Chapter 14

Kaname woke up to a sweet smell. She was not a morning person however. She rolled over, and moaned a bit. She slowly took in how her bed felt different. How her quilt was simple. Her pillows, much rather pillow was the only thing under her head. She barely opened her eyes to notice her room wasn't pink. Disregarding these newfound differences she looked at her clock. It was a standard clock. Not the bird alarm she was used too. The time said 4:13 am. It was still early. She sniffed the air. The smell was really good. She felt her stomach motion a bit indicating its want. Kaname pulled the sheet off her and sat at the side of the bed. She wasn't wearing her pajamas, but a simple shirt and a skirt as well as socks. She brought her hands up and began to rub her eyes. Suddenly reality hit her. She was not in her own room. She looked around frantically taking in the different features. She began to relax. Though the room was not hers she recognized it very well. She wrapped the warm cover around her. Though it was not incredibly cold outside. It was spring. It is usually cold, or warmish in spring. Mostly the former due to the constant clouds in the sky, and the frequent raining, which happened only 1/3 as much for the rest of the year. She dragged her feet, eyes closed as she followed the smell. She slowly opened her eyes when she reached her destination. The light bugging her caused her to blink a few times before she could finish opening them. She blinked rapidly when they finally adjusted.

"Ohayo Kaname." Sousuke was making breakfast. His voice wasn't cheerful or down. He was blank as usual.

"Ohayo Sousuke." Kaname took a seat at the table, his cover still around her. "What happened last night?" Kaname was watching him intently. She smiled when she noticed he was actually wearing an apron. Not unusual for Sousuke, just strange for the morning.

Sousuke continued his work at the stove. "I believe you fell asleep in the near beginning of Cashern. After I took you to my bed, covered you, and let you rest." Sousuke moved from the stove tending to something Kaname could not identify on the counter-top.

Kaname placed her hand over her mouth as she yawned." Where did you sleep?" Kaname grinned when she noticed Sousuke flinch.

"Uhh…"

"Well Sousuke." Kaname was leaning her cheek on her open palm, her elbow supporting her with the table.

"I returned to the living room to deactivate all unnecessary accessories. Once complete I checked the security measures then headed to the room. I slept in the bed."

Kaname's grin grew wide. She couldn't help it. This was fun, though she was not really trying to amuse herself, she really was curious.

"Well did you stay on the end all night? You didn't say you slept under the bed so did you stay by yourself, or did you join me." Kaname knew the answer she felt he was there even while she was asleep.

"Uhh…I was going to rest on my end. However…"

"Soooousuuuuke. However…" Sousuke shivered as his name crawled up his spine from her mouth.

"However you had removed the cover in your sleep. Seeing as it is cold recently I attempted to cover you back up. I did not think it through. I leaned over you to reach for the cover. You grabbed me, and held me when I finally returned the cover. Not wanting to disturb you I did not move." Sousuke finished breakfast at the same time as his explanation.

"Breakfast preparations are completed." Sousuke walked over with two plates in his hands. He froze when he looked at Kaname. The blissful look on her face was breathtaking. He quickly took control as he finished walking over placing the food down, then sat across from her. All the while that face followed. He couldn't help but stare at her. He actually felt warm despite the cool temperature of the spring morning. He quickly turned to eating his breakfast. Kaname didn't say anything else as she ate hers. Once they were done Sousuke washed the dishes. Kaname offered to help but seeing as she was still tired he told her not to.

"Let's go to bed Sousuke we have school in a bit. I need all the rest I can get." Kaname slowly trudged to the room.

"But Kaname…"

"Sooooouusuuuuke." Kaname smiled as she looked back. She knew he would shiver again. She also knew it wasn't a bad shiver. She began walking again when the light turned out behind her. Before Kaname could reach the room two hands clasp each end of her waist. Kaname wasn't surprised by the contact. Sousuke was too stealthy for his own good. But Kaname was too tired to bother with it right now.

Kaname crawled into bed. When she noticed Sousuke stayed on his end again she didn't bother protesting. She just crawled over and snuggled against him. Sousuke flinched, but placed one hand on her waist, while his other lay on the back of her head. He squirmed until they were in the middle of the bed. Kaname made a low noise signaling she was content. She laid her head on his chest, one arm reaching across it, her other lightly played with his hair but soon stopped. She was immediately asleep. Sousuke listened to her slow balanced breathing. He lightly kissed her forehead before laying his head back onto the pillow. He took a deep breath before he let it out in a sigh.

