-Chapter 42-
"Everyone prepare to deploy." Tessa said her voice going into the radio sets of the Mithril forces. The special copters carrying the arm-slaves were already lifting out of the TDD-1. The Chinooks took off two minutes afterwards as planned. The passengers could see the sun still rising as they rose higher into the sky. Luckily they were coming with the sun to their backs making it harder for there enemies to notice them especially since they were in ECS mode. The special copters approached quickly. It didn't look as if the enemy expected them.
"Alright get ready for drop in 10 seconds." Clouzot spoke to all the AS units. Clouzot began to count off the seconds before drop. Clouzot, Mao, Kurz, and Spake were each made the leaders of one of the four AS units. Lillian was in Spake's unit both being weakest with the lambda driver, they were on the same side as Clouzot.. Clouzot was the leader of Unit B while Kurz was the leader of D meaning they were doing the fighting of the enemy's mobile units. Mao and Spake's units A, and C meant they were supposed to destroy as much as they could. They all prepared themselves for the upcoming battle.
"Now!" The pilots released the locks for the arm-slaves. Two units of arm-slaves dropped on each end. The enemy began to fire up at them meaning they had finally noticed them.
"Looks like the party has finally started." Kurz fired multiple times already taking out some of the enemies defenses.
"Good job but don't get cocky." Mao spoke to Kurz. She fired a few shots herself destroying some oncoming missiles. They could see the enemy AS coming out of the base.
"We're about to make contact. Get ready." Clouzot spoke to the units again. They landed on the island shortly after. The enemy AS were already engaging them. The M9s were version 2 so they were superior to the old models. They were not equipped with lambda drivers but they performed significantly better, they were also equipped with a prototype shield meant to imitate the lambda driver's ability to protect without using the mind. Of course it wasn't nearly as effective it worked for weaker attacks. The M9's took out as much of the stationary weaponry as they could. The ARX leaders focused on destroying the enemies. Most of the oncoming enemies were weak and easily taken out with the lambda driver.
"Isn't this too easy?" Kurz said as he fired through the body of an enemy AS trying to attack one of the M9's. The enemies were mostly Raptor, and Javelin types. Having experience with these AS made the battle simpler. Mao destroyed two more enemies with machinegun fire.
"Maybe but let's not question our luck. Remember they have better arm-slaves waiting in there. They will probably send some out soon" Mao destroyed two more AA guns and launchers. Explosions rang out throughout the island as the battle progressed. So far Mithril's units were doing well. They had effectively taken out Anti-Air ability allowing the Chinooks to approach the island.
"Units A and C protect the copters holding the assault, and rescue units so they can land and the units can dispatch." Tessa ordered the pilots.
"You heard her protect those Chinooks." Clouzot said turning destroying an enemy with his lambda driver. The Chinooks would take 1 minute to approach where they needed. Kurz fired a single bullet covered in light. It flew through three enemy AS and finished off inside a tank. Mao clashed with a Javelin before destroying it with her monolecular-cutter. Spake and Lillian continued destroying what they could.
Sousuke waited with the rest of the assault, and rescue units A in the MH-47E. He could see the other unit B's helicopter not too far away. They were almost ready to descend and unload. From there he would be mostly on his own. He did not have the exact same goals as the others here. He could hear the battle taking place below them. The enemy did not expect them which meant one thing.

Inside the facility a man rose from a desk. He closed his laptop and began gathering his things. He placed most of it into a bag and walked towards the door. Before he took two steps his head fell off. A man carrying a sword stepped forth from the shadows and stared down at the decapitated body.
"So you were the traitor. It seems Sagara is still resourceful." The silver haired swordsman made a look of complete disdain before walking towards the door and closing it behind him. A small pool of blood continued to grow around the lifeless body.

The helicopters were having difficulty landing. Defending them was not as easy as just fighting the enemy. The NH-90's were being very helpful in keeping enemies away though. They had also shot into windows of the facility and fired missiles. While some of the facility was above ground most of it reached deeper in, meaning they could only do so much from there.
