Chapter 10

-Tuatha de Danaan-

-0130 hours-

There was no one in the room except for the two silver haired siblings. Two guards were of course posted outside.

"Are you ok…?" Without waiting for the answer Tessa placed another spoonful of the soup in his mouth. He tilted his head slightly then drank off all the contents of the spoon. His silver hair was slightly tangled as it rolled down his back and sides. He was tired, but it was better than being crazy. Slowly his eyes crept to meet hers even though he didn't move his head.

"Teletha…" Tessa put the bowl down and held his hand.

"It's okay I'm hear."

Leonard closed his eyes then laid back. His breathing was slow and calm. He opened his eyes again to look at Tessa.

"I lost didn't I?" She only looked at him. He knew the answer before he asked the question.

"Tell me did you see who was in that AS, the one who beat me." Leonard's eyes were weak but demanding as if he knew she saw him.

"Don't be mad. He did spare your life." Tessa tightened her grip on his hand. Suddenly Leonard shot up. Tessa squeaked at the sudden action. "It couldn't really have been him. I saw him die! That bastard murderer did this, then he had the gall to show me pity. No he did it on purpose so I could suffer with my defeat!" Tessa saw the anger in Leonard's eyes. He had to really be angry to call someone a bastard. She watched as slowly his features regained their calm.

"He has Kaname… How did this happen? He was dead Mithril was… this doesn't make sense." Suddenly something clicked in Leonard's head, and he grabbed Tessa's arms.

"Did you know about this, him? Were you betraying me the whole time. It was alright as an enemy but that was…" Tessa had to force it but she was able to place her finger on his mouth to silence him.

"I did not betray you. I do not know what happened. I have not been informed of anything. You are alive he did that for me." Tessa stopped a moment to let that part sink in. "And yes he is with Kaname." That last part stung Leonard's pride, as well as Tessa's heart. Tessa's pride was stung when she was told she couldn't be informed of anything because of her probation earlier.

Tessa took a deep breath. "He is no longer part of Mithril. You are a captive aboard the Tuatha de Danaan.. I am happy you are alive." Leonard looked up at her now.

She was smiling but tears were dripping beyond her closed lids.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door. "Captain, you are needed at the bridge."

"Okay." Tessa turned one last time to Leonard then rubbed her eyes. "I'll come visit you later, try to rest." With that Tessa was gone. Leonard saw what he expected to be a guard as the door closed.

Leonard was not used to being a captive. To be inferior or under anyone's control. Even in Amalgam he was so important he really didn't have to listen to anyone. He was not pleased having to be his enemy's captive. He was not pleased the man he had defeated, called a murderer, and challenged for Kaname's heart had her, was with her now. He began pondering what had happened, and what he did wrong with Kaname before he slowly fell asleep.

-Bridge-

The door swished as it shut behind her. Tessa quickly walked up and took her seat in the captain's chair. "What's wrong?"

Mardukas stepped forward. "We are approaching target vessels. It's time for some practice."

Tessa read the information on screen, then smiled.

"Ok increase speed to 40 knots. Lower depths to 10 kilometers."

She was bored. This should be fun.

-Tokyo, Japan-Kaname's apartment-

2:00 am.

Kaname was about half-way through the movie when she began getting drowsy. So far she had enjoyed the movie. The secret agent was retired, then hired to rescue a man's daughter. He had expected the girl to be spoiled, annoying rich girl. He camped outside the plantation she was held at for three days. She hadn't looked like a captive, she was lounging about. When he snuck in to get her he almost killed her because it was a dark room. When he realized who she was he let her go only to be kicked him in the groin then. She had run off, and now they had just finished escaping into the jungle together, she proved to be quite capable. They were trying to escape Costa Rica. She apparently had some information the man who held her captive wanted but he chose to try to seduce her.

She was trying to pay attention to the rest but was starting to dose for about 1 minute at certain parts, which was disappointing since the agent was being nicer to her. He held her hand when they slept in the dark of the jungle because she was afraid but she always ended up curled up like a cat on top of him without disturbing him while he slept. She decided to make herself something that would keep her awake. She had been distracted from the movie a few times when she thought back to the earlier events in the day. She still couldn't believe herself. She figured Sousuke was worrying and scolding himself. They hadn't talked about the incident that happened. She figured she would have to talk to him just incase he felt horrible or something. She smiled at the memory, as well as blushed. Then finished making her drink, and returned to her movie.

