Chapter 29

6 days left. Six that's all the time he had to make a decision. After last night his decision was clear or at least he hoped. Six days is a lot of time for things to change. Oh well it was time to enjoy what he could. In this case six days was not a lot of time for him. His enemies may think he is dead but he knows their alive. He also knew he couldn't let them finish what they were intending to do. Plus he had a damn hunter on him. The hunter was the least of his problems but if he said some things Sousuke did not want anyone to hear about he would have a problem. He was starting to learn what it was to have everything come crashing down on him at once. He had been taking a lot more breaks and doing a lot of things that had nothing to do with his mission. Oh well he enjoyed them. He had been hating and scolding himself for awhile. He needed to learn to forgive himself. Such an attitude was not proper for a specialist. He wanted to get up but he dare not move too much for fear of waking up the angel on top of him. Her blue hair lay across her back and upon the bed. He maintained control even as her bare breasts lay pressed against his bare chest. He had spent 5 minutes last night fighting himself mentally. He kept one arm wrapped around her the other held her hand. The quilt covered up to her lower back and down.

He had woken up later then usual. The sun was already coming up. It was early night or late afternoon when they had been intimate to a point at least, so he should have been up much earlier. He did not mind though he truly did not wish to move at that moment. His six days were supposed to be the time he rested but he had to get better. He could not defeat his opponents at this rate. He let those thoughts fall away as his mind drifted elsewhere. He still had to pass this year. He remembered a time when he had been fighting in a car and she called him. He admitted it to be a problem then. He did not catch her words then but thought it might have been something along the same lines. He took a deep breath sighing as he released it. He froze when the sleeping form atop him moved slightly. She wiggled around a bit still unconscious to the world. Sousuke struggled to keep from waking her and keeping himself from going into attention again. All that really separated them was the towel he had kept between them. She did not object or say anything about it. Perhaps it was better a barrier to keep anything from progressing. Kaname rolled over. Sousuke lifted to try and stop her stupidly releasing his grip on her, ended up accelerating the process.

"Kaname!" He reached out to catch her but failed. She screamed as she plummeted off the bed pulling the cover down with her. Sousuke jumped off the bed to check on her forsaking the towel that had been loosened. He crouched next to her quilt entangled form as she grunted and shoved the quilt around her trying to remove it.

"Kaname are you okay?" He helped her as she fought with it. "Damn it, get this off."

He pulled the remainder of the quilt away. Kaname lay naked on the floor in front of him. His neck snapped as it turned a full 180 degrees. It snapped again as his body followed.

"Jeez what's your problem?" Kaname looked down at herself and realized what happened. Her memories of last night came back to her. Her whole body flushed.

"Uh." She used Sousuke's famous phrase unable to think of anything else to say. She was too dumb-founded to be angry either lucky for him.

"Kaname we should get dressed." Sousuke walked over to retrieve the clothes he had been denied last night.

"Yeah maybe we should." Kaname said nothing else as she went to retrieve her own clothing. Sousuke put on his boxers, a blood colored t-shirt, a pair of green military pants and a pair of white socks as well as his watch. He headed to the bathroom to brush his teeth. He turned when Kaname entered in nothing but a towel. "Hn?" he raised an eyebrow.

"I need to shower first. It's your fault you know." She glared at him as he stood with the brush still cased in his mouth. He nodded before turning to spit and finish up.

Sousuke said nothing as he walked by her. "Sousuke." He froze in the doorway.

"Is it okay that you know… I did nothing last night… that you…umm you get it."

Sousuke's turned to her his face still serious. Her back was facing him however her head lowered awaiting his answer. "It's not a problem, it was my pleasure." Kaname raised her head and turned to face him. She frowned when she saw he had already exited the bathroom. Not too long after the shower was running.

Sousuke sighed as he pulled out a few pans. Eggs, bacon, toast, and pancakes sounded like a good breakfast. He washed his hands before beginning. He thought back to how he would have made such things back then. Fire and smoke, Kaname would have killed him. He had picked up a lot of things on his journey.

He looked at his watch. It was indeed very early but Kaname was up. They would have to study later. They had decided to invite their friends for a large study session because it had been a while since they all actually spent time together at the same time. He silently worked in the kitchen for ten minutes before Kaname approached.

"That smells good."

