Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there lived a peasant and his wife. Not too long after they were married, they were to have a child, a beautiful baby girl. The wife during pregnancy craved the legendary Ino spice, which could only be found in the evil witch Anko's garden. Unfortunately, Anko didn't share her things, especially her spices, and extremely high walls surrounded her garden! Without the spice, the peasant's wife would get ill, and he feared they might lose the baby. He decided he would face the consequences and climb the wall to get the spice. He quickly scurried up the wall with the help of a grappling hook, and gathered up the spice. The witch was just coming back from her daily 'rounds' whatever they might be, and saw him. She swooped down and caught the peasant by surprise. The peasant quickly pleaded to the witch, and told her his story. The witch, being in a good mood, decided to let him have the spice, on one condition….
"Your first child shall be mine
Locked in a tower that no one shall find
She will be put under a spell
Which is impossible to break as well
The only way to break it you see
Is a true love's kiss
Whoever that may be"
The peasant, now desperate, reluctantly agreed to the witch's horrible condition, for fear he would lose his own life if he didn't. A few months later the child was born. They named her Ino after the spice the wife craved so much. All of the sudden, the witch came swooping in the door and snatched the baby in her arms. She quickly flew off to a high tower in the deep heart of the woods, where nobody would find her. This tower was 20 stories high, and had no stairs, and only 1 window. For 16 years, the witch looked after the child. Ino was vain, and never cut her hair, so it was extremely long. She often spent her days gazing out the window waiting for someone to come along.
