Fire and Water: One-shot
What V was thinking during the roof scene. Lines from the book, imagery from the movie. Just thrown together on a whim, actually. Hope you like it, review if you enjoy it. Please, no flames.
Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters herewith, they belong to Alan Moore. Which sucks and rocks, but I can't change that.
She stepped from the lift to the roof, bitter rain cascading from the thundering sky above.
"God, I see the rain."
He watched her, solid against the storm. He saw in her the same energy he had that dark November night five years before. He couldn't help but think that somehow she neutralized the evil in him. He was born from fire, she was born from water.
"V, everything is so… different. I feel so…" She was so calm. So calm when he had been so angry.
"I know. I too came through a night like this, naked under a roaring sky."
He held her arms open, lifting them to the thundering heavens. Through the rain he could see the tears on her face.
"This night is yours. Seize it. Encircle it within your arms. Bury it in your heart up to the hilt…"
She opened her eyes to the sky, soaking in his words like the rain.
"Become transfixed. Become transformed. Forever."
They were fire and water. Together, they would lead a corrupt country out of chaos. Together, they would extinguish the fear of oppression. Together. A word so foreign, a word so strange.
He loved her, more than words could say. How he longed to hold her in his arms and to kiss her lips. But because he loved her, he did what he had to in order to break her of her fear. She had become fearless. She had become strong. She had become free. He knew his fate that night. He knew they would not be together after the fifth, that was the way he had planned it.
But they would be the ones to lead the revolution, for however little a time.
Short, yes. But it just came to me out of nowhere. I needed to have it said that V loved Evey. So, yeah. :D I hope you enjoyed it! Please reply!