-

Sousuke sighed as he walked down the sidewalk. In the middle of breakfast Hayashimizu had called to speak to him privately. Unfortunately for Sousuke that meant he had to walk until he came across a taxi and right now his luck was not looking up. He could easily make the walk that was not a problem but he had to be back on time to study plus Kaname was disappointed with him leaving at all. He kept his phone on in case she needed to call but she hadn't so everything seemed okay. What really bothered him was why Hayashimizu would call him so early to speak privately. Luckily it was cool out and dawn was still only halfway going so it was not so bad. He had taken a quick shower at his own apartment before leaving he did not bother to change clothes though. As he walked he kept a look out for any people specifically any one suspicious. Just because he had a device to track him did not mean he was completely safe. Things can be discovered after all. He knew he was close when he entered a neighborhood that looked more elegant, decorated with houses. He'd been here once before when Hayashimizu missed school once. He needed to be checked on. It was long but he located the house back then. Kaname was in awe when they arrived. She expected a humongous house but Hayashimizu lived in one that suited his family but still had plenty of space and was considerably large compared to what she or most of the students lived in. He had learned Hayashimizu's secret and why he went to Jindai high. It concerned a girl he once tutored. She was hit by a car while she was leaving his house one night after a long study session. The girl's friend blamed him for the murder, and Hayashimizu went to the school because it was the girl's dream to get into Jindai. Sousuke looked around as he approached the house. He saw the white Scottish dog run up to him as he approached. The dog had a problem with Kaname before which caused problems for him but she apologized later that day so it was okay. He lifted the small animal as he approached the door. It was opened before he could knock.

"Greetings Sagara."

The dog yelped as Sousuke dropped him suddenly and shifted to attention.

"Greetings your Excellency." The dog started to gnaw at his boots displeased with suddenly being dropped.

"I see you are in much better condition than you were in our last encounter."

"Yes sir. I was thinking too much then. I have taken a different view on things now. Everything should be all right."

"That's good. Please come in." Sousuke removed his boots and stepped inside. The dog had since them calmed down. "I see Tama remembers you."

Sousuke nodded as he walked by Hayashimizu closing the door behind him as he entered.

"May I offer you something a drink perhaps?" Hayashimizu raised his hand towards the kitchen.

"Negative. I would like to know why you called me here." Sousuke's expression remained in the usual emotionless state. Hayashimizu smiled as he continued towards the living room. Sousuke silently followed him towards the living room. Hayashimizu sat in a chair on one end of a low glass table. Sousuke stood across from him.

"I assume you will not sit down."

"It's not a problem."

Hayashimizu chuckled lightly. He opened his fan and looked at Sousuke.

"I need a favor. It is for the school. You need to retrieve some information, deliver information, and end a certain contract we have."

Sousuke raised one eyebrow. "Sir?"

"As you know rumors of actions I have taken for the school as well as other things have spread. These rumors are not completely false but I have run into a problem. A rival of mine has broken some rules. He wishes to commit a crime against our school using similar means. I have tried many ways to console this problem but cannot. I wish to acquire your services. I will gladly pay a fee."

Hayashimizu did not break his gaze as Sousuke watched him suspiciously.

"I see, but I am not a hitman I am a mercenary."

"I know but the job will not require murder. I simply need you to acquire the information destroy any extra information and deliver other files. Once that is complete you will need to end his operation. If he completes his goal Jindai will be slandered, or worse. If you accept I have the information in this folder. No one can know about this."

"But Chidori…I promised her I'd be back to study."

"If you complete the mission and everything goes accordingly you should be back in time. I can give you the location and any necessary information to hasten the process."

Sousuke walked over. "Kaname will scold me for this later. Such a problem seems insignificant but it is necessary."

"As you know the school year is about to end and this may also affect the amount of students entering this school."

"I see. I will take care of it."

Sousuke said nothing more as he walked out towards the front door. He turned in the doorway when Hayashimizu called him. "Remember this is a secret. We do not need to be worrying anybody, but your opponent like me is very skilled."

"I'm sure you could have taken care of this why use such extreme measures."

"We have a traitor in our school. That is the problem."

"I see. You do not need to worry Mr. President." Sousuke turned and walked down the path.

"Good luck Sagara."

