Chapter 16

The Demon Seed

~Maxine's POV~

It had been about two weeks since the whole monkey invasion. Things had settled down at the temple meaning me and the others could get back to more important things. Like relaxing with a good game of chess but not the ordinary chess and I'm not talking about that two-dimensional chess either. I'm talking about these giant sized chess pieces that are shaped like dragons and you have to use Shen Gong Wu to move them on the board. I was watching my friends play while I was working on a new invention. I feel I've been slagging lately due to the unexpected chaos happening. Now that we've got a chance to breathe I can get back to my favorite past time.

Tinkering with building a new gadget. I'm thinking about going in a new direction and building something that could enhance my new powers. Something simple that can be worn as an everyday thing like my hover sneakers or my helipack to name a few. I'm still working on the blueprints but once I settle on an idea I'll start work on it immediately. While planning the blueprints I watched my friend go head-to-head against each other in their chess game. It was Omi and Kimiko verses Clay and Raimundo. Each team used a different Shen Gong Wu to move a chess piece on the board until Omi got carried away and started playing for both teams. Sometimes that boy doesn't realize what he's doing when he's doing it.

I swear I don't know what we're gonna do with that boy. With Omi having claimed victory Master Fung called us to the greenhouse to learn the importance of taking care of flowers. Master Fung showed great balance when it came to watering the orchids around him. Not that Rai was interested. In fact, he was trying to stay awake just from listening to Master Fung. Omi seemed hyped over his orchid but that moment was cut short when Clay showed how his orchid had an extra leaf.

"No, this cannot be. Grow faster orchid, faster!" Omi told his plant.

"Remember, a warrior must first learn to control his patience before he can control himself." Said Master Fung.

"I bet he writes these things on the palm of his hand." Rai whispered to Kimiko and I causing the two of us to snicker in silence.

"No Raimundo I write them inside my eyelids. That is why I blink so often." Master Fung replied.

Dojo popped out of Rai's shirt poking his chest while spelling out busted. Oh the irony. Master Fung decided that if tending to the flowers wasn't much of a challenge for us then perhaps we would find this task he was about to show us to fit our expectations. Pushing a button on top of a buddha statue a secret passage was revealed under the floor. Master Fung lead us down the staircase. Carrying a torch in hand to light our way.

It was like a whole different world down here. Like I've stepped in the pages of a book where I am exploring an underground labyrinth or a temple in a forbidden jungle. Who knew this area existed right under our feet.

"Master Fung, how long has this been down here under the temple grounds?" I asked.

"For over fifteen hundred years, monks just like you have been guarding the contents of this vault. It is now time for you to assume the task." He replied standing before us once we reached a wall with flowers on it.

"Believe me you couldn't ask for a greater honor." Said Dojo. "Your all growing us so fast. (crying) I never thought I'd see the day. (blows his nose)" Such a sentimental dragon.

Master Fung stood on this small platform shaped like a pot. Moving at a slow elegant pace as he poured water into each flower. Using his hands and right foot, the master activated a secret door revealing what looked like a demon in front of us. Luckily, it was a statue of a dragon but it sure got my heart racing and adrenaline pumping. Master Fung used the torch to bring fire in the dragon's mouth activating the statue to move upward. There was a secret compartment that housed a large chest inside. Whatever was inside of it must be important if its locked down here.

"Behold, the Heylin seed." Said Master Fung holding the open lid chest revealing to us...a teeny tiny seed that was barely visible in the left corner.

"Its just a little seed." Said Kimiko.

"Looks like something that fell off my triple double cheeseburger." Said Clay.

"Tending orchids sounds more exciting." Said Rai.

Master Fung closed the chest; telling us how dangerous the seed is and how it must never come in contact with dirt, sunlight or water. In other words, we keep it locked up in the box as Rai put it. Dojo told us that the only time the seeds powers were ever awaken was fifteen hundred years ago when it nearly destroyed all life on the planet. Once the seed was reverted back to its original form this underground vault was built to ensure no one of finding and awakening the seed again. Then Dojo went into freak mode till Master Fung took him away. We all examined the chest when the pair left. It was hard to imagine one little seed causing so much chaos on the planet yet somehow it did.

