A new Life
How should I start this? I guess I should introduce myself first but there are not too many things to say, I'm just one more dragon on this terrible nest ruled by a tyrannical queen
My species? well, I'm a male Skrill
Yes, a Skrill, one of the most feared dragons, however I've been reduced to nothing but a slave of the queen just like the other dragons of the nest, somehow, she is able to control us and there's nothing we can do about it
Sometimes I wish I could escape from this torture with my friend, he is a Night Fury, we've known each other for a while, even before arriving here but that's a story for another time
Also, us dragons don't have names, we use our scents to recognize ourselves between the same members of our species
Now, what are the things that make life here so bad? well, first: the queen most of the time is hungry and the fact that she is a gigantic dragon known as Red Death doesn't help at all, so we have to get her a big amount of food or else she'll eat us without thinking it twice
Second: since we have to get her food all the time, she sends some dragons to attack an island inhabited by humans who will kill any dragon they see
Third: if we try to escape, the queen will feel it somehow and take full control of us for a moment to force us to return, then she'll eat the deserter as a punishment, that's why me and my friend can't fly away when we get the chance
If you live here, you'll have the constant fear of being able to die at any second, the only thing that I thank from here is that I'm not part of the attacks to the human island
I'll explain, like I said, the queen sends some dragons to attack the human island to get food but she didn't make me part of them, because I'm a Skrill, she knows that I have a destructive power because my species is able to manipulate lightnings
That's why along with some dragons I'm in charge of protecting the nest from any intruders that might come it doesn't matter if they're humans or dragons that could do a great damage to the queen
However, my Night Fury friend wasn't so lucky, thanks to his dark scales it's hard to see him in the night sky, that's why he's perfect for the attacks
Right now, it's night time and I'm flying around the nest to see if the dragons that the queen send to the human island are returning, I didn't have to wait long because I saw how they started to approach the nest,
Then, I flew back at the inside of the nest to inform the queen what I saw
"My queen, the dragons that you send have returned" I said as I bowed with respect
"Good, they've better have brought enough food, I'm starving" the queen said
Minutes later from my place at the nest I saw how the dragons started to give food for the queen and luckily, they got enough for to please her
"Skrill!" I heard someone yell, I looked where the voice came and saw how the Night Fury flew towards me
"Night Fury! You're back!" I said relieved "How was the attack?"
"It went good but the humans were able to capture five dragons" the Night Fury said
"That's bad, I hope humans will be merciful with them" I said sadly
"I hope that too" the Night Fury said "How were things here at the nest while we were gone?"
"They were bad, the queen ate a Nadder because one of the fishes that he gave her wasn't in a good state" I said
"Poor Nadder, at least he won't have to live this horrible life anymore" the Night Fury said
"You're right, hopefully with the food that you guys gave the queen, she shouldn't be hungry for a while" I said before noticing that everyone was preparing to sleep "We should go to sleep, it's late"
"Very well" the Night Fury said before using his fire to warm the ground to sleep on it "Good night, Skrill"
"Good night, Night Fury" I said before curling up in my own spot and sleep
The following days nothing really interesting happen, I just had to follow my routine, wake up, eat whatever I could find along with the Night Fury, go and search for the queen's breakfast and watch over the nest for the rest of the day, really boring, I know
But then, the amount of food that we were giving the queen wasn't pleasing her anymore, that's why she organized another attack to the human island and as usual, I'm staying here while the Night Fury and more dragons go to attack
Before the dragons left, I went to talk with the Night Fury "Please stay safe, I don't want to lose my only friend in the whole nest" I said
"Don't worry, I'll stay in the shadows, like I always do" the Night Fury said
"Okay, good luck" I said
"Thanks" the Night Fury said before he and more dragons left the nest
The next day too early in the morning I was flying around the nest waiting but then I saw how the dragons than went to attack the human island returned, however, this time a Monstrous Nightmare was in charge of informing the queen that the dragons returned
I decided to stay outside to reunite with the Night Fury but something was wrong, HE WASN'T AMONG THEM!
No, nononono, he can't be dead, there must be an explanation for this… right? Maybe he… had to go back to release the dragons that were captured, yeah, that must be it
I landed on the ground and waited for the Night Fury for hours but he never came, even the sun rose but there was still no sign of the Night Fury
What should I do know? My friend… is gone, then an idea appeared on my head but it was too risky but I had no choice
I'm going to the human island and I'm going to find my friend, I know that I must escape from the nest first but I have a trick under my wing
My species has the ability to ride a lightning, if I do it, I should be able to arrive at the human island in no time, I know where it is all thanks to the Night Fury, he told me about the island's location once
I prepared myself to ride a lightning, however, it's been a while since I've done this, so I don't know what will happen but I have nothing to lose
I felt the electricity flowing through my body as I got in position, then I roared to the sky and a lighting stroke me but I used it to impulse myself and I finally rode it
"Hold on, Night Fury, I'm on my way" I said
I didn't know how much time passed but I landed at a sea stack feeling very exhausted, the lack of practice clearly affected me but then I saw at the distance an island, so that must mean that I'm close
However, I had to fly all the way there, I stretched my wings and began to fly but the fatigue that I was feeling was overcoming me
"Come on, Skrill, you're almost there, just don't close your eyes" I motivated myself but I couldn't take it anymore, while I was flying above the forest of the island, I felt extremely tired and then everything went dark
I don't know how much time I was out before waking up in the middle of the forest, I must have crashed here after passing out
But then I realized something… I can't feel the queen's influence on me anymore!
