AN: My first fic, please point out where I did wrong so I could do better in the future, also please note I'm still reading DxD so errors may occur.
It was a void, that of eternal light, a void where none but the white light existed, perhaps it was a dream, perhaps it was just an illusion, was this even reality?
And within this boundless realm something else lay, floating peacefully in blissful slumber, not caring, not aware, simply indulging in the pleasure of a sweet restful sleep, here it lay dreaming.
Yet something happens, a twitch here, a slight movement there, and it's awareness is filled with the white void that gently hugs it, and soon it is awake, even if it's still drowsy after a long time of blissful sleep.
And so with half lidded eyes, it looks around slowly taking in its surroundings, and it grew confused, at first it didn't know why, but as memory after memory slowly returned to mind, it's awareness of how odd its surroundings actually were have made it more confused.
'I don't remember this at all? Is this a dream?' The soul thought, trying to rationalize the situation, 'Yet why does everything feel so… Familiar? As if I've been here before…' The soul thought, simply trying to find why everything felt so familiar as if they had waken up in their own home, yet at the same time their mind supplied that this was not home, this was a foreign place, so alien to their previous experiences.
Truly a strange sensation, to see a place as home yet not recognize it in the slightest. 'Perhaps this truly is just a dream.' The soul thinks gazing at the white void, soon they grew bored staring at white oblivion and prepared to indulge in the simple pleasure of sleep.
After all they felt comfortable here, it was warm, homely and it felt like they were lying on the clouds of heaven, a truly wondrous sensation, as if lying on the most comfortable and luxurious bed known to mankind, although it was a foreign place, it was simply that comfortable, and soon they almost drifted off to sleep.
'So nice, I don't want to leave, maybe I could dream this dream a bit longer?'
Yet before they could drift of to a peaceful sleep something whispered at the edges of their mind, they could barely even hear it, like a whisper from the void it spoke, calmly, and with a voice filled with power and authority, Dominatio mea egredi
The soul could barely even caught what it said, before finally drifted off, departing to the land of dreams.
When they woke up again, it was as if a switch had been flicked, there was simply no delay between the peace of sleep and the alertness of being fully awake, and they immediately looked around and noticed they were in an unfamiliar place, a vast cavernous space lay around them, dripping stalactites adorned the ceiling, and stalagmites hugged the ground below, and directly below them lay a small lake.
Yet there was something wrong. 'Why am I so calm?' they thought, surely waking up in an unfamiliar place would cause a great degree of panic, yet it did not, so curious they decided to search their emotions why.
They were indeed calm, yet they were merely calming themselves down to a more manageable state, as the panic they were supposed to be feeling was indeed still there, although it was being temporarily suppressed, a layer of security to prevent rash decisions.
And with their newfound calmness they look around once more, and notice something off.
There was not a single source of light in the cavern, not even a pinprick of light, yet they could still see as if it were broad daylight, 'Somethings wrong, I didn't have that ability before. Am I still dreaming? No that can't be, It all feels so real, so genuine' They thought, calmly observing their surroundings once more, taking account the detail surrounding them.
They then decided to look down once more, after realizing that they were above a lake, what could they be standing on for such a view?
And they look down. They saw the lake's surface, and they realize they are standing on nothing. They are floating above the lake. And they look on in wonder, marveling at the sensation of flight, 'So this is why I felt so… Floaty? Light? This is quite amazing!' They think, and they try to move. It wouldn't do them any good if it turned out that they were completely stationary, they thought.
And with a mental command, they move, and a sense of childlike wonder fills them 'Woah I'm flying!' They thought in excitement relishing the gift of flight.
It continued like this for a moment, going up and down, doing little spins in the air, yet it was doing them that they noticed something was wrong. Rather, they'd noticed them before, yet it was just ignored in favor of the wonder of flight, it was only now that they looked closely at the matter.
From the edges of their vision, they could definitely see something was wrong, where there was once a hand lay an armored gauntlet, nearby a tablet floated above their wrist, written on it were various engravings in a language that was most definitely one they didn't know about, yet they could make out what it said, as if they'd been speaking and reading the language for all their life.
They gazed upon the tablet and read its scripture, and 'Wait aren't these the ten commandments?' they look at the tablet, curious why it had portions of the biblical script engraved within it, yet they decided to ignore it for now, as they decided to gaze upon their body more, looking at its almost alien structure.
Where there were supposed to be feet, lay something that looked akin to a dress? A robe? They couldn't make up their mind about it, and where their torso should have been were plates of armor, looking down even more there were feathers closely intertwined amongst one another forming something that vaguely looked like a dress.
And it had only entered their realization now, as the sheer feeling of familiarity of their body made it feel like it had been a part of them the entire time, wings, 4 pairs of wings lay at their back, they could feel them, and with an experimental twitch, they moved at their command.
And that was not the only thing that had previously escaped their notice, it was the feeling of their body, if it weren't for the fact that they knew what a regular human body was shaped and felt like, they probably wouldn't have noticed it.
It didn't feel like it was a human body, that much would probably have been obvious earlier, but the realization only occurred at that moment, and that realization was the sheer oddness of their new body, feeling stranger than what their old body felt like, their head felt shaped like something else, like a teardrop? They wondered feeling their body, apart from the wings there were also what felt like… Fins? What were those? They could feel them at the back of their head? Neck? It was confusing trying to tell what exactly were those.
Then it hit them, there was a lake below, and with their perfect nightvision and the reflective surface of water, they could gaze upon theirself and see what they actually look like. They realized how stupid they were for not thinking about this sooner.
And so they looked down, the still lake giving them a mirror of what they looked like.
'Oh my God, I look-' They said, gazing upon their reflection, looking at it even more to confirm what they were seeing. 'So adorable! Look at those big floofy wings, the teardrop shaped head! Look at how adorable that thing is! Wait that's my reflection… uhh, I look so badass! Yeah! They tried to reassure themselves.
'Wait a minute that looks familiar.' They thought, placing a hand on their 'chin' and staring at their reflection even more. 'Hmm' They stared even more.
It was then that realization struck them, having seen their reflection elsewhere.
'Oh shit, am I a Dominion Authority?!'
And with that realization their calm mind practically imploded, and panic took hold.
'Oh shit, if I'm a Dominion authority, does this mean I'm in the new world? Oh fuck I won't stand a chance against Nazarick' They panic. Greatly. 'Ah fuck, maybe I'll just pledge allegiance to Ainz?'
and a voice spoke in holy tongue, as if masculine and feminine spoke at the same time, carrying with it a grave tone of authority. "wasniahc a htiw em kcuF"("Im so screwed")
AN: And that's done! I randomly came up with this idea when I visited a butterfly sanctuary for some reason. Also why they/them? Mostly because they're biologically genderless, and the fact that they're a fusion of Moi, and a Dominion authority, also the DxD part comes in after a few chapters.