Sousuke said nothing as he left. Just then a taxi came by. He called it to a stop and entered. Six days and at this rate the first one was going to get him in trouble with a certain blue haired fiery female.

--

Elsewhere a large group of people continuing working in a very complicated looking room. The sound of typing and clicking and beeps made a little song in the well lit room. The man that was their leader typed information into another computer, while reading information he was receiving. He was not liking the results that were coming back.

"Maybe I should not have killed him so soon. This is a problem." Schneider kept rereading the information and opening other folders. He was looking for a way to fix his problem but was having difficulties. He wiped his brow as he continued.

"Subject is not compatible… does not recognize the software… system cannot be opened or cracked. Hacking has also been rendered useless….how? This device is our secret weapon we need to be able to activate it. Start off with one thing then remove it in favor of another and you get problems. The world can't be compatible with everything. No harmony among humans therefore the crap they make does the same thing pfft."

He continued running through information even as he complained. He took a large drink from his coffee typing even as he did. He grinned as he gave up.

"The bastard still causes me problems. Oh well I'll figure this out." He rose from his seat. "I'm going to meditate call me if anything happens." He received confirmation from one of the staff members before exiting the room. He bumped into a tall man when he exited. He looked up into his twisted smile. He took only a moment before recognizing him.

"Gauron…what are you doing here? I thought you would be ungrateful at your resurrection and leave."

"What me…nooo. I just went around having some fun. I heard Kashim was dead."

"Who…ooh. Yes he is dead. He was destroyed in battle against ten of our Raziel types. Though he failed to defeat them the arm-slaves worked perfectly. We had a minor problem but nothing we can't take care of."

"I see. What a shame. I guess all that's left is to tell Kashim's girlfriend. I'll see you later." Gauron tossed his gum as he turned to leave.

Schneider said nothing as he walked the other way to go to his own room. He yawned as he walked down the dimly lit hallway.

--

-Kaname's apartment-12 hours later.

"I'm going to kill him!" Kaname slammed the table as she shouted. They were gathered around a ground use study table.

"Come on Kana-chan he'll be back. It's no big deal right I mean he really only needs help in Classical Japanese and you have all of tomorrow to do that."

"Right one day won't cut it. I gave him my notes once and he took all night to complete the work. Then he forgot my notes and struggled incredibly hard and escaped the crazy cop just to get us back on time. Then we didn't get back on time because he was sick he had no idea what the hell he was doing and it turned out the teacher was sick as well and all I had to do was listen to what he was saying before running back to his apartment to know it was alright."

"Did you just incriminate yourself?" Shinji asked.

"Yeah sounds like it was you fault for what happened." Onodera added as he snuck peaks at her notes copying down information.

"That's not the point it was his fault for leaving it. Now it's been about twelve hours since he left today." Kaname breathed deeply he hands gripping the edges of the table hard.

"Wow how early did you two get up?" Mizuki tossed in. Ono-D's eyes bugged.

"Woah you two slept together?" Kaname blushed then hit him with a notebook. "No he came by this morning to ask about the studying then took off." It was a lie, but it sounded like an idiot move of Sousuke's before he goes off for awhile so she hoped they would believe it. "Really that's all?" Shiori tilted her head. Kaname rolled up a news paper near her. "Yes and I'm not going to talk about my private life with you guys."

"Well have you called him?" Kyouko pulled out her phone as she asked.

"Yeah about…32 times. I left a message on 20 of them." Kaname checked her outgoing calls. "Let's study I'm sure he'll be back soon if he knows what's good for him. If he fails I'm going to kill him."

Knock Knock Knock

Kaname turned to her door. She stood up and walked over. "Who is it?" She called out. After a moment she received a response. "Sagara." She looked through the peephole just to make sure. It was him looking ruffled. She sighed as she unlocked the door.

"Good afternoon Chidori."

"Not really where the hell have you been all day. What could Hayasimizu want that took you half a day? You didn't even answer my calls."

"I apologize. I was in the middle of a top secret mission. The details cannot be released but I assure it was very important." Actually he deleted her messages he had his phone off the whole time.

"So is you studying, and passing. Get in here wash up then you can tell me what happened."

"But Chidori I said the details were not to be discussed." He gave her a look meaning he was completely serious about it.

"Then don't give me details tell me everything you can without the important stuff just get in here."

