puzzled. The whole class decided it was time to eavesdrop.

"But I already apologized before I left." Ono-D was about to grab Sousuke by his collar but decided it would be safer not to.

"You can't apologize right then and there! You can't just waltz in and expect everything to be ok. You need time to think before you apologize." Ono-D never sounded like this before.

"Fine, I apologize." Sousuke still looked clueless.

"For what, we did have to clean up the classroom after you busted in." Ono-D was grinning.

Sousuke placed his hand under his chin. "I apologize for all my actions that were not necessary."

Ono-D began to break out in laughter. "It's good to have you guys back! Hey wanna check out what I showed Kurz yesterday?" Ono-D slapped his arm around Sousuke's neck. "Before that though." Ono-D stood up and stepped away. Sousuke was pummeled my paper balls from every almost every student in class except for Kaname. He looked around. No one seemed to resent him anymore. No one except Kaname right now.

I need to apologize to her Sousuke thought as he began to rise from his seat. Suddenly loud screaming could be heard coming from down the hallway.

"SAGARA, SAGARA, SAGARA!" could be heard along with the opening and closing of doors. Suddenly the door to the class burst open.

"SAGARA, it's time for our rematch." Issei Tsubaki rushed in and grabbed a few male students before finally grabbing Sousuke.

"Sagara!"

"Put your glasses on Tsubaki." Sousuke was glaring at the young martial artist.

"Shut up! You got everyone hurt and Kaname captured let's go finish this now!"

"Fine." Sousuke didn't really want to fight, but maybe he could think of something if he did fight . 'Why did Kaname get angry? How do I make her feel better? 'Sousuke pondered these thoughts as Tsubaki led him out to the field.

"OK SAGARA , I'm ending this in one move." Tsubaki crossed his arms up to his shoulder. "Jin-Ryu school of martial arts ultimate technique!" Tsubaki launched straight for Sousuke with incredible agility. "Devil smashing fist!" Tsubaki thrust his fist out a front of him a white aura emanating from it. "It's over Sagara!"

Sousuke bent down, and began to rummage through his bag.

"What!" Tsubaki tripped over Sousuke, fortunately he was caught by someone before he landed.

"Tsubaki-kun I knew you cared!" Mizuki was now crushing him in her arms.

"Oh no!" Issei quickly broke free of her and went rushing across the field. Mizuki was close on his tail.

Sousuke was loading his weapon. Suddenly he knew how to make Kaname feel better. He apologized to Ono-D and the class. They forgave him. In fact they seemed pretty damned happy. He could apologize to Kaname. At least as a start. Sousuke quickly put away his weapon and began standing up.

"Tsubaki I'm sorry but I do not have time to battle you…" Sousuke looked around. "Hmm… Maybe he realized he had to do something as well." Sousuke slung his bag over his shoulder and made his way to the classroom. He decided to walk slowly to think exactly how he would apologize. He remembered Tessa getting mad at him for the way he rushed to apologize like it was so simple. Finally he reached the classroom. When he was about to reach for the handle it slid open. Suddenly he was face to face with Kaname.

"Uhh…Chidori, I would like to apologize for upsetting you. I'm sorry." Sousuke lowered his head afraid to meet her gaze.

Kaname's face tinted pink. He actually apologized. Really apologized without being told to. It took him sometime but he did it. Kaname wanted to kiss him but settled for patting his cheek. "It's ok Sousuke." Kaname had completely forgotten why she was about to leave the classroom.

"Oh are you hungry?" Sousuke finally raised his head. "No it's not a…" his stomach betrayed him when it grumbled, sounding like an angry bear.

"Obviously it is a problem." Kaname smiled as she retrieved the bento she had brought for him and placed it on his desk. She didn't plan on giving it to him before but now, she would cook him food right now just to celebrate the occasion.

Once Sousuke finished he returned Kaname's bento box to her. She smiled, he nodded and thanked her. He couldn't look away however. The pleased look in her eyes captured him. He would need to work on not getting caught in her eyes anymore. Kaname blushed when she noticed his stare then turned away. A small smile crept onto Kaname's face when she turned Maybe today wouldn't be so bad.