~Normal POV/Jack's House~

Jack was down in his lab looking at an old picture of him and Wuya. While Jack looked cheerful in the photo Wuya had a look of annoyance on her face. Clearly she wasn't into having her photo taken as Jack was. Holding the picture in his hands Jack was thinking back about the old memories he shared with Wuya. They had their differences but Jack always felt a kind of connection between the two of them. Now that Wuya had gone too Chase Young, Jack was feeling lonely. Not that he would admit it out loud but he was lonely deep down.

Again he won't admit to his feelings. Besides, why would he need Wuya when he made himself a something better. His latest creation was this Wuya-bot that was ten times better than the original. Not to mention this bot gave Jack compliments and didn't criticize him. While enjoying a moment with his Wuya-bot, Jack felt a hand on his shoulder scarring him into the bots arms. Her robotic voice comfort Jack who felt relaxed seconds later. Feeling safe in the arms of his robotic creation. The voice was revealed to belong to Vlad. Another villain who once worked for Jack during 'The Crystal Glasses' episode.

"Vlad?! How'd you get in here?" Asked Jack.

"What kind of villain would I be if I not sneak in and out of places?" He replied elbowing Jack backwards straight for a wall with his robot.

"What are you doing here?" Asked Jack stopping his Wuya-bot from attacking Vlad.

"i hear Wuya dumped you, again." Said Vlad.

"Nobody dump me! I dump Wuya!" Jack complained brushing dust off of his jacket.

"That is not what they are saying on internet." Said Vlad holding a laptop computer with a chat room opened.

"I'm on the internet?" Asked Jack rushing over wide eyed looking at the chats.

Vlad explained to Jack that he was a laughingstock on the internet and the latest thing to say whenever someone looses everything is 'I got Jacked'. As much as Vlad was having fun gloating Jack wanted to know why he came to his house in the first place. Vlad told Jack about the Heylin Seed and the tremendous power it held compared to Shen Gong Wu. Vlad suggested a team up. If the pair could steal the seed from the monk they could rule the world and then maybe create a reality television show. They'd be famous.

Thinking about it Jack was drawn in to the plan. Followed by a hard back slap causing him to fall on a table but there were no hard feelings. He, Vlad and Wuya-bot all shared an evil laugh together. World domination would soon be theirs.

~On a Beach Somewhere~

The monks were taking it easy on a nice sandy beach with the box in tow that carried the Heylin seed within it. Keeping the box safely under an umbrella should the box accidentally open and the seed within the box be exposed to sunlight. Everyone was taking it easy but Clay was curious about something.

"You sure Master Fung said it was alright to take the Heylin Seed out of the vault?"

"Don't sweat it guys, its under control." Rai replied tossing a frisbee to Omi who caught it in her mouth like a dog.

"You mean it is out here without his permission?!" Said Omi.

"He'll never know and besides how hard can it be to guard a box?" Said Rai.

"I don't know Rai, guarding a box may sound easy but anything could happen if we're not careful." Maxine told him. "Maybe we better go back to the temple."

"Come on Maxine livea little. Nothing's going to happen trust me." Said Rai.

Unbeknownst to the monks, Jack, Vlad and Wuya-bot were traveling underground with the use of the Mole-In-Ator. They were going to use the element of surprise to retrieve the Heylin Seed right from under the monks noses. Which is exactly what they did. The box containing the seed sunk down through the ground when the monks weren't looking.

Rai was the first to notice the box missing followed by everyone else. Discovering the sink hole Omi and Clay went down to find the large dug up crater tunnel Jack's vehicle made; and to find him making a clean getaway. Clay started running after Jack, yelling about the hot dogs he made being taken while Omi said...

"It appears we have just been Jacked."

~Jack's House~

Jack and Vlad returned to Jack's house with the box in hand. Opening said box they discovered the tiny itty bitty Heylin Seed within. Needless to say the boys weren't impressed with what they were seeing. So they did the only thing they could do, toss the seed away without a second thought. The seed went flying through the air landing on a fountain. It spun towards the edge where the water was only to turn around falling down to the ground.

Just then, the water from the fountain was moving around and a drop of water fell to the ground. Landing directly on the Heylin seed. It only took seconds for the seed to release its roots which covered Jack's house.

