The Whisperer

AN: I apologize for the late update…my internet was unfortunately down.
-Chapter 50-
"So what are you going to do?" Kurz asked in a completely serious voice. Sousuke stared at him with his emotionless expression. Many ideas passed through his head but one took precedent over others. He thought up every scenario and selected the best one. "I am going to fight. I cannot stay here." Kurz nodded then turned to continue making food. Sousuke headed for the living room. He turned on the TV to the news. It was exactly as he expected. People were talking about the recovery measures more than the actual event. They did not have exact count but woman, men, and children all had casualties. He sighed looking at the estimated count. Luckily it was kept to a minimum. The loss of civilians was not ever wanted but acceptable. Back then he did not like losing team members but it would not bother him as much as it seemed to now. He ran his hand through his hair looking back at his mistakes. If only I hadn't waited he thought as he looked at his hands. He had not washed away the blood yet, his face was most likely still smeared. He looked up when the channel suddenly changed. Before he could turn he felt something warm and wet on his face. He looked to the side to see Kaname wiping his cheeks with a small towel soaked in warm water.
"Chi…"
"Be quiet and let me finish."
Sousuke sat obediently as she continued cleaning him. He took the chance to turn when she brought the towel back and cleaned it in the bowl of water she had brought.
"Turn." He did as she ordered and turned so she could get the rest of his face. He was surprised by her. He knew she disliked blood and would be worried but she was cleaning his face with a slight smile. He couldn't help but stare at her while she wiped the blood. She noticed and quickly moved to clean the towel again color appearing on her cheeks. Sousuke turned his attention to the reddening water.
"Now don't move." Kaname said as she brought the towel higher. Kaname carefully began cleaning around his eyes. He sat patiently as she wiped in a curve under his eye. She placed the towel in the bowl and picked it up. "Stay here I'm going to refresh the water."
"Chidori I can clean myself."
She turned back to him. "If you had any sense to do that then you would have done that when you got here." Sousuke sat frozen from stupidity. What she said was exactly right. On the battlefield he never really had time to clean himself but when they were though they would. He wondered why he had not done so already. He stared back at the TV while she was away. She had changed the channel to something he did not recognize. She returned in only a few seconds. Turning back to her, she examined his face. Licking her thumb she removed one last little stain. Rolling up his sleeves she examined his arms.
"I thought so." He had tried to wipe the blood with his arms staining them as well. Dampening the towel she began cleaning them. He watched as her hands roamed across his with the towel.
Kaname felt his hands with hers. She could see the scars even those held. She placed the towel in the water to clean it. "What happened?"
He sat not answering. Kaname stopped and looked at him. "I already know what's wrong you might as well tell me what happened."
"Yes ma'am. I was over-exerting myself. It's not a problem." Suddenly he felt something warm and wet on his head. Looking up he noticed the towel sitting on his head.
"Bad boy." She said looking at him a bit worriedly. "You're so unfair and you always pick the worst time to say things. Just like before when the Tuatha de Danaan was hi-jacked." She closed her eyes and lowered her head. She felt tears coming but forced herself to hold them back. It did not seem like it but she understood today had consequences. She felt something warm close on her hand. Opening her eyes she saw he was holding her hand. When she looked at his face she could see emotion that was not usually in his empty eyes.
"As you said before I'm cruel. I apologize."
Kaname cupped his cheek. "Why can't you ever say anything sweet? You always miss perfect moments."
"I apologize." He said as he removed the towel that had begun dripping.
"No don't. You're not cruel Sousuke. You're just…clueless at times."
He nodded understanding what she meant. He had come to understand his deficiencies a long time ago.
She leaned forward resting her head against his. "I wish Kurz wasn't here."
"Affirmative."
She released a laughing breath at his answer. Sitting there silently she squeezed his hand tighter. "You're leaving right?"
"Affirmative."
"When?"
"As soon as possible."
"When is that?"
"Tomorrow maybe."
"I'm sorry."
"Why?"
"You always have to do this."
"It's not a problem."
