Chapter 36

The cold steel of the handle could hardly be felt through the materials of his gloves. He swallowed preparing himself what could be beyond this door. He heard banging from it and he swore he heard his name called. He tried to open the door but it was holding tight. He placed both hands on it and pushed it open with more force. When he looked inside he did not expect what he saw. He looked around for any cameras. There was one to his right. He put a bullet into it, subtlety not important to him at this point. He walked up to a large device. Two machines surrounded a single capsule. There were sensors, and screens showing life signs and data around it. He walked up to examine the capsule. No surprise when he found a human body floating in a strange red liquid. The other rooms probably had similar machines with similar subjects. He examined the information running along one screen. One of course gave the condition of the person the others showed collected data. Sousuke sighed and turned to leave. Suddenly the screen for lifeline made a continued high-pitched noise. Before he could respond he heard footsteps coming and he had not closed the door. He hid behind the machinery once again holding his weapon just in case. The men finally reached the room.

"The doors open!" the first said as he ran in.

"You think he did it? Well forget it let's hurry up and try to fix this!" The men started checking the equipment and typing. They clicked touch screens, and changed out capsules placed in slots of the machines. The loud noise did not cease.

"He's gone." One man lowered his head.

"Well let's clear this up then have a clean up crew get him out of here." The second man walked over to a com device on the inside wall near the door.

"Clean up. Room 5a." He waited for a response then walked back to the other doctor.

"It's a shame when they go." He clicked a button releasing the fluid in the tank, and the needles, and wires attached to him automatically pulled back leaving marks. Sousuke sat patiently as more footsteps approached. The assumed leader of the group of 5 stepped forward.

"Okay we have this." The man clicked a button to release the glass on the capsule. Somehow it shattered upward sending shards flying into, and through the man killing him. The other watched as the man inside the capsule slowly rose. The fluid dripping from his hair. The young man was breathing raggedly, eyeing his captors.

"What are you doing? Shoot him with tranquilizer!" One of the doctors shouted. The men reached for their guns but before they could get them out 2 of them were torn in half their blood painting the walls and nearby people. The two survivors did not wait as they fired at him. The darts stopped mid-air. Each one flew back into each of one of the first doctor's eyes. Blood dripped as the man screamed as he went on the floor. One of the guards was all ready calling into the com.

"We need special units! We've got a live one!" After he finished a large force of light smashed his body into the wall leaving nothing but a bloody pulp. A single doctor and guard stood left. They ran back trying to escape but the door closed instantly by an unseen force. They stared back at the dripping man.

"You...bast-bastards…" His voice was shaky.

"Please leave us alone. We're only follow---gahh ughh." The doctor made choking noises and held his neck gasping for air. His head twisted and spun off leaving yet another bloody mess. The final guard fired off real rounds at the man. A mistake he hardly lived to regret as they returned into his body. He sat on the floor hardly being able to move from the pain and bullets in his arms and legs.

"Oh please help me lord." The man started chanting religious prayers, and pulled out a small cross on a chain on his neck. The man grunted when the cross flew into his chest, and twisted into his heart. He coughed up blood and made a few more breaths before he was relieved of his limbs. Sousuke watched the scene unfold in front of him. The young man turned and stared at him. Their eyes locked and Sousuke slowly stood up. The man looked at the offending weapon. Sousuke noticed but held on to the small handgun. He once again locked stares with the man.

"You are not one of them. You aren't here to exploit us." The man took on an upright posture, and he seemed completely ok.

"Negative I am not here as your enemy." Sousuke answered. The man looked deep into Sousuke's eyes. "What is happening to me? Why are these people doing this to us? What did I just do to those men? The man sank to the floor crying. His exhaustion, confusion, anger, and other emotions all coming down at once.

Sousuke pinched the bridge of his nose. He did not have time to help this man. Before he could do anything the door opened. A man with strangely styled blue hair walked into the room.

"I hear we're having a problem." He smirked as he examined the massacre from a moment ago. "Well done…you were experiment 354 but what is your name…"

"Who are-"Before the man finished he was flung against the wall. The blue haired man glared at him.

"You are under our watch. You should not be using your power to do stupid things and going on rampages. You are lucky you are alive. We will help you hone your skills and you will join our army. Now you will obey like a dog. Understand."