"A&R units A, B, C, and D have all been dispatched without any problems. We're proceeding to enter the base." The mercenaries moved to desired locations preparing to enter. The Chinooks were already on their way out.One of the soldiers made a hand sign. Clouzot fired a grenade at the main door making an entrance.
"We've done what we can up here. Let the choppers do the rest. Units B, and D use your designated entrance. Units A, and C follow me." Clouzot called into the radio. He received 'rogers' from everyone and they gathered at the entrance points. Instead of using a monolecular-cutter the doors were blown open with the lambda driver.
"Remember we have no maps and we only record where we've been. They have enemy AS down here be on your guard and work together." Mao spoke to all the units.
"We will prepare to map and support you." Tessa informed the AS units as they began entering the underground passageways. A new type of image appeared on one of the screens. The image began bringing up area maps as they began to progress into the tunnel.
"Actually captain we have incoming enemies from 20 knots and a depth of 500 meters."
The staff member in charge of radar showed Tessa what they were picking up. She nodded and turned to Mardukas. "Prepare for battle everyone."
"Aye Ma'am!" They all shouted in unison.
Sousuke was traveling with rescue unit A for now. They had engaged in combat almost immediately after entering the base. They were currently in a hallway fighting their way in. Assault unit A was currently taking care of most of the fight. Sousuke getting fed up with the time it was taking pulled on a grenade. He waited before throwing it giving the enemy no time to escape when it landed in the group. An explosion followed by screams was heard. The two teams waited before moving forward; no one questioning his tactics. Transmissions from the other units told them they were doing pretty much the same. One of the assault members stepped around the corner and was instantly shot down.
"Assault unit-A has lost a man." After sending out the information he threw a smoke grenade. When the smoke shot out three men went out and fired into the smoke. They quickly ran behind cover just as return fire came.
"Fire a rocket into the hall." Sousuke looked towards one of the soldiers equipped with rockets. The man hesitated but when he looked into his eyes he ran out and fired into the end of the hall. A short explosion and smoke rushed out. After receiving the signal more soldiers advanced into the hallway. Sousuke followed them brandishing a TMP.
"What the hell is that?" A voice was heard on the headset.
"What's going on!" Sousuke called into the headset.
"Robot's or something. I think…" They next thing they heard was firing. This continued for about thirty seconds before they received a response.
"This is Unit B. They're taken care of for now. These guns really are powerful." The leader of unit C finished and continued his work. The other units acknowledged it and continued down their paths. They faced more enemy fire and similar robots but they were taken out with a good amount of effort.
"This is Unit-D we're in trouble. We're at point 102 heavy enemy fire and…" The line went dead before they finished.
"Captain Assault and Rescue units D have been taken out." One of the staff spoke to Tessa.
"Not good now focus on our current battle." The TDD-1 had already taken out one of 4 enemy subs.
Loud gun-fire was also coming from where the arm-slaves were. They had fought tanks, and AS about thirty seconds in.
"Urzu 9 look out!" Clouzot called out to Lillian. She activated her lambda driver just in time to destroy an enemy that had come from down another tunnel.
"This is dangerous." She said as they continued fighting their way in. They continued walking in peace until they reached a large passage. After passing through it they were in a large room. A few Raziel types were hovering in the room. Other Raptors and Javelins were posted at different points along the room. Two moreappeared behind them at the entrance.
"Oh crap." Spake said as he looked at the number of enemies they were about to face.
"Don't let it get to you. Urzu 8, and 9 we'll take care of the floating arm-slaves. Everyone else do what you can. Remember help each other." Clouzot gave the orders. The enemies waited no longer as they lunged towards the outnumbered Mithril Unit. Lights flashed as lambda drivers collided. The M9's did what they could to destroy some of the enemy AS.
Clouzot was able to force one of the Raziel's back causing it to flip in the air. He leapt to the side a Raptor slammed into where he was. He looked to see more jumping down.