She began to cry silently. She tried to move away but Sousuke pulled her closer. Kaname leaned forward and began to cry in his chest. Sousuke held her like he missed a long time ago after Hong Kong. It surprised him that he would remember that now but let it go. Calming down she pulled away.
"I'm sorry. I'm being too emotional."
"Negative your reaction is understandable."
She smiled at him then slowly moved forward. Sousuke blushed slightly as she closed her eyes still moving closer. She was almost there. He could feel her breath on him.
"Dinner's ready!" Kurz popped his head over. He blinked repeatedly taking in the scene.
"Did I interrupt something?" His answer was a remote thrown at his face. Kaname walked over and began pounding him saying things like 'jerk', 'messed it up again', and 'why'd you have to be here'.
Though unnoticeable Sousuke grinned slightly then turned back towards the TV. Suddenly the beating sounds stopped.
"Sousuke is my show on? It's a new episode."
"Negative commercials are still broadcasting."
The beating sounds continued again. Smelling it he wondered what was for dinner.
-
The rain accompanied them as they walked down the partially occupied streets. They could hear the sound of the water pound on the umbrella. Everywhere people were walking and going on with their business. If they weren't affected some people kept going on with their lives despite what happened. Some people were helping others or coming back from it. To everyone who even briefly noticed them they looked like a regular couple walking down the sidewalks. Holding hands the young man held the umbrella in his other. The mood was not happy but they didn't want it to be sad. They faced forward as they walked instead of letting their heads droop or their feet skid. This reminded them of a time before. This was the second time they were spending time together before he left in the same month. It was unfair to his girlfriend to leave so much but it was important. She could be comforted in the fact that he would never touch another woman, or even look at her with thoughts similar to when he looked at her not that, that was not much if she never saw him. Most of the people injured were already sent to hospitals. The work would be over soon and all that would be left was the rebuilding…again. They walked aimlessly, they had no destination but it would be nice to sit somewhere dry soon.
His thoughts were focused on what he could do. He wanted to make the girl next to him as happy as possible, but he had things he needed to do. Her thoughts focused on what would happen. She didn't know if he would be coming back. If he didn't she didn't want any regrets but had no idea what to do. She really wished he didn't have to go and wished she could do more. She hated how much responsibility he had. Sighing she tried to put her thoughts to rest. She had them before and thinking about it now would be pointless. She spotted a building that gave her an idea. She looked at him wondering if it was a good one. She squeezed his hand tighter for a little reassurance. Noticing he looked towards her.
"Is something wrong Chidori?"
"No nothing but…Would you like to go somewhere with me?"
"If that is what you want."
What I want. She thought as looked at him. Altering her gaze she looked back at the building. "How about there?" She pointed to a building across the street. He wondered why her face was so red. Turning around his face shifted to a color almost as deep.
"Uh Chidori?" he turned back to her his face still red his eyes questioning. She stared back at him a look he had only seen in her eye a few times before.
"But…"
"I don't care."
"Are you sure?"
"No."
"Then."
"I don't know."
"So then…"
"I don't know! Stop making this so hard. You should have a say in this too. We don't have to if you don't want to you shouldn't make me decide everything. You, who likes taking charge in dangerous situations, is making it hard for his girlfriend because he's too scared to decide for himself."
He was taken aback. He didn't say anything as she raised her head to look at him. Her face was flustered in mixed emotions. His expression softened.
"I'm sorry. You are right. I have been careless in our relationship."
"That's right!"
"But…"
"But what?"
"I'm not sure."
"Oh."
She looked away somewhat embarrassed for mentioning it. She regretted it feeling a pain inside her heart. Sousuke felt a different kind of pain in his heart when he saw Kaname's expression. He regretted hurting her. Even after all that his answer was cowardly. He stepped forward wrapping his arms around her while still holding the umbrella.
Kaname did not move as he did this unaffected by his attention.
"I'm sorry. You are right as usual. I should be able to do more things or at least answer more properly. Part of me wants to but I'm not sure. I looked up information and I found that it is more difficult for women. The bond and sacrifice is greater for them as well. Some women wish to save 'it' for the man they will spend their entire lives with and…"
"You don't think I want to be with you that long?"