"How did this happen?" I asked myself "Maybe I hit my head during the crash or something"
Even though I don't know how it happen, I definitely won't complain about it
"Okay, I just need to find the Night Fury and get out of here" I said as I prepared to fly but I felt a massive pain in my wing "OUCH!" I roared in pain
"Oh no, my wing" I said looking at my wing… it was dislocated "Great, I'm free from the queen's control but now I can't fly"
What should I do now? I can't look for my friend in these conditions and I'm also stuck in an island full of humans that will kill me once they find me
"I guess that I'll look for a shelter, I can't do anything else for now" I muttered
After a few minutes of walking, I arrived at a cave in the forest "This should be enough" I said before walking to the inside of the cave
It's already sunset, that must mean that I was unconscious for a big number of hours, my wing still hurts and to make things worse, I'm really hungry
"That's what I get for not eating anything before leaving the nest" I muttered annoyed
After a few hours the night arrived and it was raining, I can't remember when was the last time I flew freely through a storm, I guess that I can consider myself as the Skrill with the worse luck ever, huh
The next day, I tried to hunt but I didn't have any luck and I'm starving and my wing isn't helping me at all, every prey that I was able to find was able to run away before I could get it and I couldn't fish either, water is one of my weaknesses and I can't risk to be defenseless at an island full of humans
Later during the sunset, I returned to my cave felling really tired and hungry but I think I know what to do, I'm going to make my wing go back in place but I still don't know how I am supposed to do that
Maybe if I stretch my wing really fast, it'll go back in place and I'll be able to fly again
"Okay Skrill, stretch you wing and everything will be- OUCH!" I roared in pain when I stretched my wing
I tried a few more times but it didn't work… "Maybe I'm going to die here… there's nothing else I can do" I said sadly
"No, I can't die here, I've already escaped from that horrible nest and I'm not going to give up now" I motivated myself
"Okay, let's just try one more- OUCH!" I roared in pain
Suddenly I heard some footsteps so I looked at the entrance of the cave and saw a male human hatchling that doesn't seem to have more than 14 winters
I immediately tensed up and started to growl at the human as I stretched my wings trying to look intimidating but I only roared in pain again
"Hey, it's okay I'm here to help" the human said as he walked towards me
"Stay back!" I growled
"Here, eat this it'll make you feel better" the human said offering me something… wait a second is that… mutton?
I smelled the mutton before eating it, I don't know if it was because I haven't eaten for a while or because I haven't eaten mutton in a long time but, it tasted so good!
Then the human started to walk towards me but this time I only looked at him with curiosity still not sure of why would he feed me
Suddenly the human bowed his head and stretched his arm… was he… trusting me?
"If you trust me… I guess I should trust you too" I said as I placed my snout on his hand, I don't know how to describe it but I felt how a warm feeling went through all over my body when I placed my snout on his hand
"See? I'm not going to hurt you I just want to help you with your wing" the human said
I allowed the human to walk to my damaged wing, he took it and analyzed it before talking "I'll have to put your wing to its original position this might hurt a little" he said
I only nodded meaning that I was ready, then he pulled my wing making it go back in place "Ouch!" I roared in pain but it only took me a few seconds to notice that my wing didn't hurt me anymore
However, it's not completely healed so I must get use to fly again "There it's done" the human said before walking outside of the cave to reunite with another male human hatchling
"Blake, I'm impressed that you were able to take care of that dragon" the second human said
So, the name of the human that helped me is Blake, what a curious name
The humans continued to talk but I didn't pay attention to their conversation but then Blake entered the cave again "We are going to take you to a hidden place you can stay there until you recover" he said
I nodded before starting to follow them, however, I was walking slowly not wanting to hurt myself again
After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at a cove, both of the humans helped me to get to the bottom but then the second human went to talk with someone
"Hey we brought a new friend here I hope you don't mind" the second human said
"What do you mean?" a voice replied… wait a second, that voice, I recognize it
The second human moved allowing me to see with who he was talking to making my eyes widen… it was the Night Fury
"Night Fury!" I roared happily running towards him "Skrill!" he roared back
"What are you doing here?" the Night Fury asked
"No, it's me who should ask you that" I said "What are you doing here? and why you didn't come back to the nest?!"
"Well, when the attack was going to end, I don't know how but those humans were able to shot me down" the Night Fury explained gesturing at the humans behind me
"What?!" I gasped
"Yeah, and as a result my tail was damaged" the Night Fury said showing me his tail and it was true, one part of his tail was missing
"But why you look so calm with the humans that did that to you around?" I asked confused
"Because when they found me at the forest, they released me instead of killing me" the Night Fury explained leaving me in shock "But that's not all, one of them feed me and draw me on the ground, maybe humans aren't so bad after all"
I only stood on my place still processing it all "Now it's your turn to answer my question" the Night Fury said snapping me out of my thoughts "What are you doing here?"
"Well, after you didn't come back to the nest, I started to get worried so I used my ability to ride a lightning in order to come to this island and look for you, however, I crashed and my wing got damaged" I explained
"I hid in a cave until the same humans found me and the one called Blake helped me with the pain in my wing and feed me before bringing me here" I said "But I still can't fly"
"Blake? Is that the human with black eyes?" the Night Fury asked
"Yes, do you know what is the name of the other human?" I asked
"If I heard right, his name is Hiccup" the Night Fury said
So, the humans' names are Hiccup and Blake "Wow, humans have weird names, huh?" I said before realizing that the humans were gone
"Where did Hiccup and Blake go?" I asked confused
"They left while we were talking" the Night Fury said
"Oh, well, I guess that we're trapped on this island" I said awkwardly
"You're right, but this is definitely better that the nest" the Night Fury said
After that I went to the lake to take some water, then I realized that there were some fishes in there and luckily, I was able to get one, even though Blake gave me mutton to eat, I'm still hungry
Then I looked back at the Night Fury who was preparing to sleep, I should to the same, I curled up next to him and went to sleep
The next day a human voice waked us up "Hey, Toothless, Thunder" the voice called, I looked where the voice came and saw Hiccup and Blake walking towards us but who are this Toothless and Thunder?