The man stared at the blue haired man while quivering on the floor.

"How dare you look at me?" A whip of light slapped the man's cheek leaving a mark.

Sousuke watched as the man did these actions as if he weren't there. Sousuke took a step forward. The man finally acknowledged him.

"And who…are you?"

Sousuke ignored the offender and continued walking. A large wave of light flew towards him. He tossed his arm around dispersing the light. The blue haired man smirked.

"So you are a successful experiment?"

Sousuke glared coldly at him. "Negative…" The blue haired man had hardly a second before he went flying out of the door. Sousuke walked over to the quivering man.

"Stay here. I will make sure you are all okay after I take care of some business." The man nodded. Sousuke handed him a sheet from his bag. The man wrapped it around himself.

Sousuke nodded before turning to leave. He closed the door after he stepped into the hall. Now he definitely had to hurry. He jumped to the side as a wave cut through where he was standing.

"You bastard!" the blue haired man shouted he launched another wave of light. Sousuke sighed as the light vanished before hitting him.

"You are but an experiment." Sousuke's voice sounded in the hall. Nothing could be seen in the darkness of the hall. All that could be heard was a man's sickening screams and the sound of untold acts against human flesh. Nothing but calm footsteps could be heard in the darkness after.

-Origin living rooms-

Kaname sat impatiently on the sofa. The door had opened but her hopes were smashed when a guard was at the door. The guard or messenger was definitely higher up because he wore a suit and acted different from the other guards. He had taken her to a comfy room where she could use a refrigerator bathroom, TV, vending machines anything she wanted while she waited for whoever wished to speak to her. She decided to take a sub-sandwich that was in the fridge, and eat a chocolate bar. She had been brought here and told to wait until someone came to see her. Leonard looked confused and worried when they took her. He looked angrier though. Now she had been sitting here for a good hour or so. The TV they were lucky to have in there so she could watch or a serious problem would be happening. Kaname sat bent forward watching TV chewing on the chocolate bar as the door opened. She watched as a single man entered. She recognized the man. The sheathed katana he carried let her remember him more easily. This guy she already knew was a jerk. The only difference was he had a thin but long pony-tail, and his hair was in backward spikes rather than lying flat like before. He did not look at her as he turned off the TV and took a reclining chair. He rested into it and watched the blue haired whispered girl. She glared back at him. Turning off the television and staring at her was not very polite. The man bounced his foot as he watched her resting his chin on the back of his hand.

"Can I help you?" She spoke her impatience, and displeasure evident in her voice.

He only continued staring but this time leaned forward resting his chin on folded hands while his elbows rested on his knees. She watched as he looked her up and down.

"Attractive, has he taken you yet?"

Kaname was confused a moment before she finally realized what he meant. She immediately shot up her arms shot straight down against her sides, as well as crushing her bar in her fist. "Why does everyone keep asking me that?"

Col raised his eyebrow. "Rash, angry, little control over temper, perhaps gets into a lot of fights of some sort.

Kaname turned red with anger raising her arm to strike him. Suddenly she felt a draft and followed the young man's eyes to a new visual location. Kaname turned red with embarrassment now seeing the oversized pants had slid down her legs.

"Nice…"

She quickly reached down and pulled the pants up holding them with one hand. She was confused when the sitting samurai handed her a long piece of material.

"It's thin but strong. Use it too tie those."

Kaname hesitated before taking the pants and tying it around the belt area of her pants. Still blushing she thanked him.

"So you are Kaname Chidori. We have met before. I see you are still worthless."

"Hey! I'm not worthless!"

"Well your physique is favorable, and shows you are athletic and is very successful in physical talents but I can tell your martial skills are nothing to be proud of. You can probably defend yourself against other girls, and children but most men would probably be able to defeat you even without training."

"I'll have you know I know some serious moves. I've done legendary suplex moves on Sousuke, and when I saw him at Hong Kong I gave him three good hits, plus I know how to fight. We've had plenty of Sousuke induced brawls in class. I span two guys around and tossed then and kicked another guy like Chun-li in the stomach."