"That's not it."
"You think you'll die."
"Affirmative. I do not want to ruin that while knowing such a high risk. Especially since currently it seem inevitable."
"Well then did you know not every woman is so lucky? Some are happy just to give 'it' to the man the love the first time. Even if they can't see them again."
"…"
"Think of it this way. How would you feel if you never came back to me?"
"Horrible."
"Now think about it and pretend you never told me how you feel."
He thought about it and felt a different pain somewhat understanding what she meant.
"I believe I would hate that. Perhaps regret it forever."
"So you understand?"
"Somewhat. There are differences between words and actions but the situations can be similar."
"Do you think I can love someone else?"
"Affirmative."
"Can you?"
"Negative."
"Why not?"
"No one else has or can save me the way you did."
"I can't truly love someone else either baka. The experience goes both ways."
They both stood there silently. Each thinking and comprehending what they had just spoken about trying to understand it completely.
"Well?" Kaname said still in his arms.
"Well what?"
"You haven't given me a straight answer."
Sousuke thought a moment. "I really wish Kurz was not occupying my apartment."
Kaname laughed lowly and turned around pulling Sousuke into her own embrace.
"Well you blew up my place if you hadn't done that we could have gone there." She got out while still laughing. When she calmed down she stared at him. His free hand traced her body up to her cheek. "I'm still not sure Chidori." Thwapp! The harisen came down hard. Rubbing his head Sousuke looked at her. "That hurts."
"Good. Stop using my surname jerk. Why do you always have to ruin good moments? Hmmph!" Kaname began to stalk off. Sousuke stayed on one knee staring at the floor as the rain began to dance on him. As quick as he felt it the rain stopped. Looking up he saw a curtain of blue hair and her thoughtful face.
"Hey mister you shouldn't be on the floor in the rain. The sidewalk is probably dirty." Kaname looked as innocent as she could at the downed young man. He stared back with no response.
"What's the matter you don't know how to talk?" She poked him in the forehead then smiled. "We should get you dried off."
"A dry location is not very close by. Unless…" Sousuke looked towards the building she had singled out before. Standing up he took her hand. Despite the cold rain he was warm as he led her across the street. Kaname was a bit surprised and both their faces showed their embarrassment. Walking in, he looked around cautious of places like this.
"Calm down I've been here before." Kaname said as she walked in and began looking at rooms. "What?" He looked at her in complete shock.
"Yeah when you left for Hong Kong I was lonely and you know I met some guy and we came here."
"Uh-Chi-Chidori. Are you saying… after what we said outside you had…"
She selected a room. Turning around she laughed at his expression. His face was white and completely shocked. She had to force back her laugh.
"Calm down Sousuke I wasn't serious."
Sousuke let out his breath relieved. "Though I did come here with a guy because you left." Sousuke went blank.
"Jeez it was to get away from that assassin. I was lucky I brought the stun gun you gave me or what I just said wouldn't have been a joke."
Sousuke's expression worsened. The thought of then always bothered him. The story made it worse. Leonard took a kiss but that man could have taken more.
"It's okay Sousuke I'm fine. I'm stronger for it. You're stronger for it. You ruined a good moment then too though. Of course so did I."
Sousuke looked at her still somewhat bothered. She walked over and poked his nose. "Come on. It's not a problem nothing happened. Now let's go inside."
Sousuke nodded then placed money into the machine and received the key. She took his hand and pulled him along this time her face was warm. When they reached the room she unlocked it. Going in Sousuke locked the door and examined the room. It was large for two but not huge. The walls were a pink color. The bed had a crimson quilt made of expensive material on it. A dresser was on each end. There was a TV, and mini fridge along with everything else these rooms normally had.
"Chidori this place could have cameras."
She stood stiff. She didn't think of that. Not the first time either.
"Luckily I have this." Sousuke pulled out a small device for detecting such objects. Kaname tried to hide herself as he did his search. It was half an hour before he was done.