WRONG!

Kaname and Sousuke were walking down the road to TASESS facility. Memories of their first time having to come here together flooded Kaname's mind. But those didn't bother her. She had a lot of homework to do for her missing school. Luckily because of the circumstances her GPA wasn't affected but she still had work to do. Luckily they gave her a test first to see how much they would need to give her. She did good enough to not get too much work. What really made her angry was Sousuke did better than her. Except in Japanese history of course. Aside from that he had less make up work than her, even in math and science! Oh well if she spent her time teaching him Japanese history and nothing else they would finish faster and she could tutor on something else.

Once again Kaname was swept with the anxiety of wanting to pry the envelope open. Hopefully Hayashimizu wasn't sending them out for something like school uniform deficiency again.

"Chidori is something wrong." Sousuke noticed how annoyed she looked.

"Chi...do…ri… Sousuke." Kaname didn't glare at him. She looked at him out of the side of her eye with that annoyed look.

"Uhh… We are…It is school hours." Sousuke kept looking forward. Suddenly Kaname was in front of him.

"So if we were in my apartment, you'd call me Chidori…?" Now she was glaring at him.

He began to sweat. "Negative it's just that…we're in public and may soon run into other students."

Kaname sighed. She knew he was right, but she wouldn't tell him that. So she worked it in her favor.

"But there are no students around Sousuke. Now before I get angry kiss me and we can go."

"Uhhh…Kaname we are in…" Her glared stopped him cold. Then her face changed to that of sly amusement. He knew where this was going.

"Sousuke… You do want to sleep at my apartment again, don't you?" She purred the whole sentence. Sousuke began to sweat. That face, and that voice. He should just get if over with. Sousuke placed his hands on her waist and lowered his head. Suddenly he sensed something move. Before he finished his descent he opened his eyes. All he saw was yellow.

"Too bad. You get nothing. You know you don't seem to enjoy being around me." With that Kaname stepped back from him and began walking. "C'mon Sousuke.

He sighed and began following. He was relieved and disappointed. Kaname giggled in front of him. She stopped when she noticed a group of guys in front of her.

"Not again…" Kaname began rubbing her temples. Memories kept coming at her. Kaname looked at Sousuke's back when he suddenly stepped in front of her.

Great something so stupid a group of idiots wants to get their hands on it. Kaname sighed at the thought.

"Give us the damn envelope!" One of the large guys in the front spoke first.

"Negative. Stay out of our way. Any hostile action will result in retaliation." Sousuke frowned when the group didn't disperse.

"Fine, come as you please." Luckily the whole group rushed at once. Sousuke quickly pulled a grenade out of his pocket, pulled the pin, and threw the grenade at the stampede. A loud noise echoed out as the non-lethal stun grenade took out most of the group. Some of them were blocked from the explosion by others next to them. Sousuke quickly took a fighting stance as the rest ran towards him. Sousuke elbowed the first one in his stomach knocking him out. Another student came from the side with a chain in his hand. When he lashed out with the chain Sousuke caught it.

"What in the…oomph!" He was quickly silenced when Sousuke pulled on the chain, pulling his opponent close enough for Sousuke to punch him hard enough to break his nose and put him down. Sousuke's last opponent was the biggest of the group at least 6 feet. He clasped both his hands together and swung at Sousuke in a downward motion. Sousuke ducked low enough to dodge his attack then leapt hard slamming his knee into his opponents face. With blood spurting from his nose he fell backwards unmoving after he hit the ground. Sousuke turned around to make sure Kaname was ok.

She had already walked past him. "C'mon Sousuke."

He sighed then smiled. Despite all that she had been through, she was strong. Kaname was indeed still Kaname.

Finally they returned to Jindai. Kaname handed Hayashimizu the envelope. He swiftly took it then opened the top.

"This was indeed important. If only we had you two for our earlier attempts. Take a look at this."

Kaname sighed then fell back into a chair.

"What is it?" Sousuke quickly took the papers from Kaname's hands. Sousuke read the article.

