Chapter 28
It was the first and perhaps last rain of the summer. Many civilians were walking around with umbrellas or rushing home. Others were sitting safe in a warm quaint home. Through it all a single young man walked alone. No umbrella, no destination. He kept his head up and looked forward. If anyone stopped to look at him they would see that he had seen many things they could not even imagine. He was confused though. He had only a week to make some serious decisions. So far most of the choices he was thinking about choosing involved breaking promises and hurting others. Hurting her. He knew people healed he knew she would too. But he also knew how critical and serious it was to come this far with her. He stopped to sit on a bench. He did not look towards the sky as he thought. Too many people did that. It was a lost cause the sky held no answers. He couldn't sit for very long the pain was bugging him. He continued his slow stroll. He still had no idea where to go. Home was not something he was familiar with. In fact he had never called anything his home. He moved a wet strand of hair that landed in his eye. He did not pay attention as a car came racing towards him. He had decided to walk across a street with a green light. He stopped and stared at the vehicle as the tires screeched. He continued to stand there as the car slew to a stop an inch from hitting him. He turned away and continued his walk even as someone opened their window to scream at him. A young woman opened her window and screamed but since there was no damage and it was raining she decided not to exit the car. He knew something was wrong. Nothing should be getting to him like this. What if that car hadn't been able to stop? He hadn't been able to do one thing right or make one rational decision that worked out for the better. He scolded himself when he was alone. It didn't help it just reminded him of his failure and how everything was different. He should move on beyond that but his mistakes were going to affect him very soon. He looked up. He knew what it meant. He did it only to look at the sky. He guessed people enjoyed the scenery or the sense that it was natural. He blinked when he saw a bird flying through the rain. Lighting flashed almost directly above. He looked ahead and continued his walk. How long he would walk he did not know. He still had to pass his classes before he did anything else. He did not notice where he had gone. As he walked couples were cuddled everywhere. Walking under umbrellas, sitting on benches, in stores, under trees using whatever they could to keep dry but still hold each other. He would have laughed had he been a normal person. Walking to this place at this time was too ironic. He walked right through not making a sound. He saw many different things as he walked. He noticed how certain places had certain types of people in it. He thought about the people he knew. The way they were. He thought about how he was betrayed. That did not bother him. Betrayal wasn't new. The problem was he had been too trusting and said certain things. He put a lot of people in danger. He remembered doing that before. He thought about how he willingly left Kaname before. He did not want to, he hated it. He actually hated Mithril then. That was the only time he felt like that. He had never felt so bad since then. He would have let his friends die, and never returned to Tokyo. But she went after him. Just like she did in Florida days ago. She still survived even without him. Even though someone else saved her she pushed long and far enough to survive. He remembered returning to school. She had almost hit him again. Then she cried. Cried at him for what he did. She had said she'd never forgive him. She was scared when he left. She cried then pressed close against him. He did not realize what that meant at the time but it hurt him to see her like that. He felt good when she pressed against him. Like she really trusted him. He wondered now how she could have felt safe around him. Someone says they trust you then you run away from them the next day. He knew it was wrong he knew he didn't want to but he didn't stop it. He ended up realizing everything in the end because of her. Now he was going to hurt her again. He couldn't do that. Not again. He stopped when he saw something strange yet familiar. He turned to his left to see a mirror in the store window. He saw himself. The look in his eyes. He recognized it, and the feeling that came along with it. He stood there staring at his reflection for a long time. He played all his thoughts to himself again. He saw the reflection of someone behind him wearing a coat.
"What are you doing you moron?" A familiar voice called out to him. He turned around looking for her. He looked everywhere but saw no one not even the man in the coat. He turned back to the mirror. He jumped back when he saw Kaname was in the mirror. "Chi-Chidori what are you doing in there?"
"That's another count you called me Chidori again." Her face softened. "Listen do what you think is right but don't go about it in a stupid way."
"I am confused as to what is right currently. I have not been able to figure out the correct decision so far. Can you explain what I should do?"
"Hell no this is your problem! I'm just some figment of your imagination okay buddy. Jeez people are probably thinking you're crazy talking to yourself out here."
"But I am not talking to myself."
Kaname slapped her head. "Oh boy you are clueless."
"I do not understand."
"Listen just take what just happened everything you did and have a revelation." Kaname bounced her hands in front of her from left to right in a sequence fashion.
"I still do not understand."
"You're hopeless you know that. Bye bye." She waved as she disappeared. Sousuke slammed his hands against the glass.
"Wait Chidori how did you get in there what is going on explain it to me!" Sousuke looked to his side and saw the entrance. He ran in and grabbed the mirror.
"Excuse me sir you need to purchase that." Sousuke stared at the woman thinking a moment on what to do. He looked back at the mirror.
"You're irrational right now just buy it." Kaname was back in the mirror.
"Yes ma'am." Sousuke paid for the mirror. The mirror was 5 feet tall. The mirror also happened to be decorative. The woman offered to wrap it for him to protect it from the rain. He decided if he was going to use it later he would need it to work. He accepted the wrapping. He tucked it under his arm as he prepared to walk back to his apartment. He had walked 2 whole hours so the walk back would be just as long. He just needed to keep the mirror safe. Suddenly the woman approached him again.