"We brought you breakfast, I hope you are hungry" Hiccup said
"For you Thunder I brought you some mutton I hope you like it" Blake said opening a bag full of mutton in front of me
But then I realized something, he called me… Thunder? Did he put me a name
I guess I'll think about it later, right now I'm going to eat
"As for you Toothless I brought you some salmon, cod and an eel" Hiccup said, wait did he said eel and did he put a name to the Night Fury?
I looked at where the Night Fury or better said Toothless was and saw how Hiccup was holding an eel in front of him
"GET THAT THING AWAY FROM ME!" Toothless screamed
"No, no, no! It's ok" Hiccup said throwing the eel as far as he could "Yeah, I don't like eel either"
At that point I already finished eating so I walked next to Blake who was looking how Hiccup placed something on Toothless' tail, however, he seemed to feel this
"Um, Hiccup, you might want to grab on to something" Blake warded noticing that Toothless was stretching his wings
"Why do you say, THAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!" Hiccup suddenly yelled when Toothless started flying but then Toothless started to fall
"No, no, no, not again!" Toothless yelled but Hiccup was able to do something preventing them to crash, this made Toothless to go higher into the air
Then Toothless realized that he had Hiccup on his tail "Get off me!" Toothless yelled shaking his tail making Hiccup fall but luckily, he landed on the lake
Seconds later Toothless crashed at the lake as well
"Yeah!" Hiccup cheered for some reason
When Toothless was able to come back to the ground the first thing I did was asking "What was that?"
"I don't know, Hiccup placed something on my tail that helped me to fly again for a moment" Toothless said showing me his tail, I watched closely and saw a replica of his tail fin right were the original was supposed to be
"That is truly something, huh?" I asked
"Yeah, but personally I'm more concerned about something" Toothless said
"What is it?" I asked
"Did Hiccup and Blake, named us?" Toothless asked
"Apparently yes, and it looks like your name is now, Toothless" I said
"Toothless?! Seriously?! But I have teeth!" Toothless protested
"True but Hiccup and Blake can't understand us, so I guess that you'll have to live with that" I said
"Fine, I'll keep that name but I'm not happy with it" Toothless groaned "Did they put you a name too?"
"Yes, and it appears to be, Thunder" I said "I like it"
After a few minutes, Hiccup and Blake left and Toothless was still trying to process that he now had a name and he was able to fly again for a moment and I couldn't stop thinking about something or better said someone
Blake, I couldn't stop thinking on him, I felt attracted to him but not in a romantic way and I also felt the urge to protect him, I don't know what's wrong with me
Then an idea of what was happening came to me, did I willingly enslave myself to him?!
The attraction that I'm feeling… it must be the desire of a slave to serve its master and in this case, I'm the slave and Blake is the master
Blake must be aware from this, that's probably the reason of why he named me, to claim me as his property, and it looks like now I have no choice but to obey his every command
Now I can really consider myself the Skrill with the worse luck ever, I passed from being the slave of the queen to be the slave of a human
But if I have to choose between being the slave of a queen that would eat me if she doesn't get enough food or being the slave of a human master that treats me well and even gives me delicious mutton to eat
I'd definitely rather to be the slave of the human, however, this is still sad, freedom is just right there and I can't reach it
And how should I think of Blake? I think I should start calling him and thinking of him as my master, I know he can't understand me or read my mind but I don't want to take any chances
The next day Hiccup and Blake or better said my master came back and they brought something with them… saddles!