He had little time to think as more AS attacked him. He used the lambda driver to take out the weaker units but the Raziels only countered his attack. One of the M9's was destroyed.
"Shit!" Lillian turned and took out two enemies approaching her. She grunted when she felt something slam into her. She turned around to find Urzu 8 with a gun pointed towards her.
"Spake…what are you doing?" Her eyes widened as she watched him standing before her.
"I'm not Spake." The voice sounded completely different. All the pilots of the AS were surprised especially Urzu 1, 2, and 6.
"What do you mean but- all this time."
"I'm a spy. Spake did die the day Merida Island was attacked not that you would know about that. If you must know I went through the same training as Wraith. We just had different uses for our talents. I've been a spy the whole time. Too bad for you guys. I wasn't able to tell my boss that you guys were coming until we were here. I settled on leading you into this room. You're all such idiots to really think he survived an attack from the lambda driver head on. It's wonderful, to have this AS to examine when we kill you. We would like to know exactly why thesearm-slaves are so special. Too bad you have to die first."
Clouzot wanted help but was busy holding off two Raziels. The pilots of the M9's were doingwellatleast keeping the others at bay.
"Urzu 2 this is Urzu 1 did you get that?" He said grunting as he held up against the Raziel attack.
"We all did. We're heading to you guys we're not far." Mao spoke back as she fought with her own enemies.
"I can't help Urzu 9 and I'm not sure we can distract him before he shoots her." Clouzot was finally able to send the enemies away. They landed on the floor still prepared to fight.
The imposter's AS fired only to be stopped by a shield.
"So you used the lambda driver. So will I!" The imposter released his own light pushing against hers.
"How long will your will hold?" He asked menacingly as he pushed.
Clouzot was finally able to destroy one of the Raziels. His blade with the lambda driver slicing it in half. He was able to protect himself from the next attack of the other one but noticed the M9's were not fairing so well anymore. The enemy still had lambda driver.
Clouzot closed his eyes and focused. He sent the Raziel back once more. Sticking out his hand beams of light shots from his fingers each one piercing on of the Raptors or Javelins.
He turned to Urzu 9 who was still fighting against the imposter. The Raziel came at him his AS placed both hands by its side. Just as the Raziels lunged he shot them forward. A wave of light tore through the Raziel instantly. He turned to the imposter but the second he took a step he was intercepted by another Raziel. Landing it front of him it did not hesitate to attack with the lambda driver. Clouzot dodged and realized that this pilot was better than the last two.
"Urzu 2 where are you?" Clouzot said waiting for his enemy's next attack.
"We're having trouble we ran into some of theRaziels and these guys aren't pushovers." Mao shot a barrage of lambda driver bullets into one of them destroying it. Two more still stood for battle.
"Urzu 9 is still in trouble she…" He stopped when the imposters ARX blew up.
Lillian opened her eyes to see she was alive. "What just happened?"
Her AS looked around . Clouzot wondered what happened as well. He didn't see any extra force come from Urzu9's AS. He refocused on his enemy.
"Kurz what was that?" Mao asked him. His sniper was pointed at the wall. A large hole through it.
"That bastard pretended to be Spake. Spake died so I could get that shot off. So since this guy posed as him I decided to take him out." Kurz was breathing hard a serious expression on his face.
"So you shot through the wall. That's a good 300 yards without seeing."
"Well the lambda driver is what let me put it through the wall. The rest was just feeling."
Mao smiled. "You really are the greatest sniper I know."
"And don't you forget it! None of you!" Kurz called into the link his joking attitude restored.
"We still have two guys in front of us. You guys cover us while we take care of these two."
Mao aimed her gun and Kurz aimed his sniper. The Raziels rushed towards them. Mao fired but her bullets were ineffective against this pilot. She stepped forward the energy from both lambda drivers collided causing waves of light to appear. Kurz let the enemy get close before firing another bullet of light. The Raziel dodged and leapt towards him aiming its large spear at his cockpit. Kurz quickly grabbed his knife and stepping to the side dodged the spear and drove his knife into the enemy cockpit.