"What am I going to do?"

--

BEEP!BEEP!BEEP!

Kaname's hand slammed down on the device making the offensive noise. Kaname slowly raised her head to look at the time.6:45am.

"Huh, why is the alarm going off before seven in the morning Sousuke." Kaname was not in the mood to scream. She was still tired. Though Sousuke hadn't moved she knew he was awake. If he even went to sleep.

Sousuke brushed his hand through her hair a few times. Lifting strands then watching them slowly fall back to the blue wave on Kaname's back.

"We have school today. I expected you may want to get up early so you can go to your apartment to change, and gather your materials." Sousuke said it too matter-of –fact like for Kaname's liking. Not that any excuse would have sounded good this early in the morning.

Kaname moaned then turned over. Tugging the warm cloth around her.

"Couldn't you let me sleep in. I mean we did already eat breakfast. I got my things ready last night. My shower could have been fast." Kaname was practically mumbling. She was still half-asleep, which was too awake for her.

"Negative, I believe you would enjoy a long warm shower. Since we ate breakfast you could take a longer one." Sousuke stretched over to where Kaname was huddled then began lightly moving her. He didn't use force because he did not want her surprised or to give her any adrenaline rushes this early in the morning. He had a lot to do today. He would be checking the security measures at the school, as well as trying to make-up for some foul-up of the previous council.

Before Sousuke could finish thinking Kaname had quickly spun around then clasped her arms around his neck. She pulled him into a deep kiss. Sousuke immediately responded by placing his arms around her waist. Sousuke rolled her on top of him so he didn't have to struggle with his arm going between her, and the bed. He leaned his head upward to deepen the kiss. Surprisingly Kaname began pressing his lips with her tongue. He immediately let her in teasing her with his tongue. They enjoyed the feel, and the taste of each other for about 5 minutes. This time Kaname broke the kiss lifting her self so she could look at Sousuke. She had a longing look in her eye but it was controlled. She smiled sweetly at him which got her a blush from him in return.

"See that wasn't so bad, and it was easily taken care of. I stopped. Though you should be careful, considering you do want to be careful. Your poking implies a lot of things."

Sousuke turned incredibly red. He realized what Kaname meant by 'poking'.

"Uhh…forgive me, I am not used to physical contact much less intimate physical contact." Kaname lightly kissed him again.

"It's okay. I'm not in a hurry either. We'll be careful." A wry grin appeared on Kaname's face.

"About that long shower. Would you like to join me? It would probably be more enjoyable." Sousuke didn't sweat or blush this time. A soldier needed to be prepared for any situation. First he would need control.

"Affirmative that sounds very satisfying."

This time Kaname turned beet red. She hadn't expected that response. She expected him to be shy again. Of course if he could be even little forward, like he was now. Things would be a little easier. She still struggled inside with the thought. Sometimes she wondered what would have happened if they had spent the missing 3 months together.

"Maybe another time. I'll go get my stuff then go over. You stay here, and get yourself a shower." Kaname put a finger to her lip as she thought a moment. "You should take a cold one." With that Kaname kissed him one more time then leapt off. There was no way she would let him have the last word. Before Sousuke had collected himself she was already out the door.

Sousuke ran a hand through his hair. "Playful banter is indeed a dangerous battle. I will need to be careful. Kaname far exceeds my skill."

Thirty seconds later the water in Sousuke's shower was running.

-Train Station-

"Kaname wait up! Now that your back how would you like to go out with me, seeing as you're not with Sagara and all." Kaname turned around, she saw Satoru Shirai walking towards her at a speedy pace. Kaname looked at her watch, there were still a few minutes before the train arrived.

"I told you a long time ago no, and now I'm telling you. Though just for the sake of curiosity, were you dumped again, or did you drop a girl this time so you could ask." Kaname took offense at his saying she wasn't with Sousuke, though it was unjust because no one actually knew about them. So she ignored it.