Toothless and I looked at each other for a moment knowing what the other was thinking "Nope" we said before running away in different directions
I know that Blake is my master but I don't like the idea of carrying someone on my back
"Thunder, come back here" my master ordered taking me by surprise, I don't want that saddle on my back but I don't want to make my master mad either so I had to obey
"Yes master" I said walking towards him, then he placed the saddle on my back while Hiccup did the same with Toothless
But I have to admit it, me running through the cove with my master chasing me around, it was kind of fun
Moments later Hiccup was riding Toothless using a rope to control the new tail fine, also, my master was riding me, if I correctly understood, this way he could see if my wing was healing like it was supposed to
Unfortunately, Hiccup didn't open the tail fin correctly and pain appeared on my wing so we all crashed on a grass field
But this grass had something special, I don't know what it is but for some reason it felt really good when it touched my scales and the smell it produced was wonderful
Toothless and me started to roll over the grass in an ecstasy state
"This smell's so good!" Toothless said
"I don't want to leave from here!" I said happily, too bad that we have to leave and return to the cove
Hiccup and my master left saying that they have to "do something" I'm not sure what it is but I don't think than that it should bother me
Hours later, they come back to feed us but then Hiccup started to scratch Toothless behind the ears
"Oh yeah, that's the spot" Toothless purred in pleasure, then Hiccup scratched him under the chin making him fall to the ground
"That was priceless!" I laughed but then I felt something scratching me behind my crown of spines "Oh, that feels good"
I then realized that my master was the one scratching me and I couldn't help but to purr, at some point I fell to the ground and rolled leaving my belly exposed but then my masted did something that I've never expected
HE STARTED TO GIVE ME A BELLY RUB! Oh, gods it felt so good! "Please don't stop!" I purred louder and squirmed in pleasure until I fell asleep
When I woke up, Hiccup and my master were still here so they took the chance to tell us about themselves
Apparently, the name of the island is Berk and the humans that live here are called Vikings, Hiccup is the son of the chief but that didn't make him get any respect or friends
In fact, my master is his only friend, that is really sad, I can't believe it, with the title of heir of the tribe, he should have a lot of friends or at lest have the respect of his people
As for my master, he's not from Berk, he arrived here a few months ago and he was adopted by Gobber a one legged and one armed Viking but my master also lost his memory, he doesn't remember anything from his past, not even his family
I couldn't help but to feel empathy for him and I'm pretty sure that Toothless felt empathy for Hiccup
Minutes later, they said that they have to return to the village before someone could notice their absence
The next day they returned to feed us one more time, while I was eating, my master did some stretching exercises to my wing
Then when we finished eating Toothless and I saw something shiny on the ground "Thunder, what is that?" Toothless asked
"I don't know… but I want to catch it!" I said before pouncing at the thing
"No! I'll catch it first" Toothless said
Then when I was almost able to catch the thing, it moved "Hey, get back here!" I said
We were trying to catch the thing for a couple of minutes until the thing suddenly disappeared disappointing me, I don't know about Toothless but I was having fun
Hours later we were all at the edge of a cliff and Hiccup and my master tied us to some sticks, that way Hiccup could learn how to properly control the new tail and my master could see if my wing had properly healed
Suddenly a big wave of air broke the ropes making us crash but when we recovered Hiccup was stocked with Toothless "Oh, great" Hiccup said
"That could be a problem" my master said
"We'll have to go to the forge to cut this" Hiccup said
"No, that is too dangerous, I'll go back and bring all the tools we need wait for me back at the cove, I'll be there as soon as I can" my master said
"Okay, we'll wait for you there" Hiccup said
Back at the cove we waited for my master for a couple of minutes but when he came back, he looked mad for some reason
"Blake, are you ok?" Hiccup asked
"Yes I-I'm ok I just have an encounter with Astrid, we have to be careful with her, she'll be on our backs" my master said
Obviously, I don't know who is this "Astrid" but she sounds like a big deal
The next day at the afternoon Hiccup and my master come back, this time we were going on our first official flight
"Okay we are ready" Hiccup said getting on Toothless' back
"I hope this works but are you sure that you'll be able to memorize the steps to control the tail?" my master asked getting on my back
I already got used to his weight on my back, I don't know why but somehow, I seem to enjoy it a bit
"Yes, I'm sure but I think the real question is. Do you think that Thunder will be able to fly?" Hiccup asked
"As long as he doesn't push himself too far, he'll be ok" my master said, it's good to know that he worries about me
Minutes later we were flying above the ocean, I almost forgot the wonderful views and the wonderful feeling that flying properly gives me
"Okay bud, we are going to take this nice and slow" Hiccup said
"Us too Thunder, nice and slow" my master said
"Yes master" I replied
"Uh, position three no four" Hiccup said opening Toothless' prosthetic tail fin making him fly faster
"Oh no, don't even think in leaving us behind" I said staring to fly faster
"Okay, Thunder seems like you wing has healed very well" my master said
Then Toothless and I dived stopping a few inches above the ocean, everything was going fine until Toothless and Hiccup chased with a sea stack
"Ah, sorry" Hiccup apologized but they immediately crashed with other sea stack "That was my fault"
"Hey, watch it!" Toothless said before slapping Hiccup's face with one of his ears so me and my master had to hold our laughter
"Alright I get it, position four no three" Hiccup said
"Okay Thunder, let's see what you got" my master said
"With pleasure!" I roared in excitement before me and Toothless started to fly higher into the sky
"Yeah!" Hiccup cheered
"Let's go!" my master cheered "This is amazing"
"I know right, the wind on my- cheat sheet nooooooo!" Hiccup suddenly yelled
I looked at him and realized the harness that Hiccup made to stay on Toothless' back has clipped off and now the two of them started to scream while falling
"HICCUP!" my master yelled
"Hold on, I've got you" I yelled before diving to catch them but since Toothless was spinning in the air he almost hit me with his tail
I was able to dodge it but for some reason I felt lighter, I looked up at my master waiting for instructions but, he wasn't there anymore! Instead of being safe in my back, he was falling!
"Master!" I yelled worriedly
Luckily, I was able to catch him and Hiccup was able to make his way back to Toothless' back and now the problem is that, were flying at a field of sea stacks!
We entered the field and I was able to dodge all of the sea stacks, all thanks to my already healed wing, that's the reason of why I could dodge all the sea stacks
As for Hiccup and Toothless, somehow, Hiccup was able to properly control the tail fin preventing them to crash
After we were out of danger Toothless and I looked at each other for a moment before roaring happily
But Toothless seemed to be carried away because he shot a plasma blast that created a fire wall I quicky stop flying not wanting my master to get burned
"Toothless! Humans are not fire proof!" I yelled noticing that Toothless didn't stop
"Oh no" Toothless said realizing his mistake
Hours later we all landed at a small island to take a break, that flight really tired us
We were all enjoying some fish that Toothless and I trapped, suddenly Toothless regurgitated a fish for Hiccup "Uh, no thanks I'm good" he said
Then I prepared myself to regurgitate a fish for my master to thank him for helping me with my wing "Please don't do it Thunder, I'm also okay" he said
"Yes master" I said but for some reason that didn't feel right anymore and I don't know why, I mean he is my master and I should call him like that… right?