The enemy unit fell dead. He turned to help Mao but the second he lifted his gun the enemy AS flew into the wall and exploded.
"Come on let's hurry!" Was all she said before advancing through the tunnel. Kurz and the M9s followed her.

Kaname sat in her room anxiously. Leonard left which proved her suspicions. What was really getting to her was the alarms going off and the red lights. That meant there was a big problem. She hoped the problem had to do with a certain otaku. The alarm was driving her crazy though having been going off for about an hour now. She was curious as to what exactly was going on but decided not to get to anxious. She had been given her actual clothes back to her late last night. She was already wearing them. They would not be best for escape but she didn't care. She had become sick of wearing the uniforms that were annoying. She sat with her Bonta-kun waiting patiently for someone to come. To her surprise someone opened the door. She grew very worried when she saw who stood there.

Sousuke's unit with his help made its way deeper into the base faster then the others. They almost had their section of the floor done.He was finally ready to separate from the group. He gave them a quick notice before heading off. He didn't know exactly where he had to go. He ran a few yards before he found a stairwell. He entered and began making his way down. He jumped back when bulletsshot athim. He looked down to find a group of the Arastol type machines which they now knew wereArastols MKII which were indeed upgrades from Leonardsoriginal designsaiming at him. Luckily Mithril had upgraded it's weaponry meaning he would be able to destroy them with what he had. But it would be harder. The assault units had about ten men shooting so one man would be much harder. Sousuke watched as some of them jumped up towards him. He slapped something onto the first one and kicked it back down. He fired into the next one. The bomb he had planted on the first one exploded . He felt the vibrations and hung onto the rail. He only succeeded in taking out the one attached to the bomb. The others were still connected. He jumped off the edge as another one jumped up. He fire down and landed on it. He fell with the injured machine past the others. He looked up as he fell farther down. He heard the sound of the others jumping down after them. He reached his hand out and caught one of the railings. He grunted at the pressure on his arm. He looked down as the other one fell. When he looked up the others were still coming down. He pulled himself onto the stairs and continued running down. The machines soon followed suit using small jets too maneuver towards thestairs where they landed. Sousuke stopped when he found them in front of and behind him. He leapt off again just as they opened fire once more. He pulled acanister outand tossed it up. As he expected the enemy machines jumped after him again. He aimed and fired at the canister as they came near it. The small item exploded. Sousuke reached over and caught another railing. This time the force was too much and he had too release. The small swing effect tossed him onto the stairs belowthough. He held his shoulder; pain from grabbing rails while falling getting to him. He watched as debris fell down now. The grenade he used was experimental and destroyed metals and minerals as well as cause a lot of impact damage. It was two grenades one. The exploding onesealed in the other the chemical agent working first. He put his shoulder back into place before continuing his descent.
Sousuke stopped shortly after beginning again. He pulled out and spoke into his headset.
"Please make sure to rescue Kaname Chidori. I have another mission. If you can make sure Kurz, and Mao I wish to ask you this favor. Please make sure one of the rescue units get Chidori."
"Sure buddy but…" Kurz was cut-off by Sousuke.
"Hey Sousuke what are you doing?" Mao called over the link. She received no reply.
"Maybe he's going after whatever he wanted to get. Let's do him the favor we can always ask questions later. You know he'll have to answer."
Mao agreed. They looked about the room. They finally joined Urzu 1 and the rest. The large room that was full of enemies now only held destroyed machines and corpses. The Mithril pilots did not wait before heading into the next room .Most likely more enemies were heading their way.