"After a thorough investigation I believe there is no hidden electronics of audio or visual purpose in this room."
Kaname sighed and stood up. "Good then I can take a shower."
"I will keep watch."
"You're going to watch…wouldn't you rather join me?"
"Uh."
Kaname giggled. Teasing him was always so much fun. "I'm kidding I'll shower first."
"Roger."
Sousuke continued examining the room while she was showering. He searched everywhere for anything he could find. The room did not seem suspicious. After searching under the bed for the third time he heard the bathroom door open. He turned to find Kaname in nothing but a bath robe. "Your turn." She said in a timid voice. Sousuke nodded then headed for the bathroom. Kaname looked around the room as he showered. It was much nicer then the one from before but not much more expensive. She was not the kind of person to want to spend a man's money.
When he came out she was sitting on the bed. Sousuke came out in nothing but a bath robe. He was completely uncomfortable with the situation. His weapons were stored in a bag his clothes folded neatly he placed them in a dresser. Kaname had done the same for hers so they would have that easy. After that he sat across from her.
"Sousuke…" She said in an annoyed tone. Without a word he stood up and sat next to her. "Despite previous circumstances this is still strange territory."
"Yeah." She giggled worriedly. They sat there for minutes none moving or saying anything.
Oh come on this is going to kill me. Kaname thought as she tried to bring up her courage. She clenched her fist worried at what to do. 'Fine that's it!' She thought as she summoned up her courage. She went to move but was stopped. She was surprised to find his lips on hers. A second later she closed her eyes and welcomed his kiss. Him gaining a little more courage she could feel his tongue prodding her lips which she immediately gave entrance. She began making pleasant noises in the back of her throat. He held her and slowly lowered her onto the bed not once breaking their mouths embrace. She made an annoyed noise when his mouth fled from hers. She didn't say anything though as his fingers traced her lips. Staring at her for a few seconds he moved down again. Kaname wrapped her arms around him and met him half-way. One hand on her the other holding them up they kissed each other passionately. Kaname felt her mind blanking. The euphoria was probably getting to her. Suddenly she pulled away. She stared at him blankly a few moments.
"Kaname?"
"Hmm…?" She brought her arms up and slid them over his neck. Suddenly her hands clasped his neck and she was choking him. "Chi…do...ri?"
Her eyes looked shocked as she continued to squeeze. Sousuke easily removed her hands and jumped back from the bed. "Chidori what are you doing?"
"I don't know something's…" She held her head as she walked dizzily. "How about a drink?" She went to the mini fridge and pulled out a bottle of wine. "This ones excellent."
Sousuke stared at her still confused. Suddenly she slammed it against the wall shattering it she held the end. Sousuke was once again taken by surprise as she lunged at him. He was able to hold her off easily but she began kicking him.
"You bastard! How dare you!" Bringing the broken glass closer Sousuke was starting to realize how strong she was. Placing his foot under her he flipped her onto the bed. He quickly stood up and took a defensive position.
"What's the matter don't want to play anymore?" She turned and attacked him again. Dodging and moving around Sousuke avoided her as best he could. When he moved he noticed she was about to step into the pile of shattered glass. He moved.
"Sousuke no!" She cried out as he moved to keep her from seriously cutting her foot. Saving her, he had the broken bottle stab into his back. Suddenly she smiled and brought the weapon up for another attack. Sousuke pushed her away and stepped away from the broken glass on the floor. Kaname leapt clear across the bed and at him still holding the sharp weapon. He grabbed her and held the weapon the weapon away. She kicked his groin causing him to fall back onto the bed pulling her with him. He still held away her attack as he bled into the quilts. Looking up he could see her crying.
"How dare you touch her?" Her voice sounded different as she shouted. 'Touch her' confused him as well. "Get out! Leave him alone!" Kaname shouted, her force against him loosening. She got off him and held her head as she stood up.
"Leave me alone!" She cried out. Sousuke moved closer confused by what was going on.
"Chidori are you alright!"