-Sousuke's apartment-

2:10 am.

Nothing but heavy breathing could be heard in the now furnished apartment. He decided that he'd unpack everything. The first night he actually slept here. Kurz and Melissa had brought in his couch and other larger furnishing while he was away. He was glad he could sleep under his bed again. Right now he was sitting on the couch just breathing. His eyes had returned to normal, and he wasn't so cold anymore. He hated these episodes. He tried to recap on what caused such things but he couldn't get his mind off what happened today. He scolded himself. He needed to be more controlled. He would have to talk to Kaname about it. She didn't slap him, look displeased or disgusted. Maybe it wasn't so bad. He certainly enjoyed it. Except for his realization at lack of control at first he had no problems with it.

He sighed. He wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. Maybe he should skip school tomorrow. He licked his lips a moment. He could still taste the blood on them. Then suddenly out of no where the taste of Kaname took his thoughts. He quickly tried to push them away. He gave up when he realized the thoughts calmed him, as well as do other things. Maybe he could sleep if he focused on good things. He doubted it when he felt a surge of pain breakout through his body this time. He just sat there his eyes blank as the pain raced through him. He knew he should be grunting in pain, but he just sat there. This usually happened if the pain was prolonged.

Suddenly his eyes regained their life. He quickly fell to the floor. The pain was worse than before. He grabbed his arms. He decided to just let it run its' course. He would be okay by tomorrow, hopefully.

-Next Day-

-Kaname's apartment.-

Kaname was becoming worried. Sousuke was late heading over to her apartment. At first she thought it was because he was still worried about yesterday, but she gave up on that, Sousuke wasn't the kind of person to let something like that get in his way. He would have called if he didn't plan on meeting her. When she was finally fed up she left her apartment, and headed to Sousuke's. God help him if he was just sleeping in. Though she knew he wouldn't do that either.

When she reached his apartment she composed herself, then pulled out the key and unlocked the door. When she opened it and entered she found Sousuke eyes open on the floor. Gun tucked in his hand. There were blood stains on his face.

"Sousuke!" She rushed towards him but was met with his gun pointed at her, along with cold eyes. His eyes seemed to pierce her soul. Suddenly his eyes widened and he lowered his gun. Kaname resumed her rush to check on him. She cupped his cheeks in her hand then turned his face towards her.

"Sousuke are you ok, what happened?" Kaname noticed the dark circles around his eyes. He hadn't slept. His face was a bit cold, and he was pale. He looked away from her, and tilted his head lazily.

"Kaname…" A pained low whisper escaped his throat. He still kept his eyes averted. Kaname tried to lift him to sit on the couch. He quickly caught on and helped her get him up with what little strength he had. She laid him on the couch then covered him with the quilt. She ran to his kitchen, and put some water to boil. She also grabbed a regular cup of water, and brought it to him. He sat up, and drank the whole glass. His face was regaining its color. He looked at Kaname now.

"Sousuke what happened?" Kaname's eyes were big, and scared. Her lower lip was trembling slightly. She made sure to keep her hand on his arm. She's really worried Sousuke thought. He placed one of his hands on hers then laced his fingers through hers. He closed his eyes as her warmth was absorbed by his hand.

"It's not a problem, I'll be fine. Go to school." Sousuke reluctantly let go of her hand. Her eyes were still big, and obviously full of worry, but her lip wasn't trembling anymore.

"It is a problem, I'm not going anywhere. Baka!" Kaname took the glass then began walking to the kitchen. "I'm going to take care of you." She called as she disappeared around the corner. Sousuke sighed. He knew he couldn't talk her out of it. But he did already feel better since she came so maybe it was alright.

Kaname returned with another glass of water, and a wet cloth. She let him drink before she began wiping his face clean. He closed his eyes as she cleaned his face of the blood. She smiled when she saw him relax.

"You know you're going to have to tell me what happened." Sousuke's eyes quickly opened.

"Kaname I can't…" Kaname was pouting. She wasn't teasing him. She really wanted to know what was wrong. Could he tell her?

"…not right now at least." He sighed then looked at her. She wasn't smiling but she didn't look as upset.