"This was unexpected. We have everything prepared but if they stop us here it's all over." Schneider sat behind a desk in large room. From this room he could order the units. He had staff below in front of him also working. The battle was not going well for them. The Raziels were not fairing as good as they hoped and a lot of their AS had been moved out of the base already. If they had more news of their arrival they may have been prepared but the traitor in Mithril did not do much and was now dead. Plusthe single traitor in their base helped to cause a lot of trouble, the information they had received from him also gave them a false sense of security and confidence making them move too soon. Thetraitor was a trusted worker.He wasnow disposed of. Schneider pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Everyone we must fight to the very end. Instruct them as you see fit." Schneider rose from his seat.
"But master Schneider." One of the members turned to him. He simply waved her off before exiting the room. When he exited he pulled out a phone and pressed a button. After one ring someone answered.
"Are we ready?" He asked.
"Yes."
After receiving that single answer he walked down the hall. He would not let it end here. This was just the start.

Sousuke let instinct guide him as he made his way through a door instead of continuing further down. He passed through a series of rooms. He ignored people who were running around as the alarms went off. No one seemed to notice him either. He eventually reached a series of rooms that were empty. He continued to walk down, and throughthem. An eerie feeling began to possess him. He placed his hand on the handle of the sixth door he would pass through. He hesitated before opening the door a strange feeling surging through him. After a moment he opened the door. The room was already well lit. A man stood at the other end.
They recognized each other instantly.
"Hello Kashim."
"Gauron." Sousuke stared at him as he continued to smoke a cigar. Gauron looked at Sousuke as if he were sizing him up.
"Why did you come all the way here? I know it wasn't to see lil' ol' me." Gauron smiled after asking the question.
Sousuke glared at him. "Actually killing you is one of the reasons I'm here."
"Oh how sweet. What are the other reasons?" Gauron grinned.
Sousuke did not respond. Gauron grew upset at his silence.
"Well if you're here for Kaname-chan you're too late. The second I heard you were here I finished her off."
Gauron noticed Sousuke's glare become colder. He could see something he wanted to bring out.
"If you don't believe me, here." Gauron pulled the Bonta-kun from his bag. It was covered in blood when he tossed it. Sousuke examined it. The blood was fresh. He looked at Gauron the question whether it was true or not was in his eyes.
"Not good enough. I can show you footage of it. She screamed a lot." Gauron chuckled at Sousuke's building anger.
"I don't believe you…" He looked at Gauron with pure hate.
"Oh really. You want to see the movie right now. I call it the perfect kill. I made sure it was nice and special just for you." Gauron held up a remote. Sousuke looked at the small item than at him. "I'm going to press play please don't shoot me in the middle of things. Last time you shot before I could finish talking." Gauron pressed the remote a regular television behind him turned on. Gauron moved to the side to let him see. Sousuke watched as Gauron murdered on film so mercilessly, and sick that a normal person would not have been able to watch it. The man was not normally into such things. He must have gotten worse which just gave Sousuke more reason to kill him.
"That is not Chidori…" Sousuke looked at Gauron. He chuckled insanely then turned to Sousuke.
"You're right Kashim. That was me getting back into practice this video is months old. She is dead though. I haven't gotten the videos yet but you can find her in her prison room dead, or asleep whichever you want to call it."
Sousuke looked down at the Bonta-kun once more. He just realized why it had been missing from her room. He tossed it aside and once again locked gazes with Gauron.
"Well Kashim. What will you do now?" Gauron smiled. Sousuke brought up his gun and fired. He received the same results he got every time he fired a bullet at this man recently.
"You know that won't work Kashim. Use more natural stuff. You know it's actually been a while since I've seen you alone honey. Normally we're interrupted."
Hearing that name and his tone of voice sickened Sousuke. He fired again. Gauron noticed just in time to move.
"Oh I see. Trying to cheat. Well at least you're ready to play Kashim…" Gauron grinned. The look in Sousuke's eyes gave him joy to no end.
Gauron ran towards Sousuke. In a quarter of a second he was in front of him Sousuke's arm still pointing the gun to where he was. Gauron smiled, and Sousuke was sent back against the wall.