"Is it me or is something different about my house?" He asked taking notice of a large vase shaking before a long bright French talking plant popped out.

"Bonjour!"

Jack freaked out jumping on Vlad holding his face as both boys looked at the plant who laughed and smiled.

"Looks like we got right seed after all." Said Vlad removing Jack from his back.

The plant was very lively and grateful to Jack and Vlad for awakening him. In return the plant wanted to work for Jack. Calling him Master while Jack called him Gigi. Oh how Gigi was more than happy to obey Jack and steal the Shen Gong Wu from the temple. Pleasing Jack in more ways then one.

~Back at the Temple~

Rai got an earful from Master Fung after learning what happened to the box.

"Only time will tell how your error and judgement have impacted us all."

"If I crawled into a hole Ii couldn't feel any lower." Said Rai who was disappointed in himself too.

Dojo appeared crawling down some steps only to stop. Claiming he wasn't feeling well as his stomach expanded making this odd popping popcorn sound. Which Kimiko pointed out a making one hungry and sick at the same time when hearing that sound.

"I haven't felt like this since the last time the Heylin Seed was unleashed." Dojo claimed having a sudden epiphany. "THE HEYLIIN SEEDS BEEN UNLEASHED!" He cried burping out a noxious gas fume from his mouth.

"Are you sure?" Asked Kimiko.

"I'm sure." Said Dojo after putting himself together.

"The Moonstone Locust must reveal itself soon; or we are as Clay might say in a heap of hurt." Said Master Fung stroking his beard.

"Moonstone Locust, what kind of Wu is that?" Maxine asked.

"It is the only Shen Gong Wu that can stop the Heylin Seed." Master Fung replied.

"Apprentices do not fear plants." Said Omi.

"You shall fear this one." Master Fung told him. "We must protect the Shen Gong Wu."

Suddenly, there came a loud quaking sound from the vault revealing upon the rooftop roots that were expanding downward over the vault; and who would appear but the wicked Heylin seed now plant, Gigi.

"Hello!" He cried laughing, banging his head like a drum with his roots.

Master Fung leaped forward to attack Gigi only to get caught in his roots.

"That no good thieving plants going after our Wu!" Clay pointed out.

Quickly he and Rai ran up to close and barricade the doors. Just as the root vines grabbed a hold of them. Now was the time to fight back. Kimiko used her fire powers to burn half the roots that were covering the vault; unfortunately, Gigi made more roots sprout from the ground below the monks feet and cover the vault. Rai tried to use his wind powers to pull and blow back the roots but with little success.

Omi was about to use his water powers but the boys covered his mouth before he could finish his sentence. Maxine told him that water would make Gigi grow stronger which would put them at a disadvantage in the fight. Clay stepped in using his powers to send pieces of the ground flying at Gigi. At first Gigi watched as giant boulder rocks came flying his way. Then his eyes popped open and right when you think he was terrified of getting crushed he stopped every rock boulder with his roots. Poor Clay witnessed the whole thing and was besides himself while Gigi used the boulders to his advantage to break down the door leading too the vault and snatch up all the Wu.

"This must be what happened fifteen hundred years ago." Said Kimiko.

"Well we're not going to let history repeat itself." Said Maxine. "Time to turn this plant into mulch!"

Maxine summoned her power of lightning to electrify Gigi. Rubbing her hands she blasted out a bolt of lightning aimed at him but because he had already snagged the Reversing Mirror he sent the lightning bolt right back at Max. Seeing the lightning bolt coming at her Clay pulled Maxine out of harms way in the nick of time.

"Whoa...that was too close for comfort. Thanks Clay you saved me." Said a grateful Maxine.

"Aw shucks ain't nothing little lady. Couldn't let you get hurt from your own powers." Said Clay tipping his hat off to her. "Best we fight this overgrown weed with our bare hands."

Clay let Maxine go then ran up with Kimiko and Master Fung and Dojo at the roots. Strangely little flowers of Gigi popped out talking to Kimiko and Clay before blowing some strange green power smoke at them.

"Oh, oh I just remembered something. Don't touch the flowers there's something unusual about them." Dojo pointed out a tad late.