"Excuse me you look like a nice young man. Normally we can mail order the item to the person for a fee but if you wish my husband can give you a ride to your home."
"I see. That would most likely be a more efficient way to get this to its destination. I accept. I will also pay for the services."
"Good she will be so happy to see her new mirror."
"Her?" He was confused.
"Why yes I'm sure you are buying this for a female yes."
"Negative this is for me. I wish to explore its possibilities."
"Oh so your that way. It's ok I don't judge."
"I do not understand."
"You're you know…gay."
"Negative."
"Oh its okay you don't need to hide it."
"But…" Before he could say any more a tall burly man came out form the back room.
"Hon could you load this into your truck and take it for him? He's going to pay extra he says."
"No problem." The man responded.
"Thank you." Sousuke thanked them and handed the man the mirror. He went out back to load the mirror while Sousuke paid the woman the extra fee.
"Come on kid." The man called from the back. After Sousuke put away his wallet he ran towards the back.

-Kaname's apartment-
"It feels good to relax." Kaname stretched on the couch. They hadn't yet watched the Stallone movie waiting for later in the night to watch it. The sun had only gotten ready to go down now. They watched TV, ate, played around, and even played some of Kaname's video-games. Kyouko couldn't beat her at street fighter or guilty gear so they settled on playing a new adventure game she had gotten. They had just beaten the first boss so they were taking a break now.
"Hey Kana-chan you want juice or soda?" Kyouko was in the kitchen getting refreshments.
"Juice, soda's no good now." Kyouko walked back in and handed her a juice box. Kaname switched to regular television while they rested. Kyouko plopped down next to her. "So Kana-chan how are you and Sousuke doing?"
Kaname swallowed down another drink and continued to watch the TV. She didn't say anything as Kyouko watched her. "Not good eh."
Kaname sighed. "Not as good as it seemed. He's a difficult boyfriend. I don't get him sometimes he's so sweet, and kind. Other times he turns cold and closes off. I think he regrets it sometimes. The look in his eyes when he's angry. He's been through a lot but he acts like he's alone. I know he's been through a lot but when he looks at me all kind and happy. And when…" Kaname stared of into space as she thought of the special moments she had shared with Sousuke recently. Their time together in Paris took front stage many times.
"Kana-chan?" Kaname snapped out of it.
"Yeah."
"He looks sad a lot, and alone like you said. Have you talked to him about it?"
"He keeps saying he'll tell me but things keep happening. He was betrayed recently and it really bothers him you know."
"Being betrayed by a friend can hurt a lot."
"That's not the only reason though, he's been acting strange since we got back."
"Well what are the others?"
"I'm not supposed to tell." Kaname drank some more juice. She believed she was acting pretty well and being very understanding considering the way Sousuke was acting recently. She sighed as she leaned back in the chair.
"I wonder where he is now." Kaname said taking another sip.
"He's probably home thinking what a bad boy he's been." Kyouko flipped the channel. Just because she was trying to make her friend feel better did not mean she had to watch something she didn't want to. Kaname thought about what Kyouko just said. The bad boy comment reminded her of her short conversation with Leonard. She had laughed at Sousuke then when Leonard called him a dog. She felt sick thinking how wrong that was. Her train of thought was interrupted when a knocking came to her door. She looked at the time. It was still the afternoon so it wasn't exactly unusual. It was raining though. She wondered who would come over here in the rain. Only one person came to mind. When she heard the knocking at the door she rose. She had completely forgotten to check her peephole before opening.
"Hello Kaname."
Kaname's mood dampened when she saw Leonard. "Hi Leonard. Can I help you with something?"
"Actually yes. May I come in first?"
Kaname sighed as she stepped aside to let the silver haired boy in. When he entered he placed his umbrella by the door. Kaname closed the door and followed him into her apartment. She growled when he did not remove his shoes.
"Oh yes Japanese customs. Forgive me." He walked back and removed his shoes. He had changed out of his school uniform and was wearing the more classy clothes he would usually wear. He removed his jacket and slung it over his arm as he walked in.
"Oh hi." Kyouko waved when she saw Leonard. "So you really are a friend of Kaname's."
"Hello. Kaname I did not expect you to have company. When you said I could come by later I thought it would be private."
Kaname walked in and past him. She headed straight for the kitchen. She was going to need more drinks. "He's not exactly my friend. I never told you to come over. I said we would talk later. In fact I said don't come today remember."
"It is later my dear." He disregarded the last part.
"DON'T SAY THAT!" Kaname called from the kitchen. Kyouko watched the young man wearily. Even she did not appreciate him speaking to her best friend in such a manner. Especially when she had Sousuke.
"How do you know Kaname?"
Leonard turned his smile to her. "We met a while ago. I helped her out when her precious watch dog would not. She would be dead if it wasn't for me."
Kyouko was shocked. She stood up and called towards the kitchen while walking in to speak to Kaname. "Is it true? Did he help you when Sousuke wouldn't? Did he save your life?" No one regarded the fact that she realized what he meant by watch-dog so quickly.
Kaname walked back out carrying a small cooler. "No he didn't in fact if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have almost died. Can we forget about that I don't want to remember it." She blamed the event on Leonard which it was his fault. Those horrible memories started running through her head. She shook it to try and remove them.