'Students eyes lust. School Bathing suits still too skimpy. Student. A says: I love swim time. My school bathing suits for the girls don't hide much. Should students of different sexes be aloud in the same pool?'

Sousuke placed his hand under his chin. He really couldn't figure out what to make of it. He decided to just hand the files back to Hayashimizu.

"Once again it's good to have you back and thank you both." Kaname waved goodbye as they left the room.

"Well Sousuke schools out. So whatcha wanna do." Kaname was counting off the seconds to when they would be far enough from the school to show affection.

Sousuke looked at his watch. "It is still early Kaname so there are a lot of things we can do." Sousuke continued looking forward. His eyes shooting around to look for anything suspicious. Finally they reached the alley type clearing. When they turned into it and were halfway through Kaname leapt on Sousuke.

Kaname snatched him into a passionate kiss while they were grounded. Sousuke unconsciously wrapped his arms around her then returned the kiss. Luckily no one was walking by to see them. Kaname finally came up for air.

"I needed that." Kaname smiled then sat up. She was still on top of Sousuke but now he had space to sit up.

"Affirmative." Sousuke rubbed his head as he took a seated position. After about 10 seconds he blushed. Kaname was sitting on top of him. Not just that however. She was sitting pretty much on top of there, with her legs on each end of him. He of course began sweating like an office nerd after a 10 mile hike.

"Kaname maybe you should switch positions." Sousuke gulped, not the best choice of words. Kaname looked down. You could literally see her colors darkening through each shade of pink and red possible. Then she got that sly smile again. She's 17 she deserves some fun, if he can't handle it too bad.

"Which position do you prefer, though this one seems pretty comfortable." She used that seductive voce, with the purr. If this wasn't based of an anime Sousuke would have soaked his shirt. Of course that didn't mean he was defenseless.

He caught Kaname off guard when he caught her in another passion filled kiss. She was even more surprised when she felt his tongue licking across her lips. She felt her nipples harden from the sensation of his actions. She slowly opened her mouth, and Sousuke quickly darted his tongue inside and began exploring her mouth. Sousuke was taking his time enjoying the sweetness of Kaname's taste. Kaname likewise was being captivated by his taste along with his actions. If Kaname was surprised by his actions he was astounded. He never dreamed he would be doing this, much less start it. He began to feel the ache of his erection straining against his pants. Unfortunately for Kaname it still reached far enough to get to her. Kaname shivered for a moment when she felt his pants rise to meet a place they probably shouldn't right now. Kaname began to feel a craving coming from her loins that screamed for attention. Kaname reached her arms around his neck and then ran one hand through his hair. Unfortunately Sousuke broke their embrace. He was breathing hard enough to be considered panting.

"Uhh…. Forgive me Kaname I don't know what came over me." He knew what came over him, her first of all. The way she purred, looked at him, everything. But that was only part of it. He should be able to control himself but after what happened while he was going after her, some things became harder than others.

Kaname was blushing incredibly. She realized she didn't do anything to stop it. In fact she fueled it. Of course he was able to stop. He didn't say anything about continuing it elsewhere. That was good. She didn't think she could go further. After realizing she was still on him she quickly stood up. Sousuke did as well. He turned away from Kaname his face still red. She blushed when she realized why. Then she smiled. She would need to work on it but at least she learned a few things. Nothing bad.

He wasn't in some hurry.

She would need to work on her self-control. Of course this was Sousuke, plus she never felt like this about anyone else before.

She definitely had affections for him.

He could take things into his own hands sometimes.

Considering she started most things in the relationship that last one was a good thing. But only if the rest of the list stayed intact. There are other things that don't need to be mentioned on the list. After that they settled on holding hands as they headed to her apartment.

"Actually Kaname why don't we go out to eat. Then I can walk you home. Then I head back to my apartment." Kaname nodded.

They did just that. Nothing else happened since then. He gave her a light kiss before he headed back and she entered her apartment.