"Now you tell us." Said Clay who tried to move but couldn't and neither could Kimiko. Their feet had become roots.

"I'm turning into a plant!" Cried a terrified Kimiko.

"Oh yeah, that must be it." Said Dojo who didn't see another flower pop out and blow the same green smoke at him.

Master Fung had gotten the smoke blown at him too causing him to take root in the Earth. Now only Rai, Omi and Maxine remained plant free. Watching as Gigi made his getaway with the Wu. Leaving the remaining heroes to tend to their plant friends and teacher.

~Jack's House~

Gigi had returned with all the Wu he stole from the temple. Placing each Wu on the ground in front of Jack and Vlad.

"Comrade Jack I have never been so happy." Said Vlad. "I think name reality show after you." He gave Jack a tight hug as Jack explained that this was the beginning of a long and beautiful evil friendship.

Right at that moment Gigi made an appearance. Surprising Jack with his new growth.

"I have learned much from you Jack. Vlad not so much. I am no longer taking orders I am taking over." He told the pair.

"What happened to master?" Jack asked.

"Well from now on you will call me master." Gigi replied.

"And what if I refuse?" Questioned Jack who got tied up and hoisted in the air as a response.

"Well I go now. No friendship last forever." Said Vlad walking casually away only to be snagged by his undies and pulled in the air.

Both boys were placed in large pots of soil and turned into plants. Receiving water and a speech from Gigi about how he'll be changing the order of the food chain and plants will be taking over.

~Back at the Temple~

Omi, Rai and Maxine had carefully moved everyone into large pots of soil. Tending and caring for the four as one would to plants for their own sake until the trio could reverse the conditions of this plantafied situation. Omi reassured everyone that the trio would care for them until they were back on their feet. Clay shed a tear at the mention of feet then got an apple he was growing picked by Omi. Who then got told by Maxine to be careful where he's picking fruit off Clay.

Rai asked Master Fung what they could do to fix this. To which Master Fung replied 'Remain discipline, learn from your mistakes, and make sure we get plenty of morning sun.' Poor Rai was besides himself. Who knew tending to your friends who were turned into plants would be hard work. Suddenly, Dojo began to shake and twitch before blooming into a beautiful rose.

"Dojo your beautiful." Said Maxine.

"Oh you are most wonderous." Said Omi.

"Yeah, I know but we got bigger problems. The Moonstone Locust has finally revealed itself." Dojo replied. "Iit unleashes a swarm of locust that will devour the Heylin Seed plant."

"We mst retrieve the Moonstone Locust at once and save our friends." Omi explained.

"Uh Omi, how are we going to get to the Wu?" Asked Maxine. "Dojo's kind of out of commission."

Omi pulled out from within his shirt the Crouching Cougar Wu. With it the trio could transport on the Cougar's back while it ran and it came with a wagon to pull Clay, Kimiko and Dojo. After promising to turn them back to normal or if that didn't work tend to their plant needs the monks set off for the Wu.

~Back at Jack's House~

Wuya-bot was going haywire over the reveal of the Moonstone Locust loud enough to alert Gigi.

"Ah the Moonstone Locust! I must destroy it before it can destroy me!" He cried out. "You my little flower, you will show me to the Shen Gong Wu no?" He spoke looking at Jack.

"What Shen Gong Wu?" Said Jack playing dumb.

That probably wasn't the best answer Jack could give Gigi. Next thing he knew he and Vlad were grabbed and hoisted into the air.

"Take me to the Shen Gong Wu before I turn you into pollen food." Gigi threatened the pair showing his true monstrous face which got the boys agreeing to obey him in mere moments.

Wuya-bot came over calling Jack a wimp saying she never wanted to see him again before tossing away her mouth and waling away. Gigi pulled his root legs out from the ground walking in the direction the Shen Gong Wu was located.

~Somewhere in a Swamp~

The Crouching Cougar had picked up a great deal of speed. Running through a swamp land area past many tall trees with vines entangled in them and murky water below the monks were closing in on the Moonstone Locust that lay hidden in the roots of a large tree. As the Crouching Cougar raced towards the Wu it came to a sudden halt. Out of nowhere roots rose from the ground creating a large wall that blocked the path.