He suddenly shivered. "I'm cold…" He looked away as he admitted it. He was surprised. Normally when this happened he would feel something else, not temperature change. Last time he couldn't stand up but at least he wasn't cold. Of course what he felt was always random so maybe this was also a one time thing. He gasped when Kaname quickly pulled herself into the cover, and snuggled up next to him.

"Let's fix that." Sousuke began to sweat. Sweating wouldn't warm him. He was still warm enough to blush however. Kaname was snuggling as close as possible to keep him warm. Suddenly a whistle could be heard indicating the water was ready. After leaving she quickly returned with one cup of tea, and the pot. She placed the pot in the tray next to the table by the couch. She handed Sousuke the cup, then once again snuggled up next to him. He sipped the tea. The tea warmed him a bit but it wasn't doing nearly as much as Kaname's body heat. Sousuke placed the cup down on the end table. He turned so he could lift Kaname into his lap. Kaname gasped in surprise then relaxed when she felt him place his arms around her. She laid her hands on his chest realizing he was getting warmer. She quickly kissed him then snuggled even closer, nuzzling her head on his shoulder. She was happy that her contact made him feel better.

Sousuke once again surprised himself but he couldn't give up the warmth of Kaname's body. He rubbed his hand in an up, and down motion on her lower back. He tried to fall asleep but he couldn't. He was warming up but that didn't ease the pain or feeling. He smelled the scent of her hair. He listened to her soft breathing as she slept. Or so he thought.

"Feel better now?" Kaname said in soft voice. Sadly he could tell she wasn't sleepy.

"Affirmative." He continued stroking her back.

"Gonna tell me about it."

"Negative."

She lifted her head to face him. "Baka!" His vision was blocked when Kaname began smothering him with a pillow.

"How about now?"

"Negative."

"If you don't tell me what's wrong I'm going to leave…" Kaname crossed her arms and looked away. She was still in his lap though.

"It's not a problem." He crossed his arms as well. She turned to look at him, she was pouting again. This time she was teasing him. He could tell by her small whimpers.

"Currently it is still negative." She grabbed his shirt pulled him so there faces were but an inch apart. He could clearly see her anger.

"Tell me what's wrong right now or…" she had to think a second. Abuse and abandonment wouldn't work. She could say she'd leave him but that wouldn't be a very good joke. Besides he might come up with something like it would be best for her. Then it hit her.

"I'll tell Kurz, Melissa, and even Tessa about it. Then you'll have a lot of people nagging you." Sousuke sighed. He knew Tessa would probably be the only one to nag, but he didn't want everyone to know. She really wouldn't tell them but he didn't know that.

"Fine." Kaname saw he wasn't pleased.

"I'm sorry, but I really want to know. Maybe I can help by doing more than just warming you up." Now Sousuke noticed she felt bad about upsetting him.

"It's not a problem. I believe you are only trying to help. Also I read it is good not to keep to many things secret in a relationship." A smile lit Kaname's face. She snuggled him once more but made sure she could look at his face.

"I need a moment to think." Sousuke looked away from Kaname for about 5 seconds before he returned it.

"During my mission to rescue you I found a strange facility as I told you before. At the facility I was exposed to some chemicals. I do not know what they do, or what they were but it randomly affects me, at random moments."

Kaname was a little confused. "So it's random."

"Affirmative." Kaname would have laughed at how simple it was. Problem is he was exposed to something strange. She had no idea how it would affect him. He didn't know either.

"Has it happened before?" She didn't dare look away. Because she didn't she saw the surprise in his eyes. He probably wouldn't want to talk about those times.

"At least tell me about a few things that happened."

Sousuke sighed. He might as well tell her since he went this far. Luckily she seemed to believe him, even if most of it was overly-simple compared to the truth. But at least he wasn't lying.

"I do not remember the first time exactly. All I remember is immense pain, strange words, and faces." Sousuke thought a moment. "Another time my motor functions were completely disabled, luckily Travis took care of me. I did not inform him of what happened however." Sousuke sighed. Kaname had been through enough. He did not need to pollute her mind even more.

"That is all." He looked at Kaname. She knew there was more. That bothered him. It meant she would want more information.

However Kaname decided that was enough, for now. She gave him a warm smile than nuzzled her head on his shoulder again. This time they were both able to find some sleep.