Sousuke nodded before removing his boots and entering the apartment. When he walked he was greeted by the group before making his way to the bathroom. He washed his hands and face in the sink. Kaname walked in behind him with a brush. He assumed she was handing it to him but she wet his hair then began brushing it herself.

"Chidori?"

"Hmm?" She continued brushing his hair into an at least presentable fashion.

"That is unnecessary."

"What did you do to get your hair messed up like this?"

"I had to fix a problem and retrieve some information."

"I see. Well just let me finish here and you can go."

"Understood."

She smiled as she stared at his usual expression through the mirror.

Sousuke expression changed somewhat. "I…"

"What is it Sousuke?" She did not stop fixing his hair as she asked.

"I missed you…" Even if it was true he found it slightly difficult to admit but it was true and he knew it would please her. He was still an amateur but he was learning about woman somewhat, especially about Kaname. She smiled then bent forward then softly and briefly kissed his cheek. "I missed you too. Now come on before anyone gets suspicious."

"Understood." Sousuke waited two minutes after her before actually leaving the bathroom.

"So you gonna tell us about it?" Ono-D rested back on his hands. Everyone watched Sousuke as he took the open seat between Kaname and Shinji. "Tell you about what?"

"Why you were gone all day of course." Mizuki leaned on the table.

"We have studying we need to do."

"We have been studying for 3 hours now. You need to study but we're going to break and I'll make something to eat. You go ahead and explain while I'm busy." Kaname said as she rose to walk to the kitchen.

"But…roger." Sousuke faced the eager group. He sighed. Though he did not really have to it was not a big deal. He would just leave out certain parts.

"Well this morning at 0715 hours I received a call while eating breakfast. I was told I needed to meet someone for important business."

"You sure it wasn't Kaname calling for a booty call." Mizuki tossed in.

"Negative, and please do not interrupt me, that is rude." Mizuki lightly blushed then humphed, her anger from his remark evident.

"As I was saying I headed over then received the mission parameters…"

-Flash back-

He headed straight to where the file had told him he would be. He'd been stationary for awhile now. Shishimaru was meeting with the traitor as well as his members to confirm things. Sousuke sat above them listening to their conversation.

"That Sagara guy. Yeah we know what he does, did. It spread through he whole school after he left. A bunch of information started getting out. None of it's really bad or any worse then anything else but we could lie and use Sagara to make things sound worse." Sousuke eyed the traitor like a tiger eyeing it prey.

"You're sure no one knows about this?" Shishimaru spoke.

"Definitely, even the great Hayashimizu has no idea what we're doing."

"Excellent. Did you bring the rest of the files?"

"Yeah but first my money."

Sousuke remembered reading about a file that they let the traitor get as bait. Soon all hell would break loose and no one below him had any ideas. Sousuke watched as the leader waved his hand. A larger student walked up to him. The traitor was hit in the stomach the folder taken from him. He moved through the shadows his speed and stealth skills coming in handy. He held a switch as the man approached the leader with the folder.

"Thank you." Shishi took the vanilla folder.

Click

A small explosion went off form the folder and from above causing the sprinklers to start.

He had set up explosives before. Sousuke moved silently disabling the confused men with a tazer. He knocked out each one then tied them up.

"That was too easy. I expected him to have better guards. His Excellency made this sound much worse. Sousuke wasted no more time as he pulled out a water proof bag and began collecting all the folders of information. Now he would have to go to the school and retrieve the rest, and then go to the house of each member to make sure he did not miss anything. He remembered his other mission to return to study. It was 1 pm now meaning he did not have too much longer considering how much he still had to do. He had been sitting and listening, and recording a large collection of conversation held by his targets. He pulled out a small yellow stick tightly wrapped with only the end exposed. He waved it in front of Shishimaru's nose. The man woke up startled wrinkling his nose form the smell of the small item.

"Who-who are you?"

"I'm asking the questions. Where is the rest of the information?"

"What oh I see your from-Ah!" Sousuke cracked his finger.

"Next time I will break it if you do not answer my questions. Now where are the rest of the documents. Even the ones that hold the lies ready to be distributed."

"I can't... I will not tel-AHHH!" A cracking noise worse then before could be heard as Sousuke bent his finger back causing it to do an upside down L.

"I won't…"

A click was heard as Sousuke put the barrel of his gun against his temple.

