Kairi walks into the school to find everyone by the nurse's office, even the staff trying to look in the window, for what she isn't sure. But it's none of her business. Her business is surviving in the school as well as at home.

Carlisle Cullen was throwing the dirty needs that labels for sinful bastard. What kind of school was this? As far as he is aware, that this is not a bible school. He gave each child a shot while talking to them gentle, even the boy with the monkey tail which he comment on.
Than when he turns to the last child...he couldn't believe it.
Kairi, his goddaughter. He thought she had been killed after her mother's death so he smiles.

Kairi just flinch from him in a violent way as if she was expecting someone to hit her.
"Okay, you need to take your jacket off, Kai." He said to her but she shakes her head tears in her eyes.
"Kairi, sooner you have it, the sooner it'll be over." Said Carlisle.
But she just shakes her head as her body starts to shake with fear. Why won't she look to him?
"Kairi, look at me." Said Carlisle gentle but firmly.
Her body stiffens and he could smell her blood cold with fear but she slowly looks to him with big fearful blue eyes. Then he gasps as he saw her face.
Kairi's face has bruises and cuts all over her face, even her right eye seems to be healing from having a black eye.
He kneels down and take both of her hands in his cold hands.
"Kairi Cassie Hikaru, what has happened to you? I should take you to the hospital so I can look over you." Said Carlslie.
Her eyes widens even more with uncontrolled fear. What was she frighten of? Not even as a baby did Kairi fear needles or the hospital. So...why is she like this now?
"Kai...Is someone hurting you? OR are you being abused by someone?" he asked her.
She shakes her head. "Kairi, talk to me and I can help you." He told her.
"no one can help me, not John and not you. No one can." Said Kairi tearing up.
"That is not true, are you being abuse? I need to know and that person can be punish for hurting you." Said Carlisle.
She tighten her mouth shut so she won't tell him.
"All right, just let me do this shot. It'll be quick, I promise." Said Carlisle.
He watch as Kairi slips out of her coat and school jumper. He rolls her sleeve up then looks to her wrist to see rope marks and bruises covering her thin wrist. What in the actual hell?
"Kairi...did someone tie you up?" He asked her. If his undead heart could beat, it would be beating a lot faster than a normal human's should be.
She shakes her head. There was no way little Kai was going to tell him, not when she is so frighten of whoever had hurt her.
Then he looks to her arms to that they were also thin and covered with bruises, cuts and now? Burns.
But he didn't ask because he knows that Kairi is too frighten of her abuser. If he could take her away from this? She will be needing years of therapy.
He pushes the clean needle into her arm and puts the medicine into her.
"There you go. All done. That wasn't too bad, was it?" Carlisle asked her.
She shrugs, looking lifeless and broken. She is five years old. Kairi shouldn't be broken like this and defiantly not in this kind of state.
"Can...I go now? I don't want to be late for class, Dr Cullen." She said in a lifeless tone.
His heart broke into pieces by the tone she used. She never used to call him by name, it would always be daddy until he corrected her to call him Uncle Carlisle.
"Ok, sweetie. I'll come around lunch time to check on you. Have a good day." He said to her as he helps her with her school jumper and coat back on.
"Ok, but you shouldn't bother. You don't need to be burden with me." Said Kairi as she left.
What has happen to the sweet and innocent little girl that he once knew? How has she became like this over a year? Well...he will find out so he can save her without turning her before it is too late.