"As you wish." Leonard placed his jacket on the back of a table seat. He took a seat at the table. Kaname walked right past him. "We're going to be in the living room. Don't touch the fridge. If you need anything tell me. If you want to talk about whatever it is you wanted to talk about that will have to wait." Kaname placed the cooler on the floor between her and Kyouko. Leonard walked into the room. "Please it does not have to be completely private if we could at least step into another room." Kaname gave him a hard look. His smug expression did not falter. "Fine. Kyouko I'll be right back." Kaname was about to lead him to her room. The second she realized it she stopped. "On second thought Kyouko how about you head to my room and wait for me. I'll tell you when I'm done." Kyouko nodded before heading to the room. Leonard waited until he was sure she was in there before speaking.
"About earlier, I said I wished to apologize. I did but only verbally. I wish to apologize physically. The necklace was just a start. I have many things I would like to do with you to make it up to you." Kaname thought about Leonard's advances on her before. She also thought about when he was sincere. This was a fifty-fifty deal for her.
"No thanks. If I want anything I'll ask Sousuke." She saw his happy expression fade. He did not look sad he just did not look as well.
"I see. Well I still propose something. I would like to take you out to this nice restaurant. You could have anything you wanted. Just like before." Leonard smiled. Kaname caught his hint. She decided to throw it back in his face.
"If it is just like before then you'll most likely keep away from me what I want most. Sousuke is at least sincere when he says something."
"I doubt that. Either way there are things that mongrel cannot do. Can he support you? Give you wonderful things."
"Yes actually. Not that you'd know or need to know. He's not a mongrel. Listen if you're just going to bug me you should leave."
"I'm sorry I do not mean to be a bother. I just wish to make it up to you very seriously."
Kaname stood with her hands on her hips. "You can make it up to me by leaving me alone."
"Please. I still don't understand what you see in him. He is a murderer a monster. Even you agreed with me before. You agreed with me on many things. We were almost more then he came back." Leonard raised his hand to touch her cheek. Kaname pulled back.
"Yes he did. He spent months in pain coming to help me. Save me, bring me back to what you took me from. He helped me see things the right way while you convinced me to start believing your arrogant beliefs. Brain-washing me, and your sister."
"Were they really so wrong?"
"You've probably been pampered your whole life. Try going through what he did. Try going through hell and still end up as great as him. No matter what he's done or does he is the kind of person I can forgive."
Leonard stared at her. Her strength and anger evident from every pore on her body. He smiled.
"I will return. But I have one more question before I go." Leonard grabbed his jacket. He said nothing as he approached the door. "Well what is it you wanted to ask?"
Leonard walked out of her apartment before he turned to her. "Do you love him?"
Kaname froze. She said she loved him. She knew she loved him. But admitting it to someone else was strange. Her actual problem was the way he was acting recently. She could accept it though right? She looked and him deep and hard. "Yes." She felt a smile cross her lips when she said that.
His eyes widened. Kaname closed the door on him. She heard him curse on the other end. She felt a warm feeling go through her body. She knew no matter what he did she would love him. She walked back into her apartment and locked the door.
"Hey Kyouko let's watch another movie before we watch the new one. Let's get prepared." Kaname called out to her friend who ran out of the room. She looked excited.
"I heard the whole thing. I saw the pictures in your room as well." Kyouko was giddy as she stood in front of Kaname.
"Really." They both smiled. Kyouko jumped at Kaname they hugged and laughed and danced around. "I'm so happy for you Kana-chan!"
Kaname just continued her happy dance with Kyouko.
--
"Thank you sir." Sousuke stepped out of the vehicle and walked to the back to grab his mirror. "You sure you don't want help?" He asked as he sat in the driver's seat. Sousuke easily carried the large mirror. "Negative." Sousuke walked past the driver side window.
"Hey kid don't worry I'll explain it to my wife, and remember what I said."
Sousuke nodded before continuing towards his apartment. The man drove away.
Sousuke carried the wrapped item towards his apartment. He hoped the elevator was empty. It was. He stepped in and pushed the button for his floor. When he arrived he had already pulled out his key. He walked over to the door. He almost pulled out his gun when he heard motion inside but he remembered who was there. He put the key in and opened the door. He closed and locked it behind him as he carried the large object in. He hurriedly put it in his room.
"What's up buddy?" Kurz walked in drunk. Sousuke lowered his eyelids at his distraught friend. "You are drunk."
"Yeah so come one. Loosen up a bit." Kurz started humming as he exited the room. Sousuke set to placing the large object against his wall. He walked out before making use of it.
"Hi Sousuke." Tessa was seated on the couch watching television. Mao right beside her with a beer and cigarette. Sousuke turned when he felt a presence. Leonard was standing there giving him a cold look. Sousuke matched the look. Leonard was the first to look away. He walked and took a seat next to Tessa. Kurz walked into the room.
"Hey Melissa I know you said one of us is supposed to be sober, and I got drunk first to spite you but why don't we all get smashed and have a party?"
Mao stifled a laugh. "Get smashed jeez you really are drunk talking like that."
"Hey dat's no fair. My speech impede-thingy is because I'm drunk. Making fun of me for that is unfair. Too bad you can't get drunk so we can enter a wonderful wave of pleasure together." Kurz ducked just as a can flew towards him. Sousuke sighed before leaving the living room. He returned to his room and closed the door. He walked over to the mirror and uncovered it. He began examining the large object.