That's when I realized something, in all of this time, he never saw as a slave, he saw me as a friend
That day at the forest, somehow, we bonded, that attraction that I felt was probably the result of our bonding, that day he befriended me and I befriended him, and that urge that I felt to protect him, I've already felt something similar when Toothless had an… incident with a Whispering Death
That's something that I don't like to remember but back then, I felt the urge to protect Toothless, it's almost like an instinct activated in me
The instinct to protect my friends
I can't believe how stupid I am, Blake, was never my master he is my friend and my rider I guess I can consider myself as the Skrill with the best luck ever
Suddenly four Terrible Terrors flew towards us "Stay back" Toothless growled covering his fish while I did the same
One of them was able to steal the fish that Toothless regurgitated for Hiccup and started eating it
Then a fish started to walk away but Toothless saw it and discover that it was another Terror trying to steal the fish
"Hey, give me that" Toothless said before eating the fish first making the Terror mad so he was getting ready to attack Toothless
But when it opened its mouth to fire at Toothless, he shot a plasma blast at the inside of the Terror making him inflate, when the Terror went back to normal, he was disoriented
"Not so fireproof from the inside are you, there you go" Hiccup said throwing his fish at the Terror
"For me?" the Terror asked before eating the fish "Thanks"
Then the Terror slowly approached to Hiccup and curled up next to him who start petting him
"Everything we know about dragons is wrong" Hiccup said
"I don't know why would someone want to kill these wonderful creatures" Blake said petting my head
Later that night we all returned to the cove, Blake removed the saddle from by back
"Thunder, since your wing is already healed, you can go now, you don't have to stay here anymore" Blake said
Toothless looked at me fearing that I might leave "I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying here with my friends" I said taking Toothless by surprise, of course that Blake wasn't able to understand me so I gestured at him with my wing
"You want to stay?" Blake asked in disbelief and I only nodded "Very well"
Then he and Hiccup left the cove leaving me with Toothless "Thunder, are you sure that you want to stay?" he asked
"I'm sure, here it's not so bad and we both have human friends now" I said
"I guess you're right, but the queen is still out there and she'll send more dragons to attack the human village" Toothless said
"That's true but I don't think we can to anything" I said sadly
After that we went to sleep but this time, I had the comforting feeling of being free from anyone's control and having a wonderful human friend and rider
The next day at the afternoon instead of Hiccup and Blake another human hatchling came but this time it was a female, she sat on a rock looking like she was waiting for something or someone
"Toothless, look" I whispered and gestured at the female human
"Who is she?" Toothless asked
"That must be the 'Astrid' that Blake mentioned" I said
After a few minutes Hiccup and Blake arrived but they didn't notice that Astrid was there, Hiccup and Blake were saying something but Toothless and I were too far to even listen
We continued to watch their conversation but then Astrid did something that made us growl in anger, she hit Hiccup and Blake!
Astrid seemed to hear our growls so she froze in her place, Toothless and I took this opportunity to attack her
"STAY AWAY FROM THEM!" we roared as we pounced at her but Hiccup tackled Astrid out of the way and when he got up, he blocked our way
"It's okay you scare them" Hiccup said trying to hold Toothless back
"I scare them? Who are they?" Astrid said
"Astrid, Toothless, Toothless, Astrid" Hiccup introduced
"And this is Thunder" Blake introduced me but we only growled at Astrid one more time making her ran away
"Da, Da, Da we're dead" Hiccup said
"I'm just going to go now" Toothless said walking away
"Whoa, where do you think you are going" Hiccup
I only looked at Blake who was only able to sigh "We're going to chase her, right?" I asked
I was right, minutes later we flew above the forest looking for Astrid "There she is!" Blake said pointing down I look where he was pointing and saw how Astrid was running
"We got her" Hiccup said before he and Toothless dived to catch Astrid
"OH, GREAT ODIN'S GHOST AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH" she screamed when Toothless lifted her before placing her at the top of a tree
"Hiccup get me down from here and Blake, I always knew you were hiding something!" Astrid yelled furiously
"You have to give us a chance to explain" Hiccup said
"I'm not listening to anything you have to say!" Astrid yelled
"Then I won't talk, just let me show you, please" Hiccup pleaded
"Astrid, is that or you can find your own way down" Blake said
Astrid sighed defeated and climbed on Toothless back with Hiccup "Now get me down" she said
"Toothless, down gently" Toothless only starched his wing "See? there's nothing to be afraid of" Hiccup said looking at Astrid
"There's definitely something to be afraid of" Toothless muttered with a funny expression on his face
Suddenly without warning Toothless started to fly in an aggressive way, Blake and I were only able to watch them
"Let's follow them from behind" Blake said
"Very well" I said before starting to follow Toothless
From the distance we saw how Toothless started to dive in and out of the ocean and he even started to spin
Then Toothless opened his wings and began to fly in a more stable way
I continued to follow him from the distance until we flew at a considerable distance from Berk, I'll admit it the view was incredible and I'm sure that Blake enjoyed
When I was able to catch up with Toothless, Hiccup, Blake and Astrid started to talk but I was more occupied talking with Toothless
"Uh, can you explain me what happen back there?" I asked
"Let's just said that I gave, Astrid a lesson that she won't forget" Toothless explained
Suddenly I felt dizzy and my head started to hurt a bit, then I realized what was happening,
WERE GOING BACK TO THE NEST! No, this bad, we have to go but I-I can't fly away for some reason I just want to go to the nest and serve the queen again
No! get out of my head! To make things worse I felt that I was losing the control of myself and even though Blake is on my back, I can barely hear his voice with every second that passed his voice became… distant
Then more dragons started to show up
"Are those the Night Fury and the Skrill?"