Sousuke was walking down the street instead of heading home. He hoped Kaname didn't call his place, but if necessary she would call his cell phone if he didn't answer there. Today was by far the craziest day he'd had since they both got back. He almost did something he didn't think he should do. Especially not in public. Luckily no one came by. Travis hadn't called since Sousuke visited so nothing could be even close to coming up. Suddenly Sousuke grabbed his head in pain. He closed one eye as he tried to ease the pain. His eye had turned all red. His iris and pupil had no difference. The white of his eye had a strange shine to it. Weird colors dancing across it. Fortunately the few people nearby ignored him. Strange images and words played across in his head. Then suddenly faces.

Sousuke's body began getting cold. Very cold. He was starting to go numb. His muscles were cramping on him. Suddenly blood began to dribble from his mouth.

"I need to get somewhere safe if this is going to happen again." Sousuke didn't like the sheer randomness of this. He was lucky no one he knew had seen him go through this, but he wasn't comfortable with strangers seeing it either. Sousuke slowly began taking small steps back to his apartment. He was only about half a mile away.

"How is he?"

A dark figure was standing above a capsule.

"Considering the extreme damage the body had taken. The limited amount of tissues and horrible body condition period, this is pretty good."

Another figure was holding some kind of pad.

They both looked down at the figure that floated in the pinkish-red liquid.

Details couldn't be made out but it definitely had a figure.

The figure without the pad grinned. "Excellent."

-Tuatha de Danaan-

Tessa was sitting in her captain's chair. She was bored to death. They had destroyed their biggest threat a few days ago. Sadly because of her probation she had to be diligent, but she doubted any of her subordinates would tell on her if she didn't pay absolute attention. Melissa, and Kurz had left as well to take a break. All that was left was weak terrorist groups. They had taken out 3 in the past few days. Kurz and Melissa took a break now because they knew they would have to take another to watch Tessa since Sousuke was no longer on any kind of duty. She was disappointed. She wished Sousuke was still part of Mithril. Sadly he had no reasons to be connected to them anymore. He was no longer essential to them.

"Hmmphf…" Tessa was pouting at her predicament. She still had about 26 days of this left. Mardukas noticed her discomfort.

"Something wrong captain." She smiled up at him.

"No nothing." She was a bad at lying to Mardukas. Luckily he just sighed and didn't press further.

Leonard had woken up. He was in a state of extreme shock however. He kept mumbling or rambling. Sometimes he acted like Kazuma had. Whatever Sousuke did had messed Leonard up. Fortunately before he left he had told it would be okay.

"It's not a problem, he will be fit for action in a short amount of time." Sousuke had said those so matter-of-factly she believed them. She wanted too. If Leonard was to stay like this, he probably would have been better off dead. She smiled. Sousuke spared someone who had caused him so many problems, took the women he… Tessa didn't want to think like that. He took Kaname, beat Sousuke, destroyed the Arbalests killing Al, Made fun of and constantly down-talked Sousuke. Yet he spared Leonard just to ease her pain, to make her feel better. She wondered what he was doing at this moment.

Suddenly Mardukas handed her a letter she didn't notice him receive. Tessa's eyes shot wide when she read what was on the note. "Leonard."

-Kaname's apartment-

Kaname had bathed, and prepared everything for tomorrow. Now she was sitting watching a movie about Japanese soldier who was wounded, and ended up in the care of some girl he meets in a village. The soldier learned from some of the villagers and the girl. He eventually came to love the girl, and she him. In the end the people that had injured him found the village. He with the village's samurais were able to defeat their enemy. The soldier stayed with the women, and everyone else in the village. Kaname smiled when the movie ended. She was cheering throughout the fight scenes.

Kaname sighed when the movie was over. She decided to find something else to watch. She thought back to earlier while flipping through channels. The sensations she felt when Sousuke kissed her like that. The way her body reacted. God! They almost did it right there. If Sousuke hadn't stopped first…

"I need to be more careful." Kaname thought back to her lack of ability to push him away. Not that she really wanted too, but she didn't want to go further. She remembered when she had first failed to push Leonard away on the spot. Her heart wrenched at the thought.

"I'll go to bed after this." She smiled. This one was about a secret agent.