"Your classmates must be very weak then. As for Sagara I'm sure he has never approached you with hostile intent most likely taking the punishment on purpose. As I said your control of temper are not very good and have probably caused a lot of problems. Speaking of Sagara do you know where he is?"

Kaname lifted her nose at him and crossed her arms.

"No idea. He left before I ended up here."

"So he refused to protect you. If he had left right before he should have been able to return to save you immediately. Also since you could not defend yourself that proves my point of you being weak."

"No he just left, I guess he was gone really fast. He said he had something really important to do. He probably doesn't even know I'm gone. And as for being captured I would have beaten him but he used some kind of psychic stuff. He clearly cheated."

"If I know who you are talking about he is merely a tool. Recreated and used using information we have gained. The psychic power as you call it is rather complicated. Most humans use about five to ten percent of their brain their whole lives. Most, the crack-heads and idiots of this world use less, you get the point. Now while normal people use only that much, genius's are said to use a bit more maybe up to fifteen, but really they are just exploiting every inch of brain power they can get from that ten percent. Whispered like ourselves, have the capability to use twenty maybe even thirty percent. Now because we are capable does not mean we do. We could be the ones using fifteen percent but studies show it is most likely higher. Now it is a theory that if human can use more than ten percent of their brain even if not for becoming intelligent they can use mental force to move objects or affect thins, even manipulate energy. The lambda driver is an example of an accelerated brain. Taking images we call imagination ands memory and making it physical. Now we have studied this along with whispered minds to harness this sort of power in humans whispered, and non-whispered alike. Gauron can use about fifty or sixty percent of his brain. The reason he can do such things that you call psychic powers which they technically are, is because he has not gained any intelligence. His mind is truly twisted but it is absolute. As for whispered like us, I have manipulated this power on a higher level, naturally. Gauron is unnatural his power given to him by people. My mental ability I have worked for. Whispered like yourself who use only knowledge do using nothing more than academics to do things. That is not bad because you can still harness in ways of knowledge and though you will not be able to do as much physically you can boost you mental ability to do the things you've witnessed done. Of course whispered, and non-whispered are all humans therefore share the same trait with the ability to excel. But most humans lack the enhanced knowledge therefore never wants to start. Did you know that many of the worlds original martial artists were whispered who manipulated the ability in a physical form?"

Kaname raised an eyebrow. "So Bruce Lee was whispered?"

Col lowered his eyes. "No he's an exception but an excellent example of a normal human learning to do similar feats. So some of the things you see in anime and movies where you see the person fly far back or have energy rush through their body is not completely false even if slightly exaggerated."

Kaname sat finally plopped down onto the couch. "This is serious stuff but why are you telling me this?"

"Because you deserve to know. You are a whispered yourself. Also I am interested because you were around Sagara an extended period of time."

Kaname rolled her eyes. "Why do all you guys always fall back to Sousuke? That Schneider guy said some weird things and now you are saying weird things. While I understand it's kind of hard to believe."

"We have gundams for heaven's sake what is so hard about this."

"Gundam's are not arm-slaves. And whispered before were being really smart now you're telling me people can do crazy things like use a natural lambda driver."

"You saw and felt it from Gauron yourself."

"Yeah but come on!"

"As for Sagara he is a special case. I'm sure Schneider gave you the details. As to explain why you are getting all this information has to do with Sagara as well as trying to convert you to our side."

"No your boss didn't tell me anything but scratches."

"I'm sure he had his reasons. Well Sagara is not a whispered. But he is a special case. His contact with you as well as various other whispered and technology of whispered has affected him over time. Schneider made the mistake of trying to exploit this in the beginning and now we are transferring all our data so we can use what we have without him. I was told about the incident ton the submarine."

"Yeah your boss said that was important." Kaname was annoyed and looked away remembering her talk with Schneider. Suddenly a question popped into her head.

"Hey why do you guys keep taking Leonard out of the room so much?"

Col looked at her and grinned lightly. "We are speaking to him. He is being cooperative to ensure your safety. We are testing his uses. He is rebellious occasionally however."

Col looked at her his expression, calm with a bit of amusement.

"Tell me which do you prefer, a suave sophisticated man like Leonard. He is very intelligent and good at taking charge. He knows what he wants. Or someone like Sagara. A mere shadow in the world that kills and is defined as a living weapon."