"Actually I've been single for about a week, and I heard you were back so…"

"SO YOU DECIDED TO BOTHER ME! YOU THINK I'M SOME CHEAP GIRL YOU CAN PICK UP! GET LOST!" Kaname was well aware of Shirai's habits, and how he liked to "pick up" girls.

"Bu-"

"Is this man bothering you Kaname?" Sousuke walked up carrying two cans of juice. Kaname had sent him to fetch some when they entered the station. Shirai swallowed when he saw Sousuke. Past incidents began playing themselves in his mind.

"Is…is...is he st-still your bodyguard?" Shirai's teeth were chattering.

"Yes." Sousuke didn't know if she was answering his question or Shirai's. Better not to take chances. "Here." Sousuke handed Kaname the can then pulled out his gun, and fired right next to Shirai's feet. He quickly went off running.

A loud crack rang out as the harisen collided with Sousuke's skull.

"Ow. Kaname what was that for?" Sousuke rubbed his head as he turned to Kaname.

"That was for shooting a gun off in the middle of a public station. Look at those poor scared people." Sousuke followed Kaname's pointed finger to the groups of people standing around in fear. When Sousuke turned back to her his lips were lightly pressing against hers.

"That was for getting rid of him. He might not even come to school today now. Hopefully no one we know is nearby." Kaname looked around.

"That is not a problem. I made sure no one was near. Shirai was the only one, ad he has been disposed of."

"Ok then." Kaname rose to kiss Sousuke again. This time he leaned down to meet her.

Just then the train pulled up. Sousuke and Kaname quickly entered. The train was unusually packed. Sousuke, and Kaname squeezed through until they found a spot with a bit more space. Unfortunately Kaname and Sousuke were still forced to press together. Their faces red the whole ride, though they didn't say a word.

Kaname stretched when they finally got off the train. She was tired, hot from the collected body heat in the cart. "Are you alright?" Sousuke walked up behind her.

Kaname nodded. "I'm fine. We should go before we're late. I wouldn't want to fly in through the window again." Kaname started walking Sousuke quickly walked up, then slowed his pace when they were even.

"Kaname I will not be attending class today. I will be speaking with the principal, then Hayashimizu today." Kaname turned her head to Sousuke.

"What why? If all you're doing is talking to them why will you not be able to attend class?"

"Apparently there is some old business that is a priority situation that needs to be taken care of. Please inform Ms. Kagurazaka for me."

"Wha- Sousuke!" Kaname stopped in front of him. "You may be doing your make-up work very well but you still need help in Japanese history. Today we have a big test on it. Can't you tell them to wait."

"Negative, this is a very important mission. I will take the make-up as soon as possible. Now as you said we should go." Sousuke walked past Kaname. She sighed then turned to follow.

-Jindai High school-

"Why am I here? I thought this was just for Sousuke!" Kaname waved her hands around at the principal.

"We are aware of Sagara's talents however as vice-president it only seems fit that you help him." The principal smiled at Kaname. "Then send Hayashimizu he's the president."

"That true, but Hayashimizu is a third year student, he has other responsibilities, and that fact that he is the president so he has other responsibilities to take care of. It seems fair that you do something." The principal rose then looked out the window.

"Uh, but…fine" Kaname slumped her shoulders in defeat. "How long will these errands take?"

"We'll make sure they're spread accordingly so they do not disrupt you too much. Also we will give you certain benefits for this service."

"What benefits?"

"That has not been decided Miss Chidori." Hayashimizu finally spoke up. "Though I assure you they will be up to par as proper benefits for the task."

Kaname scratched her head. "Ok, ok fine. I'll do it."

The principal turned toward Sousuke. "As for you before you go I need to give you this." She handed Sousuke a slip of paper. Sousuke quickly scanned the contents.

"430,098 yen. I assume this is a bill."

"Yes for your disruption this morning." The principal sat back down.

"I was unaware of the school's current construction conditions. I will be more careful. The bill will be paid by next week. I apologize for the inconvenience."

"Thank you. The necessary info is in a folder in the Student office."

Hayashimizu looked at the principal. "Yes it is I have it stored I will prepare it for them now. Come Mikihara-chan." Ren smiled happily before she followed Hayashimizu out of the office.

"Miki…hara…chan. When did he start to…" Kaname turned to Sousuke. He had a knowing look on his face. He turned to Kaname. "What?"