"What are they doing here?"
"The queen won't be happy to see them"
That's what I was able to hear other dragons say
It didn't take us long to arrive at the nest, the other dragons started to drop food at the hole where the queen always is
Toothless and I had to hide behind some rocks "Satisfying to know than our food is dumped down a hole" I heard Hiccup said
Wait, if I can hear his voice, that must mean that the queen is not controlling me, suddenly a lonely Gronckle showed up and spit a tiny fish
"Oh no" Toothless whispered
"HOW DARE YOU!" the queen roared angrily before eating the Gronckle
"What is that?" Astrid asked scared
"The queen" I replayed scared but then the queen saw us
"Night Fury, Skrill, how you both dare to come back" the queen said
"Toothless, you and Thunder you need to get us out of here" Hiccup whispered "Now!"
You don't need the tell me that twice, Toothless and I quickly flew away as fast as we could leaving the nest behind
Some time later we returned to the cove, however, Toothless and I… well, we were still trying to process what just happen, we returned to the nest and we almost got eaten by the queen and she can't control us anymore
Hiccup, Astrid and Blake were talking with each other but I only walked to the other side of the cove before finding a place to sleep, I hope I don't have nightmares for tonight
The next day Toothless was taking a nap while I was trying to find a way to spend time until Hiccup and Blake come
Suddenly a scream was heard that woke Toothless up but those screams sound to familiar
Are those Hiccup's screams?!
"Hiccup!" Toothless yelled before trying to climb the walls of the cove in order to escape "I'm coming!"
I tried to help Toothless to climb, it took us a few attempts but he was able to get out of the cove
"I'll se you at the village" I said as I began to fly
"No!" Toothless roared stopping me "Stay here, I'll be back"
Toothless ran off to the village so I decided to stay at the cove but as time passed, Toothless didn't came back, I was starting to get worried
"Thunder" I heard a voice call
I looked where the voice came and saw how Blake was entering the cove "Blake!" I said running towards him but it didn't take me long to realize that Hiccup and Toothless weren't with him
"Something bad happened, Toothless was captured and the Vikings are using to go to the nest" Blake said
"What?!" I roared
"Don't worry, we're going to save him but first we have to get help" Blake said before getting on my back and telling me to fly somewhere
Once we arrived, I realized that it was the arena of the village, Blake got off my back and was going to enter the arena but he looked back at me
"I think is better if you stay here for a moment, the people in there are not familiar with Skrills" Blake said
"Okay, I'll wait here" I nodded
While Blake entered the arena I looked inside and saw Hiccup along with Astrid and four human hatchlings three of them were male and the last one was female… I think
"You can come in now!" I heard Blake call
"Finally!" I roared as I entered the arena roaring one more time, the I walked next to Blake who gave me some head pats
"IS THAT A-" all of the other hatchlings yelled
"A Skrill?" Blake ended "Yes, his name is Thunder"
"So, you had contact with dragons before you arrived at Berk?" a male hatchling that looked a bit… husky said
"I don't know, I met Thunder here at Berk" Blake said gesturing at me
"What do you mean that you don't know?" another male hatchling said
Then Blake told them how he met me and that he lost his memory, I also took the opportunity to learn the hatchlings' names
The husky one is named Fishlegs, the second hatchling that talked is named Snotlout, and finally the twins Ruffnut and Tuffnut
So that's why you never went back home, but what about your fighting skills? I still remember that day three months ago" Snotlout asked
I don't know what is he talking about but it looks like he had a fight with Blake, I never thought that he was a fighter
"Well, I guess than my memory was damaged but my instincts are intact but that's not important now" Blake said before looking at Hiccup "Should we begin with your plan?"