Without any response she punched him. Not doing much damage she picked up the broken glass again. Leaping at him Sousuke grabbed her wrist and forced the weapon away tossing her onto the bed. Looking at her he could see a different look in her eyes. As if she wasn't the one in her body. "I don't feel good. Let me go to the bathroom."
"Do you need help Chidori?" He asked releasing her.
"No I'm fine."
Kaname walked shakily towards the bathroom. Sighing Sousuke let her go in by herself. He reached his hand behind his back. Luckily the stab was closer to his right shoulder. The blood had stained most of the back of the robe and was thick enough to leave a thick red drip on his finger despite the robe absorbing his blood. He heard a sound he recognized. Instinctively he rolled back dropping behind the bed just a as bullet pierced the door of the bathroom. It was a mistake to leave my weapons in there but what is wrong with her? He thought as he remained ducked.
"Sagara are you dead?" She kicked opened the door pointing the gun. Sousuke remained hidden. He noticed his vision blurring.
"Not good. Blood loss is becoming critical." Suddenly a bullet whizzed by his head.
"Found you!" She moved around the bed pointing and firing. Sousuke rolled under and stopped at the middle. His opponent waited for him to appear. In an instant a belt wrapped around her ankle and pulled her to the floor. Still holding the gun she aimed below her but he was already upon her. She fired erratically into the roof.
"Get off!"
"What is wrong Chidori?" He shouted as he held her down with more force. He had a strange feeling like when Tessa and Kaname resonated in front of him. He held her down easily; despite her strength in the long run she could not defeat him. Kicking him in the groin again she forced him off. Sousuke was starting to know how Kurz felt. Rising to one knee she aimed the gun. Tears began to pour from her eyes. "No!" Her arms moved making the bullet go elsewhere. Suddenly there was a loud noise and her face felt warm and stung. When she opened her eyes Sousuke was in front of her. He had made a large red mark on her skin with the slap. She stared up at him beginning to cry. Suddenly she felt the strange feeling again.
-"I'm coming."
"Leave me alone."
-"Do you really enjoy this?"
"With him yes!"
-"Are you just trying to hurt me?"
"No but I hope I did!"
-"…Well he shouldn't have touched you. You're mine."
"No I'm not. No one owns me."
-"If he said that?"
"It would be okay"
-"Really?"
"Yes."
-"Kill him."
"No!"
-"Do it!"
"NO!"
Kaname stood up clenching her head. "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" She shouted as loud as she could. Sousuke crouched watching her. Finally she calmed down falling to her knees her head resting on the bed. Sousuke's vision was blurring further and he was losing consciousness. He began crawling towards Kaname. "Chi…dori. Are you alright?"
She slowly raised her head. Slowly turning he could see the tears on her face.
"I'm sorry Sousuke." Sorrow, pain, regret, fear all filled her eyes. She went over to him checking his back.
"I'm sorry please…"
"It's not a problem. Help me get to the bathroom."
--
"I…what the…" The silver-haired young man breathed deeply. He was on his knees holding himself up with his hands. "How did she?"
He could feel a warm trickle coming from his ear.
"You're bleeding." Schneider said pointing it out. "You should see a nurse."
Leonard grabbed a table to help himself up. "No thank you. I just need to rest. That was quite a surprise."
"I'll send a nurse to your quarters anyway. Bleeding from the ear can mean damage to the brain." Schneider called as Leonard walked off. Looking down the man stared at the small pool of blood on the floor grinning.
--
Sousuke sat in the shower uncomfortably as Kaname cleaned and bandaged his back. The wound was not serious but all his moving around made it worse than it was. The room and bathroom had a blood trail going across it. The tub had a large red swirl for awhile.
"You feeling better?" She asked still tending to his wound.
"Slightly. Glass does a considerable amount of damage especially like that."
"I'm sorry."
"No need to apologize it was not your fault."
"Yes it was. If I could have controlled myself sooner. I almost killed you."
"But you did not. I forgi…" He released a painful breath as she applied a sterilizing liquid to clean the wound. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"Affirmative. As for what happened I thought that had to be voluntary."
"I don't know but he forced himself to control me. Which was very awkward considering the situation. I can't believe he made me do that. I really almost. You should have tried harder to stop me."