"Dismissed." The principal picked up her coffee as the two left.

"So you going to tell me what that was about?" Kaname had her eyes slightly closed her eyebrows low.

"Huh?" Sousuke just looked forward.

"Atsunobu calling Ren Mikihara-CHAN. He used to say Mikihara-kun."

"Oh, that is not a problem. That day I was talking with him. Remember right before we uhh… held hands to your apartment. After Atsunobu and I finished speaking he said someone was waiting for him. It was Mikihara. I assume they consummated a relationship then. As I now call you Kaname instead of Chidori, I assume he uses the suffix -chan now, instead of the basic one signaling simple familiarity –kun to show his affection. If they had hid their relationship at first that was about 3 months ago. They may have accepted others knowing by now if they ever did keep it hidden at the start."

Sousuke kept his face forward through the whole explanation not even blinking.

"Oh." Kaname looked ahead after that. Not saying anything else as they walked toward the Student office. She started thinking about how significant it currently seemed that Sousuke called her Kaname more often.

"Here we are." Sousuke opened the door for Kaname to enter.

"Ah. Sagara, Miss Chidori I'm glad that principal did not keep you long. Your first collection of tasks is in this folder." Hayashimizu handed Sousuke a vanilla folder.

Kaname quickly snatched it from him. Their first task required that they

"Plan a field trip. For next week." Kaname kept rereading the paper. It was a make up trip for the past two failures. This field trip was supposed to be a vacation style trip.

"Why are we planning a trip for next week? Shouldn't we have more time? Since it's a vacation we'll need more time. And these other tasks, how do-"

"I will help plan the field trip, I can easily cover travel. I know a wide variety of places that are good for relaxing. I have connections that can help. They will be more than glad too. Kaname has skill in handling these situations so I will leave most of the decisions up to her. If she chooses to change anything she may do so without my consent. I will try to make the other tasks easy, and quickly done while still on an efficient success level. I hope that is not a problem your Excellency."

Kaname stared at Sousuke in awe. Ren started pouring some tea. Hayashimizu snapped his fan closed. "That is indeed not a problem Sagara, in fact it is excellent. I will leave the rest up to you two."

"Yes sir!"

"Ok."

Sousuke, and Kaname left the room. "I can't believe we have to do this." Kaname kept looking over the other jobs. This was going to take a while.

-Tuatha de Danaan-

Leonard was in a dark room. After filling out some papers he was moved to this room. He had been under interrogation for 3 hours now. After that he would have to the matter of seeing about joining Mithril. He still wondered why they would give him such a chance. They seemed very capable currently. So why would he be given a chance to join? He stared at the mirror that was obviously a window on the other end. He smiled at the mirror. He knew his sister was on the other side. So far he had been cooperative. So no torture had befallen him. Problem was there were a lot of things to cover. He figured if he cooperated they would let him join with out too much difficulty. He had no doubt there were plenty of people who objected to his joining. He remembered Tessa was very pleased when she walked in to see him and the first thing he said was. "I'll join."

He watched as the two men from before walked back in. "Ok let's continue. Do you need anything first."

"A bathroom rest would be nice." Leonard kept his eyes on the taller of the two men. He was not the speaker.

"Fine you'll be escorted." The tall man hand-cuffed him then lead him to the restroom area.

When they entered the tall man locked the door. "You received the papers. I'm glad you agreed to join. I will give you some information every now and then."

Leonard turned away from the tall man. "Do you plan on betraying them?"

"No Mithril is a good organization. After the advancements were made these past few months they got even better. However it was still interesting having you as such a strong enemy." The tall man removed his glasses to show blue eyes.

"Fine. I'm sure we'll speak later." Leonard washed his hands then exited the restroom with the man. They returned to the interrogation room, the man replaced his glasses on his face.

"Now let's continue this time. A glass of water is there if you need to drink."

Tessa watched. She wasn't happy, but she wasn't sad. The interrogation was going smoothly. Soon her brother would be joining the organization.

"Sir he's ready sooner than usual. Also he's better than we expected. We'll run some test ASAP, then get him going through therapy." The female scientist showed the man information on the computer screen.

"I see. This is good. We can be ready sooner then usual as well. This is excellent. Make sure his physical therapy goes well. Remember he's crazy." The man walked out the room right after.