"Sousuke."

Col rise in amusement was evident on his features.

"He can do more than kill. I've taught him how to do other things. He can cook, and he's still learning. He doesn't fit in perfectly but he's getting better at being in normal society. He can hold a conversation not only military based even if he doesn't say much. He can do a lot of things which have nothing to do with being a weapon like you say. For a killer he can kiss." Kaname blushed at the last part. Col's amusement grew so far as to the point where he was actually able to lightly chuckle.

"Interesting. Very interesting. However." Kaname froze when she felt the cold steel on the bottom of her chin.

"Whether he can do that or not is not important. He is my opponent."

Col was surprised even further when Kaname pushed the blade away.

"I know you can't do anything to me right now so put away your sword and cut out the theatrics. I'm not going to say Sousuke isn't good at what he does but it isn't the only thing he does. As for fighting you that is my business, and if you hurt him I swear…"

Kaname stopped short when he burst out laughing.

"What's so funny?"

"The thought of you protecting him." His face changed back to its usual seriousness in an instant.

"I see why he likes you so much. Now I would like to explain to you how this all ties in with the original purpose for whispered. Black Technology. With this deeper control of the mind we can gain access to better and more efficient black technology. The Arm-slaves for example are extensions of the body as some say. I spoke with a man named Clouzot one who had a type of philosophy on this. Well as I was saying Arm-slaves are interesting because they are not just machines as extensions they have other potentials."

Col stopped when someone knocked on the door.

"Well that is enough for now. You know you are quite privileged for a prisoner."

Kaname sighed, and shrugged her shoulders. "Yeah I here that a lot."

Soon the door was opened and the man from before was waiting.

"It was nice talking to you Miss Kaname."

"Actually I would like to talk more. He can wait."

Col looked at her annoyed. "You know you're a captive right?"

"Yeah but if you guys are giving me all these perks I need to take advantage of them."

Col rolled his eyes then smiled. "Come back later I am till speaking." He called to the door. He heard and reply of agreement then returned his gaze to the blue haired one in front of him.

"So should I continue?"

"Yeah just let me get a soda."

Kaname went to the fridge. She returned and tossed him a can of Dr. Pepper."

Col caught it and looked at her confused.

"You're going to be talking so you may want a drink. I'm only being considerate."

Col popped the top and took a drink.

"Well yes. Thank you."

Kaname took her own drink and prepared to hear more from the person in front of her.

"As I was saying. Arm-slaves being an extension of the human body can also be used to amplify certain human abilities. If such things are harnessed they can be amplified and an arm-slave can become even greater. That does not mean a strong person cannot beat an arm-slave but for two equal opponents's the one in the arm-slave will most likely prevail."

"I see. But how would a person beat an arm-slave without a lot of weapons or something."

"You've seen it yourself. The weird things you've seen recently."

"Yeah once on a cliff with a lot of heavy rain but I wasn't really looking then, and Gauron isn't very good at hiding it. He loves using his psychic ability."

"Yes well. As for Sagara he limits the use of this. He has secrets we wish to learn about but he is no normal person and succeeded in escaping. I feel what has happened to him is unfair but he is still my opponent and I wish to defeat him. Right now we are in the advancement of our technology and getting it out. The Raziel arm-slaves are minor breakthroughs. Though once again I have no idea why I am telling you this. Why Schneider told you anything, why anyone is telling you anything at all."

"Maybe they like me."

Col looked at her seriously.

"Perhaps it's your strong soul. Your nature is not that of the stereotypes weak girl but you are saved a lot and that is a stereotype you have not escaped."

"Yeah well you stereotype guys that are all nothing but fighters."

"Yes Sagara and I are fighters. You do not have to be intelligent to get through life. Not all men are made to be smart. In fact despite being homo-sapiens perhaps the man was not made to be smart."

Kaname thought about it a moment. "Would you consider socially inept and bad at classical Japanese stupid."

"Is he Japanese?"

"Yes."

"Then yes."

The two chuckled for a bit.

"But no Sousuke can be pretty smart about stuff he knows. He's good at math and machines, and physics and science and stuff because of his training in Mithril. Recently most of his grades got better though."

"Yes well. We have spoken long enough. An escort should be there."