"What you aren't really going to shoot me are you?"

"If necessary."

"Ok okay fine. In the student council office at the school there's a locked drawer behind a picture. In there is a safe you need the code to unlock it."

"The code then what is it?"

"I can't tell you."

Sousuke pulled the gun away in his mouth. "I am trying to refrain from having to cause you too much damage. Perhaps the breaking of your finger was unnecessary so early but you needed to know I was serious. Now tell me the combination."

"Mga, mgkay!" He mumbled gibberish with the gun in his mouth.

"Well."

"It's 2, 12, 12,10,20,2."

"I see. Simple enough not very original but that should make it easy. Of course how do I know you are not lieing. Maybe I should use something else."

"No please it's the truth."

"The rest of the information where is it?"

"I just told you."

"I know you keep it in your house. Not wanting a traitor to take the information to use it against you as you have used."

"Ok it's in my room top left corner of the house. Behind the dresser there's a small cavity in the wall the rest are in there. There I told you now let me go please!"

"Fine but I am going to tie you to the ceiling incase I need to come back."

"You work for Hayashimizu don't you…that bastard hiring some…" Sousuke placed the gun against his head.

"No I do not. I am merely a concerned person. You will hopefully forget any of this happened understood."

"Umm…sure."

Sousuke pulled out a small towel and lightly doused chloroform on it. Shishi quickly fell asleep. About ten minutes later everyone was tied to the ceiling and left with a message that for their own good they would listen to. Sousuke was gone. The house was a good distance from the location he had to go to. First he had to take care of delivering what he currently had. '

"After that I delivered it then had to head over to the house to retrieve the rest. The house had a high security level so it took me longer then expected. Found out about other hidden information and went after it in other locations. After I finally finished I returned here. The mission took an estimate of eleven hours." (Sousuke's actual telling of the event left out all mention of Hayashimizu or the school, and anything else incriminating about what he said earlier.)

"Well you've been gone twelve so what did you do for an hour. Are you cheating on Kaname?" Mizuki asked her negative spark jumping out again.

"Negative in that time was receiving the information, and collecting equipment."

"So wait this means our buddy here and Kaname are…"

"Yep." Kyouko spoke before he could finish. Ono-d and Shinji turned to Sousuke.

"You didn't tell us." Shinji eyed him.

"Yeah! On another note how is she you know in-" Before he could finish this time a large frying pan came down on his head. Kaname glared at him and was about to speak when Sousuke decided to answer.

"She is very kind. She does not hit me so much, and does not hit me when I don't deserve it. She is very helpful as well. In many cases she makes an excellent partner." Sousuke crossed his arms speaking matter-of –factly.

Kaname smiled at him. "Thank you."

"It's not a problem I am merely saying the truth."

"Good now don't answer any more questions they may have. Especially from Ono-D."

"Understood."

Kaname bent down next to Onodera. "And you won't be asking anymore will you?" Her voice was a low evil hiss.

"No." Ono-D felt a shiver go up his spine. Kyouko and Mizuki giggled. Shinji moved back when she turned her glare on him. She stood up smiled at Sousuke once more before returning to the kitchen. Sousuke caught Ono-D smiling suspiciously.

"Kotarou may I ask what you are planning. You're face reminds me of Kurz when he is planning something."

"Oh nothing. Just can't wait to tell our friends at school. Too bad you waited until the end of the year though."

"You will do nothing of the sort."

"Try and stop me." Ono-d gave Sousuke a challenging grin. Sousuke wanted to do something but he was technically civilian level now. He would have to take care of a lot of problems by himself no organization to take care of it. Torturing people was not exactly something a civilian did either. He had only one choice. Sousuke stood up and walked towards the kitchen. Kyouko and Mizuki smiled at him.

"I've told some people but nothing big. You plan on telling the school something may happen." Mizuki grinned evilly at Ono-D.

"I wonder what Kana-chan will do." Kyouko turned a similar look on Ono-D as well.

He began sweating. Maybe he should have made it a surprise.

Sousuke walked back into the room with a soak shirt. "It seems Kaname was surprised. Apparently she feels I need a shower." Sousuke pulled the shirt away and look at it. "I will head to my apartment. I will return shortly."