"I see no forms of technology on this. How did Chidori get in here? Did she teleport or is this really some kind of communication device. If so why would it be in a shop for such items?" Sousuke looked around the mirror some more. "Chidori are you there?" He tapped the glass.
"What are you crazy?" Sousuke quickly moved so he could look in the mirror. No Kaname.
"Sousuke behind you." He quickly turned to see Melissa in the doorway. She walked over to the large object.
"This is nice. Did you buy it? Looks kind of girly to be for you. Are you giving it to someone or did you feel you needed to get in touch with your feminine side."
"Actually. I saw Chidori in here earlier. I am wondering how to activate it."
Melissa looked at him her mouth hung open .Suddenly she dropped on to the bed holding her stomach while laughing.
"This is…this is too rich! Hahaha! I can't believe it." Sousuke sat there as Melissa laughed. He watched her as she rolled around gasping for air.
"I do not understand."
"Sousuke you know what a mirror is right?"
"Affirmative. However this particular mirror…"
"You were upset earlier right. Well when you saw her did she appear and disappear and stuff."
Sousuke thought about it. "Yes, how did you know?"
"I'm sorry pal but you were hallucinating."
"Why would I do such a thing? I was not under the influence of any drugs nor was I in a poor physical condition that would cause such things. My mind…"
"Exactly. It was all up here. Something's bugging you buddy." Mao tapped her head before taking another drink of her beer. She frowned when she found it empty. She just realized while laughing she had spilled it on her shirt and his bed.
"I see your point. I have been thinking lately."
"Right so you do your thing and I'll see you later. I gotta go kick Kurz ass."
He heard her walk away. He noticed he was dripping onto the floor.
"What'd I doooo? Hey sis you're all wet already." Sousuke could hear Kurz slurred voice. He heard something about condoms and pleasure but in truth was not really interested.
"Okay I will take his advice." Sousuke wrapped up the mirror then headed for the door. Everyone seemed distracted as he walked out. Tessa was on the phone Leonard was flipping through channels and Melissa was using Kurz as a recliner.
He prepared himself for another wet walk across the street.
Kaname and Kyouko had just started the movie when another knock came at her door.
"Not again…" She paused the movie as she stomped over to her door. Once again she forgot to look through her peephole before opening it. "What the hell do you want?"
"Have I come at a bad time?" Kaname realized what she had just done and regretted it. The irony of what happened did not escape her either.
"No Sousuke I just thought you were someone else."
"I see. You should be more careful. The peephole was added so that others can see who has come to the door rather then trusting voices or having to open the door to identify the person."
"I got it Sousuke. So what did you come by for? Did you miss me?" Kaname's voice was seductive at the end. She leaned forward making her school blouse which was more open then usual reveal her cleavage. Sousuke turned red then looked away. When Kaname noticed this she moved closer. She leaned up against him and raised one leg and wrapped it around him.
"What's the matter you did miss me right?" She kissed his lips briefly. She watched the expression on his face with delight.
"Uh."
She stepped away and smiled at him. "So what do you need?"
"Umm…"
"Sousuke."
Sousuke cleared his head. "I actually came here to give this to you as a gift."
"Oh." Kaname looked at the peculiar shaped wrapping.
"That's kind of big what is it?"
"It is a…"
"Wait don't ruin the surprise. Just come in." Kaname stepped aside to let him in. She closed the door behind him. Sousuke greeted Kyouko as he walked straight to Kaname's room. Kaname walked into the living room. The girls stared at each other before a smile spread across their faces and they both rushed to the room.
They watched as Sousuke set the object in the corner. The drape was positioned so it could easily be pulled off. He turned to the girls. "Would you like the honor?"
Kaname slowly walked over to the covered object.
Kyouko ran to the living room. "Wait let me get my camera!" She was back in an instant. She held it at the ready as Kaname removed the sheet. After one flash both girls gasped as they saw the item. The mirror was large beautiful. At the top were angelic designs. In the middle were just designs leading to dolphin designs at the bottom. The textures of blue and white and other colors were beautiful. She looked up and down and around the beautiful item in front of her. Sousuke watched her as she looked at it and examined herself in the mirror. She turned and smiled at him. He felt warm inside seeing her smile at him like that. Once again they had forgotten Kyouko was there as she walked up to him. She pulled him into a passionate kiss which he responded to quickly. Kaname could feel herself getting wet. It was strange though. It was cold and on her chest. She hesitated before breaking their kiss. She stepped back. Sousuke was soaked. He dripped on her carpet and soaked her shirt. Instead of getting angry she smiled.
"You can be sweet on your own. Thank you it's beautiful."
"It's not a pro…"
Before he could finish her lips were on his again. He wrapped his arms around her waist. Kaname's hands snaked around his neck pulling him in for a deeper kiss opening her mouth to deepen it. This continued for several moments before they heard giggling and remembered they were not alone. Damn. They turned to face a blushing Kyouko. They turned even redder.
"Should I go?" Kyouko smiled at them. In truth she couldn't have hoped for a better outcome. "No it is my fault. I should go I need to dry off anyway."
"Yeah you do you dripped all over the floor…and me."
Sousuke turned to examine the damage. She just had to be wearing a white shirt. He blushed then immediately turned around. "I should definitely be going."