Before anyone moved the door was opened and the man from before stood there.

"Once again it was nice talking to you Kaname."

"You too just next time try a better first impression." With that the door was closed behind her. The young swordsman found himself chuckling again. He became serious just as quickly.

'Kaname Chidori…interesting indeed. Just wait Sagara.'

He turned on the TV with a remote and reclined in the chair.

-Origin Facility: Sub-levels-

He was almost there. He had no doubt that once the man they sent out didn't return they would send in others. He kept his weapons with him as he continued down the hallway. He could see the elevator door now. As he expected no guards surrounded it. He clicked the button to call the elevator once he reached it. He hoped no one would notice it was called, even luckier if they didn't see it went down. He was relieved after 20 seconds of waiting for the elevator. He guessed it wasn't that high if it got to him that quickly. He clicked the button that would take him down. He had to be sure of something before completing his mission. He held his gun ready as the elevator lowered deeper into the compound. He watched as the small screen showed he had finally reached the 12 basement level. This place was dangerous he had to be over a mile under the ground now. He walked forward walking into nothing but complete darkness. A moment later a flashlight was the only visual aid in the darkness. He walked forward hoping to locate what he was looking for. But if it was here there should be some source of light. He pulled out his electronic schematics the making its own light. This was the only place that could or would hold it according to the map. He sighed deciding it was not here. He already guessed it wouldn't be. It wasn't moved, it can't be moved so it was never here. He sighed and turned back around. Time to go see his target. The elevator ride up wasn't what he expected. While long he was not stopped once. He held his gun up out of pure suspicion. Finally he reached the top floor. He stepped to the side as the doors opened. Nothing. He aimed his weapon and slowly walked in taking cover then maneuvering through the room as he went. When he knew he could just walk casually but he didn't want to take the chance. This room had a lot of desks so anyone could hide anywhere he hadn't been yet. He swallowed and gave in. Sousuke held his weapon next to him and walked casually across the room. He had a bad feeling but continued. The room was exactly as he remembered which meant a control room should be two corridors and three rooms away. He moved through the, for some reason dark rooms and corridors connecting them. He checked them all not finding anyone there.

'What is going on? This must be trap. Be careful concentrate.' Mentally noting the obvious he continued towards the final room. He took a deep breath before trying to open the door. The electronic lock would not let him through. He reached into his bag for a square object about 4 inches long. He placed it on the small number-pad and in a few seconds was rewarded with the door opening. He replaced the small device and entered the room.

"Empty as well…" Before he could completely confirm it all the screens blinked then turned into an image. Sousuke stared coldly at the image on the screens.

"Hey kiddo. I trust your ride up was uneventful. Well we did that for a reason. For now I would like to ask how you are doing."

"…" He continued to stare coldly at the screen.

"Now, now we can still be friends. But we have a present for you. The kids have been dieing to see you. Haven't you wondered how they have been?"

Sousuke walked towards the screens but before he could take a fifth step the floor fell in dropping Sousuke with it. He heard the chuckling from the screens as he fell. He counted thirty seconds in his descent so far. He had to have fallen through other floor meaning this was made for all the floors. Sousuke caught his balance in the air preparing himself as he fell. Unfortunately he wasn't anywhere near the edges. He maneuvered himself as he fell to reach one end. He gave up when the bottom became visible. He prepared himself for the impact. A loud thud could be heard as he impacted with the floor. Sousuke winced on the floor still unable to move from the shock traveling through his body. After a few more moments he was able to stand. He looked around only to find he was at the bottom again. He saw two strange figures in the shadows in front of him. The images became clearer when lights slowly dimmed their way to completely on. He was surprised by what he saw. Two arm-slaves. Human shaped but shorter than the average arm-slave. They resembled children. One had pony-tails and a skirt. The pony-tails were made of material similar to what usually came out of the back of Gauron's Codarl and Venom's. He figured those must be lambda drivers.

The boys had a bow tie. Other than that none looked more human like than the average advanced arm-slave.

"Hello Sousuke." A little girl's voice sounded from the young girl looking machine.

"Hey Sousuke how ya doing?" He recognized the young boy's voice as well. Sousuke could not believe what would be happening in just a few moments.
