My Centurion Brother
Part 3
Disclaimer: I've been meaning to do this for awhile now and in an effort to get back in to the swing of things writing wise, I thought I'd start with this.
Summary: As a Volkoff location burns down around them, one individual's life literally hangs in the balance.
As one of the bases operated by Volkoff's organization burned around them, one man in particular could be seen hanging on to the ledge of a walkway in the upper areas of the base. Trying and failing to get his feet back on solid ground. This man is none other than CIA Agent Bryce Larkin and part of him wondered if Sarah, Casey, or Chuck were even aware of his predicament. But given the chaotic situation all around him, Bryce seriously doubted it but at least this was one more base of operations that Volkoff was no longer going to have so that was a win. I knew I should've brought another grapple hook.
Though whether or not it would've been much help in this situation, the man wasn't sure. "Well, looks like you're in a pickle." Remarked a voice amidst the blazing chaos.
Making the sweaty Agent look up in surprise. "Chuck! The Hell are you doin', man!? Get outta here!"
But Chuck said nothing as he stared down at him and if Bryce wasn't seeing things, there was a kind of dark intensity in the other man's eyes. Something that honestly unnerved the seasoned Agent if he was being honest with himself and it made him wonder if the brain washing his brother in all but blood had been put under was still affecting him in some way despite the fact it should be gone. "Chuck!" He called out as an explosion sounded off in the base.
Causing it to shake and for the walkway Bryce was dangling from to groan. Seconds later, Chuck shook his head and then reached down to grab his hands. "Let's go!"
Not needing to be told twice, Bryce got on to the walkway thanks to Chuck's help much to his immense relief. "I thought I was done for there, buddy, I owe you big time."
"We'll worry about that later, now let's get out of here."
"Don't have to tell me twice!"
And with that, the two hurriedly got the heck out of dodge and just in time as the base began to collapse. But it wouldn't be until sometime later when Bryce would think about what he saw where Chuck was concerned.
Author's Notes: Ooh, was Chuck going to let him fall? Who knows for certain!