"Ok Kana-chan I'll take him to the door you should change."
"No I'll get it." Kyouko stood aside as Kaname pushed Sousuke towards the exit. She stopped when he was just outside her door. She stepped out with him and closed the door. He smiled before pulling her into another kiss. Kaname felt the cold air against her skin. Her cool damp shirt pressing against her skin did not help. She broke the kiss. Sousuke trailed down to her neck with kisses. She regretfully pulled his head away.
"Ok mister someone needs to calm down."
"Forgive me. I just feel better about some things now that I thought about them."
"Don't worry that's okay." She leaned closer to him to whisper in his ear.
"Come back later. It is the weekend. You do need to study anyway. Plus I'm sure your place is crowded." She kissed his earlobe before backing away.
"I- I will do that."
Kaname smiled and opened her door. She turned before she finished entering. She ran back into his arms. He did nothing but hold her close. She pressed her head against his chest.
"Do you regret being my boyfriend Sousuke? Getting into a relationship with me at all?"
Sousuke rubbed his hand on her back. He kissed the top of her head.
"Truthfully Kaname. I do regret certain things but they have nothing to do with you. They have to do with my mistakes and the consequences you may have to face because of this. I do not regret our relationship. I regret what I have done and may do."
"I love you Sousuke."
"I love you too Kaname."
He grabbed her chin and lifted her to face him. He kissed her again. This time different.
There was no lust in this kiss it was soft. It was a kiss filled with emotion. One that made sure she knew the truth. After a moment he broke the kiss. He caressed her cheek before kissing her forehead and turning to walk away.
Kaname smiled. "Don't forget."
"Not a problem." Sousuke did not turn around as he answered.
Kaname felt wonderful as she went back into her apartment.
He looked out at the rain. It may just rain another day. After all it was not such a bad thing.
He used the stairs instead of the elevator to get down. His face was blank of emotion as usual but that was not the truth. He felt good, right for now. He walked out into the pouring rain. Feeling every drop that made contact with him. He felt everything slowdown as he walked. He felt his hair stand-up. He did not stop walking. Luckily because of how heavily it was pouring there were no pedestrians and very few cars. Sousuke did not bother looking around at first. He walked east as if nothing was wrong. He looked around as if he was worried about an enemy. That way he would think he still hadn't noticed him. He walked towards the building he felt his watcher was at. Sousuke casually entered the building. It was another apartment complex. A lot of those were in this neighborhood so it was not strange. He walked up the stairs. He drew his gun when he reached the door to the roof. He silently opened the door and stepped out. Once again the rain came pounding down upon him. He saw exactly what he expected to see. The man in the trench coat turned around. He wore sun-glasses but Sousuke recognized him very well. He pointed his gun at the man and fired without hesitation. The man's coat blocked it. Sousuke felt a cold feeling when the bullet was blocked. Leonard had a similar designed item.
"What are you here for?"
"To hunt you. No one gets away with what you did and gets off Scot-free."
"I still have reasons to kill you as well."
"Yes but I'm hired. Anyway can you defeat me? If I recall I put a bullet in you before when you tried to avenge the pretty-red haired girl. You may have won that tournament but when you came after me you failed. I don't know why so many people fear you. You have become a legend though you know. For what you did."
"I'm not interested, in fact being known in any way is a problem."
"Then why do you stay here?"
Sousuke grinned. His eyes could not be seen behind his hair. He fired two more shots. The man stood there as they crashed into the coat. When it retracted he had a knife to his neck. "I see. So you show no remorse for what you did." The man jumped back just as Sousuke's blade moved to pierce his throat. He ran to the side and jumped off the building. Sousuke ran after him. He just barely lunged backwards to dodge a bullet that would have pierced his skull bottom up.
He ran back to look for the man but he was gone. He put his gun away. He looked back up as the rain continued to soak him.
"Why…can't I have any breaks?" Sousuke walked and sat on the edge of the building his legs hanging off. He looked down at the few running pedestrians, and driving cars. He pulled a small device out of his pocket. At the speed the dot was moving the man have to have gotten in a car. At least he would know where he was. It was a fair deal. He lifted himself up.
No time to mope. If I can do that I have better things I can do. Sousuke was going to walk back into the building but he had already dripped in there before. He walked over to where he saw the fire escape. It looked sturdy enough. He leapt to it. After brief creaking it stabilized. Sousuke climbed down the various ladders. He sighed when he reached the floor a bunch of teenagers on bicycles were picking on another young man.
For a country of peace there are a lot of fights. And once again I cannot rest. Sousuke walked up to them. They stopped when they saw him.
"Don't try to be a hero unless you want your ass kicked too." One of the teens walked up to Sousuke carrying a knife. "First give us what you have on you and you can go."
Sousuke grinned again. Being entertained by this was wrong but some people were just so stupid. "Negative."
"Well punk then I'll take it from you." The teen lunged at Sousuke. Sousuke easily grabbed his arm then broke it in a simple swift attack. The young man was on the floor writhing in pain. More of them pulled out their knives.
"This is not a neighborhood for gangsters and hoodlums. You should go while you can."
