Chapter 2 scaleless child
Hilda wakes up only to fall to the floor Twig use to this happening manages to jump onto the floor and licks Hilda's face, causing her to chuckle.
Hilda: At least it wasn't the horns this time.
She starts to untangle the blanket from her feet freeing her clawed toes she gets up and heads to the bathroom she brushes her hair and the tip of her tail after brushing her teeth tongue and gums she then grabs a different brush and starts cleaning her antlers after that she grabs a large file and starts working on the tips of her antlers, she than checks herself in the mirror.
Hilda: Some ones looking nice.
She then picks up Twig and grabs a fur brush she then starts brushing him making sure his coat was nice and clean she holds him up to her face and Twig licks her check.
Hilda: (haha) Twig I just washed.
She sets Twig down they both head to the dining table Johanna was already their eating cereal.
Johanna: morning Hilda, Twig.
Hilda: Morning mum.
Twig walks up to a prefilled food bowl she goes the fridge and grabs a jug of milk she then grabs it with her tail as she closes her fridge, she then grabs a bowel bigger than the one her mother had and casually carries it with one hand as she picks a box of cereal, she puts the bowel down and pours the cereal then milk then puts it back into the fridge grabbing the bowel and the spoon and sits down at the table, her mother looks at her bowl.
Johanna: Hilda is something wrong you're eating less than usual.
Hilda looks at her bowl seeing she hasn't filled it all the way.
Hilda: Oh, nothing just not as hungry as usual.
Johanna: Well, if you say so I'm going to go shopping and theirs something I want you to do.
Hilda's tail starts swishing back and forth she looks at her mother curiosity painted on her face.
Hilda: What is it mum?
Johanna places a book with a golden dragon mark on the table.
Hilda: Is that the?
Johanna: Your father's spell book last time I had you learn a healing spell, this time I want you to learn two spells I had marked if you succeed than you will officially inherit it.
Hilda: I don't know what to say.
Johanna: Just try your best sweetie know I have to go love you bye.
She gets up to leave and Hilda waves goodbye to her she then finishes her own food and leaves to get changed after doing so she opens the book to the first marked spell and removes the sticky note so that she may read over it, the flames pour out of her mouth and coiled around her body they then disappear and she looks at herself in a mirror.
Hilda: Wow! This is what I would look like full human.
True to her word the draconic bits of her body have disappeared or been replaced with human ones only her height and hair remained the same Twig looked at Hilda slightly confused her formed had changed but her sent was the same. Hilda was still looking over her body.
Hilda: This is amazing but I wonder where it all went.
She feels the top of her head then pats the back of her body.
Hilda: My flesh shouldn't just disappear like that.
Her tail jutted out of her skirt surprising her and Twig she looks over it moving it around slightly.
Hilda: Feels good to have that back (the rest of her dragon parts reappear) seems I need to concentrate to keep it up, next spell.
She looks for the next spell in the book when she finds it, she starts expelling the flames from her mouth they flicker and dance across her body and then she vanishes, Twig runs back and forth where his guardian was only to the start floating.
Hilda: Here I am.
Twig looks confused at what was happening until blue smoke starts pouring out of nowhere and gives form to a girl's head.
Hilda: Invisibility imagine what I could do with this I could. Oh, this is for when we move.
She places down Twig and dismisses the spell he then nuzzles against her leg she leans down and pets him they then hear a someone approaching they then look to see Alfur standing there.
Alfur: Hello sorry to interrupt but you do have an appointment with the mayor.
Hilda's wings start to flap and her tail swishes back and forth Alfur had to steady himself due to the sudden wind Hilda sees this and presses her wings to her back.
Hilda: Sorry my wings and tail have a mind of their own at times.
She lowers her hand for Alfur to climb onto after he dose so she raises it to her shoulder and he hops onto it.
Hilda: Now then were to? Do we climb the highest mountain, duel with fire spirits, fight a Barghest or…
Alfur: It's just outside your lawn.
One of Twig's hove presses against his forehead.
Hilda: Oh.
As Hilda walks out of the bathroom Alfur looks around and he would have to admit it was a nice home he recognized the carving techniques from an old book called Elfs and Dragons, it was called the dragon claw technique it was extremely rare not only were dragons rare but very few could use the proper magic to enchant their claws so that they worked on the wood if it weren't for this house he would of thought of it in the same way as lindworm fire, he looks at Hilda again remembering how strong her wingbeats were and the way she casted spells it wasn't fey like elf and troll magic she needed more effort, and witch magic was out it was much more difficult.
Alfur: Hilda that magic you were using?
Hilda: What about it?
Alfur: What type is it?
Hilda: Draconic, why do you ask?
Alfur: No reason (in his mind). Draconic! That means this girl is a dragon but what kind and we try to chase her out! We thought she was a magical creature but we never thought dragon and we threatened her home and family! Why didn't she burn us dragons are immune to contracts due to the lindworm clause! Why does she look half human some dragons can take human form but this seemed to be her base form and she called the Human(?) mum! Is she a halfling if so, then how dragons mating with non-dragons was rare elfs knew they could exist but they never been able to record it in any records! Wait if this house is of dragon make and a half dragon lives here… Oh no.
Hilda: Hey Alfur you alright you look a little bit pale.
Alfur: Oh yes, I'm alright just fine.
Hilda: Okay then.