"Well it's going to be a long night. Since you're late we're going to need to study longer to help you. Maybe we can make a game out of it." Shiori suggested.

"Understood" Sousuke walked towards the front door and left.

Ono-D turned towards the entrance to the kitchen. He fell back when he saw Kaname standing there an evil grin on her face as well.

Sousuke heard something he could not quite make out as he headed back to his apartment.

His time gone was relatively short. When he returned Kaname had just begun serving dinner.

"Hey sergeant." She said as she served an extra plate.

"Chidori I have told you I am no longer…"

"A sergeant got it." She served herself a plate last. They all sat around the table some pulling up extra chairs.

"Hey Sousuke you know that Leonard guy came by earlier." Ono-D shot out through a mouthful of food. Sousuke looked uninterested as he continued eating.

"Well aren't you going to ask about it?" Shiori put in. "Yeah what if Kaname cheated on you?" Mizuki tossed in. Kaname wondered if Mizuki was really her friend because the girl loved to be a pain in the ass. She looked at Sousuke out of the corner of her eye.

"Negative. It is not my business what Chidori does privately unless she wishes to tell me. I trust her in such a situation I do not think she would act against me in such a way."

Sousuke ate another piece of meat.

"Well while we're here let's see what Sousuke knows." Kyouko decided they could so they would know what to teach and where to start.

"Ok sure what do you think Kaname." Shinji turned to her. She swallowed a piece of food before answering. "If you guys want."

"Ok Sousuke what was the name of the clan that Nakatomi no Katamari started the era of in 645 and until when did it last."

Sousuke thought a moment. He had recently gone over something about samurai which actually mentioned this in the early rise of the samurai.

"The clan was the Fujiwara clan and it lasted until the rise of the military class or samurai in the 11th century. Also in the same year the Taika reforms were realized establishing a new government system after the Chinese model."

"That was a little more than necessary Sousuke." Kaname said. Sousuke looked at her. "But isn't more knowledge about this subject necessary to pass. I merely proved this and now maybe you will not waste a question on it." She eyed him for a moment. "Fine then since we're talking about samurai answer this."

"But we are not talking about samurai specifically."

"Shut up. Name the era in which the samurai were in high demand. Also known as the chaotic Era of Warring states."

"Muromachi period 1330 through 1573."

"The names right but the year was 1333 to 1573."

Sousuke pulled out a small notebook and wrote it down.

"What is that cheat sheet?" Kaname had her harisen near-by just in case.

"Negative I am taking notes."

"Sousuke we're seeing what you know you can take notes when we teach you."

"Understood." He put away the small book after writing the information anyway.

The rest of dinner continued this way. Sousuke had to change his shirt again after helping Kaname with the dishes. He was starting to leave quite a few shirts here which luckily she cleaned for him so it wasn't a problem to change. Luckily no one noticed much of this so they didn't get suspicious about why he had clothes there. As they said after teaching Sousuke they played a question answering game. Kyouko won but everyone was alright with it. It was about midnight when everyone prepared to leave.

"See you guys later." Kaname stood at the door.

"Sure you don't want help?" Kyouko asked still in front of her.

"No thanks Sousuke will help me clean up."

"Ok see you later Kana-chan."

After there goodbyes Kaname walked back in to find Sousuke already set to cleaning her living room.

"Well Sousuke you didn't do too bad today."

"Thank you. You did very well yourself."

Kaname walked over to him. He picked up some more ignoring her approach.

She said nothing as she smiled and began cleaning as well. They spent the next 25 minutes cleaning in silence except for the vacuum.

Kaname patted her hands together when the finished.

"We're done. Thanks Sousuke."

"Not a problem. I should go now. I will see you tomorrow."

"Are you sure?"

"…"

Kaname smiled. Him actually pausing was entertaining. "I should not keep doing this." Sousuke lowered his head as he turned around.

"Why not?"

"I should not get used to sleeping here."

"You know you like it."

He lowered his head further. "Affirmative."

"Well if you want you can go back to your place though I don't know how much peace you'll get. Or you can sleep on the couch."

"That seems reasonable."

"Okay. Well I'm going to bed I'll shower in the morning. Good night Sousuke."

"Good night." Sousuke watched as she walked into her room and closed the door.

Sousuke looked down at his watch. "5 days left."

sorry it took long for a short chapter