They ignored his comment and all rushed at him. Sousuke noticed the bike sitting against the wall. Before they could reach him he grabbed the bicycle and swung it at them easily disarming the first one's to come. He span and smashed the rear tire into another one's face leaving tire tracks. "Peace is the best answer but if you wish to fight…" He let the rest sit in the air. The boys hesitated before coming at him again.
He caught one of their knives in a pedal and removed it from them. He swung the bike over causing the other pedal to smash into his face. When another boy came from his side he twisted the handle bar so that it caught in the charging guy's mouth. The teens stood confused for a moment before Sousuke slammed him against the wall with his foot. The next one coming was bigger then some of the other's. He caught the bike when Sousuke tried to hit him with it. He did not expect Sousuke to break of the pedal slamming it into his face. He threw the pedal at another rising foe after. He continued to carry the bike. Another one who tried to punch had him arm stuck between spokes on the back tire he actually had the force to punch off. Unfortunately for him the rear of the bike slammed into his face also causing the back tire to come off. Sousuke saw more getting up so he threw the bike at the wall. The effect was perfect as the front tire hit first the rest of the bike bounced off and smashed one of the young men with the seat in the face. He caught the bike and slammed the tire into another one's face causing it to come off as well. He swung the bike around causing the chain to fly off into another's face. Only three enemies remained. They had courage to continue fighting but were stupid to think they could defeat him. They all came at the same time. Sousuke spun the bike and hit one in the face with the seat, he heard a strange noise. He slammed the side into another, another noise. The last enemy was the largest of the group. He slammed the bike against him as he rushed. The bike and enemy both flew in opposite directions. The saved man stared at the young man who stood in the rain with nothing but a bicycle handle bar in his hand. Sousuke tossed the handle bars behind him. "Are you okay?" Sousuke walked over to the young man.
"Yeah I'm okay just a few scratches." The young man rubbed off his arms. Sousuke felt a strange feeling when he got a good look at the young man. He recognized him.
"Fuwa."
He turned to look at the young man who saved him. "Why yes, do I know you?"
Sousuke turned away. Today is very awkward.
"You do not know me but may I ask your reason for being here?"
"Since you helped me sure. I have a friend who disappeared months ago after that big arm-slave fight. I heard she was back so I wanted to see her. I care about her very much."
Sousuke was ready to reach for his gun and shoot something. Everything was getting too weird.
"I see. Would you like me to take you to her? I normally would not but I have previous information on you so it is alright."
"Yes thank you." Fuwa had an umbrella he was slightly wet from when the group of men attacked him but he was definitely much more dry then the young man in front of him. Sousuke sighed as he led the man back to her apartment. He still had not dried off or anything. He led the man to the elevator. "So how do you know Kaname?" Fuwa asked Sousuke as they entered. Sousuke shifted uncomfortably. "I was supposed to protect her once."
"Oh really that sounds strange. What did you protect her from?"
"It is not your concern."
"Ok sorry." The rest of the way was silent. They stepped out when they reached her floor. It was quick to get to her door. He knocked on the door. He heard grumbling as she approached. "Remember to check your peephole." He reminded her through the door.
She pulled the door open quickly. "I know smart-ass." Kaname turned red when she realized someone was with him. She turned to see it was Fuwa.
"Hi Kaname."
"Fuwa what are you doing here?"
"You went missing months ago so when I heard you were back I wanted to come check on you. I got lost and then some guys jumped me. This guy here beat the snot out of them using a bicycle."
Kaname stared at the ex-sergeant who was officially starting to look worse for wear.
"Sousuke did you even make it home." Kaname walked up and caressed his cheek as she examined him.
"I am having trouble merely crossing a street. Many distractions have come up."
"Oh well let's all go inside. You should take a warm shower before you get sick."
"But…"
"No buts mister!"
"Yes ma'am." Sousuke saluted before walking military fashion into her home. She smiled at Fuwa. "Come on inside."
He nodded before following her in.
"So what's up?" Kaname asked as she closed the door behind him. He walked in carefully remembering to remove his shoes.
"Nothing really the exams went well and I got into Tokyo U if I want. How are you?"
"Heaven and hell."
"Really what happened? It seems you know that guy very well. He said he used to protect you."
"That military maniac still does. He's cool though." She led him to the living room. "You remember Kyouko don't you?"
"Yes hello. I saw you on the train with Kaname before."
"You got it. Good to see you." Kyouko rose to shake his hand. Kaname walked to her bedroom. Sousuke was collecting some of his clothes left there.
"They seem friendly."
"He's her boyfriend." Kyouko told him as she took another drink.
"Really." Fuwa smiled. Truth was he still had feelings for Kaname but he had another girl he cared for very much. He wanted to check on Kaname though even if it was unfair to his current girlfriend.
"Jeez don't toss your clothes on the floor their soaked." Kaname could be heard shouting at Sousuke.
"Forgive me I will take care of it."
"Don't put them back on sheesh. Come on." Fuwa watched as Sousuke was pushed into the bathroom.
"Now shower dry up and put your clothes in that bag." Kaname slammed the door behind him. Kaname turned to her guest.
"Is he the one from before the one you said was immature and crazy?"
"Yeah. He's sweet though and as you saw can take care of himself."
"He didn't seem immature."
"He's not. I said those things along time ago."
"Well he seems like a nice guy."
"He is."
"Why don't we catch up on old times and you can get to know Kyouko while you're here.