"I was unsure of what was happening. I do not wish to hurt you."
"Even if I almost kill you?"
"Rog- itai!" Kaname applied hard pressure to his wound. Sitting quietly she continued to clean his back.
"Shouldn't you go to a hospital?"
"Negative I will be fine. We cannot stay though I'm sure someone will be here soon."
"Probably. Looks like another night was ruined."
"Affirmative. We will need to clean up."
"Of course."
She began wrapping bandages around his upper body to secure the protective materials around the wound. It took another five minutes to finish taking care of him. After that they set about to cleaning the room as best they could. As embarrassing as it was they sent away anyone curious with an explanation that the noise was foreplay. Their faces were red the whole time cleaning. Another hour later they were finished. Placing something on the bed they walked out fully dressed and equipped, the blood covered clothes and quilts were in trash bags for them to remove.
"So what'd you leave on the bed."
"A way to fully dispose of any evidence. No one will be able to get in the room so it is safe."
"What did…?" Before she could finish her question a loud explosion came from the building. Quickly thinking she grabbed his hand and ran off screaming multiple names at him.
--
Sitting on the train Kaname rested her head on him. At first she had not agreed to because of his wound but he assured her he was fine. Her ordeal earlier that night had taken quite a bit of energy out of her. She agreed to rest on his shoulder but she decided if anyone was helping anyone get home she was helping him. Exiting the train Sousuke leaned on her as she helped him walk. The wound was not so bad but the blood loss was significant.
"Sure you don't want to call a taxi?" She asked as she carried him along.
"Negative. The apartment is not far." Sousuke looked forward his vision still somewhat affected.
"I'm sorry…" She looked forward sadly as they continued. Sousuke took a deep breath and readjusted himself.
"It is not your fault there is no reason to apologize."
"You're right but. I can't believe he would do that. I'm never going to let that happen again."
"Yes with the circumstances that would have been awkward."
Kaname blushed realizing what he meant. Sousuke still looked forward tiredly.
"He ruined everything. Maybe we should have just finished it the first time."
"…"
A little color came to his cheeks but he gave no response.
Like he had said it did not take them long to reach his apartment. Kurz was curious about what happened when they walked in. They had decided to leave it as he got hurt any further explanation would have resulted in terrible teasing and a lot of rumors aboard the Tuatha de Danaan even if Sousuke wasn't working there that much, the old members would have a ball hearing it. Mao might actually throw a party. Of course Tessa would not have responded so well. Walking over Kaname released Sousuke so he could sit down.
"So you guys aren't going to tell me exactly what happened?" Kurz asked taking his back his seat on the couch.
"Nothing happened. Sousuke got a little out of hand and hurt himself." Kaname said as she walked into the kitchen.
"Really Sousuke got a little out of hand. Jeez Sousuke who would have thought you'd be such a stud. Of course hurting yourself takes away a few points." Kurz laughed as he drank his soda. Sousuke seemed to still have enough blood to go to his face. When they each heard a stomp Kurz stood up. Moving back he kept his eyes on the kitchen.
"Now, now. Calm down it was just a joke." He said his voice shaking slightly. He ducked when a bowl came flying towards him dodging it easily. Looking at it the material was soft. "Plastic?" he was taken by surprise when a glass plate was thrown like a disc into the back of his skull. Holding his head he crouched in pain.
"Jeez Kaname you can be so mean."
"Sousuke's hurt so I need someone to vent on."
Kurz laughed despite the pain. Sousuke watched the scene boringly.
"Hey Sousuke since Kaname seems to be upset why don't we go out and hit a few bars, meet some girls have a party. Maybe you'll get lucky there."
"Negati…"
"No way! Especially not since he's hurt. If I find out he went out to do any such thing he would regret it. You on the other hand wouldn't live to regret it."