Hiccup nodded before walking to a cage before opening revealing what was inside, it was a Monstrous Nightmare
When the Monstrous Nightmare was out of his cage, Hiccup was calming him down when they were in front of the other hatchlings, Hiccup grabbed Snotlout's hand pilling it closer to the Nightmare's snout
"Wait! What are you-" Snotlout said pulling his hand back
"It's okay, it's okay" Hiccup said grabbing Snotlout's hand again then Hiccup put Snotlout's hand on then Nightmare's snout, Snotlout only laughed not believing he was touching a dragon
But then Hiccup began to walk away "Wait, where are you going?" Snotlout asked
"You're going to need something to help you hold on" Hiccup said grabbing some ropes
"Trust me you are really going to need them" Blake said
Confused I looked at him before realizing that he opened more cages each oner with a dragon inside, a Nadder, a Gronckle and a Zippleback came out of the cages
"Wait, is that the Skrill from the nest?" the Nadder asked
"It appears so" the Gronckle said
"Yes, it's me" I said
"What are you doing here?" one of the Zippleback's heads said
"It's a long story but for now, you'll have to trust me when I said that these humans are not bad" I said
All of the dragons looked at me like I was cray but seconds later each one of them bonded with a human
Astrid bonded with the Nadder and named her Stormfly
Fishlegs bonded with the Gronckle and named her Meatlug
The twins bonded with the Zippleback and named them Barf and Belch
And Snotlout bonded with the Monstrous Nightmare and named him Hookfang
Minutes later we were already on our way to the nest, I just hope that it's not too late
When we arrived, I was socked for what I saw, the queen was outside of the nest attacking the Vikings and burning their ships
Stormfly shot at the queen making her roar in pain but this also made her notice us
"Tuff, Ruff watch your backs, move Fishlegs!" Hiccup ordered
"Check us out! We're on dragons all of us!" Tuffnut cheered
"Fishlegs, break it down" Hiccup said
"Okay, heavy and armored skull made for bashing and crushing stay clear of both, small eyes and large nose relies on hearing and smell" Fishlegs said
"Snotlout, Fishlegs see if it has a blind spot, make noises keep it confused" Hiccup said "Tuff, Ruff find out if it has a shot limit, make it mad" that shouldn't be too hard
"That's my specialty" Ruffnut said
"Since when? Everyone knows I'm more irritating, see?" Tuffnut said riding upside Belch's neck making annoying noises
"Just do what I told you, Blake, I need you to help me find Toothless we'll be back as soon as we can" Hiccup said
We started to fly around the battlefield looking for Toothless "HELP!" a voice roared, that's Toothless' voice
"There!" Hiccup said pointing at Toothless who was trying to escape from the ship on fire
We flew above the ship and Blake and Hiccup jumped onto it
"Go help the others!" Hiccup said to Astrid
"Thunder, get out of here!" Blake told me
I did as I was told so I decided to wait from them at the shore, they tried their best to free Toothless but the queen smashed their ship making it sink
"Hiccup! Toothless! Blake!" I roared worriedly when the ship completely sank and none of them came out, then an adult male Viking jumped into the water
Seconds later he came out with Hiccup and Blake, I immediately ran towards them as they were throwing up all the water inside them
"Dad?" Hiccup said noticing the adult Viking, so that's Hiccup's father
Then Hiccup's father dived again into the water and seconds later he and Toothless came out of the water
"Let's finish this, Hiccup" Toothless said making a head gesture telling Hiccup to ride him
"You got it bud" Hiccup said riding Toothless
"Don't you think on leaving me out of this" Blake said riding me
"Hiccup!" Hiccup's father said grabbing Hiccup's hand "I'm sorry for everything"
"You don't have to go up there" Hiccup's father said
"We're Vikings it's an occupational hazard" Hiccup said
"I'm proud to call you my son" Hiccup's father said
"Thanks dad" Hiccup said
Then Hiccup's father looked at Blake "And Blake is an honor to have you in our tribe"
"Thanks, sir" Blake said
Then we flew up into the sky ready to attack the queen, Toothless fired a plasma blast while I fired a lightning blast
However, the explosion made Astrid fall from Stormfly's back
"We've got her!" Toothless said as he dived to catch Astrid
Luckily, they were able to catch Astrid in time and leave her safely at the ground before returning
"Blake, that thing has wings" Hiccup said
"So, let's see if it can use them" Blake said
We continue to fire at the queen until she got mad "You'll pay for this!" she said stretching her wings before beginning to fly, honestly, I've never thought that I'll see her fly
"Well, it can fly" Hiccup said "Okay, Toothless, time to disappear"
"Us too, Thunder" Blake said before we all started to fly into the clouds disappearing from the queen's sight
"Where are you?" she growled in anger but then Toothless shot her a plasma blast, before the queen got time to react, I shot her a lightning blast
We continued to attack her like this until she decided to fire all over the sky trying to get us, I was able to dodge the fire but once we reunite with Hiccup and Toothless, we realized that they weren't able to escape completely from the fire
"That tail won't last long enough" Blake said pointing at Toothless' prosthetic tail and indeed he was right, the queen's fire was able to burn it
"Okay, time's up let's see if this works" Hiccup said
"I'll be right behind you" Blake said
Toothless and I began to fly ever higher than before "Stay with me Toothless just a little bit longer" Hiccup said
"I'm trying the best I can!" Toothless said
When we were up enough, we dive directly at the queen's jaws who was preparing herself to shot us
"NOW!" Hiccup and Blake yelled making Toothless and me shot at the queen's insides
"NO! NO!" she roared in pain once an explosion happened inside her, we tried to fly away but Toothless' prosthetic tail was completely burned so he and Hiccup started to fall
"No, NO!" Hiccup screamed when the tail of the queen hit him and made him fall from Toothless' back
"Hiccup!" Toothless yelled as he dived to save Hiccup, luckily, he was able to catch Hiccup and cover him with his body
"HICCUP!" Blake yelled as I dived to catch both Hiccup and Toothless but a minor explosion happened forcing me to fly away to avoid the fire
AAAAAAHHHHHH!" I suddenly heard Blake yell in pain
I flew away from the fire as fast as I could, when we were a safe distance, I looked up at Blake and notice that he was covering his eye with his hand, that must mean… oh no
The fire, it must have reached his eye!
What should I do now? Wait, the other Vikings might be able to help him!
"Hold on, Blake, you'll be okay" I said flying as fast as I could back to the ground but Blake was fighting to stay awake "Don't close your eyes, please!"