"Actually I don't have much time I just wanted to check if you were really back."
"Yep I'm right here. Believe it or not thanks to that guy in there." Just as she said that the water turned on. "Chidori I will need an umbrella for when I go back." Sousuke called from the bathroom.
"You're not leaving this apartment any more mister. Who knows what kind of trouble you'll get into next time you step out."
Fuwa leaned towards Kyouko. "Got him on a leash?"
"Not really. He can take care of many things just Kaname's a bit different. He is only agreeing because he knows it's the better choice. He'd argue and do what he thought was better if it really mattered."
"I see. I'd love to stay longer but after what happened and finding this place I lost a lot of time. I'll see you guys another time perhaps."
"OK bye." Kyouko waved as he left. Kaname walked him to the door.
"Be careful on your way back. Take a taxi or something."
"Ok thanks. Bye now."
"See ya." Kaname closed the door as he walked away.
"Jeez today's crazy."
"Yeah but isn't it fun Kana-chan. You and Sousuke made out- I mean made up and everything."
"Just click play on the movie. Let's finish this one since Sousuke is going to be joining us for the new one."
"Sure you don't want me to go?" Kyouko asked as she made herself comfortable.
"No you're my best friend. Besides it's not like it's a romance or anything not that Sousuke would know what that is. The only thing that puts him in the mood is the sound of explosions and guns."
Kyouko giggled at the thought. Kaname pressed play on the remote. Suddenly Kyouko's phone rang. She pulled it out.
"Hello."
Kaname sat and watched her as she spoke on phone. She watched as the expressions of her face shifted. She grew worried when Kyouko gasped. Kyouko nodded and mm-hmmd multiple times. Kaname stared at her with a face asking for answers when she hung up.
"Bad news…" Kyouko looked down a tear leaking from her eye. Kaname couldn't stand the suspense as she sat waiting for the answer.
"What is it?" She gripped the juice box in her hand tighter. Causing juice to spill on her.
"Well my parents are outside in the car. My grandpa is…"
"Your grandpa is what…?"
"My grandpa is taking me to go camera hunting. He wants to do it now." She smiled at Kaname.
"Eh?" Kaname's was dazed. The shock she just had was cut off. "That wasn't funny I thought something bad happened."
"No it's okay. The look on your face was priceless though."
"Hmmphf. Well why so late in the day?"
"I don't know but it is convenient. Now you can be alone with Sousuke. I'll see you later Kana-chan. Be good." Kyouko rose to gather her things.
"You're a little too in to this. See you later. " Kaname said goodbye one more time before closing the door on her departing friend. She turned back to look at her apartment from the door. Just as she did a half naked Sousuke walked out of the bathroom.
"Chidori you never let me locate a fresh set of clothing."
Kaname slowly walked up her hands behind her back as she did. She gave Sousuke a peculiar look. He blushed under that watchful eye.
"Umm…Chidori wh-what are you doing?"
"Just enjoying the view honey." Kaname had Leonard call her many things so she decided she should try it with Sousuke.
"…" Sousuke looked down. He wore a shamed, hurt expression.
"What's the matter Sousuke. You're not going to say something about your scars are you?" Kaname walked up to him. She bent down to look at him. His face was cold, hard. She could see a darkness laying upon it.
"Sousuke what's wrong?"
"Please do not call me that."
"Why?"
"He called me that."
"Huh?" Suddenly Kaname realized who he must have been talking about. That wicked smiled polluted her mind. She had forgotten about his sick obsession with Sousuke.
"Oh. I'm sorry." I knew it was a mistake but I tried anyway I'm so stupid.
As if he read her mind Sousuke wrapped his arms around her. She looked up at him. His expression was calm nothing more.
"Forgive me. I should not let that bother me. I need to learn to overcome such things." He pressed his lips against her forehead. Kaname wrapped her arms around him. She gasped when Sousuke lifted her into his arms. "You can help me if you wish…dear." Kaname smiled it was certainly different. She realized even if he didn't tell her detail by detail she was learning about him. "I think I will need more time before I get used to this." Sousuke removed a strand of hair from her face.
"Oh of course." She moved hair out of his eyes as well. "Someone is going to need a haircut soon."
"I still like my ears Kaname." He remembered her name as well as tossing it in with sarcasm.
"I like them too." Kaname pulled up and started nibbling on his ears. "You should know better." She whispered into his ear then she continued. Sousuke felt a newly almost familiar feeling.
"Kaname please now is not the time I am not properly dressed."
"You're not supposed to be dressed for that." She kissed his ear. He was finding it hard to stand there with her in his arms. He was unconsciously starting to lift his towel off with out his arms.
"Please Kaname this is very difficult."
"Then do what you want."
Sousuke jumped a moment. His mind said no but his body was pushing to accept the invitation. He didn't notice as Kaname jumped out of his arms.
"Wow someone's giddy." Sousuke looked around. He looked at Kaname's red face and followed her finger.
When he looked down he turned red from head to toe. "Uh."
It was embarrassing but Kaname enjoyed Sousuke's reactions. She still had old insecurities about herself sitting in her soul.
"I got it!"
"What?"
"Your punishment for using my surname so many times. You have to walk around like that for the rest of the day."
"But Kaname I'm not sure I can go around at…attention for such an extended period of time by myself." He did not pay attention to his choice of wording.