Kurz began to laugh but he felt an ominous force behind him. Looking up he jumped back at Kaname's fearsome glare. He could practically see the horns popping out of her head. None of them were even ready for bed for another hour. It was midnight when Sousuke went to his bed. When he had tried to sleep under it Kaname stopped him sitting by the bed until he fell asleep. For the first half-hour he was complaining with how uncomfortable it was and that she could go but he eventually gave up. Kurz had left after a phone call, having some business to take care of for Mithril. Kaname sat alone on the couch watching television. Suddenly she heard a noise come from Sousuke's room. She stood up walking cautiously to his room. Opening the door as quietly as she could she peeked in. She could not see perfectly but she could make out Sousuke moving uncomfortably on the bed. That was hard considering even then he did not move much having trained himself to stay as quiet as possible even when asleep. Wondering if he was in pain or having a nightmare she stepped in. Quietly she made her way over to the bed. Looking down his expression looked displeased.
'I guess he has nightmares too.' She thought as she looked upon him. Reaching her hand out, she shook him slightly.
"Hey Sousuke, you ok?" She asked in a low voice. Suddenly he stopped moving then in an instant she was on the bed under him a gun pressed against her temple. She stared up at him in horror. His eyes were empty and void of any emotions. They remained like that for seconds before she could say anything. Finally the gun was moved away from her head. The look in his eyes had not changed.
"Sousuke." She hardly said. It was hard to speak her voice betraying her. She felt a little relief when he finally blinked. The gun was dropped to the floor.
"Chidori I'm sorry." He said staring at her through the darkness.
"What happened?" She spoke easily this time. Despite the loss of tension she did not move out from under him.
"I believe I was having a nightmare."
"Do you remember what it was about?"
"It's not important."
Kaname reached a hand up to caress his cheek. "Come on tell me. You'll feel better."
Sousuke looked at her sadly. "I do not believe that would be true."
"Is it that bad?"
"Affirmative."
"Then it will help to tell me."
"It has to do with an actual event."
"What? Tell me please."
Sousuke stayed elevated just staring at her. Kaname placed her hand on his side and moved him over. "Come on get comfortable so you can tell me."
"I would rather not tell you." As he said this he moved to lie down.
"Please." Kaname pouted. Sousuke gave her an annoyed stare. Kaname grabbed a pillow and hit him over his head with it. Holding it down she began to suffocate him.
"Tell me now!"
"Nehguhtivv." His words were muffled by the pillow. Kaname did not let up. Remembering an effective method to remove her he brought his hands up and began tickling her. Moving about frantically and laughing she fell to his side. Catching her breath she looked at him. "Tell me."
Resigning to his fate Sousuke sighed. "Months ago while searching for you, you know I ran into Schneider. Things did not go so well for me from there. Before I escaped I was used on a test. Going to Helmajistan we went to a large village that was not known to many others. I do not remember much and since this was a dream I do not know how accurate it is. While there they used me to test a special bomb. I do not understand the details from there but I killed over 1000 people in an instant. Most of them innocent. Among them a large group of infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors were killed suddenly for no reason. It was my fault. It does not bother me so much but unintentionally dreaming about it seems to bother me. I apologize if I disturbed you."
"No it's okay I was getting bored."
"You do not seem shocked or offended."
"I am surprised but I think I heard about it before. Besides you said it wasn't your fault. To be honest it bothers me a lot but what's done is done." Kaname caressed his cheek again. Sousuke held her hand.
"I'm alright now Chidori."
"Are you sure?"
"Affirmative."
"Ok good night then." Kaname smiled then softly pressed her lips against his before turning around and pulling the covers over herself. Sousuke looked at her somewhat confused.
"Chidori?"
"Ka-na-me. You're a slow learner you know. And as for this I'm tired. You said you were done so I'm going to sleep."
"Understood but…"
"Goodnight then." Kaname lay comfortably on the bed while Sousuke remained on his side. After a few minutes she became annoyed.
"Sousuke."
She received no response. "Jerk." She said lowly. Turning back over she grumped slightly as she tried to fall asleep. Suddenly she felt an arm wrap around her.
"Goodnight." Hearing him she smiled. She grabbed his hand and held it as they let the darkness of the room hopefully bring peaceful sleep.