When I finally landed, Blake couldn't stay awake anymore and he passed out but one Viking caught him preventing him to hit the ground, this Viking only has one leg and one arm so he's probably Gobber
"We need to get them to Berk, now!" Hiccup's father ordered
Astrid was able to put Blake's unconscious body on Stromfly's back, however, Hiccup was more injured so he wasn't in condition to fly and Toothless can't fly without him, so both of them had to be transported in a ship
On our way back to Berk I couldn't stop feeling guilty for Blake's condition, if I only had reacted in time, he wouldn't have been injured
When we arrived at Berk, Astrid and the others took Blake to a healer I had to wait outside, minutes later they took Blake to his room at his house, that's when I was allowed to see him
He had a bandage covering his eyes, I placed my head on his chest to listen to his heartbeat, that was my only guarantee that he was alive
"Don't worry, he'll be fine" a voice said, I looked where the voice came and saw Astrid entering the room "I don't know him too well, but I know that he's a warrior"
"I hope that you're right" I said sadly
The next morning, the ships had finally arrived and the Vikings also took Hiccup to a healer, Astrid told Gobber what the healer told her and how I watched over his adopted son
Then we returned to Blake's room only to find out that he was waking up, I quickly ran to his side happily
"Huh, what happen?" Blake asked as he sat on his bed "Where am I?"
"Blake?" Gobber asked
"Dad? What happen?" Blake asked before touching the bandage that covered his eyes
"Hey, take it easy" Gobber said placing a hand on Blake's shoulder "What's the last thing you remember?"
"I… remember the fire and… Hiccup and Toothless!" Blake gasped "Are they okay?! And where's Thunder?!"
"Calm down, Hiccup is with a healer, his leg was badly burned and if Toothless is that Night Fury, he's also okay" Gobber said "And if by Thunder you mean that Skrill, he's right next to you"
Blake seemed surprised by this and stretched his hand trying to find me so I placed my snout on his hand
When his hand touched me, Blake pulled it back taken by surprise but a second later he stretched his hand again and touched my snout
"Wait a second" Blake said before facing at Gobber "Aren't you mad for a dragon being here?"
"Why should I be mad at the one that saved you?" Gobber asked "Do you remember it?"
Blake thought for a moment before speaking "I do remember it, Thunder saved me for the fire but why do I have a bandage covering my eyes?"
"Well… for what Gothi said, some fire was able to touch your left eye and it almost do the same with your right eye" Gobber explained "You'll have to wear a bandage until your eyes are healed"
When I hear that, I purred sadly as I placed my head on Blake's lap "It's okay Thunder, you did you best" he said gently petting my head
"And what happen with Stoick?" Blake asked "Is he okay with the idea of having two dragons around?"
"Yeah, he has a new idea of dragons, all thanks to Toothless who saved Hiccup from dying" Gobber said "In fact, he allowed the other teens to keep their dragons"
"Whoa, it's a lot to process in a short time" Blake said in disbelief
"I know, I'll let you rest for now, can I get you anything?" Gobber offered nicely
"Just something to eat, please, I'm a little hungry" Blake chuckled
"Sure, I'll be back" Gobber said before leaving the room
Minutes later, he came back with some food for Blake who started eating, when he finished eating, we went outside for a walk
Of course, he had some trouble at the beginning for not being able to see, that's why most of the time I carried him on my back, one time we went to Hiccup's house to see him and Toothless
Hiccup was still unconscious and Toothless didn't want to leave his side, I also took this opportunity to learn that Hiccup's father's name is Stoick
Two weeks passed Hiccup didn't wake up and more dragons from the nest came, the Vikings seemed to accept them, that's something that really surprised me now both dragons and humans can live together in peace
Also, today Blake's bandage was going to be removed today, Gobber, the healer who's probably Gothi and me were on Blake's room
Gothi carefully removed Blake's bandage allowing him to open his eyes and I was shocked for what I saw, his right eye was completely fine but his left eye looked grey
Gobber and Gothi looked sad when they saw Blake's left eye "Is something wrong?" Blake asked confused "I can see so that means that I'm not blind, that's good… right"
Gothi only gave Blake something to allow him to see himself, I wasn't surprised when he gasped when he saw his eye
"What happen to my eye?" Blake asked confused
"Well, that's the result of the fire touching your eye" Gobber explained "You're now one eye blind"
Blake looked sad so Gobber and Gothi decided to leave in order to give Blake time to process what just happen
I only nudged him in an effort to comfort him and it seemed to work, then we went to Hiccup's house to pay a visit to him and Toothless but I decided to fly around the island for a moment
Minutes later I saw a crowd of Vikings outside of the house but I quickly realized what was going on
Hiccup is awake and Blake is with him, I quickly landed and made my way to reunite with Blake
"So do you want a race all over the new Berk?" Hiccup asked
"A race?" Toothless asked "It doesn't sound like a bad idea"
"Do you really have to ask?" Blake asked
Then Blake got on my back and Hiccup got on Toothless' back who had a new prosthetic tail fin and with that we raced around Berk
That night I was really tired for the day that we had so I quickly fell asleep but then I woke up when I heard some deep breaths
It was Blake and he looked really scared "Blake?" I asked as I nudged him
"It's okay Thunder, it was just a bad dream" Blake said "You can go back to sleep"
"That's not happening" I said as I nudged him again
"You won't go to sleep until I go to sleep, right?" Blake sighed and I only nodded
He laid back on his bed ready to sleep, it didn't take him long but I choose to stay awake for a few more minutes to watch over him
Them I went to sleep but I realized something
This is the start of my new life
A/n: Hi, I'm here with the first chapter of my new story
Before ending I'd like to clarify some things
First, I made this chapter basing on the corrected version of A new Boy in Berk, I added some extra scenes in that version they're not too many of them but if you read the original version, you probably noticed the changes
Second, I won't stop working in Defenders of Berk and I'll try to update regular both of the stories