"Don't worry you won't have to." Kaname was having fun but being a bit too bold for comfort.
"I'll go start the movie. You should get at ease soldier."
"Yes ma'am!" This time he stood at attention. He had no idea how he was going to handle the situation. He decided to go into Kaname's room until he calmed down.
He closed the door behind him. He looked at the mirror that now stood in her corner. The joy on her face when she saw I told him he was successful. He looked around the room. Everything seemed the same. He noticed new pictures on the dresser. He walked over to examine them. He blinked when he realized what they were. He traced a finger along the pictures taken at the park in France. The expression on his face in the second picture surprised him. He almost did not recognize himself seeing that. This picture was proof that what he thought was once impossible had happened. He sat on the bed as he examined all the pictures. He started drifting as her scent filled his nose. The room was not helping but getting his mind elsewhere would.
He had no idea how long he sat there. He drifted out of consciousness. He was awake but he was unaware of his surroundings. He lost himself to in his memories. He remembered the words told to him recently. The first time you realized you had a source of happiness.
Sousuke slowly opened his eyes when he felt warm moist hands wrap around him. She pressed her head against his bare back. Her hair was moist as well as the rest of her. He turned his head back to look at her. She wore only a towel as she leaned on him. She must have taken a shower. His iris shrunk when he realized what was happening.
"Kaname."
"Sousuke." She rose from the bed and replaced the pictures on the dressed. She approached Sousuke again. She sat next to him and looked into his face. Her eyes were soft, longing.
"Kaname I…" He lost his voice. He was losing himself in her eyes. They were not the only thing that occupied his eyes. She knew it.
"Are you sure?" His features softened.
"Yes." No hesitation. Sousuke kissed her softly. Every fiber of his being was screaming at him but he knew he had to be careful gentle. She wrapped her arms around his neck as they lowered onto the bed. Sousuke ran his hand along he body. He hesitate when he reached the tuck that held her towel on. She pulled back and looked into his eyes.
"It's okay." He nodded before pulling the towel aside. The sight was even more exciting then last time. She covered her breast and squeezed her legs together. Her smell entered his nose. Her body intoxicated him.
"You're absolutely…beautiful. Perfect."
Sousuke could see her turn red as he said the words. Sousuke moved forward and kissed her again. He reached down and slowly removed her arms. She moaned when his hand began to massage her breast. His thumb twirled around her nipple the cold air helping to excite it. His other hand held her. When he was done his other hand continued the actions on her other one. Her moaning become louder her breath ragged. Sousuke kissed nibbled and licked a bed across her as he made his way down. Kaname held his hair as he twirled his tongue around her left nipple. He licked it before taking it into his mouth his other hand still playing with her other breast.
"Oh Sousuke that feels amazing." He switched over to the other one making sure not to neglect it. Kaname continued to moan as he did this. His other hand slid down to her most sacred of places. He lightly pressed and teased her there.
"Ahh… oh" Sousuke continued his ministrations. He made his way down her belly taking in her taste as he slowly descended. He tickled her naval for about five seconds before continuing down.
He stopped and stared at her before doing anything more. The view was amazing. Her blue hair cascaded the bed under hair. The rise and fall of her breasts as she breathed.
"Sousuke." She pleaded. Sousuke gazed once more before running his tongue along her folds once. She moaned and grabbed the sheets. He used one hand to pinch and prod her as he used his tongue. He enjoyed her sweet scent and taste. He waited until she was wet enough before sliding one finger inside. He rose back to her breast as he carefully thrust his finger in and out for her.
"Oh god Sousuke…." She moved against his fingers creating a motion as she raised her hips. Sousuke suckled on her breasts and nipple as his hand continued its work. His other hand started making its way around her body pressing pleasure points. He knew that did not compare to what he was doing but it helped.
He found it hard to resist seeing Kaname move, and buck under him, her body clear for only him to see. The noises she made pushed him further. Control.
He moved to pull her into a kiss. He pressed his tongue instantly gaining entrance. She found it hard to concentrate a euphoric feeling spreading throughout her body.
"Sousuke I oh love ahh you." She opened her eyes to look at him. He smiled at her.
He could feel her inner muscles tighten around his fingers. He placed two fingers behind her neck.
"I can't…Sousuke!" She moaned as she climaxed all over his hand. He removed his finger and brought them to his lips. Her honey tasted sweet to him. He watched her as her breathing controlled itself. He slowly removed his fingers from her neck. She had a smile on her face as she held onto him. He fought hard to control himself. He put her to sleep by using a point on her neck along with the exhaustion of her orgasm. He lied next to her then pulled the cover over them both.
He honestly regretted his decision. A smile crossed her lips as she snuggled to him. She was at least satisfied for now he hoped. He wanted to shoot himself.
"I love you Sousuke." She whispered even in her sleep. He smiled as he pulled her sleeping form closer. He did not notice her open her eyes.
"Sousuke don't you…" His pressure point may not have kept her asleep but she was certainly tired.
"I love you Kaname." He pulled her head onto his shoulder. He closed his eyes welcoming the sleep he had missed. She giggled as she snuggled closer. He kissed her forehead again. She raised her head to kiss his lips before finally resting on his shoulder for the last time. A beautiful emotion filled the room as they drifted to sleep.