Sousuke opened his eyes. All he could see was a light at first. He saw many people. They all were sleeping; no one was dressed in anything. The people varied in age from infants to seniors. He looked around and that was all there was. Suddenly he felt the immense pain spread throughout his body. His eyes turned red again. Leaving no difference from his iris, and pupil. He saw a strange figure but couldn't make it out. Suddenly it was dark.

Sousuke woke without a noise or movement. He wasn't sweating. He felt like he just popped into existence. He removed his hand from Kaname's back and checked the time. It was about lunch time at the school. He'd slept almost 4 hours. He looked down to find Kaname still sleeping soundly. He rested his head back and listened to her sleep. He was ready to go to sleep again when suddenly he heard ringing.

Before Kaname realized it she was on her back, on the floor under Sousuke. He had his gun pointed out. She definitely did not want to wake up this way. When she heard the sound she quickly realized what it was.

"Sousuke calm down, that's my phone." After pushing him off, she stood up, walked over and picked up her phone from the table. He looked at the caller I.D. then answered the phone.

"Hi Kyouko." She said groggily. She yawned. She realized she was still tired after having watched another movie after the one with the agent ended. Meaning she got little sleep last night.

"Kana-chan why aren't you in school today? Spending time with Sagara-kun." Kyouko had a wry smile on the other end. Kaname turned red in an instant. She realized her quiet would say something. So she decided the truth might work.

"Yeah, I didn't sleep much last night, Sousuke here didn't sleep at all, then got really sick, and you know he can't take care of himself. So I'm helping him get better."

Kaname sighed as long as details weren't required that would work.

She heard Kyouko disappointed breath over the line. "Okay Kana-chan. Listen We're having a party for you guys this weekend. Ono-D's house. I'll tell you more about it later. But so you know it won't be a lot of people just our personal friends."

Kaname didn't mind a party but she was not in the mood for anything crazy. Ono-D would do something crazy but since it was restricted to personal friends it would be ok.

"Ok, see you later Kyouko."

"Okay, you two have fun, try to keep your hands off each other." Kyouko hung up before Kaname could protest. She hung up then made her way back to the living room. Sousuke was stretching when she returned.

"I'm guessing your all better." Kaname walked over and folded the quilt he left on the floor.

"Yes, thank you for your services." He was rotating his shoulder now.

"It's not a problem." She giggled lowly when she finished using his catch phrase.

"Well let's go get something to eat." Kaname was walking to his room to return the quilt.

Suddenly Sousuke's phone rang. She quickly reentered the room to find out what he would be talking about.

'Oh yeah my phone goes off you knock me down ruining my sleep, then crush me.' She sighed then walked up hoping she could hear his conversation.

"Understood." Sousuke quickly closed his phone. He turned to Kaname.

"Kaname I need to go somewhere. I will be back later tonight or early tomorrow. Please lock up when you leave." Sousuke gave her a quick peck then headed for the door.

"WAIT! Where are you going now?" Kaname's arms were pinned against her fist turned upwards so they stuck out.

"I have some business with Travis I will not be gone long." Sousuke turned for the door again.

"You quit Mithril, and you're still leaving to go off, and do something. I don't even know if it's dangerous." Kaname didn't look angry. She was upset. It really bothered her to still have to go through this despite all that happened. She was hoping he did not plan on doing this forever.

"I assure you it isn't dangerous. I will call you when I'm finished." Sousuke walked over kissed her lips. It was a firm quick kiss. Before Kaname could say anything else he was gone.

"Maybe I will go to school today." Kaname grabbed all her stuff then left the apartment locking it behind her as she left.

Lunch was almost over when she reached the school. Kyouko was the first to notice her enter the class.

"Kana-chan you came, but where is Sagara-kun?" Kyouko looked out the door. Not finding Sousuke she turned to Kaname.

"He ran off again." Kaname sighed then nodded.

"It's okay. How about you, me, Mizuki, Maya, Ren, and Shiori head over to your house today."

Kaname nodded again. "Sure why not. Let's just hope ex-sergeant nutcase doesn't bust in again." Kaname giggled remembering how Sousuke looked the other day then stayed obediently face down on the floor.

"I could use some girl time." Kaname, and Kyouko began talking about other things that happened, and she quickly stopped worrying about Sousuke.

-?-

"…" Sousuke grimaced as he read the information on the screen.