"You know that's a little weird. Using it on weapons, or bullets actually. I can't do that much. "
Sousuke prepared himself. He ran towards Gauron. He dodged the kick Gauron sent at him then went in for a punch but was blocked. When Gauron tried to attack again he was surprised when an invisible force hit him. Sousuke followed this up with a succession of other hits. He hit Gauron so hard his blood was spurting from his mouth.
"Wow Kashim you've gotten better." Sousuke moved slightly back as he blocked the wave Gauron had sent at him.
He quickly countered by firing from his TMP. Gauron jumped up and over him. Sousuke pulled out his knife and tried to stab him as he landed. Gauron kicked the knife and head butted Sousuke. Gauron pulled out his own gun and fired. Sousuke was just able to concentrate in time to repel the bullets. Gauron lunged towards him again. Sousuke stepped to the side and tripped Gauron. Using the momentum from his lunge he flipped the insane man in the air and dropped him on his front. He hit the ground with a very hard thump. Sousuke put his hands behind him and put a gun to his head.
"Where is it?" He asked Gauron.
"I told you she's dead." Gauron chuckled again. Blood was seeping form his head and mouth.
"Not her I want to know where the weapon is."
"Huh? I have no idea what your talking about?" Gauron answered amused and confused at the same time. Sousuke flexed his hand on gun. He didn't expect Gauron to have any information, but he had to try.
"Hey Kashim I raped Angel-chan."
Sousuke with one hand flipped him onto his back. He pressed the gun hard against his eye. "Repeat what you just told me!" Sousuke ordered him. His eyes were a crimson color instead of the usual grey.
"I said I had fun with your little girlfriend. She had a nice body and she's a screamer. Of course you wouldn't know would you…" Gauron chuckled . Sousuke pressed the gun deeper into his eye causing it to bleed.
"Are you going to kill me Kashim. Well go ahead I've died before. It really is not fair that I got a second chance."
Sousuke was breathing hard as he held the gun against his eye. The urge to pull the trigger was strong but his curiosity held him back.
"I'm not doing too well anyway. I only came back so you could kill me as a bad ass not the pussy from before. Oh yeah she was real soft. Her breasts are nice."
Sousuke had enough. He removed the gun and brought his fist up.
"Goodbye honey." He smiled.
"Son of a bitch!" He brought his fist down. In a single sickening motion he punched his face in. The sound of his bones cracking and his flesh squishing and being crushed was heard throughout the room. Sousuke repeated his action continuing to beat his already destroyed face. He finally stopped after the tenth punch. His brains were oozing out his ears and from where his face was opened and his teeth from his cracked skull were separated. His right eye was hanging off the side of his face. Even like this the man looked a if he was smiling. Sousuke punched him once more. He pulled his hand up to examine it. He broke his knuckles. Plus not only was his hand covered in blood it had spattered all over him as well. He rose from the dead body. This was pointless. It was obviously some wish of Gauron's to fight Sousuke to the death. It was a simple battle but it was what he wanted. Sousuke was just glad to be rid of him. Hopefully this time for good. He walked over to the Bonta-kun and picked it up. He was curious as to whose blood was on the doll. It could have been Chidori's but he doubted it with the way Gauron was lying at the moment. He picked up the doll and exited the room. Looks like he would have to get this back to her first. He decided he would get her to safety before finishing what he had to do. Sousuke walked through some more doors, and down more hallways. From the sound of it most of the fighting was done. He picked up his gun and continued his new priority being to find Kaname. He caught one of the frantic staff members. He easily gained the information he needed. The prison rooms were lower but not by much. Even then how did Gauron know to be on this floor. Sousuke headed towards an elevator. He clicked the button to the lower levels. He rested against the wall as he descended. When the door opened he reached a hallway; blue steel colored and with a lot of doors. He walked down it looking for Kaname by opening the doors. The prisoners began exiting once being told they were being rescued. He sent information on where the prison rooms were to the Danaan and the rescue and AS units. He opened a door and found what he was looking for. A girl with long beautiful blue hair sat in a familiar pink and white outfit. He watched as she slowly turned to look at him.