"Raimundo, retrieve the Shen Gong Wu." Said Omi placing the Crouching Cougar back in his shirt. "Maxine and I will cover your back side."

"I sure hope you mean you got me covered." Rai said.

Omi sliced the roots creating a clearing for the trio to enter.

"Go ahead we'll catch up with you!" Clay cried out earning a look from Kimiko and Dojo. He hung his head low because he knew they couldn't go anywhere in their state.

Rai and Omi and Maxine ran down the path at top speed. Avoiding the vines through jumps and leaps and dives and it was going great until two vines grabbed Omi and Maxine spraying them with the green pollen turning them into plants.

"Raimundo it is all up to you now!" Omi cried out.

"You can do it Rai!" Maxine cried out.

Rai moved at great speed swinging on vines like Tarzan through the air avoiding the roots. Landing right in front of the Moonstone Locust Rai reached out to grab the Wu, but just as he did Gigi grabbed it causing the Wu to glow. Gigi wasn't pleased but Rai was more then ready to fight that overgrown weeds butt.

"Yo you overgrown weed I challenge you to a Xiaolin Showdown. My Falcon's Eye for your Thorn of Thunderbolt." Rai told Gigi.

"I accept it and I Shen Yi Bu Dare you. My Reversing Mirror against your Gills of Hamachi." Said Gigi.

"First one to find the Moonstone Locust wins." Rai said.

"Let's go, Xiaolin Showdown!"

Right on cue the trees began to grow shooting straight up towards the sky while the branches stretched to the sides. Rai and Gigi were on separate branches while the monks, Jack and Vlad hung out on the sidelines. The Moonstone Locust sunk into the bubbling swamp water. Giving the cue for the showdown to begin.

"Gong Yi Tempi!"

The pair hopped and swung from branch to branch. Making their way down towards where the Wu was last seen. Rai landed on some tree roots before activating the Falcon's eye to look for the Wu. Gigi didn't give him much time to look. Using the Thorn of Thunderbolt he sent Rai packing. He jumped into the water avoiding the Thunderbolt's attack; however, Gigi sliced a large branch off causing it to fall towards Rai. Quickly Rai activated the Gills of Hamachi and swam away.

Gigi used his roots to grab Rai underwater but Rai dodged and avoided the attack. This pissed Gigi off so he activated the Reversing Mirror. Rai spotted the Wu and was swimming towards it but thanks to the Reversing Mirror his swimming came to a halt when he couldn't breathe. His friends grew worried when they spotted the air bubbles from the water. Gigi took this opportunity to grab Rai whose webbed foot pulled up the Moonstone Locust from the ground. Gigi pulled both Rai and the Wu out of the water and the Wu flew through the air passing by the monks who cried out.

As the Moonstone Locust was flying towards Gigi Rai spun himself free from his tangled vine hold. Kicking the Reversing Mirror in the air which knocked the Moonstone Locust backwards into a tree. Gigi was going for it but Rai popped out standing his ground on some sturdy roots.

"You are as they say game over! (evil laugh)" Said Gigi. "Thorn of Thunderbolt!"

The Wu sent a thunderous blast Rai's way but he didn't seem too worried.

"Its game over alright, Reversing Mirror!" Said Rai sending the blast back Gigi's way.

Gigi flew back hitting the water hard.

Rai hit the tree sending the Wu falling right into his hand thus ending the showdown.

Victory was Raimundo's, the Moonstone Locust was at his disposal and just in time. Gigi had gone full monster plant seeking revenge on Rai. Having had enough of this overgrown weed Rai activated the Moonstone Locust which sent a swarm of white locust at Gigi eating him up until there was nothing left but the seed. Oh and Vlad and Jack ran off arguing over which of them Jacked this mess up the most.

~Back at the Temple~

Everything was back to normal. By which I mean everyone except Rai were no longer plants now that the Heylin Seed had been defeated. Now that that was over Rai promised that from now on he would be focused and disciplined on his work, but for now it was play time. He offered the others a chance to play soccer but instead of tossing the ball he tossed the box in the air. Quickly Omi jumped up to grab the box just as Rai was about to kick it. After noticing he still had the ball in his arm too late.

My apologies for the wait I was dealing with a charging problem with my laptop but its good now
